I made this 3 weeks ago and wasn’t going to upload but if it helps someone or stops someone getting ill it has to be worth it ,it may separate but a quick shake and it’s good to go (since found out whisking it may have been the answer )

Can’t get hold of the intensifier
Hi. What material is the jacket made of? All the best 👍🏾🇬🇧
I've used the Nikwax product before, and quite honestly I found it to be a load of rubbish, so a complete waste of money that turned out to be. Then I just recently discovered Fabsil Gold, so after reading some excellent reviews about it, I ordered a litre of it to waterproof my MTP smock jacket, I sprayed it quite liberally with the stuff just yesterday and left it hanging in the garage, due to the weather it's not dry yet, but boy does it stink, I've been told that once it's completely dry the smell will disappear...just hope they're right.
Same. Used some Granger's wash in nonsense on a untreated smock and water soaked in, also activated it with heat. Melted in some wax now but will use fabsil in the future
Can’t seem to play video
Hello, could you still see the print underneath with the black dye?
Would it work without a color intensifier? I have the two black packets you've used but couldn't find the color intensifier on their shop sadly. What's the pot size you've used? Edit, now I finally deigned to actually open the packages and see the intensifier is included in what I bought.
Too short learned nothing
Well where exactly did he say he'd be instructing us?
looks like fabsil gold is next
After using barbour was on my sas smock ,it didn't waterproof it at all .i was going to try tx10 which you put in washing machine and see if its claims of waterproofing on this materials think this can be found in uk ???/???
Saw this post yesterday having spent hours trying to work out what the problem was with my E39 air suspension. I'm NOT a mechanic but managed to locate & remove the the solenoids and did exactly what you described - I'm now mobile! Thanks big time
I was wondering how hot the clothing label said you could wash it? Looks good tho!
Yeah, I wonder how applicable this method is to some clothes. However, all clothes were originally dyed, right? So there's always *a* method.
Don’t die it u will ruin it, leave it how it is, it looks way better now
Hi! Is this a dyed version of an issued smock?
Good evening, yes it started out as a desert colour smock but turns out you should be able to dye the latest pattern mtp smock in much the same way .
@@beamish1066 Hi! Thank you for the prompt reply. The smock in the video basically looks black to me, is that due to the camera or me or you managed to dye it to such an extent?
Using a solvent based felt tipped marker to colour the threads to match required finished colour, works well.
Is it the same process for the front door card
Hi would this handle welding a hoop to a cafe racer bike seat
Hi ,yes it would as I’ve used it to do that on a Honda frame .(was awhile ago and can’t remember settings )
@@beamish1066 cheers pal thank you
Just found your channel. The finished product looks amazing, do you think it would work as well on an MTP smock. How is it holding up and how is the waterproof going
I'd love to buy some MTP combat shirts and dye them black.
I've ordered this same mig will see how it goes to weld up our old truck
I’ve used mine a fair bit on my car and although it’s not the prettiest of welds it’s functional (probably more my lack of talent than the fault of the welder) .
Idiot, why did you boil it? Can you explain, why the hell did you boil it? What was that used for?? Make the fabric medium cook so the dye last longer?? No... hot water are just enough...
Hello kabu 11 ,thank you for doubting and calling me out on my intelligence but the manufacturers instructions state for stove top applications to maintain a rolling boil , hope this helps 👍👍👍👍😁
Leave it to soak over night (starting in water at 40 degC) then wash on a normal 30 degC cycle. Your final dye did come out good. The subtle cam is good, I think.
I am about to try my one of these units for first time soon,i have experience in oxy acetylene welding only, any tips for setting up to weld steel plate around 4 to 6mm and 1.5mm thick tubing please?
Great vid man, I was wondering if you could just steep it in said fabsil
Hi ,in theory yes ,I only sprayed/brushed it on as wasn’t sure if it would strip the dye but if you were just waterproofing it wouldn’t be a problem.
is there a way just to darken and not completely make it black?
Afternoon, yes there is ,if you look at one of the other videos I did on the dying process using green dye you still had the camo pattern so in theory using another colour like a light brown (dylon won’t dye the zip or Velcro but Idye poly will )
Now that's what I'm talking about
Do you think this would world with other block colours my cousin wants yellow combats for his Xmas and dying them seems to be the only way to get it done
Just noticed I hadn’t replied so first off sorry , having tried to dye some trousers in flat green for someone else it will work but you will still have the camo pattern showing through .
@@beamish1066 I don't see the camo colour in the photo of this one. Does it show in bright light, or did it get rid of the camo because it's black?
what a waste
Hey ,looking at it now I wish I’d kept one in the desert dpm ,wouldn’t say it’s a waste but just repurposed as I can wear it more often in black .
@@beamish1066 i mean if you feel people judge you then fair enough but nothing wrong with it as it was so long as you dress to cater how it looks
@@Millzieeeee it’s all good .
How?
what a waste
How much water do we need ?
Hi ,as long as it covers the garment it’s enough but think it was about 5 to 10 litres (couple of gallons in old money )in that pan
Well i bought this one today from ebay for the same price. Have looked arround for some of them, and decided i want this one. Will do small DIY projects so anyway i am not getting to weld some serious heavy duty tick metals. I think this item is a good buy.
I’ve used it mainly on my car to weld in a new jacking point as the tin worm had been hungry and out of sight ,it managed well on 1.8mm steel and I’ve used it on 3mm steel but that’s about it .
Thank you
youre supposed to season the steak before you put it in the dishwasher.
😂🤣 if it was proper sous vide I would have 👌
Why tho??? U could just buy a brand new black jacket from propper bdu bruhh
propper doesn't make this style jacket, I don't think?
Did you ever post a follow vid of you trying it out?
I put the brief part on the end but did make a video that I never uploaded(since been lost ),I’ve used the welder a lot and it’s been good ,I will try over the next month to make a follow up .
Where can you purchase the orange o ring seal?
That a really good question,I know some hardware stores/shops sell boxes of o rings but I will come back later with a better answer .
@@beamish1066 Mine seems to be leaking from the solenoid so im presuming its just the o ring, does red mean its silicone? will nitrile suffice?
I tried using Viton as it’s what I had to hand at the time only after I had put it all back together did I notice my housing had a hairline crack in it so that’s when I sourced a 2nd hand landrover unit ,it’s been fine since .
Does they dying process shrink the clothes at all?
Hello R R , it didn’t for me but it is a good question as I know how many pieces of clothing my wife has shrunk in the washer/dryer .
What is the problem with suspension if solenoids are bad?
The seal had a leak on mine so would always sag (even after new sls bags/springs .
@@beamish1066 my drops after few hours but as soon as i start it rises up. Could it be that or something else? Bags are new also
Luka Nađi Mišić , yes it could be the solenoid or pipes (which are also fragile )
@@beamish1066 piping has been checked so thats ok. I will have to take a look at them. Thank you very much!
Good work mate, very clear
Does the dye ever come off on any of your other clothes with sweat?
Not yet ,the nearest was after it had been dyed I closed the zips and pockets before rinsing so for awhile after when I would put my hands in them they would put a slight mark on my hands like dirt ,but that was my fault and it would wipe straight off .
@@beamish1066 thanks for the info.
@@beamish1066 Ah, so it should be left for a while after being dyed?
Would idye poly work on a white nylon/poly nike swoosh on a black nike top? I'm wanting to do a blackout top and just ordered idye poly after 0 results with dylon
I know idye poly works well on polyester and it also says it can do nylon ,so it has to be worth a try (was just trying to find out what material the the zip runner was on the smock ) I don’t know if you will get solid black or a very dark grey
Any luck ?
@@beamish1066 Yeah, any luck?
The only problem with dyeing is that some of the stitching, velcro etc doesn’t dye. I guess this ok if your going on a night pursuit or similar.
Idye and idye polly does a fairly good job of covering, but I know what you mean as I’ve tried dylon before and it didn’t change the colour of the stitching
@@beamish1066 Does it definitely not dye veclro?
Hi, great Video!☺️ Is the salt necessary?
It’s all down to the material, the salt helps it dye the fabric/speed the transfer of dye up . You get better results with less chance of streaking with salt (apparently pickling salt is best but I just used the cheapest table salt I could get ) ,thank you and I hoped this helped .
@@beamish1066 Haver you ever used pickling salt, and did it make a difference?
Such a cool video. I love customizing stuff.
Thank you for taking the time to comment,I also love customising stuff when I get the time 👍🏻👍🏻

I'd leave it ....as is.
Guys before doing this, know that you can disassemble disco body to avoid cutting servo cables accidentally. It is easy to do, just remove chuck and continue with motor screws, then the bottom screws to split the body.
how did you do that gold plating
Hello pen brand ,it’s electroplated using the brush method .
does it 'breathe' or do you still get drenched with your own sweat? Thanks.
Hello ,good evening, yep it still breathes and no it’s not like an anorak .hope this helps
