I believe you have placed it in the wrong category that Aprilia was intending it to be up against. The Trident, MT-07, CB650R, just to name three. Anyhow, with that being said I still love watching your reviews. Keep up the great work! 👍😎

Thank you. I'm glad you are enjoying the videos!
BTW, Aprilia is the one that put itself in this category (not me), they did it based on power, performance and price (mostly price imho). And I kind of agree with Aprilia, especially with the price, it's 3-4 k more than the "budget" group bikes, that's about a 50% higher price tag. The MT07 which is at €7.3k and Tuono at €11k, it's just not fair to compare the 07 to this. I like the new MT07 way to much to do that. :)
      take care,
      Scott
edit: for €11k, I'd take the MT09SP over this all day long! :)

Congratulations Scott for the video. I also tried the Triumph RS, KTM 890 R and Aprilia Tuono 660 and I must say I agree on every word you say. Just be aware that the 10550 euro of the Tuono includes the sellers additional costs (330 Euro by KTM, 450 Euro by Triumph). However, even as such, the Tuono is no budget bike.

Owned several Ducati in the passed and never had any issues while I had them. Have not pulled trigger on my next bike yet but Tuono 660 scares me with the QC and issues.
What is worst for a motorcycle owner than having his bike parked helplessly in the garage?

Again, spot on Scott. If i may sir, not sure it hits as hard as its "competitor's" the way it

Great review Scott. Love all your content. Always honest and thourogh. Test rode one today and loved it. Only problem is which colour? 🤔 I love the Concept Black version, but there are none available at my local dealer and waiting months to get stock in to New Zealand. They have a brand new Acid Gold in stock and have offered a great deal drive away. It's a polarising colour. You either love or hate it. Which one would you buy? I'm on the fence whether to buy the Gold and love having something different, but not sure after a month, get sick of the colour, or wait 6 months (middle of our winter) for the black at full retail price + on roads 🤷🏾‍♂️

    • @NothingToProve

Hmm...I'm always careful about colors on a bike. It's like picking a girl friend, everyone's taste is different. But, with that said, this color really POPED in the sun, it looked good but then in the shade it was kind drab/boring. So it really depends on your first impression when you saw the bike in this color. Was it "wow that looks good' or "it's ok" or "hmm...I don't know if I like it". Because one year later, you will probably feel the same way as you did when you first saw it in person. At least that has been my experience when buying bikes for myself and I'm on bike #7 right now and loved the red color when I first saw it and still love it today, two years later.
      take care,
      Scott

    • @vinnylopez108
      @vinnylopez108 2 года назад

@@NothingToProve Thanks Scott. My thoughts were the same. At first glance it looks amazing and initially my first choice of the three colours, especially with the sun on it, but looked a bit dull/pearl-lish in the shade. I also feel like it needs the 'a' decal on the front fairing to finish it. Easy fix by putting one on. Kinda looks like a bike that's been dropped and had a new fairing without the decal. It's that particular fairing that looks drab in the different light IMO. Obviously I'm about the looks with this comment, but I loved riding this thing too and it put a big smile on my face. I guess no bike is perfect, so a gripe about colour is trivial. Thanks for your response. I hope to buy one soon. A nice upgrade to the 390 Duke. Take care and keep putting out your awesome content 👌😎

The exchange rate translates to €9,600 here in Germany. So yea, lookin' like a pretty good price!
But the initial offer of a new model usually drops significantly the next year (usually) but that is a lot but to be almost expected in the middleweight group, given the competition in this group.

One thing about that platform under the rear seat. Rear seat actually keeps the rider seat attached to the bike. So once you remove it, nothing holds the rider seat in place. Perhaps if you seat on it it will not slide out of the bike, but you never know. Did anyone at Aprilia think about that designing this? :-)

Hope you'll review the 2021 MT-09 SP soon! That housewife is looking pretty sexy to me now that Yamaha has apparently fixed the handling and throttle response, added some ponies, and put in an IMU (which is a requirement for me for a street bike). With no IMU I unfortunately have to rule out the otherwise impressive Z900, and the Street Triple and 890 Duke are off my list since I feel like they are less comfortable for a tall rider than the MT-09. The 660 Tuono looks underpowered and overpriced in this crowd to me, not to mention the limited number of Aprilia dealers in the U.S.

That's quite a colour scheme on this Aprilia - yellow, orange and black. Does it have a fuel gauge as Aprilia is infamous for not providing them?
The comparison table at the end is good. This little Aprilia seems to be punching above it's weight with only 659cc. The 890 Duke has an approx 30% larger capacity engine so will be a lot quicker. Probably it's nearest rival is the Street Triple although at 765cc it's still going to have more power and is lighter or how about a Suzuki SV650? Is there still a Honda CB650R?

Had 675 street triple R (great handling, a bit too much of a sport bike for my taste, too refined to the point of being boring, engine was a snoozefest, decent in canyons, dreadful around town), 390 duke for wife (that thing was a joke of a bike, kind of fun even though it was way too small and flimsy, and had basically no brakes, was ok for put putting around town, that's about it), hyperstrada 821 (decent engine, great ergos, fun around town, suspension and brakes are a letdown in canyons) now. Had a little test ride on a used 790 and kind of hated the unrefined and edgy agricultural engine, suspension seemed to be too soft as well, but the test ride was too short to judge it well.

Yes, I rode the RS last year when it got updated and I did a video too and did a track day on one the year before. The difference between the two is that the RS is a serious track day weapon and this is a fun machine. When I get on an RS, it's focused, solid, single minded in that it just wants to go fast, period. When I get on the 660, it says to me "let's go PLAY and have some fun" and "oh BTW, we can go fast if you want to too".
So for a commuter/urban bike I'd lean more towards the 660.

It's a pity its just 660cc. At least 800cc and good torque in the lower rpm's and it would be a real contender in the middle class.

How come the trident 660 was not included , that's a bargain there since Japanese bikes are getting pricier

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  2 года назад

Well, I divide the middleweight nakeds into two groups, Performance & Budget.
This is in the performance group for many reasons I explained in the video, mainly being cost. The Trident is in the budget group with the MT07/CB650/Z650/SV650. Which btw, all are cheaper than the Trident except for the Honda.
      ride safe,

@@NothingToProve maybe Aprilia will do a factory version of both 660's which would probably suit the mt09sp better

I know I will be kicked off this planet, but I really hate the Tuono!
It's actually not her fault, but Aprilia's to call her a Naked Bike, when she is not! I'm so annoyed with her and her big sister because of that. Call her what she is, an Allrounder, and I might be able to like her.
The fact that both Tuonos seem to be good bikes makes it even worse.
They should not be compared to bikes like the BMW XRs.
Sorry for being so grumpy Scott, because you know that I like your videos.
    Anyway....
Take care and stay healthy 👍

😁👍 No worries, it's ok to give your honest opinion, I try to do the same with my reviews.
Aprilia has called the Tuono a "naked" bike for almost 20 years now (since 2002), so I don't think they'll change that label. They are the "Ferrari" of motorcycles, so they call a bike whatever they want and get away with it, they just don't sell enough bikes to compete with the "normal" OEMs, so don't worry about them 😉 (BTW - the BMW S1000R has about the same amount of fairings too, so it really comes down to "where does one draw the line" on when it becomes "faired" and not)
      take care,
      Scott

@@NothingToProve Thank you Scott. I knew that you would not bash me for my opinion.
But the hardcore-fans of the Tuono usually take it very personally when I say my opinion about this bike.
It's kind of regular thing in my life. Usually I end up with those confrontations when I find something I just can't stand. Because it's always something that comes with those kind of fans.
      Btw...
It is not the amount of fairings that disqualifies the Tuono as Naked Bike. If that was the case I would have to attack the Ducati even more intense, right? It's the size of the front. We call it "Lampenmaske" in Germany. I don't know the proper english term.
