Hello Folks!
I hope I find you all well. Tonight for tea, We had this amazing Chinese takeaway style chicken curry. We love a Chinese takeaway curry…and this tastes just the same! I’m using the Goldfish brand curry sauce paste, but Mayflower curry sauce powder will work too :) Use a similar style of curry sauce paste or powder which is designed to turn into a sauce.
-Cheryl x

Evening everyone! Thanks for stopping by ☺💙
Good evening!
@@edwindrood2816 Good morning! ☺
You can tell that curry is better than 99% of takeaways , looks absolutely 💯 im put off making chinese style curry at home because im not a fan of the curry powders available, need to try the paste thanks for the tips 😊😊
Where I live, we have a Chinese takeaway, an Indian takeaway and an Irish bring-it-back!
An Irish Bring it back ??? Could you explain what that is to this ignoramus
Please forgetting my manners I do apologise
What's an Irish bring-it-back?
That sounds wonderful , I had a Chicken Curry from my local Chinese just last Sunday , it was yum , yours looks very similar , only addition I would add is some button mushrooms about half hour before cooking ends , must give this a go Cheryl , so easy , thanks a lot for sharing , perfect dinner at the caravan in Bonnie 😊❤
I ate so many mushrooms as a meat substitute three years ago when going vegan I developed a mold allergy can't eat them at all anymore it there is a bag of mixed frozen veggies I have to the whole bag to make sure no mushrooms have gotten in by mistake my curry is plant meat Daring Brand plant Ithe Netherlands the orange package is Spicy the green is mild with herbs. I use both I tend to like the orange package better. I think I will try it in the crock pot today with onions and peas. Cheryl could you do a plant meat Show I use SB curry powder from Singapore where I lived for almost three yea 5:11 5:11 rs as a kid for something different
Curry has always been my favorite. Meal especially for Birthdays
This looks a lovely curry thanks Cheryl ❤️😊
Great video, Cheryl. This dish looks like another winner to try.
It's times like this you wish youtube had smell o vision
😄👍
Hi Cheryl I love your channel thank you for this delicious curry recipe my family really love a curry so this is perfect thank you
I’d put diced carrots, corn, broccoli. Also, I’d replace the water with a small can of Coconut Milk and Coconut Cream.
That sounds great. Tfs
@@CricketsBayBut it won’t taste like an authentic Chinese shop curry then, and I think this was the point of this lady’s video 🤷🏻♀️
@@ConnieBlake44 Ya the original comment suggestion sounds gross!
Curry looks absolutely delicious Cheryl.😋👍
That curry looked so authentic definitely making it like yours ❤
TY Cheryl. Your Curry looks delicious. I'll look for the ingredients during my next monthly shopping trip. Love ya.
🥰
definitely trying this! I love chicken curry
Thank you so much! I've been looking forward to it.
Yum.. thanks Cheryl ❤
I will give this a go as I have the same curry paste and have only used it to pour over chips.
Hi Cheryl
Will be making this on Monday .
After shopping thanks again for your great recipes
Love them
That looks tasty! 😃
I’m going to make this soon hopefully, looks delicious and easy to make.
I will definitely give this a try, love curry , thank you so much ❤
Loved this recipe I've gone off takeaway curry as it's so gelatinous yours looks perfect
I made this yesterday Cheryl and it was fabulous a real game changer no more Chinese curry take out for us ! Don’t have any cayenne so plopped in a bit of mild curry powder but will use Cayenne next time ! It was so tasty and just like an authentic Chinese so thanks for sharing ❤️
I can smell that all the way from Australia 🇦🇺 🐨😃 on my menu next week for my Scottish hubby, that brings back memories with the chips .
Thank you! Looks great!!
That does look so delicious. Going to make that one ❤
Will definitely be doing this ❤
Cheryl, looks delicious! Thanks for sharing! 🙂😋😎❤
Made this recipe this evening for dinner tomorrow but not sure i can sit through 4-5 hours of the smell again, it's FANTASTIC and its driving me crazy! 🤤🤤
My wife doesn't like heat (or onions) in a curry but with the 1 tsp of cayennne pepper, after a taste test she loved it as well.
I'll reheat it tomorrow and serve hers then add onions and another tsp of cayenne to the rest for myself... it'll do my head in having to warm the onions etc through while she eats but i'll just have to wait!
Hi, where did you buy the curry paste please?
Look so interesting. The Asian "take aways" and restaurants where I live don't offer curry. I am 70 am have never seen it other than your channel. I live in San Diego, CA. What does it taste like?
It's so hard to explain the flavour! Kind of reminds me of a spicy, creamy gravy with the slightest hint of liquorice 😂 I really couldn't begin to explain! But it's tasty ☺
I think that licorice or anise taste is probably what distinguishes it from Indian curry. It's likely got what they call here "Chinese five-spice" powder
Tastes amazing x
Chinese curry hasnt made it to our takeaways here in Canada. I'll give thos a try, looks delicious!
Looks delicious Cheryl x
I always buy that curry paste but the but the Hotter version you can also buy the same brand sweet and sour sauce paste. but that's not good unless you tinker with it
Going to give this a try
Looks delicious Cheryl, I’ve never tried that brand of curry paste, the one I usually use is Mayflower hot curry powder & like you add in some five spice & cayenne - how do you think they compare? Love loads of big onion chunks with still a bit of bite to them & of course the frozen peas! Yummy!!😋
Yes, I will definitely give this a try. It looks so easy and I wish we had smell-o-vision so we could appreciate the curry. 😂😂
Smells amazing Sue! 😄
Definitely trying that; I haven't seen that particular curry sauce here in New Zealand, but the blocks I get look like they are the same ingredients. It is a Japanese curry. Thank you.
Just got all the ingredients for this this morning, after showing it too the wifey last night we had to give it a try ❤️🔥
Looks gorgeous Cheryl xx
Also comes hot and spicy ...nice
Am planning on giving it a try. I've had plenty of Chinese (and Indian, to be fair) curries when in the UK. Just ordered this brand from Amazon. Very expensive. If I like, I'll bring home on the next trip or have family bring some over next visit.
It's such a shame you can't just pick it up where you are...because it's pretty inexpensive here :( I could have sent you some in the post! 🤗

Looks yummy 😊
Looks yummy
I put peppers and carrots 😮in mine too
Trying this tomorrow. Had to search out the Chinese curry powder 🇦🇺
That looks scrum diddly umptious!
Oh and if this cooking lark doesn’t work out for you then you could make a fortune as a hand model
Looks so tasty! We’ve been on a Butter Chicken kick lately.
Oh lovely! 🤩
😋 😋
This recipe looks so delicious!! Take away sounds so cute, we say 'carry out' across the pond. We don't have Chinese curry paste like that, but I think the Japanese Golden brand curry block might just work. Ps- you do like it spicey 😮
I found a can of it looks like Chinese or japanese, I think it was called dragonfly. And thinking of Cheryl's Channel I thought I would come home one night and try it. Did not like the taste of it at all
@@LindaC616I tried Chinese curry from a NJ takeout ,and I didn’t like that either, but I am guessing it must be better in the UK.😊
@JanetBrown-px2jn yes, I have decided that the next time I go to ireland, I have to try to find a "spice bag" someplace
to get that paste in Australia, the cost is AU$178.33, it looks amazing though
OMG!!! Deffo not worth it! I'd be quite happy to post it to you...it's pretty inexpensive here 🙂 email me x
❤❤❤❤😊😊Thank you
Loving the tatt x

Been to Tesco, Sainsbury’s & Asda, can’t find goldfish Chinese curry in any of these stores, I asked to assistants too……nothing 🤔x
The Stores here in Wisconsin do NOT offer "curry paste" from ANY brand name. I do see a jar of curry powder in my spice department but there no Asian carry out or stand alone Asian restaurant that offers curry dishes. Interesting
Starwest Botanicals online sells fantastic curry powder here in the U.S.
I can get powder or I can get a small can of gravy or sauce. I was in the Japanese or Chinese foods in the imported aisle at a supermarket half an hour away. I think it was called dragonfly or something like that. To be honest, I got home and opened it one night thinking of Cheryl's channel. Did not like it at all. Would much rather use the curry powder found in the spice aisle and make my own.
Most supermarkets will have curry powder in the spice aisle, or you can search it online and make your own Curry powder. That's what most Jamaican coax do. They look at people who buy a curry powder pre-blended for them like we're idiots
Wal-Mart's aisle with the Asian noodles and soy sauce has a couple of kinds of curry paste. Target has jars of Indian sauces like Butter Chicken at the end of the Mexican/Asian aisle. Amazon has 1 million curry options.
Where can I purchase the curry paste you use please x
What sets this apart from Indian or Thai curries? Never heard of Chinese curry, though I have heard of Japanese curry
Looks yummy 😋 xxx
Any chance to give me ideas for your nice summer meals please Cheryl ?
Ooh I'll have a wee think Jeannie 🤗
Curry paste is currently unavailable on Amazon. Maybe I can find another one. Found same one in another place but they want $25 for it! Way too much money for a curry paste.
Where do you get the paste please Cheryl x
Its in asda for £2.70. Mayflower is nicer, £1 in Iceland.
Tesco sell it as well for £2.85 per 405g tub.
I get it from Tesco...but most of the bigger supermarkets have it :)
@@WhatsForTea thanks x
Wow! This is really a nice recipe. 👍🎉
a tablespoon of tomato sauce transforms this into a great curry or a tablespoon of sugar
My fiance is from Scotland and I know what you all really call the Chinese takeaways LOL. Hint, it rhymes sith rinckys 😅
Shhhhh 🙃
nice nails, that recipe looks banging, say hello to the rest of the Scottish, not be long before a load of immigrant peeps descend on you like the Irish have to deal with, then you can say goodbye to your smug way of life. good videos by the way,
