- In this video, I talk about the top 10 players of Survivor to have never won the game. I do plan on following this up with a couple more Top 10 Survivor Player lists in the near future as well.

It just baffles me how Cirie got to the final 6 in Game Changers anyway
Same I guess they thought that she would never win a final four or three challenge so they kept her around until they can get rid of her. And when she was voted out Jeff even said there were no votes for her. I often wonder who would have gotten voted out I don't know if it has been revealed

The smartest and most strategic move of Rob Cesternino is that he never won yet made a whole career of talking about survivor. Some people have won (remember "only $600,000 after taxes") but then spent it all on random things and have nothing to show, however Rob found a way to turn nothing into the job that almost every survivor fan wishes they had.
I felt so bad for Malcolm in Game Changers. You know how bad he wants to win.
Yeah I wonder if Denise watches His seasons and feels bad for him.
Hear me out but considering the likes of Rob, Tyson and Parv are all retired but I think survivor 50 should be a best to never win season. 20 of the best and closest to win players compete where one of them finally will right their wrong.

I don’t really see how Spencer could have done anything more in Cagayan. He was dealt a really awful hand and made more than the most of it. In second chance he just didn’t realize the threat of Jeremy until too late. I would have probably put him second place.
FairPlay is so underrated, he got the brand of “not a great player just memorable for the grandma lie” but he was very impressive in pearl islands. I wish he didn’t quit in fans vs favorites so we could have seen him again in a season like HvV

Russell's gotta be top 10 in my opinion. The best way to evaluate a Survivor player is their first game, with a group of people that don't know them; that's the purest form of Survivor and what the game was really made for. Any time they return to the game is much less significant to their ranking, and Russell's Samoa game is easily enough to put him in the top 10 for me.
Everyone also forgets he played back to back without his season being aired and he didn't know he lost and that he needed to manage the jury better. He has said that if he knew he lost and why he would have played hvv different. He thought he won though, so he played the same game.
I completely disagree. Look at Kelley Wentworth for example. In her first season, San Juan del Sur, she demonstrated no strategic prowess or promise as a player. Fast forward to season 31 where she pulled off one of the best idol plays and then proceeds to find another one while demonstrating a strategic mind that kept her in the game
If Russell said that darkpassenger, then his play on Australian survivor makes no sense as he played the exact same idol hunting/villain role.
Beyond that, his reputation precedes itself, which is why he was able to do well on HvV since no one had seen his season. I strongly believe he will never do well again because everyone knows his game is cut throat and manipulative and not in a way that people respect. His reputation precedes itself. MAYBE on a legends season he could do ok with lots of big targets, but even that I’m not convinced of.
Same way in season 20 Russell deserved to win both those seasons he played survivor like no one before him ever had and just for the looking for the idol without a clue and finding it 2 time's in season 19 nobody even though about doing that and it's really a damn shame that he wasn't in the game changers season just for that is just wrong Russell deserved to win both those seasons especially 19 and if they jury was so pissed at him in season 20 then Parvati should've won because Sandra didn't do a damn thing to deserve to win season 20 imo
@@kwads1909 He was doomed from The start in Australian survivor just because of him support for trump but if you look Tony played just like Russell in both of his season he won Russell game was not all cut throat just one time he turned on his alliance from day 1 and that was in season 20 when he voted out Danielle in season 22 Russell tribe trowed The challenge just to get rid of him when they we're dominating Rob tribe that was stupid move to do it so early in the game and Russell could've saved himself if he would've turned on his alliance but he didn't so he went to redemption island one more thing the Russell Hantz you seen on survivor is not who he is in real life he's a great person I talk to him all the time

I would put Ozzy in top 10, just because of how close he’s come. In Cook Islands, he lost to Yul by one vote, and in South Pacific, he probably would have won it all had he won the last immunity challenge. As well as the fact that he always makes it past the merge.
It doesn't matter how close he was. In Cooks, his entire rep is keeping immunity out of Raros hands. In Micronesia, he made an alliance, and than got blindsided with an Idol. In SP, he lost his ally than threw a hissy fit and than won a bunch of RI duels.
Ok, my point still stands. He came really close to winning twice and to me, (and most people), that matters a lot.
My problem with Ozzy is that he always plays emotionally instead of strategically. And most of his strategic moves he planned either backfired or failed.
@@isaakberghe837 Doesn't matter. Ozzy still came damn close to winning twice. Frankly, he's probably the rightful winner of Cook Islands the way Cirie is the rightful winner of Micronesia.
Agreed. Consistency is more impressive than a one time strategic run to me. The fact that he should be a winner, given that he got screwed by multiple twists at the end in Cook Islands alone makes him an all time non winner, as well as how in all his seasons he's made the merge

@@parthshah4069 BLM made this list on the top 10 non winning players. Hayden is easily one of the best players to ever play, even if it was more shown on big brother than survivor. Even on survivor, his timing for his move against Tyson was probably optimal timing, he just couldn't get enough people on board, which ironically is Ciera's fault.

Pretty shocked Jonathan Penner didn’t even get a mention. Penner did a great job in Season 25 and showed he could play a more current game. Penner (when not getting me evacuated) seems to find his way close to the end game.

Impossible to get past the fact he threw the vote away on abi when Jeff went home. If he knew what was going on he could’ve kept that alliance together and maybe had the numbers

i’m actually surprised you don’t think that Cirie wins EI when your Survivor RUclipsr peers have all said they would have, i don’t normally believe reunion votes but like it’s clear that she wins. they even said that she would’ve beaten anybody. Aras wanted to go to the end with her and he even he said she wins. she wins Micro, it’s literally been confirmed by the jury. people act like she wouldn’t win GC...but as like one of three players that fit this mold....she would’ve won, it’s like Tony, an established legend, winning an all winners season. the jury has also said she wins if she’s there. she literally wins on legacy because of all the times she didn’t win. you know how you made that prediction for Amanda....well if JT kept Cirie and they took out Colby, Tom, and James (that injury would still likely happen)......they be in great position and you know they wouldn’t give away the idol if she was around.....Cirie is the best player to never win. just because you made it to the end doesn’t make you better especially if you lost and there was a jury member where if they got to the end they win....why do you vote people off? BECAUSE THEY ARE THREATS TO WIN!

Like, what if Rudy was with Richard and Kelly in the final tribal council of Borneo? Would the jury switch their votes to Rudy or would they stick to Richard?

Thank god he didn't put Ozzy in the top ten. In my opinion his first season he was a golden boy and even I liked him but after that he just got so arrogant. He played a pretty good game in South Pacific, but god his attitude. But Yau Man totally should have been in top ten.
Hey, I love the videos! Could you do a video of the 20 most likely returnees regardless of the theme that production would love to have back? Also, in the opposite spectrum, could you do a video of players that will never come back? I know there’s some details of what players did that would exclude them, but maybe you could do a video that breaks down why specifically certain people aren’t getting asked back or that are banned? If Coach says "I lied and Manipulated" then he wins the game as he played one of, if not the, best runner-up game in Survivor, Coach in Tocantins, everybody hated him yet he still maneuvered his way to Final 5, Coach in HvV, would have made the Merge with Courtney and Sandra making the jury, if Sandra doesn't lie to Russell. HOW IS COACH NOT IN THE TOP 10?!!!

I'm not sure Coach would have won even then. Someone told me that Rick actually changed his vote to Coach because he felt he heard honesty. I didn't feel like Coach threw it away then, though it's hard to tell, as I wasn't paying too much attention to Sophie, whom I was expected to get no votes while I thought it was Albert who might have a chance of beating Coach.

Malcolm and Ozzy are definitely the top 2 ppl who I was disappointed that they never got a win. I wanted Malcom to win in FvF2 and Ozzy should have won his 1st season let alone redemption Island when he won all but the final challenge.
I am a huge Malcolm fan and respect the games of Wentworth, Spencer, Amanda, and others, but Domenick played either the best or second best runner up game ever and should easily be number 2. He was the dominant player in his relationship with Wendell and controlled the entire game after his first tribal council. he played one of the best strategic games ever and was able to bring players like Donathan and Laurel into the fold which was displayed in final tribal. He dominated and controlled the entire game especially post merge, having his incredible and needed fake idol play be the reason he lost. He is so underrated in this list as he really deserved the win over Wendell. The other player who should be in line with or even higher then Dom is Russell. I see he's on the honorable mention list with people critiquing his social game, but in Samoa, down 8-4 at the merge, he brought the difference to 6-4, then flipped Shambo and Fincher which was an incredible social play and dominated the game from start to finish even when he was in the minority. He changed the game in finding idols, playing the best strategic game ever at that point and really only lost to a bitter jury who was mad with how he dominated the game and voted them out in the way that was needed for him to win. In HvV he played another completely dominant game where he controlled the entire game once he got Rob out, and the Tyson boot being one of the best social moved and idol plays ever. He also flipped when he needed to in the Danielle boot to further his control and power. Both Dom and Russell should be in the top 3.
This isn’t about absolute dominance, it’s about actual skill and potential to win the game.
Dom should be Top 3 IMO, but Russell I dropped him because of how horribly he played the social game in HvV and then tried to do the same thing in Australian Survivor and flashed his idol and went out with it around his neck.
Your Top 10 is legendary. Here for Aubry. We need to add 10 more players for Season 50. I swear that would be better than WAW.

Gotta say, Mike White is a really good player. He never had any threat of going home his entire season, and was in control without being a strategic threat. Its sad that he has very little chance to ever win because he's already a millionare. That's a textbook definition of a best player who will never win. Guess he's wasnt on this list because he hasn't played a second time, and we are not sure how good he is at playing from the bottom.
His chance of winning was pretty good though. He had several jury votes.

They should to do an OLD SCHOOL SEASON. I really wouldn't care if its players from multiple seasons. As long as there is no winners on the cast

I think Terry Deitz and Cirie are also winners in my book. Also Kelly Wentworth is great and so is Devins. A very underrated one in my opinion is Jonathan Penner.

Three of them have only done well on one season, and it wasn’t super memorable. James wasn’t good on any of his seasons.
I can't get over the fact that if Candence doesn't flip on the heroes at F9 of Heroes vs. Villians she most likely becomes the first and only 3-time FTC player.

Maybe this is a hot take, but i feel like Ozzy is an underrated social player. Yes people say he's cocky, but I feel like he still stays in the good graces of almost everyone. In Cool Islands I feel like he did a better job than Yul at creating relationships with the Raros that made the merge

I'm kinda surprised by most of this. About half the top 10 I agree with, the other half I think almost all the honorable mentions would be better. If both returned today, Rob c most certainly beats Russell. But analyzing them as players who didn't win with what they've given us, I think Russell hands down is a top 5 and above Rob c. Sure his redemption island and au stints did him a disservice (similarly to jt on both his returns). I am glad to see Amanda placed high as I feel she gets shit on a lot. Definitely agree on Cirie being #1.
The only way Cirie goes to final 3 in GC is if Aubrey goes out at 6 bcuz Tai only plays idol for himself and keeps the other and everyone is immune except Aubrey and Cirie. Then at 5, Cirie or Sarah goes out bcuz Tai is gonna okay his other idol for himself again, if Sarah goes out then maybe just maybe at 4, Culpepper is still blinded by his rage towards Tai and takes out Tai instead of Cirie and takes her to 3.

Amanda Kimmel’s best season is HvV, even though it’s the only one she doesn’t make it to day 39. That season is so full of experienced players making dumb moves. For a huge chunk of the run she is the ONLY person with a functioning brain (not counting the evil pairing of Parv and Russell)
Why are you so convinced Cirie couldn’t beat Aras? I think she could’ve gotten Shane, Danielle, Courtney, Bruce, and even Sally.

Super eloquent and thoughtful video. A true fan. One thing I do think is off is your analysis of Cirie- I think she wins Panama against anyone besides Terry. I also think someone could argue that you have Malcom too high just being that’s he’s never actually made it to a final tribal. He and Spencer are similarly over confident to me but I think Spencer is able to minimize his threat level in a way that Malcolm has never really been able to do even in Philippines. Having said that tho awesome video and I really appreciate your approach to the game analysis of individual players. Particularly intelligent was your analysis of a players’ likeliness to win a given season, which people rarely consider with players like Russell Hantz. Being the most strategically dominant player in a given season doesn’t mean your the most likely to win and you broke that down super well.

In no scenario can Cirie get to a FTC. She's too limited in challenges yet she's too convincing and persuasive with her mouth to where she's the perfect boot on day 38. She had the perfect micro challenge for her to come out on top too. still a survivor legend though.
I think Ozzy and Malcom are overated however Ozzy in some other universe is a 2 time winner, had one person changed their vote from Yul to Ozzy he wins and Ik he wouldn’t go back to South Pacific had he one but these r 2 different scenario, had he won that final immunity he wins again

Ozzy should not be an honorable mention. He got screwed out of a likely win in Cook Islands by last-second production interference, and he was one immunity challenge away from easily winning South Pacific.

now that i think about it, rob got such an unlucky draw with tribes in all stars. chapera had 2 non-strategic players in tom and sue and unproven underdogs with amber, rob, and alicia. he's the only one that had a clear target.
Russell is a top 10 player even if you count Winners
If the legacy advantage wasn't in season 34 Brad might win the game. Sarah goes home I can see Aubrey and Tai voting out Cirie at 5. Brad is gonna win final 4 regardless he votes out Aubrey and takes Tai. Most likely wins the game we seen Tai at Final Tribal Council just fall apart and Troyzan was viewed as Brad sidekick.
Personal opinion: non winners like these are better than winners because they get voted out for being too dangerous that it makes it way harder for these players to get far in the game and even win.

Although Russell is a very good player, I don't think he will ever win. I think that Samoa and partially HvV were his only chances to win and he didn't do that. My reasoning for thinking that is because now that everyone who has ever seen the show knows his gameplay, and they will most likely get rid of him fast because they know his ways and they don't want to run the risk of his manipulation breaking apart the alliances. Also, even if he were to make to the end, I don't see him winning because of how villainous he really is. I think he would get some votes from the people who realize that he plays a good game, but not enough to win. I think the only time I could see him winning is an all villain season.

Guy 1 and Guy 2 the fact she was the close to winning cannot he ignored? She would have swept the jury if only Jeremy hadn’t won immunity and probably would have the most votes for a woman at FTC
@@MegTalksGlee I think they would have voted her out even if Jeremy would have lost. SHE had to win, it's not just that Jeremy had to lose. Plus, she was constantly lost throughout the game and relied on immunity to get by, had little agency, and when she finally lost immunity, was voted out. Almost none of her plans worked. When she wasn't tagged in many of the votes, it had little to do with her minimizing her threat level, but instead because they were preoccupied with other things. She's not a bad player but her Edge game is actually better to me as she showed more agency in the game for the most part.

Top 10 Best Players To Never Win Not Named Cirie Motherfucking Fields
Dom has become one of the most overrated players ever. Yes, his game was super impressive but I think people assign way too much strategic credit to him. He played an actively bad early game, which resulted in his name being an option in the first 3 days of the game. Socially, yes, he builds the alliance with Laurel and Donathan but then actively loses them as main allies especially Laurel with his actions at final 11.
Again, he gets way more strategic credit than he deserves. The endgame dominance of the duo was because of Wendell’s move at the final 10 where he gets Kellyn and Laurel to vote against one another at the split tribal. Dom had nothing to do with that by his own admission Wendell ran the split tribal vote which was imo an even better move than Dom’s idol bluff at 6.
I think people love Dom as a tv character which is fair he’s an amazing narrative but they confuse Dom the character with Dom the player. I think he’s very good but I honestly think his game was far more reliant on Wendell’s connections with original Naviti and Dom’s social game according to post game GI retrospectives was abysmal at points.
Wendell deserved to win, his social connections allowed their domination as a duo
I believe that Wentworth should be swapped with Spencer as she stood more of a chance of winning Cambodia that he did as he was never going to beat either Jeremy or Wentworth. She is also a great social and idol player, and obviously a physical threat.
He doesn't consider just one season. It's about how likely they are across multiple seasons of different casts. Being more likely to win one season doesn't mean you're more likely to win other seasons or seasons in general.
But spencer played strong games in Cagayan and Cambodia, and Wentworth played a better game in Cambodia, but a weak game in SJDS
@@luketurner6312 Wentworth played a worse game in Cambodia and Spencer's Cagayan game is overrated. Like Kelley in Cambodia, he had little agency, failed at almost everything, was manipulated, lost a good premerge position, and only made it far after the merge because there were other threats that were bigger than them there not because they allowed them to be but because those players were either good in their own right or simply were had better luck. Both Kelley's Cambodia and Spencer's Cagayan games are overrated but they did show signs of being good players because of the way they think. To me, how good a player is is based on their thought process not results, but how good their season is is based on thought process and results. Luck can make a bad move turn out well or a good move turn out bad, so I look at what they should have done rather than simply how it turned out.
@@guy1nguy2 so do you think all thought process can be in the show? This is not a good argument. You won't really know what each of them are thinking. You might see some of it but not all and maybe sometime none.
I have no particular order for my top 10 but... Coach, Cirie (she is not #1 or top 5 to never win for me, but best to never make the end? Yes.), Brad Culpepper, Ozzy, Tai, Chrissy, Aubry, Amanda, and Russell or Dom are #1 to never win in my book.
Wentworth and Ciera (before their third seasons) are worthy of a debate here as well.
Dishonourable mention: Skupin. Bad person, but you cannot say he is a bad player.

@@parthshah4069 Malcolm's problem is he does not know how to align himself with the right people. Denise is the only alliance he has ever had that had anything worth playing with. Every alliance he makes is with players who are too similar to him in personality and physical ability, but with the exception of Denise almost all of his allies are deadweight strategically, which leads to his downfall. Despite all that though, I feel I would put him on the list after a rewatch of phillipines... I just am not 100% sure, probably not.

@@Bizzybanks24 yes, 100%. They can at least manage their threat levels in one of their seasons enough to get to the end. Cirie cannot manage her threat level, has zero challenge prowess, even with a fire-making tiebreaker, and cannot adapt to those hindrances by finding advantages. She is an amazing strategist with incredible social ability, but survivor is more than just those two things.

Good list, I would flip Malcolm and Amanda. I think Spencer is too high, I would swap out either Aubry or Domenick for Andrea.

Kid Amnesiac i can see why u would think kelley is overrated, but she has to make top 20. her second chances game was one of the best games in history. and playing with her dad ruined her game in blood vs water 2. and then all of the returnees stood no chance in eoe and she made it the furthest out of all the returnees.
I think Russell Hantz definitely should have been on the list and Deitz should have at least gotten a mention

you mentioned how Tai and Aubry would flip....ummm. Cirie would STILL wouldve made it to the end, they would make the agreement with the boys....Brad made it clear he wanted both Tai and Aubry gone....in terms of the GC game....you could argue that Tai and Aubry were doing more than Cirie....yes Troy and Tai had idols but if there was no LA and Cirie makes past the vote.....if Aubry and Tai wanted to get to the end. they don’t flip on Cirie until 4....then fine. but again.....Brad was not going to the end with Tai. sooo Cirie was in a good position no matter what
