Those are the og, that bodywork is very clean. Bet it was someone's pride and joy
If it was their pride and joy they would have taken care of it
I love it ! Where is it ? how much ?
@@fluffysheapcircumstances change dumb dumb
you aint gonna go buy it so why even ask questions
man you orange profile pictures are being stingy lol just let the people dream lol gawdayum
Me and my boyfriend just bought this car a week ago! He said he already commented, but I figured I’d say something too. I’ve cleaned up the interior and put it all back together really nice and we’re crazy close to having it back on the road again!
Update?
@@UmmYeahOk car ran rich and timing wasn’t right for the longest time, until the 5m one of the previous owners rebuilt capooted and lost pressure in cylinder 4. Turns out they didn’t tighten the crank pulley right and the timing key completely spun. Almost everything on that motor, including the motor mounts, was hand tight. The trans wasn’t even bolted in to the housing all the way. We bought a 7mge and put that in there as a replacement, it ran great for a couple of weeks but now we’ve got it back in the garage tweaking the electrical because something shorted out a ground in the ecu ): we’ve gotten in touch with a buddy of ours from an electrical place my bf’s shop works with that going to meet with him on Wednesday to go over notes and diagrams we don’t have access to though, so things are looking up!
@@jessicamustain541Thank you. Good to hear the motors still good/useable.
@@UmmYeahOk we sold the old 5m to a guy in Washington, he’s working on rebuilding/repairing it to put in his 70’s celica (: we try our hardest not to waste any of these limited parts anymore!
@@jessicamustain541 That is wayyyy cool! I am so happy you have it and I hope it runs well for you for a long time to come.
I thought that dust was frost or ice at first.
Damn...probably an abandoned storage clean out situation.
Same
I'd bet the dust is from sitting at the auction yard. It's at the end of a row, and sitting in a gravel lot where forklifts drive by all the time, kicking up dust
I have 2 of them. 1 fully restored and the other one is on-going. Had so much fun restoring and made loads of friends because of them.
That was somebody's baby at one point; its definitely worthy of restoration.
I had an 1984 .. it was an amazing car w a straight 6 cyl. Had it in high-school. Everybody loved the supra.. I still have people asking about still to this day 😁
Damn you must have been so cool! xD That would have been a great car to have in high school when I was going in the 2000s must have been great having it in the 80s!
@angry_zergling actually had it in the mid 90's but yeah, it was a pretty popular car in high-school.. everyone fought for shotgun 😁
That giant forklift was hauling ass at the end
That’s what caused all the dust.
His certification is about to expire.
Loader
That is a wheel loader. And when it comes to wheel loaders, that was a small one. I estimate it only weighs somewhere between 15 and 20 metric tons.
Would be a bit steep for a forklift though.
@@Bonde7280 Looks like a 926 or a 930. Although with the fork attachment it basically functions as a forklift but yeah it’s a wheel loader. I work on them all the time they’re awesome machines.
This is my favorite gen of the "supra". I want to own even just the base model of one of these one day
You should definitely get that one, it's clearly in very good shape and the layer of dust on it shows that it was stored inside all that time instead of out in the elements, sure it's going to need some work but clearly whoever had it before knew what they had!! You could easily find a buyer for this either in the states or out of the country without a doubt
That cigarette smell don't come out
Ozone da hell out of it for stubborn smells!?
@@claires1063 Ozone generator will take it out in about 6 hours of running. No problem. I smoke and have a room that smelled like smoke in everything, drapes, furniture, walls, bed etc. Put a powerful ozone generator in that thing for a few days, came back and smoke smell was all gone.
It does,simply swap the interior...
I had an 82 Celica five speed with a carbureted 22r.... It was older than me by a year but that thing was so fun to drive, it would get sideways like nothing!!
back in the 80s HKS used one of these to set records at the Yatabe test track
🤔
First Japanese car to push 300km/h
@@TensionalSpy But not stock, right? Was it some of the group(idk which number) race cars?
@@jerzygadzinowski9138 definitely not stock. Built internals, a specialty twin turbo kit made by HKS with triple blow through carbs. Made over 500hp and was just basically a speed record car, not for racing. Was called the "M300"
I have the book about these cars
Option magazine
That was my 1st car. Except mine was the Notchback with the trunk. So much fun to drive. All these years later, it is still my favorite.
Those hard lines on those older vehicle are so soft and elegant yet defined unlike the bulbs we have today
I heard cars weren't as round because it was easier to replace the parts but I miss the hunky chunky cars..
You don’t like the modern “fUTerisTic” hideous round/oval inflated bloat pod aesthetic either?
I saw one of these at a hobby lobby car meet and fell in love immediately
Get it, no matter what! This styling is just awesome and when it's once restored, it will take over the streets! 😀😀😀👍🏼
I had one of these in Calypso Coral, and I loved it. It hated the heck out of me, but I still loved it.
Sheesh, that’s a beauty in disguise. I got my 1989 Honda Prelude in similar condition but with a wiring mess in the engine bay. Bought the interior parts I needed on the 3G Prelude forums, detailed the hell out of the car, waxed the paint, and as of now it’s my in-town daily. This poor little Supra has a lot of potential :’)
I just bought an 89 Accord in similar condition
Sheesh I've seen an 89 civic in similar condition
Man, I have had an 81 Supra, an 83 and 2 89 preludes. All way more rad and fun than modern cars. Anyone who doesn’t love the 89 prelude doesn’t like to drive. Take care of the old girl.
I had one , i joined a 7mgte bottom end and 6mg head , turbo'd it and made nearly 400hp . I wish i had kept it , they're collectable now .
I have a Mk3.5 as my daily and love it so much. That 2nd Gen would be a sick project for someone. Def need to get those seats on better mounts though.
that would be a really fun daily
Is it reliable enough to have a mk3 supra as a daily? Ive heard a bit about them not being super reliable.
Also, insurance has got to be higher than average, no?
@random_car_guy2424 correct! Mine just hit 180k on the original gasket. It was torqued to spec sometime within five years of ownership. 89 NA automatic but still fun as can be
@@PedroAsfora insurance is about normal for a 89 Toyota in California. AAA lists it as a two door hatchback so it gets a bit of Grace lol
@@DoctorRobair @random_car_guy
That actually sounds awesome! I'm thinking about looking at one in my area that has 170k miles, the owner says it's his daily, your comments have made me a little more comfortable with the idea! Any specific issues I should look out for when checking that one out?
I've had two of those but one I drove for about 17 years and they are the most indestructible fun car you could get. the seats to sit high but they're also very valuable. the shifter functions wonderfully once you figure it out. very well-balanced car and so much fun.
This Supra with pop up headlights is just a masterpiece 🤩🥰
celica
@@joachyntissot6700 This isn't a celica
@@MolkoKillStyle yes it is
@@joachyntissot6700 my bad i always refer to it as 92' supra
@@MolkoKillStyle only became its own car after the 3rd generation, literally called the celica xx in japan.
My aunt's neighbors had 3 of them. 2 red and 1 bright green. One of the red was widebody and the other two was stock body but the green one after asking to take a closer look was tuned with 950 HP.
Would buy that in a heartbeat. Even if it was a Celica GT of the same year I would still buy it.

oh man, that's the absolute bomb. I prefer the celica supras and the MKIII because they just have something unassuming to them
All generations of Celicas are way underrated. People forget the origins of the Supra
I had the Celica GT-S of this generation. It was everything about the Supra but with the 22R.
Muffler and exhaust system manufacturer Kakimoto made a twin turbo version of this car and it was considered one of the fastest cars in Japan.
Definitely worthy of saving as long as you can find or save parts.
Giorgetto Giugiaro designed body. Gorgeous. I remember the first time I saw one back in the day, I thought it was an Italian exotic.
Thanks for sharing, I had no idea Giugiaro was the designer, his Wikipedia page doesn’t attribute it to him. Will you kindly let me know where you discovered that?
That was my first car back in the 80s. So much fun!
The clicking sound when you went through each gear, especially 3-5, was amazing 🤤😊
There's a white celica supra in a apartment complex I pass through a lot, I just had to stop one night and snap some pictures
Try to buy it ?
Just write out a note and leave it on it .
Ive bought LOTS of cars that way .
how many cars? you said lots, how many?
@@detectif1061 Ive bought cars out of peoples driveways for decades .
You basicly are buying a vehicle before its even for sale .
Low tires , out of date registration or no plates can mean the car is ready for a new home .
If You want a specific number , I ll have to figure it out .
I guarantee there is NOT a celica Supra in an apartment you pass through! Why lie to make yourself look better online? There is either a Celica or a supra as theyre 2 different models of Toyota but not 1 model. Might as well call your cadillac ats a ctsv.
@chasenreno11 thanks for telling everyone here you know nothing about old Toyota's. What's in this short is a Celica Supra. The Supra was a sport model of the Celica originally. Toyota and Honda have dome similar in the past.
Buy it. Super clean bodywork and mainly complete. These will going up and up in value. Not really cherished in the US, but the rest of the world - where they all rust out- that's holy grail condition!
those rims are beautiful
pretty sure they are xxr 527, but don't quote me
They were great, slow but great. Once the 86.5 supra turbo came out, everyone forgot about these and rightfully so
They weren't slow at the time.
As a Gen X kid, I saw two of these race each other on a rural California highway. They were evenly matched as they raced off into the sunset. It’s one of my favorite car memories from my teen years. But yeah, once the Mark III was introduced, I wanted one of those instead, but now I’d prefer a Mark II.
Man I'd take that car on so fast. It would be my new project for sure for sure
The lost super classics, love the ones from like ‘78 and ‘79. Unbelievable style
That'd be a killer build!
Those were soooooooooooo much fun. I’m old. Obviously. But when I think of Supras that’s what I think of. Man that takes me back. ❤❤❤❤
Man it has a whole table as the rear bumper.
Ong i would be chillin rollin up on the bumper
Da better to brake check yo ass my child.. . (Big bad wolf voice) 🐺 or was it da witch??🧙
My dad owns a shop and there’s this sweet old lady who has one of those they are absolute nightmare fuel for any mechanic 😂
I heard they weren’t very reliable, any truth to that? What kind of problems has your dad encountered?
if I was in the States, I'd buy that.
I have a 2002 Toyota Celica. Love the style. It smelled like cigs also when I bought it.😳😊
When I first saw these as new I thought it was a Lotus. This is a rare Toyota - not powerful, but very lightweight compared to the following generations of overweight sports cars coming from Toyota. I say this as a MkIV owner since 1994 and still have one. This car with some more modern power would really amaze the kids today.
My favorite car ever.
My late uncle had one of these brand new back in 83 . I remember the day he bought it 😢, brings back alot of good memories. R.I.P Uncle James.
Was fortunate to own one at 16. Now 30.
When I was young that was one of my favorite cars.. those years of the Supra were really nice..
Please buy it if it is still available. That one is Worth the $$.
This generation will always be my favorite. The body is gorgeous, and the interior/gauges were sext for the time period. If I ever get the chance I'd love to own one.
We had an 85 in twice blue. Paid 11k for it in 87 with 10k miles. Took it across the country on one trip and put it on a ferry to Victoria Island on another from Cali. Nice 6 Cyl. I haven't seen one in a long time on the road.
I had a blue-blue '85 too. Snagged it in clean running driving condition for the princely sum of $650 about 15 years ago. Got it at a Portland area U-pull-it. Wouldn't pass local smog but I lived outside the area. I never liked the 'standalone' Supra, just the Celica-based cars. It was beautifully balanced, it devoured twisty backroads @ 70-75. *Never* should have sold it. I should still have it, it would be packing a 1UZ now ☹ I've also had an '85 Celica GT-S and an '87 factory 5-speed Cressida. One of my current summer rides is an '89 MR2 S/C. Love 80's Toyos!
I love my 83 Mk2 bit damn it’s hard to find stuff for this car 😫
It’s hard to find stuff that’s for sure. I have a 82 Celica GT that came with all of the GTS goodies. Brown on Brown, Factory Fender flares, Fatory Recaro interior etc. When it comes to interior plastic, I have come to the conclusion of having things made from carbon fiber or Fiberglass and having them vinyl wrapped. As for the rear bumper cover as well as the front, have carbon fiber ones made and paint them. Carbon fiber hatches are available for $1K. What someone needs to do with a low mileage car is to take off anything rubber related and have them remade
Nobody even noticed it’s got a v8 1ug swap 🤣
@@tinytattoomike7943 bruv that’s a 5MGE

Old soldier was looking pretty good with 160k! ( Back in the 70's and 80', that was a hell of a lot of miles! ) They're easy to work on, and they drive great! Dooo ehht!
Had a chance to buy a silver one back in 2005 for $1k. It was an automatic but it was literally a perfect car with no issues and the lady that owned it took really really great care of it. I chose to buy a 94 dodge intrepid instead because I thought it would be more reliable 😅
dodge more reliable than toyota?!?!!

Ngl, that's a beauty waiting for restoration

I've got an 82 that's been sitting for years. Digital dash, trip computer, all sorts of cool stuff for the 80's
Back when Supra is just a higher trim for Celica
Nah, even the generation before this, which was the first Supra, it was more than just trim. Extended wheelbase, different suspension/brakes, and most importantly, it came with a six-cylinder, not a four.
@@blisterbrain still technically a trim, although they did separate chasis with the mk3 s and mk4 c
@@mitch5300 Yeah, automakers are pretty ambiguous when it comes to trim level vs. different model. Lexus ES250 was a Camry, except it wasn't.
Q: "Is that a Pontiac, an Oldsmobile, or a Buick?"
A: "Yes."
The engine and body make the two completely different cars.
Just glad they split them to be more dramatic in 1986 because good GOD the MKIII looks amazing.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I really like those cars when I was in high school. My buddy was an auto detailer and when he was detailing one I got to drive it when we were almost done. Very cool car
My 80s adolescent 'trophy' car! The MKII came out when I was in high school and quickly made an impression, turning my head each time I saw one.
Just after graduating, I finally got a used red/black 1984 P-spec. A well-made, planted and reliable GT car. One could drive 8 hours at a stretch - those superb 8-way 'mouse fur' seats cradled and held you in place like Velcro.
Not "fast" fast, especially by today's standards, but for that era, quick, sufficient, balanced. A superb "drive not-so-fast car, fast". All-in driving. Allowed all the pushing you were capable of and rescued you if you went too far. Fun, sporty, yet confidant and practical daily driver.
Later, I had two successive MKIIIs - the late 80s targa top turbos. Much more power, but also much heavier. Not as easy to toss around - and super noodly with the roof off!
Very fond of the MKII. It exceeded my youthful expectations and I'm grateful I had the opportunity. Still an all-time fav - thanks for the look!
Always been one of my attainable dream cars. I'd love to wrench on one and just cruise around local car shows.
Luv them 2nd gen supras. Had an 82. No fender flares that year & i prefer.
Had the privilege of driving one back in the 90s. What a blast!
This was my dream car when I was a kid and before I had a license to drive… This is a Total Classic and an Amazing car…
My Gram had like 3 of these back in the day…
I always wanted a 4th gen supra. I love those headlights and styling.
i had the 1982 one in red with black fender flares! i loved it! What a great sport car!
i had 1 of these back in the day .. 1 of my favorite car
Just love's these 80's and early 90's🇸🇪❤️
Loved these Supras, and the old Conquests/Starions.
I had a Cavalier Z24 hunchback, umm, hatchback, and that was the dog's balls.
Both the Mark II Supra and the Conquest look awesome. They scream 1980s Japanese design.
My favorite era of Supra I save every single unloved one I can or even the parts it is one of the many cars I love from the 80’s and back
That is my favorite 80s toyota and also a dream car of mine. It's a cool car
That's mint for an 80 model vehicle haven't seen one of them in years
This thing deserves to be on the road. Or atleast in a museum. It's one of the best looking cars of the early 80s, for my taste anyway.
Definitely look into restoring it. 80s celicas are extremely hard to come by. I myself have an 81 celica gt with a automatic transmission, but i still love it ❤
The problem is they're hard to come by, which means parts are even harder. This has been sitting for a VERY long time, which means it might be better for someone else to have a crack at the parts to keep theirs running.
*_I remember my dad owned one of these as well… if he didn't sell his damn cars I would have been driving it 🥹_*
I almost bought one that had all terrain tires and a brush guard on it! No matter what direction you go with them, they're a beast of a car. :3
Favorite car honestly.
Such a good driving car.
I had one in 1990 after I finished college these were great cars
I had one of these over a decade ago and I loved it. Great handling car with the factory LSD
I rode in one of those once. Turbo kicks in and pushes you back into your seat 😂 I love this car
my friend in high school had won ,a silver one it was a stick shift in mint condition ,I used to love that car
I had one myself back in the late eighties. Mine was a dealer trade in from a woman who was replacing it with a new model. I really did love that car
A great restoration, a classic I would invest in
I used to own an ‘85 Supra. What an amazing sports car that was!
I passed on a new 82 in favor of an 80 RX-7. I enjoyed the heck out of the RX-7, but I always wondered if I would have enjoyed the Supra more and it would have lasted longer for sure. Rotaries are mostly done at around 130K. Mine was done at 144K.
Toyota celica supra
My new favorite name
My first car was an 85 Celica that my neighbor gave me when I was 16, i loved that thing
Oh I love the Mk3’s! My stepdad had one when I was a kid, it was fresh off the lot, sexy ‘85 in a deep blue metallic with 5 speed. I hated him but man did I love his car!
That car deserves love and attention
The MK2 and MK3 Supras are underrated. They’re personally my favorite Supras. Yeah MK4s are fast and Iconic but I guess I’m just a fan of pop up headlights
Speaking from personal experience, these were quick and cornered like nothing else. Truly would be a worthy project.
My first new car was a 1988 Honda Accord with pop up headlights and a 5 speed.
I loved that car!
it looks just like my dads before we lost it... he had 7 spoke gold rims but wow, what memories
My fave generation of Supra by and far!!
My uncle had one before he died. I prefer the 80s model over the mark4
I recent just seen one on the road in Kentucky. Beautiful car and looked pretty damn well maintained.
Loved this era supra celica. Thats a great car.
Saw a clean one of these while dropping of a classic Mercedes-Benz in IL for body work. I somehow couldn't stop walking around it wanting to buy it 😂 Obvious but important what you said about the later generations not being a thing without these as the base. You got my sub 🫡 Addicting videos haha
This car is the iconic Supra back in the daysCool dude
Looks like most of the hard work is done , I'd buy that thing in a heart beat.
I had a Mark III Supra, 1989 model. It was Super Red II over gray cloth interior, Targa top, automatic/non-turbo....that was THE best car I've ever owned! 😢
Mk2 Celica Supra we’re the first supras I seen before the mk4 they were mad common where I grew up. Still see like 3 on the road. A guy out here 2JZ swapped his and was drifting it back in 14-15 in Fresno.
