How to de-register and then reset an Amazon Dot back to factory defaults. As the reset process is slightly different to that of the Amazon Echo, we will show you how to reset the device in a frustration free way. Хобби
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
Thank you for the great streamlined tutorial, really saved me time and frustration as well as created clarity.
This was the easiest video for me to deregister my echo dot. I recommend this man.

I think the software has been updated on the smartphones (I'm not sure if iOS and android have the same setup for this app) since you made this video, so the process looked a little bit different for me... but you still got me to the right spot, so thank you! 🙌
we don't still have to log in to our Amazon accounts on the browser and deregister it there as well, do we? The app was enough, right? I can delete the app now if I dont have any more Alexa hardware in the house?
Thanks again, cheerio ✌️
Hi Dan,
You are right. Since this video was posted the Alexa App has gone through a number of updates and changes to the user interface. Unfortunately, because of the way RUclips’s algorithm works, it will alway show this video over the newer video we posted which shows the latest model of Dot and a more up to date version of the App.
So, thank you for the heads up. I have added a card at the beginning of this video to point to the newer video.
To answer your query. In the beginning de-registering an amazon echo from your amazon account was more difficult than it is today. Amazon, presumed that when you were factory resetting a device, you were doing it to fix a problem rather than preparing to get rid of the device.
However, today when you remove an Echo device via the Alexa App. As long as the Echo is still connected to the internet. It will automatically, factory reset and de-authorise itself from your account. So yes, you can now delete the app.
Hope that helps to answer you query, and thanks for your support.
Soooo how do I deregister an echo that I bought that was used and the previous owner didnt deregister it?
Did you figure it out?
I’m having this same problem
Same here
Thank u man
mines do not get No orange light ..what can be done?
thanks
i was given this device by a family member of mine and they are not really computer illiterate and i'm not sure if they would have deauthorized the device at all, would i still be able to reset the device via the buttons or would i still need to log in with family members details and ask them to deauthorize?
From my understanding of the registration process, Amazon use registration for support and security purposes. This is because the Amazon Dot is linked to your credit card details, via your Amazon account. Registration allows you to make purchases verbally, or connect to the other services that Amazon offer.
Unfortunately, you are correct that if the device has been authorised for someone else the only way to de-register it will be to either have them log in and de-register the Dot, or you log into their account and de-register the Dot for them.
The only other option I can suggest is to have your relative call Amazon support. I have found them to be very friendly and helpful in the past, and they should be able to de-authorise the Dot for you.
must easy like computer for every one can use,
How do i take it of setupmode
By downloading the Amazon Alexa App, and following the on screen instructions to activate your dot with a valid Amazon account.
Sweet
How unblock evho dot 3gen
Can you re-register a deregistered device to the same Amazon account?
Yes, I did that multiple times while I was making the video.
I'm pressing down both buttons but I can't get the yellow light to turn on it just lights up as if I'm turning the volume down.. any advice
Hi Hannah, did you try turning the volume on the dot down to zero before you tried pressing the two reset buttons?
I bought a "new" echo 2nd generation which will not connect to wifi & gives a failure code,12:1:107:22:1. Amazon suppoert tells me this means it was reported lost, or stolen. Is there any way to unlock it?
Not that I know of.
Did you buy your Echo directly from Amazon, or a third party?
The reason I ask, is that if you bought your Echo from a third party, that Echo might be a reconditioned unit which could explain why Amazon support are telling you that it has been lost or stolen. If the previous owner (was an idiot) sold their Echo and then reported the unit lost/stolen. When you connected the Echo to the internet, the Echo calls out to Amazon and then promptly locked itself. If thats the case then box up the Echo and return it to the third party asking for your money back.
If you bought the Echo from Amazon, using your Amazon account. If I remember correctly when Amazon send out the Echo, it is pre-assigned to your Amazon account. So they should be able to confirm when and who reported your Echo lost or stolen.
Try using the Amazon Supports chat App, rather than taking over the phone. It might help you get the device swapped out.
Sorry I can't be more help.
Thank you! The "third party" turned out to be a "TURD" party., disappearing off the face of the earth. My "brand new" echo is a paperweight.
Thank you, it turned out (via contacting Amazon) the echo had been shipped & never received at which time they shipped a replacement & placed the one I bought on "lost/stolen" status, so it is a "paperweight"
Hi lektrikbass
Thanks for the update. So after all this pain are Amazon doing to swap out the "paperweight"echo dot for you?
Of I had a amazon echo I would try
whats the point of watching then. lol (no hate)
hard to set up, hard to reset, it work no good, I have lot trouble with Alexa
I had an amazon echo dot that was a friends that I let use my account, I now no longer am friends with this friend, will degrestering be enough to get his echo dot off my account and to stop him using my account?
Yes
Brill thanks for the reply
So there no information no more so i can return in now
Yes you can.
mydoodads thanks
no
Nothing but trouble.
Doesn't work. Same things as usual. It keeps bringing up a blue ring, circling an aqua shade a few times, and then turns the light back off, repeating this over and over. I read that it's my device starting up, but this continued for more than an hour.
It sounds like you might have a faulty device. I would recommend contacting Amazon support. When one of my Dots became faulty Amazon simply swapped out the faulty Amazon Dot.
However, before calling Amazon, I would try the following as it might speed up the swap out process.
1. If your Amazon dot is plugged into an extension lead, try swapping it to a walled mains power socket.
2. USB leads can become faulty, try using a different USB lead.
mydoodads I was afraid of that. I mean, I just got it.
But no worries, I figured out the problem. And then your directions worked perfectly, thank you!
this worked for me thanks! my damn usb cord was faulty!
What was the problem bc I’m having the same issue
It's just if you use ANY other cable other than the one the Echo came with. I didn't even notice I took the wrong one from the plug when I moved to a different room. I hope your issue is just as simple, if not the same one.
mine stayed in orange
I think that it means that your Amazon Dot is either in setup mode or is trying to connect to the Internet.
@@mydoodads yes, your instructions worked, thank you
It is an Echo Dot. It is not an Amazon Dot.
Totally NOT the screen and options on ipad ....thanks anyway this video is worthless...does not match up AT ALL
