btw sir, since you like games like fallout, have you ever played UnderRail?
Only recently started playing this game and my only tip is; when you finally get to ranger HQ, make a new custom character with the Prospector quirk and go dig out all the spots around the Ranger HQ. You'll get gold nuggets that go for a 1000 or 500 gold. After you're done with all the diggings, you can swap out that custom character for other custom characters that are more stat-appropriate for your party.
Yeah, make a "Barter Mule" with max INT, Gold Digger and Money Bags and pump up everything into Barter. Make them apart of your party whenever you make shopping runs.
Smart idea!
The game is easy as it is so these types of tricks don't really interest me but if you want money early go for it
You might also get lucky and get a Gold Bar, which is worth 2500$ and would help out for a long while

imagine a fallout 1 and 2 remake in this engine, i see potential.
This will be controversial but I prefer wasteland over fallout don’t get me wrong fallout is great 1 and 2 are awesome same with nv but wasteland is better in my oponion

Tbf, Fallout 1 and 2 still hold up remarkably well. I don't think the graphics have aged that badly.

One important thing about quick slots. After combat ends if your animals are 'bleeding' or 'poisoned' they will rapidly continue to take damage till that timer expires. If your not paying attention you can easily lose an animal follower. A character will need a suture kit or antibiotics in a quick slot to heal them and going to inventory screen and swapping to quick slots takes time.
A special tip I need to tell everyone here. If you have the animal whisperer skill, charm a rabbit (no wolves/bears/dogs/cats/chickens/mechanical chickens but rabbits), because I'll tell you that rabbit was like the rabbit from Monty Python The Holy Grail. It can heavilly crit enemies, it can travel long distances and attack 3-4 goddamn times with many landing more than the other animals I used in the game. Those Rebreathers never had a chance against him.
Wasteland 3's probably the only game where you'll have rabbits and foxes wreck the shit out of tanks and giant robots
Wasteland games are incredibly complex and beautiful and criminally under rated
You can create a barter guy and a toaster guy from Greatsky as well. Saves from having to use your points on your main characters on those skills. Just swap them out once you find the toasters or once you have a bunch of stuff to sell.

There are more than 1 skillbook per skill. I've found duplicates for rifle and brawling. Other skills most likely have duplicates too. There may be 1 guaranteed book per skill and some duplicates from random loot.
I'd just discovered that moments after publishing this, hehe. Did you get a duplicate Toaster Repair book from Ananda at Ranger HQ? As you said too, I got Automatics and Brawling duplicates from bunker encounters on the map, same for you?
I only have double in brawling thus far and no brawlers on my squad lol.

I have triples. I have triples of the Barracuda. Triples of the Road Runner and triples of the Nova.
Triples makes it safe.
Triples is best.

I highly suggest investing in barter and getting the antique perk. I sold some junk and ended up getting 32k. Armor ammo and health are no longer a issue but that doesnt mean the game is any easier. If you enjoy the combat far more then the resource management then I highly suggest focusing on barter on one character and getting the antique perk asap.
I did this last night, sold all my junk and got a huge 78k, i immediately went and bought out all the ammo and healing items i could get lmao

This was my first Wasteland game and it's been really good so far, I'm about 10hours in. This video was quite helpful and though there are definitely some "right"/"wrong" moves to make in the game while building it out, it's really left open which is super cool. Going to check out part 2. Thanks

I didn't go with any of them as none had Quirks (which are HUGELY beneficial), but if they actually have interesting stories/conversations, I might consider them for my second playthrough.

VITAL Skills:

Mechanics
Nerd Stuff
Explosives
These four skills will handle the vast majority of problems you'll run into and unlock the most loot for you to take. Early in the game, you for certain want Mechanics to defeat the Spider Tank boss without having to actually fight it. Mechanics is pretty much mandatory on higher difficulties.
You also want to bring someone with a Shotgun in your party. Shotguns, by and large, don't seem to do "all that much damage" to a single opponent. However, they are basically AOE attackers. Enemies have a tendency to "group up" and for the low low cost of 3 AP, you can actually hit 7-8 people if you are lucky. If you manage to put elemental damage on your shotgun as well, you've basically turned your Shotgunner into a "spell caster". If you can hit 3 or more people each turn and apply an elemental state to at least one on each shot, you will be rolling in excessive damage. Also, if you're using a shotgun... NEVER "lock on aim". You ALWAYS want to free-aim your shotgun. If you free-aim down to the pixel, you can use the shotgun like a surgeon's scalpel and avoid hitting your melee users right up next to enemies while also slamming pellets into the faces of a ton of enemies all at once. You will be surprised just who and what you can hit in crazy "group" situations if you free aim. Oh, shotgun ammo may not be plentiful early game, but once you get to Colorado Springs, you can buy some for fairly cheap if you need it... or loot so much Shotgun Ammo that you'll probably never run out. Oh, and if you are still using the "pump shotguns", don't forget to use your last AP for a turn to reload after the second shot. It's better than wasting part of your next turn on a reload. You can also get a Perk later for Shotguns in which you can apply Bleed to multiple enemies all at once. Highly useful! Oh, you're going to want to couple Shotgunning with getting as much criticial hit rate and damage as possible as well. This will help make up for the "decently low damage" most shotguns output against single targets. You can easily go from 25 damage per hit to upwards of 105 on a crit with the shotgun (and instantly killing a good chunk of enemies early game).
Basically... shotgun builds are super OP. You want a Shotgunner and you want that Shotgunner to specialize pretty much exclusively in damage output of that shotgun if you can. You will absolutely DESTROY many early encounters that you might not survive otherwise (in fact, on the "Normal" type difficulty, at level 6, you can pretty much single-handedly kill almost everyone in Little Vegas and really only need to heal up a couple times. You won't even use more than 15 shots of ammo doing it).

you know you can just run around it when it's not looking, right? I mean, you miss out on the XP of killing it and whatever loot it drops but it doesn't mean mechanics is absolutely necessary in the early game.
Another tip: If you stay out of range of the "Dorsey Ambusher" at the beginning that has a gun pointed at a ranger's head, you can avoid triggering the cutscene and passing the requisite skill checks and just shoot her with your sniper (you DID roll a sniper as one of your first 2, right?) and end the encounter that way, which also prevents her from warning the others down the road
@@pmarreck Nah, I didn't roll up a sniper right away. Mostly because I don't typically care about sniping. When I rolled up one later, I discovered sniping was criminally inefficient in most cases (ammo is insanely scarce for early game and it's fairly useless unless you've got a ton of AP to use... plus early game, you can kill most enemies in one hit anyway... especially with a shotgun that can multi-kill for 3 AP).
Also, letting her warn the Dorsey's is kind of a non issue if you approach from the upper side there during the triggered cutscene. Most of them are still within range of the explosive barrel and anyone else has to funnel up the side paths to get a good shot at you.
And nope, never considered running around the robot. Mostly because it's slightly difficult to do so with the partner AI unless you've got points into sneaking. You can go with sneaking, sure, but you miss out on a ton of XP in doing so. The only reason to really take "Sneaky Shit" is for the handful of specific skillchecks that require it and give you XP for doing them. Otherwise, you're better off just initiating combat on your own with surprise attacks (I like to open with the shotgun for multikills before initiative is rolled).
On my first run, I went with a shotgunner and a brawler (just punch people! YEAH!). It allowed me to sell most other ammo and guns for some quick money early game, as well as conserve ammo. I didn't roll Mechanics as an initial skill (I had to fight the robot with my shotgun and with punching!), but took it on a later run, which made the encounter insanely easy.
There is some bad math in the game. If an Item gives you Skill points in something, remove it before raising the skill.
For example, if you have an 8 in Brawl, and a +1 item (giving you 9) when you purchase the next level you will be paying the cost for the 10 skill (8?).
If you remove it first, you pay the 9 cost (5?)
Thanks for mentioning this, I always forget to unequip skill bonus gear. You're right though, it shouldn't treat the bonuses as if they were permanent!
Sounds like an oversight and should be reported to the devs I think.
@@otakon17 I'm sure it has, I've seen it elsewhere. But it is just a "visual" glitch, points end up being spent correctly. When I noticed it it I took off the item, but after hearing it didn't actually affect your points I did test it.
They really should make temporary skill points a different color in the skills menu too like in Wasteland 2 where the number was different if it was boosted
@@jackoberto01 Great game though, hopefully they get it all straightened out. Just figured out how to get around "Rally" doesn't work bug. You have to make sure they are standing up, and not in cover (which makes you crouch).

A sneaky sniper build is so good to ambush enemies with since you do like plus 200% damage from ambush with the level 10 perk. Also for some reason the chain ambush perk doesn't work properly rn
A tip: you can respec everyone, not just custom characters. So if you think scitchmo should be a melee character or that Lucia's weapon mod skill is wasted, you can just go ahead and do it. It is quite expensive, tho.

I just got the game quite recently and I think the quickslot system has been changed so that you no longer are able to change out items during a battle.

Even with nerfs to INT it's still the second most important stat in the game. That's how important your skill points are.
For skills don't max them out to 10.
Excluding weapon skills.
The reason is you get trinkets that increase certain skills by 1.
By planning ahead and with a bit of luck you can save up to 11 skill points per skill tree.
5 from using a book to reach level 9 and another 6 for using a trinket.
If each character has 3 skills (4 including weapon skills) that mean you save a whopping 15-33 (20-44) skill points! (Almost 2 skill trees!)
Another tip is put 1 point into first aid for everyone. You trade 1 skill point (easy to do with the above plan) so everyone can use med packs which heal 30% con for 3 turns.
Helpful tip for sure but I prefer using trinkets which add unique bonuses like crit chance, crit damage, cyborg abilities etc

It's all about pros and cons in Wasteland 3.
Regarding skill books, im pretty sure that when i played, skills where i had used books the skill point cost was one level lower.

What does “Highlight fill” do in the options? I’ve turned it on/off but don’t notice any difference.
Multiplayer is beyond broken right now, tons of game-breaking bugs. I'm gonna wait for some hotfixes before trying it again.
It's been going OK for myself and a friend but he had to direct-connect to my IP/port and I had to open a port in my router and connect it to my gaming pc. I think it's Wasteland's servers that are mostly the problem
@@pmarreck It's gotten better since the patch, progression seems to work fine now but still tons of weird little glitches
Huge tip (i´m near mid game), luck had changed from W2, where on the past game you would be loaded with ammo and rare armor, now you have to get sayed perk that helps you find ammo and raise barter with one guy at least, so you buy for less and sell for a lot, raise fame with the good guys trust me really worth it, i "failed" some quests because the lack of "nerd stuff" buff that skill until 7 or max as soon as possible before you start exploring the map (farm random encounters near colorado and go all out on it), exploring w/o nerd stuff you´re screwed later on, needles to say toaster repair isa must, at least that i got maxed very soon, you got 1 skill book per skill but they´re pretty rare and somewhat random.

I dont know if this is just me but I dont feel like cover even has that much of an effect. Even when in full cover and defending, enemies of all types ALWAYS seem to hit! Like it doesnt even matter that I'm behind a 2 feet thick concrete wall.

I've made my characters with 4 int, and they have 5 skill points per level, so int works as per level bonus, not as one time only. Maybe it got patched?
And be cause of this alone I want to start over to make characters with 6/8 int each.

I did a sneaky sniper (goat killer / death wish) and a heavy gunner & bomber (explodomaniac / pyromaniac) as my starting duo on supreme jerk.
6:27 there wasn't an AP penalty accessing your inventory in Wasteland 2 either, just an empty weapon you gotta reload if you swap them.
This isn't the point though, that game didn't have perks and to increase your hotbar size or a small hotbar
While this game limited the hotbar to two at the start for some reason but still let you switch at any time

How about kwon and lucia leaving party after random encounter or killing enemy who tried to kill you? Any tips on how i supposed to fix this
Yeah I stopped playing in the third act when kwon left. My squad was so we'll laid out and synergized so well and that just fucked it up. If I play again I'll just run all custom rangers but that's boring.

Can you get more pets if you give animal whisperer to many characters or is there no point at all in giving the perk to more than one character?
Yeah, if each character has animal whisperer, they can each have one animal companion!
I had a bison, honey badger, mountain goat, dog and Major Tomcat at one point. I barely had to do any work myself.
I have 2 Kumite skill books (brawling) - the rest are one book per skill...
What's the best weapon to start the game with? I was think assault rifles and heavy machine guns and I tried sniper rifle but you don't get any sniper ammo at the start of the game so I changed that out. Also whats the best stats for those weapons because for heavy machine gun I was thinking coordination, strength and either speed or awareness can't choose.
For a Heavy Weapons Ranger I suggest Coordination and Awareness with some Strength to ensure you can equip them.
I started the game with a Brawler and Sniper and didn't have too much trouble with ammo, but I may have just gotten lucky with loot.

@@ghosti79 Weapon stripping yes, armor not so much. You can get mods from stripping weapons which are very useful for you the armor modding is a nice addition but you don't need high lvls in it (max 5)
i don't know why people can't find ammo, i've legit never ran out of any ammo, apart from 1 times in the prologue. Every video is like 'Ammo is scarce' no it's not haha, you find ammo everywhere, you kill a lot of enemies for ammo. The sniper guy actually saved your bullets for everyone els because he 1 hits most enemies. I'm playing on the 2nd hardest difficulty too haha. Plus you find junk everywhere and can sell it for a lot to buy more weapons and ammo. I don't know maybe i might just be good at these types of games but i've had 0 problems with money or ammo.

Skill books can be used twice per book. (might be a glitch) Just click use twice. clicking a third time uses the next book. (Works for Xbox version)
Just started playing this and now apparently you can’t do anything with your inventory during combat, unless I’m missing something
So After lvl 10 int wil not help you geting more skille points :(??

New to franchise few of my characters died red skull on them..are they gone forever?
If you have permadeath on, yes. If not, you can use a Nitro Spike to get them back up after the fight's over.
woah i just noticed while you were talking about attributes that it spells "C.L.A.S.S.I.C." while fallout spells "S.P.E.C.I.A.L" such a subtle reference ^^
The original Fallout game was originally intended to use the C.L.A.S.S.I.C but the rights holder to the ‘system’ didn’t want to be associated with the game so the developers made their own with some very heavy and obvious references 😏
I play on xbox 1 and the game keeps crashing. I disabled autosave but it didnt help
Phenomenal game. Possibly a favorite of all time. Xcom could learn a lot from it.

@KingDanny9 I'm trying to find someone to join on ps4 for multi-player to see what its like, I made characters based on half of a super hero team. Buddy Alvin, Toby Clark, and Steven captain ranger, but I'm also just trying to find more about how wasteland 3 co-op is like

I actually found 2 brawling skill books in my playthrough
There is guaranteed books and then there is random loot which can drop books so yes you can probably get 2 of some books (very rarely can you get more than 2 )
I love these types of game but, it's frustrating to go back and play older tactical RPGs cause you can pour through pages of forum posts and manuals and not learn that you need to level up pinky fingering to be able to use melee weapons
Where is a place to get good high level weapons
Have a high luck/locksmith open all your stuff. Having high luck lets you generate better loot in the loot pool
Really seems the quality of life for wasteland 3 is increased
I hope it's tutorial system is fixed I really hate entering combat and then having to read 15 pages of tutorial notes explaining how to fight in wasteland 2
only for my characters to miss 95% of their shots and then die because the enemy outguns them in every way despite me building them specifically to be good at combat
And yes I'm aware of weapon effective ranges precision shots and their effects on different body parts etc etc
I just couldn't get into wasteland 2 it's combat was ass not because the type of combat system turn based is fundamentally bad but simply because wasteland 2 had too many screws loose in its combat
It just felt too much like trading blows because cover and flanking seemed to do jack shit for my team
Anyways apologies for the paragraph I shall be playing wasteland 3 soon wish me luck
The pooled inventory is nice, but if you're playing multiplayer with someone that steals all the good armor, then it isn't that nice.

I wish. I got it the same day as everyone else. These first tips came out before I even finished the game, as stated in the intro.
Barter perks are the best.
I got like 12K takes to antique appraisal. I'm positive this will end up getting nerfed.
Always have at least 1 or 2 shotgun users, one specialist and one generic user. Clears enemy cover perfectly, I used that for Marshal Kwon and my own Assault rifle specialist and combat was pretty nice,
Caedo, am I stupid? You said you can turn perma death on? I thought it wasn’t even in the game? Imo games way too easy now, I’m also on an Xbox s which seems to be taking it the worst. Why the inventory crashes so much in an inventory management game is beyond me...
Kinda wish all energy Weapons were covered under Mechanics or Weird science.

I ran 4 shoutguns in Supreme jerk and never ran into ammo issues. Get the ammo find perk and max barter skill perk or buy in bulk perk and you will have enough money to easily buy all the ammo you need if you buy out the armory and the one in Colorado Springs average 180 to 200 shells and 300 revolver round you can also head to the airport for another 200 more shells from their shop and machine combine.

Hopefully the modding community works on taking a wack at making a separate inventory system. I preferred that to the pooled. I liked having two people with the same weapon, and just having one hang back (both were support so the ammo usage of one didn’t affect the other)
The game is on the gamepass. I try it and it seems fun but is looking awful on xbox one I saw so many reviews of this game and it looks great for everybody even for you but that is not my case; is that an error or something?.
The game definitely has some issues on Xbox but I think the difference you're seeing is PC vs. console. Most people reviewing the game and creating guides for it are doing so on PC's.

I too play on xbox (Newer Generation) and there are a lot of bugs in the Game for me. Most importantly, the Game freezes every 30 - 45 Minutes. That‘s why i stopped playing, and Hope they will Fix this. Tip: Turn Auto save to 5 minutes, of you have the same issue

There’s some wonky shit in this game, sometimes I’m directly next to an enemy and I still only have %75 to hit. Datmakenosense.
Weapons have effective ranges, minimum included. Some rifles will lose accuracy rather than gain it if you point blank with them.
