14:30 first of all, not true. i've done my fair share of going over the speed limit on mine... the mirrors do vibrate, but they're still entirely useable. second of all, when you're going that fast, you're leaned forward and you can't really see out of your mirrors anyway, so it's a moot point. you have to lean back and to the side a bit to even see out of them at higher speeds. when i'm going that fast, i go into a sort of track mode and just assume anyone else weaving through traffic faster than me and coming up from behind is responsible for avoiding me; not the other way around.
I think it's just the way they tuned the bike. Some bikes are all bottom end, some have everything at the top. This bike seems to have sacrificed mid range for bottom and top end pull.
Thank you for your review. Do you know if the Quick Shifter and the additional programming available from the dealer or would one have to order it. In listening you mentioned that the steering was changed to give the bike quicker more aggressive steering. As they made the steering angle steeper that is probably where the 5mm of over all bike length was lost.
Good review. 200$ for Quick shifter and another 200$ for IMU is the price of the accessory alone. I am pretty sure dealer will charge labor on top of that. I was curious that you would say it is 400$ for both including installation. If someone can confirm that, this is a no brainer ...will get one asap.
My understanding is adding those two items, plus the cost to install, makes the bike a couple hundred dollars more expensive than the RS660 here in US. Of course those are standard on the new Factory version! 🥰
10:44 unless you're going to install the quickshifter and IMU yourself (i don't know if that's even possible), you're going to have to pay the dealership to install it. they charge another two hundred bones, so in the real world, the price difference is only $200, not 400.
Why would you compare a 900cc with a 660 or 650 displacement? Price? Then why not throw in cb1000, gsx1000s as well for comparison. Lets compare apples to apples, because looking at price alone is meaningless. This bike is compared to any 650cc, like cb650, z650, sv650, or mt07. New to the motorcycle world, what is reliability/cost of ownership on this looking like compared to say a CB650R or even a Triumph Trident/Street Triple?
Cost of ownership will almost aways be higher with an european motorcycle when you compare it with the japanese competition. The trident should sit between the tuono and the cbr. Reliability is a bit tricky since this is an all new motorcycle (even a new engine). But in general is Aprilia quite reliable (just like ducati nowadays) but once again the japanese competition mastered the inline engines. Therefore should they also be more reliable. If you are looking for a first bike, just pick a Japanese naked bike and be happy. After a while, maybe go fo something else as a replacement or second bike.
I just hope Kawasaki and Suzuki up their game. Yamaha has already given consumers the middle finger with the new MT-07. Kawasaki needs to convert the 650cc twin to a 270 degree crank. There needs to be a Showa BPF up front. Suzuki has the SV650 overpriced. Either lower the price or update the suspension and brakes.
