I think Steve is drastically underrated. He understands positioning better than 99% of big brother players and that can’t be understated
I really love Steve’s winning game, if I ever played Big Brother this is the game I would try to replicate
Dan being at #1 on this list gives me life. This is a very solid list and even if I disagree with a few picks, I respect your justifications.
After BBCan10, I feel like I'm willing to reward versatility and playing from the bottom over just complete dominance. Players like Cody, Hayden, Drew, and Derrick make it to the end never facing any real adversity and I doubt their ability to climb back to the top if their power structure ever crumbles. Yeah, you can give them credit for making a power structure that would never crumble in the first place, but how commendable is that strategy when you're Cody who's forming mega-alliances months before the show or Derrick recognizing how fundamentally broken BOB is which turns into the same comp beast, pawn vs target strategy week-to-week. Even some players in the 20-10 range displayed more facets of their strategy and ability to respond to specific threats than those players tbh.
Exactly!! I totally agree, BBCAN10 made me totally respect a players who face adversity and still get to the end and win. I genuinely think putting Derrick on ANY season other than 16 (and obviously 22), he would NOT do that well. I don't think he's a bad player, but he got so lucky with having a cast that had no sense of autonomy.
@@TheCrusherofice yea I agree there is some luck that plays into Derrick's strategy being succesful, namely the pathetic opposition on Bb16. Worth noting that the BOB section of BB17 was actually fun to watch cause the cast was generally a lot more strategically savvy. Imagine Derrick trying to form the mega-alliance on 17 cause Vanessa would destroy that power structure the first chance she gets.
I wasn't sure what Meranian Review was getting at in saying that Derrick's strategy has been repeated over and over again when really we're only seen it twice thus far. Paul and Tyler never actually form mega-allainces - Tyler kept infiltrating the opposing side into making the worst moves while Paul maintained personal relationships while not formerly making a large alliance. Derek's strategy worked on Bb22 cause Cody had months to make the conncections for his mega alliance while the Cookout of Bb23 were dedicated to the moral mission rather than replicaring whatever strategy Derrick made.
Well I mean Dan and kinda Andy are in the top 5 so he does see that playing from the bottom, facing adversity and then winning as a good thing
LOL Drew lost his early game alliance, and was in an awkward and unstable spot most of the way. He is a weird example.
Hayden faced adversity. He was stuck in Final 4 with basically a showmance (Lane and Britney) who take each other to the end over him.
It seems you are implying Dan faced a ton of adversity but literally the only adversity he faced was the early weeks being a bit on the outs due to Brian, but even then there were others (Steve, Angie, Brian) in much worse spots than him which gave him plenty of time to navigage that situation safely.
@@phobiccobra991 Andy was NEVER on the bottom. He was part of the dominant alliance the first half of the game with Amanda in charge, and used her as a shield, while being in a total power position due to his connection with her. Then he took over as leader of the Exterminators alliance that got rid of Amanda and usurped the whole power structure. He was never once in a bad spot. Even his own week on the block vs Aaryn he stayed in a unanimous vote.
great list. the only big change i would make is moving steve up to around the 8-12 range. he planned out how he wanted to play before the season, executed his plan near perfectly, and communicated his gameplay super well to the jury. as long as he survives the early game, he probably does well every time
Totally agree, comparing him to players like Ian and Cody (16) who knowingly brought the best player of the season to the end out of complete loyalty, Steve recognized who the best player was very early on when everyone thought it was Shelly. He knew how to adapt by latching on to Vanessa and put on an act of fake loyalty until the final 3. I kind of doubt his consistency cause since he's already shown how slimy of a player he can be which would affect his trust level on a return, so I might just barely leave him out of the top 10.

Steve is not never good socially if we're being completely honest. If your own ally which was Johnny Mac says your game is a wreck then your game is a wreck. He also benefitted from having some luck in comps. Ex: Final 9 and 4 HOH, you could even argue Final HOH but I don't take that one away from him. Steve is a solid player but he's not a very good winner
Having Boogie even above #17 is just, absolutely brain breaking. On BB2, the pawn literally leaves because him and his side of the house piss everyone off so much. On BB7, he legit played to lose with Dr. Will and trying to get him to the end. And finally, on BB14, he legit actively allied with a social pariah and still pissed everyone off. This is just, complete child's play.
Absolutely this, the fact that people still believe that he deserved to win next to Erika is laughable
@@franmartinez1682 Can't really say either deserved to win over Janelle, Will, Reyes, James- the whole 9 yards. As Boogie played for Will to win, Erika played for him to win.

Boogie is good too. Will didn't carry Boogie. Boogie made some strategic moves and convinced more people to do Chilltown's bidding.
@@franmartinez1682 I am not high on Boogie but I don't think Erika deserved to win over him. Her entire game was one impressive move, convincing Janelle to boot Will. That is literally her entire game, the rest basically sucks. And booting Danielle was super dumb and indefensible and rightly lost her any respect from the jury. Booting Chicken George at 5 was also super dumb considering he was the only one she beats in a jury vote at that point, or literally in the entire jury phase. She knew Janelle, Will, Boogie all destroy her in a jury vote and still sent Chicken George out to make herself totally unwinnable and didn't care. Chilltown ran that whole season, even if Will was clearly the stronger half of the duo.
Way too low on Steve, and way too high on Kaycee imo. Steve was in good with almost everybody at final 9 which is more can be said for a lot of other people above him, he didn’t have to depend on winning comps back to back with his shownance like Michie for example. Kaycee also gets very lucky with the hacker twist happening, and also her happening to ally with (one of) the best modern big brother players, and she’s also really messy on the challenge as well so imo there’s a lot more to dislike than like with her
I agree with you on Steve being way too low, but Kaycee managing to get to the finals the 3 times she's been on the Challenge is an insane feat. I know that it's a completely different show, but considering how eh, emotionally unstable the players tend to be, it's crazy how Kaycee is able to maintain great relationships all throughout her seasons. It confirms to me that Kaycee is one of the best social players ever on Big Brother. Even though her strategic thinking is really lacking and she does get really lucky with the players she gets paired with every time she's on TV, she's always gonna rank highly on lists of players likely to win on a return for me.

I’ve watched this video multiple times and very much enjoy it. I agree with the majority of your placements; the top 5 specifically I don’t think I’d have any differently at this current point. However, you seem to point out when analyzing Dr. Will’s BB2 game that he was always the second option to go home and if there were a veto he likely doesn’t win the game. While this may be true, the veto hadn’t even been invented yet, so I don’t see this as an extremely valid criticism.
I think one thing that is understated about Dan’s game is how much of a character he is. The only reason i bring that up is because big brother is first and foremost a show and meant to entertain people. The twists often benefit those that america likes. Derrick even has mentioned recently on his podcast that he would hide who he was targeting from producers to help remove the threat of a twist saving them if they were a fan favorite. Dan is great in all these aspects and on top of that is likely to get the luck to go his way too

I look at Maggie the same way I look at Brian Heidik. She played a dominant game, but I have no confidence in her repeating that win

I wouldn't say her game was dominant. It was good but it wasn't mind blowing by any means. She's not a top 10 winner.

It's a game created by BB17 player Audrey and is basically an online reality game. The season he's referring to is one where they did half Big Brother US players and half Big Brother Canada players.

"Jordan would have been booted at 6 without Pandora's" is an over-emphasized argument imo. It's one thing if someone would have been the first boot without a twist, but if Jordan really were booted at 6 (and only because of a Rachel veto), that wouldn't have been too bad of a game.
Everytime Jordan went up she was always safe the target was always Jeff. Oh shoot your talking about her second season .

Seeing Kevin dismantle hermons structure really got me thinking about if Derek’s strategy is super imposing or are enough people just not going against the grain now days.

One negative of Jackson is I think the only one of the Final 6 he beats in a jury vote is probably Holly. He might beat Nicole but not sure, probably loses to Christie, for sure loses to Tommy or Cliff.

In this list you mention how juries vote for more active players now. Knowing that, Andy’s win would be near unrepeatable in the recent seasons. He plays to passively. The only way he wins is if he can bring someone to the end with him that everyone could beat. I don’t think he should be as high as he is on this list if it is based on how they would do in other appearances.

I will be different than the haters of this list ("Oh, this person is too high. Oh, Will is not high enough.") This list is perfect to me. I fully support and agree with your reasonings and feel that there is not a single error anywhere. I ESPECIALLY love your justification for Dan at #1: how he has demonstrated how he IS able to overcome adversity and still make it to the end while Derrick and Cody, while playing more impressive single games overall, never had clear instances of overcoming adversity. So very good list and my favorite thus far!
maggie turned a house that was 6 sov vs 5 friendship with maggie as target 1 to 5 friends vs 3 sov with james on an island by himself. She owned the game and arguably the strongest player. Also, it was not the soverign 6. Rachelle really liked maggie and howie would go along with rachel.

I personally would put Cody over Derrick as he has been shown as more consistent than Derrick especially since he evolved from his bb16 game where I feel like Derrick was benefited from twist more

He already has a bb can all stars casting after bb can 9 and a top 10 bb can player after bb can 7 (spoiler that list isn't much different except for MAYBE tychon and kevin is probably number 5 to 3)
For your reasoning I fully agree Dan is a clear number 1. I will say though In a single season run Derrick was the best by far IMO. Never dealt with the block until the final 3 and even then his position was secure Regardless of eho win the final HOH. But sadly I don't think he could ever play again. I feel if he returned he would be gunned after immediately.
Hey Dr Will made it all the way to the Final 4, with such a huge target on his back, and Dan made the freaking Finals. If Derrick is as good as he is compared to be, he'll last a very long time in the game.
And that’s what makes Dan and Will to me so good. Even if Will didn’t play nearly as well in BB2 as Dan did in BB10, they were both seen as the greatest or minimum second greatest players ever when they returned for their second seasons. And despite that perception, they still dominated the game.
I might not agree with a few rankings but Dan being #1 is spot on.

And will not at #1 is crazy. Go back and watch it. He basically sets the tone for strategy in big brother as a whole. Put Will 1st, address my other two comments, and I like your train of thought here. Maybe Andy at #2, but that’s personal preference.

@@ZavidWebster the criteria for a social strategy game is that you eliminate players by a vote and out of the remaining players a winner is crowned by a vote. ALL voting is done by the players in the game exclusively. That didn’t happen in bb1.

Cody is an average strategic thinker imo
Hes more known as a social butterfly but his strategic game is very underrated. Even if its still not as great as a dan or a derrick he does have a really good strategic game. He came in wanting to win the first hoh knowing he could create a meat sheild of players in the first week. Then he made personal bonds with those meat sheilds allowing him to control them to get out people who MAY take a shot at cody.

12:09 without the Coup D'Tat, because Russell goes out in 9th place, Michelle still wins F8 HOH, puts up Chima and Natalie, Jordan wins veto more than likely, Chima still gets 8th. Jordan gets F7 HOH, because she won HOH and veto in that week, puts up Jessie and Lydia/Natalie. Either way Jessie probably goes at 7. Jeff wins F6 HOH, puts up Lydia and either Natalie or Kevin. Jeff wins veto, and likely doesn't use it in this case. Lydia goes at 6 if Natalie is on the block, and the rest of the season plays out as normal. If Kevin goes at F6, then Michelle wins the F5 HOH and Veto, Natalie and Lydia go up, if Natalie goes, then Either Jordan or Jeff win HOH since Lydia seemed to be incapable of winning an individual comp, then Lydia goes home at 4. Michelle more than likely wins final HOH, and takes Jordan. Michelle wins with the votes of Russell, Jessie, and probably Chima, Lydia, and Natalie. If Lydia goes at F5, then Natalie puts up Jeff and Michelle, Michelle wins the F4 veto, and more than likely takes out Jeff. Jordan wins final HOH, if she keeps Natalie, she wins, if she takes Michelle, she loses 5-2. With every possible scenario, either Jordan or Michelle win without the Coup D'Tat
Michele would likely boot Jordan over Jeff, just as she voted at the actual Final 5 vote. So that is already a problem with this theory.
@@tattoofixerstattoos So with Scenario #3, Let's say Michele evicts Jordan at the F4. It's Michele Jeff and Natalie in the Final 3. Natalie loses so it's Jeff and Michele in Part 3. I'm inclined to think that Michele wins. If she takes Natalie, I think she wins. If she takes Jeff, it's closer. Jeff has Jordan, Michele has Russell. And I feel like everyone else, since Jeff didn't use the Coup, so I'm inclined to think either Jordan or Michele win without the Coup

I am too. Although both good players I would take Boogie over Maggie for sure.
I’m not. In BB2, the pawn goes home because boogie’s side of the house pisses everyone off, in bb7 he literally is only playing to get will to win again and in bb14, he only really makes a bond with the social pariah of the house.

Oh come on, Christmas did not have a decent chance of winning the final veto. She was out pretty quickly at 3/4 and Nicole did so much better. And Cody studied like hell and was the clear winner of the comp.
The problem was that she could ha e won and christmas wasn't incapable of winning that
@@TripleBBBBB Except she literally placed 3/4. Nicole outplaced her. And Cody wasn't close to losing to Nicole. Cody is one of the greatest comp beasts of all time. Repeat the comp 100 times and Christmas will win in none of them.

I think Ian's massively underranked here. If we are gonna hit him for being a Week 1 Eviction, we might as well talk about it being because it was a non-controversial target surrounding Ian's autistic mannerisms. We can't seriously knock him for that, his autism can't limit his gameplay.
I find that in talks about BB14, whomever you believe should have placed second tends to get the short end of the stick. Dan-stans literally believe Ian was a floater, while Ian Terry fans will discount Dan's BB14 game as much as possible. I think both are wrong. They both deserved to win BB14.

He definitely has some stupid points. Many of them rely on wild hypothetical situations that would never happen. And he uses those hypotheticals as a knock on a player. Stupid.
@@gonealoof2106 sometimes he does that but let's be honest Maggie's game is very flawed and overrated. She's a good player but there's just certain aspects that's wrong with her game. Good chunk of people didn't like her, she was spoonfed Cappy's minions which these 2 points expose her flawed social game. She also benefitted from circumstances like Kaysar returning as if Jen doesn't take him out Maggie goes home at final 9 on Janelles hoh. She was always one comp away from being evicted. She's good strategically sure but she's not out of this world in that category. I think it can be stupid to do hypotheticals in some cases but in Maggie's case her game is not repeatable and it's very overrated
I disagree on Dick. He deserves to be higher. Yes, during Jessica's HOH he was probably saved by America's player, but he did the work to get the rest of the votes. Dustin gave lots of indications of why he was a threat, and the whole house was not happy when he took the rewards in the POV. I think Dick could have saved himself, but we will never know. Not everyone has the personality to play a Dan or Andy or Derrick kind of game. Dick is a self avowed assh#ole and instead of trying to be something he isn't, he embraced it and used it as strategy. One thing I liked about Dick was that he didn't go behind other people's backs. If he had a beef with you, he confronted you face to face. As confrontational as that is, and intimidating, the other guests in the house knew that even being a a hole, he was the least likely to be scheming and bad mouthing them behind their back. I am not convinced that he would have left without Eric's vote. If I were a houseguest and had solid relationships, I would want to sit next to him in final 2. In fact I think Danielle is the only of the final 5 that he could beat. Even Zach might have beaten him. You also can't deny that he won comps when he had to, but if Dany wasn't in the house with him, he could have gone home much sooner. I would put him at 15.
I also disagree on Ian. He managed to come across as non threatening until the end game, he knew when to abandon the Boogie Frank boat and correctly chose the best alliance. By the time he was perceived as a threat he was able to win competitions when he needed to, and nobody on the jury disliked him or felt burned by him except Frank. He took out Boogie, and Boogie didn't see it coming .For me, Ian was a joy to watch, I would put him at 8.
Boogie was a terrible winner. He would have lost against Will or Janelle. I would put him at 18. He was so arrogant in S14 he thought Ian was his disposable puppy, and seeing Ian flip it on him was one of my favorite BB moments of all time.
Maggie only won because the others in her alliance were idiots. Derrick and Cody never really had to play under pressure and the rest of the cast on their seasons weren't exactly the smartest. I would like to see Andy in a less toxic season. All he had to do was sit back and let them all self destruct.
In a lot of cases, the last boot is the one that should have won the game.
I can't rate Jun high just because she would of literally lost to everyone else on the cast aside from Alison.

@@realityrob1951 I totally disagree, her read on the game was impeccable I just rewatched the season and she was really interesting to watch because she always found ways to minimize the target on her back she knew that Alison was playing a very flashy game, She realized Alison was overplaying and knew exactly what her ticket to win was even when she was in trouble she positioned herself in ways to make other people seem like bigger threats, she often put the two sides of the house against each other which left her right in the middle and able to take out both sides one by one, and I mean she wasn’t a complete push over when it came to comps she won two which was more than Erika did so I think she was a fantastic player
@@tannermcauliffe9325 Alison was the one to initially approach her about aligning. I also re-watched the season. Yes many people can disagree which is normal as point of view vary. But in my personal view. If you would of lost to anyone else but Alison, means your game is far from good. I don't by any means think she is the worst winner of all time. I rate her above Rachel Reilly and Jordan Lloyd.
@@realityrob1951 idk because Danielle Reyes also lost to Lisa Donahue and Danielle was a much better player so you can’t really judge it from that way, also from bb17 Liz and Steve would have most likely beaten Vanessa in the end and there is no doubt that she is a better player than both of them

Guessing Jordan will be bottom tier.
IMO Jackson is a top tier winner. His insane comp streak and outside the box thinking dominated the season and for a long string of weeks it wasnt even possible to evict him. If it wasnt for all the controversy I think he's extremely highly regarded as a winner.
Jackson wasn’t a dominant figure. He literally blew up his alliance for no reason. If you think he’s a top tier winner due to comp wins you need to say the same for Kaycee.
He was invincible because he won comps, and he needed those comps all due to himself. Had he not blown up his alliance he wouldn't have had to win those comps and not be targeted for the rest of the game. To me day 44 is a top 5 worst move for a winner and it made jackson and holly to win out for the season.

Maggie should’ve higher I’m so mad, everyone in bb6 were against eachother. Maggie knew what she had to do that season and had one of the most fluid games ever. Rachel would’ve voted Maggie anyways due to her respecting her gameplay and ivette had a locked vote by Beau anyways

He was able to convince his housemates every week not to vote him out, even though they hated him. Also, "I can't find an individual to hate, because I hate you all??!!!" in BB7 and they still vote to keep him??? More like Modern winners wouldn't have survived the ORIGINAL game!!!! And Jun being ranked below Derrick and Cody????!!!! Hahaaaaaaaa, did we watch the same show??? Jun would have outplayed both those guys and was a brilliant, BRILLIANT strategist and brought the most hated person in the house to Final 2, which solidified her win. Maggie bonded her group and got her alliance to do her dirty work every week and convinced Howie to turn on his OWN ALLIANCE???!!!!
Should be Will at the Top , Dan #2, though it's always been debatable. I've always been a huge fan of Dan. And definitely Jun over Derrick and Cody .

She played Paul hard and even got him to take her to the end when he would have easily beat James. She controlled almost every eviction
People need to chill with the Nicole overhype nowadays. I agree that Nicole is a great player, I’d rank her 7.5 out of 10 but people seem to totally forget that she won on her second try against a newbie cast and still almost lost in very close vote. People underrated the advantage being a veteran is and having a game of experience over the mortify of the houseguests. People also really need to take her bb22 game into account. For the majority of the game she was playing for Cody and was willing going to take him to the final 2 and lose to him.

That is not sexist when we have seen paul get second in his runner up ranking so clearly not sexist and boston rob DOMINATED 2 entire seasons name 5 survivor players that have done that then u can come at him. Maggie is a worse player than her game due to her bad jury management and her bad comp ability. She really good strategically and like half good socially to where she bonds well with people in her alliance but terrible with people out of her alliance. Jun never had the control that boston rob did because it was a partnership with Allison and she did do a lot of the leg work with comps and also made people actively bitter so boston rob is clearly better in dominating 2 seasons and he still got what he wanted in redemption Island in getting the scenario what was best. Also nicole F is not a dominant player. She never made many decisions in the beginning of bb 18 so yeah I don't see it sexist. People overate Jun she's good but I have a hard time winning in a season without a allison figure that is hated more than her so yeah you just don't like the list just say that and not sexist. Also he acknowledge that rob had zero jury chances in his runner up rankings.
@@TripleBBBBB The fact is if he bases a lot of his ranking on jury chances, then both Rob's runner up and winner games MUST be lower if he was being remotedly objective. Rob has one of the worst win equity of all runner ups in All Stars, and he probably has the worst jury win chances of any winner in Survivor history on Redemption Island, in that he is probably the only winner ever who beats nobody except the 2 he is against (who are also the 2 biggest goats in history probably) in a jury vote. So to rank him right on top of both rankings, yet talk about jury chances so often in this video, especialy dumping on womens game is a double standard and sexist.
And you show the same inconsistency praising Rob who had almost no jury win scenarios in both seasons he made the end, and only stood a shot against huge goats like Philip, Natalie T, and maybe Alicia Callaway, but criticizing Jun for simply not having many jury win scenarios, the exact same thing that is true of Rob. Makes no sense. As for Jun jointly dominating with Alison I agree on that, but she used Alison perfectly to her own benefit which is impeccable game play, and then again Rob only jointly dominated with Amber on All Stars. He could not have done as well without Amber, and vice versa, so no difference there. In fact I could see Jun succeeding without Alison more easily than Rob without Amber, except maybe she can't win a jury vote without Alison as her F2 opponent, but beyond that. She is the one who used the men in the house (besides Nathan), not Alison, and she had stronger ties to Erika and Jack than Alison did. Alison mostly only contributed her comp wins and her having Nathan and maybe David in her pocket for a bit. Rob solely dominated a lot of the strategy on Redemption Island, but that is mainly since it was a collection of sheep, misfits, and idiotic no brain players (and yet even in this horrific cast he still loses a jury vote to nearly all of them, showing how vastly overrated his winning game is by some people). And Maggie totally dominated all strategy of the Big Brother 6 house, heck even more than Rob on RI if anything. She not only totally controlled every choice from her side/alliance, like Rob mostly did, but unlike rob she convinced the other side to not target her and keep targetting lesser threats (Jennifer, lol) instead, and to nominate 2 of their own. And you talk about her so called bad social game or jury management, but she still beats WAY more people in a jury vote than Rob does, who beats only Philip and Natalie, and nobody else. So Maggie's jury management was obviously still far better than Rob's was. And her social and strategic bonds with the other side were still better than Rob's as not only were some willing to vote for her (unlike Rob if he was with anyone but historic goats Phil and Natalie) but she was able to work with them at her convenience, and get them to do things she wanted at different points, despite barely interacting with them, something Rob could not do at all with any Zapatera members, and would have been fucked if Ometepe lost 1 more challenge or either Andrea/Matt had flipped at the merge (or Ralph used his idol better). Literally your only argument in Rob's favor vs Maggie is comp wins.
As for your Paul point, that is further proof of my point of him being sexist since 2nd is far too high for Paul in the runner up rankings. He did not dominate BB18 strategically at all, unlike BB19. And made an idiotic final choice in brining Nicole Franzel to the end instead of giant goat James. And lastly never makes the end without Victor being brought back into the house after being voted out TWICE. He in no way merits a ranking that high. He no way should be above someone like Danielle who also had bad jury management, like Paul did, but unlike Paul completely dominated the strategy of that season, you know your basis for defending Boston Rob's ranking.

for player lists he ranks them off of how often they win in hypothetical seasons. in winner rankings he chooses dominance. Will has some glaring strategic games evident in the final 4 round of BB7. And in BB2 he barely had control of what was happening

And he didn’t “outplay everyone” from the bottom, he latched into Nicole and hardy, which was smart, and banked on a bitter jury against them, which was a correct read. However, he didn’t have control over anything really, which is fundamentally worse gameplay than Nicole and hardy. It was Nicole’s mistakes that won will the game equally as much as his own positive decisions. Will at 5 makes absolute sense
