That's why living cost and purchasing power matters. Not just salary numbers!
I earn 24 lakhs per year (much lower than 1.5 crore in USA), and certainly enjoy my life to the fullest !! Mere pass gadi hai, bungla hai, bank balance hai, aur maa bhi hai !!🎉🎉🎉 !!!

I rejected just in October a 195k package. Because once you leave India, with 2 kids you dont have the same support system as its not cost effective. So second income becomes tough. Having said that when you leave India and move to any countru you must compare Purchasing Power Patrity. Rather than conversion.
My wife and myself work in India, that too in a Banking Industry and we save significantly. We have 2 long trips, one in India and another abroad, that too with 2 kids.
Hence, before moving you should look at what stage of life you are moving and whats your priorities.

    • @subramanianadaikalam9277
      @subramanianadaikalam9277 5 месяцев назад +5

If you have rejected 195k then your combined salary in India should be more than 55L+ .. it makes sense as you would continue to grow in career and earn more. Young kids would face challenge in adjusting to schools, spouse has to take more time off to manage ... it would be ideal to be bachelor or just married in US for few years and even work before kids go to middle school .. you get more experience, culture, a change but India is developing super fast in the last few years, so living in large city and in gated community would be better.

Everyone has a long career to complete till 62-63 and already very sick and tired. About expenses, anything above 10/15 dollars kicks in alarm. A 100 dollar bill is very pricey.

Jitte ka bhi package hai use 12 se divide karo toh per month salary ajayegi aur uske baad usko 8 se divide karlo.
Toh india ke equivalent paise pata lag jayenge.
    Example: 1.5 crore ka package
    Means 12.5 lakhs per month
Usko 8 se divide karo toh comes out to be 1.56 lakhs.
Aur jo dollars mein prices bataye aapne unhe 10 se multiply krke sahi idea lag raha hai.
    Example maagi 3$ ki hai
    Yaani 30 ₹
    3-4bhk ka rent 2500-2800$

bhai mere ghar pe koi aake kehta hai na ki mera beta ya beti is earning this much package in US/Canada or any other country. The one question I asked is ki unke ghar pe maid aati hai ya khud karna padta hai.:D ::D.. In india may be salaries definately utni nhi hai but we live very comfortably.. 2nd jin logo ko 10 saal se upar ho gya hai job karte, itne me ye samjh aa gya hoga ki job se koi bhi aadmi amir nhi hua aaj tak.. Either you should have your business or You have good knowledge of investments. So investment point of view se india is growing country, it has potential to may be 10X your savings in coming 2-3 decades. So my advice to young people is,, don't blame anyone if you are not able to go to US by any reason. Just work hard, work smart and Invest smartly. If you don't want to consume 2 years in masters, you can't find a well paying job. The best you can do is come to USA on a L-1 visa as an IT professional if you already work for Cognizant, Infosys, etc. - these companies will pay you maybe 50% of what you will get for the same job if you work directly for a US employer. But your Indian degree will not help you get a direct H-1B visa job from a US employer. Compound that 50% haircut over 35 years, and you can figure out how much you lost because you did not want to spend those 2 initial years in masters.

Also will miss parents, relatives, wedding and functions, lot of cons but end of the day money is needed .. people may not return after 5 years because they then think of kids future ...

    You are right.
I lived in USA NJ & San Fransisco and noticed in both places a working class person is able to save 50% if single.
So in order to "settle down" that is where one has time on their hand with money, one has to work for almost 20 years, same as India, that too if you *don't loose your job* . Most Indians, who have gone their with education loan is worse. Of course if you are sent by IT company, at least you have no overheads. But one has to struggle a great deal to have GC sponsors. Until then visa extension, fear of visa rejection, compromised marriages for geen card all these come into picture.
People in India get stuck while commuting to office, while over there people spend time in diastance commute.. be it carl train, BART or path.
And the plight of old people is pathetic, like I have seen my close well educated relatives, other indians who have migrated in 1960, 1970 live in old age homes, as often times their kids marry non indians and living with parents is unthinkable. Unfortunately this is becoming a trend in India as well.
Standard of living or mental peace of a person earning 1.5 cr in *India* is not same as earning 1.5 crs in *USA*
That said, Quality of life in terms of cleanliness, air quality, noise pollution is good.
If one is US citizen and are entrepreneur, innovator, or passionately into R&D, it is a heaven. No one will snatch your work, you will get full credit. Their affirmative action isn't as bad as Indian affirmative action which is license to legally decriminate against merit n hard work.
For rest of mediocre working class where you live doesn't matter, itz same.

Going abroad is not an issue... but one should fix a target ...never go to for never returning.... once you have accumulated 1 cr in Rupee terms you may consider coming back and starting a business ..or investing in the Indian stock market and doubling it in every 3 years.... In India, if you have Initial funds you are the king...

Agree there is NO state tax in TX, but there is ISD tax. Also, states with State taxes have a fixed Sales tax. In TX, sales tax varies from 6.35-11%. NY and NJ has a fixed 8.35 and 7% respectively. House and car insurance prices are all time crazy high.

Domestic help in India should get more salary. Personaly I think it's exploitation of the poorest. It feels like slavery in a modern jacket. We in Europe do our own chores. There is also househelp available but they have a minimum wage like it should be

You are only thinking of savings on domestic help. In India, school expenses and medical expenses will reap you apart. At least school expenses you will be able to manage because you are earning but real problem comes when you retire and medical expenses are there
