Very informative and straight to the point! Well done and thank you.
Thanks so much! Worked like a charm. :)
Thank you. The paper clip is all I need.
Do you have to deregister a device? Or can buying one and factory resetting it remove all ties with the previous owner
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
Brilliant, super clear info. Thanks...……..
why did you do.................Like why what’s the point
I accidently deregistered my Echo, because I thought I had to because I was switching account, now I can set it back up is there a fix>
Just setup the Amazon Echo as if it was a new device associated with your Amazon account. This will re-registers the Echo to your account again. Your data i.e. music, audio books etc are associated with your Amazon account so nothing important will be lost, however certain features i.e. Multi-Room will have to be setup again.
Are the steps the same for the regular Amazon Echo 2nd generation? Not the Echo plus.
We checked that both the Echo Plus and the 2nd Gen Amazon Echo both have a reset switch. So it looks like the steps are the same.
mydoodads couldnt find the reset button on 2nd gen echo, the “deregister” option isnt on the app either, everything about the echo and app is over complicated,me and my wife both connected to it and now all my stuff(amazon music etc) wont play,
Hi Jamjar_1986 , I was wrong it it looks like you factory reset the 2nd Gen Amazon Echo in the same way as you do an Amazon Dot ruclips.net/video/ZbP4jyOoGXk/видео.html. I agree the Amazon echo app is overly complicated especially if you want to use multiple accounts.
Which Alexa is this?
Should have had examples of deregistering under different situations or combinations: (1) You have an account but no Alexa app (and you don't want it); (2) The person who gave it to you did not deregister; (3) You don't have an Amazon account. These might just be text, such as "If you don't have A, you don't have to do B."
Also, I do movies of the iPhone's screen. Where did you get that animated finger? I see several animated GIF sites.
This video is one I made a number of years ago. So, as new versions of Amazon echos have been released, I have been slowly tweaking the format, based off feed back and my RUclips analytics.
What I have found is that if I start to talk about multiple scenarios people can get confused. Particularly when talking about tech, as not everyone has the same level of knowledge, understanding or confidence in what they are doing. Then because I personally find it very difficult to process text on a screen while I am trying to comprehend what someone is saying and doing. So I tend not to place text in my videos.
It's also worth noting that a lot of people watching my "how to" videos, are doing so from smart phones. So due to smaller screen sizes and how they have their phone orientated, could make reading text difficult.
Finally, as far as possible I will always try and take the position that someone has not yet attempted to do something, and they are currently researching what they need to do. So in my videos I try and target that person, rather than someone who has done something a little off piste.
Then for those who have gone off piste, I will try and use the comments section to provide secondary assistance, then if enough people keep reporting the same issues I will look into making a supplementary video.
As to the animated finger, I use an application called Screenflow (macOS) to capture video. About 5 years ago they allowed customers to buy licensed animations for the Screenflow app, so I purchase a number of finger gestures. However, I think that you now need to order Screenflow's stock media library if you want access to the finger animations.
I hope my perspective is of use to you, and good luck with your videos.
Theres no deregester on the app
