    It’s like if Cronenberg and Lynch had a baby. And then separately Argento and Araki had a baby. And then their offspring had a baby and it loved Buffy.

    Easily in my top 3 most anticipated. World's Fair has crept up and become one of my favorite horror movies in recent years. And this sounds like such a natural progression from that film, expanding it into even more ambitious territory.

    Sounds like my kind of movie...I love anything from A24 and characters detached from reality, and I also love that it's set in the 90s because I grew up in the 90s.

    while i like the idea of the pink opaque being a speaking device for these characters, i'm not sure it mixed into their world very well. if they we're obsessed with the show that much, the imagery should've influenced the world around them more to help us get immersed in the show as well. unfortunately i just don't think they leaned into the imagery and horror element's from the show enough which led to a pretty boring movie experience. the music is also a perfect example of how easy it is for this movie to neglect some much needed world building for some vibey aesthetics. if you enjoy it for the story though and what it teaches you then more power to you. i just think it needed a bit more life and energy.

    If you were to make videos while at Sundance, could you please prioritize making videos on US Dramatic and International Dramatic? That way us at home can go quickly grab an online screener for them.
    Midnight and Premiere categories I'd prefer you uploaded a video of after the fest is over. Since there are no online portion for it.

    One of my most anticapted films of 2024! I love Justice since The Get Down so I love to see him get more work after the past few years. Also a big fan of Brigette Lundy-Paine and their work in A Typical and the new Bill & Ted. I haven't seen Jane's debut so I definitely will check it out before watching I Saw the Tv Glow. As a queer wallflower I think I am going to hold this film close to my heart.

  • @swallowbug11

    I really disliked how alot of people saw We're All Going to the Worlds Fair and only got like "internet bad" out of it but i guess that film is just so queer focused specifically a trans piece that most people who aren't trans wouldn't get it, like the film imo almost is more about the benefits of online society and the escape it gives then the harm it causes. I really enjoyed that film and took so much from it so to hear yall talk about this film in this way has me very hyped for it.

    • @markbisson6166
      @markbisson6166 2 месяца назад

      I got that too, but in a way that made seem as though Jane was saying that trans people are living in a fantasy world, sort of in a negative way. Obviously they didn’t mean that, but that’s how it seemed to me.

      @@ParkerTime10 you mean the World’s Fair one? Or I Saw the TV Glow? I saw the tv glow is much more obviously an allegory about transness (if that’s a word). Worlds Fair is much less obvious. You really have to read a lot into it t come to that conclusion.

    I wanted to love this film so badly but left feeling let down. I loved the soundtrack, color pallet, and general aesthetic but the last act fell flat for me. It felt really convoluted in the last 30 min or so imo. Totally agree how "when the film ends it doesn't end" because it's still weighing on my mind even though I didn't love it. Some of my opinions may change the more it marinates and after a re-watch tho. great review!

    This film is weird, to say the least. I could pick up on the guy being strongly autistic. How much was symbolic and how much is reality gets blurred hard. I didn't hate it, it definitely keeps your interest and there's a trans allegory in there but you might miss it, if you don't really observe.

    I feel gaslit. That was the worst movie I’ve seen in a long time. It was unwatchable. Also - the sound was so loud and aggressive, I actively hated it (despite the good song choices). I wanted to walk out of the theater 15 minutes in, stayed for an hour and regret sticking around that long. I’m not anti-trans, but I had to google what the movie was about. It wasn’t self-explanatory at all. The pace is barely crawling. It’s so painfully slow and the dialog is awkward. The characters feel like the blandest thing the writers could possibly cook up. No emotion, no stakes, no conflict.

    Movie was horrible. Would get super loud for no reason. Its not so much trans focused. Its more about losing yourself in a show and thinking you are a character in that show. There are better movies out there. Atheist, gay, or just someone who doesnt fit in the home or lives in an abusive home can relate. Its so jumbled for me and i was stumbling by the end of confusion. The worst was the aging.

    This movie was dreadful. 30 mins in I wanted to slide down the movies screen with a utility knife to save people. Then I said let me give it another 30 mins. It just never gets good. The best way to describe it would be take a look at a recent photo of the director and that’s what you should expect from this movie.
