  • I'm installing an older style Andersen, crank open, deck mounted skylight in this video. I go through the entire process of cutting the rough opening, flashing tape, step flashing and shingling. This is a tricky job but it can be done so that the skylight is leak-proof. This has been up for months now without a single drip of a leak. This is the flashing from scratch method - no pre-designed flashing kits.
This is the flashing tape I used (Amazon affiliate link):

That’s a Great addition to the Loft !! Now since you’ve built this has there been any inconsistencies or addressing any mistakes from the beginning that your viewers watching need to know or be aware of ? That would be helpful especially for some of us who are actually making one following the tutorial! Thanks and I won’t need a sky light on mine! It’s a shed!

Hey, so far it's been going well. I would probably suggest adding a gutter to the roof. I've noticed that my roof overhang extends farther out from my gravel pad then expected, so some water drips I to the dirt and splashes dirt onto the side of the shed. A gutter would help. I might add one in the future, shouldn't be too difficult.
