  • I built this wooden loft ladder for my studio shed build. This is a very sturdy ladder that hooks onto the loft using 3/4 black pipe. This is not too difficult to build if you have some basic power tools. I used pine 2x6s for the rails and Oak 1x6s for the rungs. This is similar to a library ladder except that it does not roll from side to side. This would be perfect for a tiny house or a loft in a converted shed or garage.

Hey Karl, I noticed when you were sanding the rungs on the ladder, the ladder appears to be on the subfloor.
Will that change the fit of the ladder onto the pipe when you put it back with the flooring in place? Thanks

Good eye, but I actually cut the notch for the pipe while the rail was resting on top of a piece of my LVP flooring plank so that I could get an accurate measurement. That did the trick.
