Hey folks! Today I made an incredibly tasty corned beef and potato pie :) not only is this easy, everyone likes it! It may not win any prizes for the prettiest pie, but the flavour makes up for it :)
Everything I used will be listed below.

This was a staple in our house as a boy. My granny made this regularly, even better cold from the fridge though absolutely banging hot from the oven too. What a blast from the past. Homemade pastry, made on an old white and blue enamel metal pie plate. I am pure bursting for one of these now! Thank you for this reminder of how phenomenal simple home cooked food really can be.👍
You can't beat a good pie, lovely job with reasonably priced ingredients 👍👍😋🇨🇮
Old Geordie from Spennymoor living in Australia. Accent is like going home. Grew up eating this. Still making it. Made one yesterday. Love the rich persons version.
Somewhat lapsed Geordie here (well, Vegemite does that to a bloke). Mum and Gran both used to make this regularly, and I absolutely loved it. My brother and I were only talking about it a week or so ago. Now you've got me all fired up to have a go. Thanks! :)
From another geordie I make this pie weekly good geordie nosh
Me mate makes a belta corned beef n tatie pie! Niy vegemite like!😄👍 god bless
Once a geordie always a geordie 🤪😀

This took me right back to my childhood I remember my mother making this for us all for tea x
Every Boxing Day my niece has a family get together with a generous buffet. My favourites were her filo pastry pies - corned beef or "Greek" filling of feta, spinach & egg. Absolutely delicious.
My contribution is a large trifle. 😁
I thought Boxing Day meals were all about turkey, ham, bubble and squeak leftovers....
@@jixuscrixus That's probably what they had for lunch - with chips, of course. xxx
@@valgalloway6914 🤣
we used to have corned beef pie when I was a kid and I loved it - tried it on my own kids and they were totally unenthusiastic - we did it slightly differently, very thinly sliced raw potato on the bottom, thinly sliced onion, thinly sliced corned beef, and maybe a few more slices of potato on the top, then pour over a couple of beaten eggs before putting the crust on the top, it makes nice layers when you cut into it
Tip - refrigerate the corned beef (still in its tin) beforehand to make it easier to slice
Cheryl, you take me back to my "roots", I must make one of these again
I add carrots and sautéed onions to my mix and its loved by everyone 😋
I think our baked beans are a little sweeter with brown sugar and molasses but I eat them regularly. They aren't usually a breakfast staple but definitely for lunch or dinner. I grew up making baked bean sandwiches on bread or rolls. White bread toasted in the oven with cheese and baked beans served over the top it's still a go to lunch for me. That pie looks absolutely incredible
I think their baked beans are the same as our "pork&beans" in the US. More tomato and less sweet than our baked beans!
That my friend is called beans on toast in the uk it’s something us working class would eat as it’s cheap
Who knew a humble can of corned beef could make such a lovely supper? This looks wonderful Cheryl! I'll have to see if I can con the family into this one soon.
I've said it for years...pie pie pie..is there anything more comforting or ancient? Certainly thankful to our past heroes for giving us the 🥧
Thanks Cheryl. Just finished watching. I love all your videos but your pies are way up there for me.
I can't wait to try this. Here in the southern USA (West Virginia) we eat a lot of baked beans. I think if people from the states have told you that they do not eat baked beans with their dinners that they must be from the north. Here in the south, we baked beans are a staple. Thank you for another GREAT recipe.
Exactly
We eat baked beans in Ohio
We occasionally make Boston Baked Beans
Beans from the UK are very different from American baked beans. You can buy a can from cost plus
@@millsykooksy4863 I think that beans are pretty much the same across the entire world. While there are many varieties of beans -- I don't think there is a difference in a UK lima from a US lima. LOL
My Welsh Mam used to make this when we were skint. We all loved it. If she were around now she’d think the addition of spring onion was an act of heresy!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🏴🏴🏴🏴
Will be trying this soon. Brought back lovely memories of Mum's corned beef pie. For those who like to try corned beef another way, have you tried it with baked neans in a toastie? You can add finely chopped onion if you like. We love it. It is better to leave them to cool a little before trying. Enjoy.
I remember those toasties when I lived in Australia Leonard, absolutely fantastic.
That looks amazing.
This took me back to when I was a kid. Thanks for the memories.
Oooo, your pie looks so tasty!
Looks absolutely amazing
I love the mixture of the pastry and the tinfoil trays what a great idea x
Looks absolutely delicious
This looks absolutely amazing. I’m 100% getting this on our meal plan. It will go down a treat in my house I think! Thanks for sharing 🥧
Just the thing for a Winter dinner !
What a lovely simple recipe, and so delicious. I’m making this for tea/supper tonight. Thank you so much for showing us how, with no fuss, no waffling, and explaining with your beautiful accent, which I absolutely love. 🤗🌹💕 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ South African here.subscribed.
Looks great, i can almost smell it. Thank you.
Oh I haven't made one of those in ages. I like putting some sharp cheddar through my pastry & peas & softened red onions through the filling. One of those pies that's braw either hot or cold.
Hope you had a good St. Andrews Day yesterday. [Speaking of which, you can sub out the corned beef for any left over haggis & mix some neeps in with the tatties, makes a nice change & a good way to use up the leftovers.]
My mum used to make us this when we where kids, God bless you, brings back a lot of fond memories
This looks amazing, I love corned beef so I will definitely being trying this. Thank you ❤
Oh a nice big wedge of that pie with green beans or veg of your choice and gravy over the top what a tea xxxx
I know what I am having for tea tomorrow.....Lovely!!!!
This pie looks delicious, and I love corned beef. Just the thing for an evening's dinner on a cold night.
Thank you for showing how to do this meal.
Great idea!
A good grating of sharp cheese and a tea spoon of chili powder, a squirt of tomato sauce in the mix is great also. nice as you have done it as well
Oh my goodness that looked gorgeous and definitely with the beans.
Hummm baked beans are a staple here. Love the looks of this pie especially with the beans. Yum 😋🤤
This looks Delicious!!!! Thank you for sharing!!! I understood everything you said!! You reminded me of a co-worker from Scotland, Margaret!!!
Yummy. TY. I can't wait to bake this pie. I'll serve it with fried cabbage and baked beans. TY for John's video. I love your nails.
My Mum used to dice up potato’s into small bits mix it in the corned beef. Then she would make Pattie’s and fry them. I loved them and still love corned beef.
Who in the world would pass this up? Oh yum yum.
Great looking pie, my mum used an ashet pie dish to layer mashed potatoes then corned beef, then same again and finish with a layer of mashed potatoes with grated cheese on top but this looks even better, and yes, we had baked beans with it. Thanks for the recipe, can't wait to give it a try xx
your food always looks so yummy.
That pie 🥧 looks the bee’s knee’s especially with the beans 😋
I went and bought corned beef especially for this recipe. Looking forward to making it. And it will be served with baked beans. 😋
Hi Cheryl, mushy peas & HP sauce! Reminds me of my nights as a cabbie outside the nightclub at 3am!
Which nightclub ?
Really love the feisty extra touches here with the Scallions (Spring Onions) and Mustard topped pastry lid
My mother (a Scot from Ayrshire) used to make a version of this when i was much younger, but with sausage meat instead of corned beef and layered with par-boiled sliced potatoes. Thank you for the reminder and the prompt to get in the kitchen.
Maan I miss sausage meat/Slice
So, not a "corned beef" pie.
@@barbarapearce9738 Yep, not a corned beef pie.
This looks delicious 😋 I think I would also like to add cabbage and carrots. Yummm
I'm Scots but I've never heard of this...however it's really just two of my favourite things....stovies and puff pastry...I'm off to make it now!!! Thanks!
I’m not a big fan of canned corned beef but my husband is. I am, though, a big fan of your pies. So I will definitely try this one for sure! Thanks for the inspiration.
I love the idea of corn beef.
It looks so appetizing and delicious ❤I could almost smell it!️❤️Thanks for sharing ❤stay connected❤
I made this the other night and it was beautiful. The only change I made is to use shortcrust for the lid as neither of us are too fond of flaky pastry. My wife's appetite is still building up after a serious op so this was perfect in just a small portion with beans as you suggested! The rest is divided and in the freezer for another day. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Cheryl this looks delicious! Great idea to make the top crust pastry! Makes my mouth water! It looks like you spent the whole day making it! So pretty! I'll be making this a lot! Thank you so much!
Can't wait to try this recipe.....looks delicious !!! I could listen to your voice all day, so soothing. Thank you.
Lovely 👌🏻 Greetings from Scotland 😊 Have a wonderful day everyone 🌻
You too! Thank you :)
I love your gas stove, I've been trying to talk my boyfriend into getting one when the new house is built. I think they cook food so much better. I also want one that'll work if the power goes out, I've heard the new ones won't work if there's no power.
This is an absolutely beautiful dish thank you for sharing I will be making this for my family in the future maybe this weekend
I stumbled across your channel by accident and absolutely loving it. My mum used to make this and I wanted to make some last week. Now I'm excited too make it. Thanks so much.
I thank you kindly dear.
I prepared this recipe this evening and my husband and I, were left speechless on how good this pie tasted. Thank you and Happy Holidays 🎉
I totally forgot about this ,brought back nice memories of getting this as wean , looks delicious
Been looking forward to this pie recipe thank you Cheryl 💕
My mum used too make it in winter when i was a child with lashings of gravy mmmmm
I'm going to try this today for our New Year's Eve supper - doesn't do to drink on an empty stomach. It looks delicious! Wish me luck because I don't usually muck around with pastry, but this bad boy I couldnae resist!
Well prepared, shown and explained . The result looks tasty.
My mum used to make this years ago I remember my dad used to take some for his “piece” the following day , now I’m doing the same my husband and grandchildren love it x
That looks really good. I will be trying this recipe. Thank you!
Thanks cheryl. This looks so good.
Wow I've just made this and it's absolutely gorgeous definitely going to make it again. This is a must try
Wow! ......what a good ‘budget’ dinner idea 👏👍
I LOVE corned beef.
Gosh I haven't had this in a very long time especially with beans😋! One of my favourites as a child. Thank you for sharing, will be sure to bring this back into the home and probably in one of my videos. Great Recipe!!!
Thank you for this. Very clear instructions.
Can't wait to try this! Thank you, dear.
Need to try this. WE LIKE CORNED BEEF hash so this will be a wee change ! THANKS Cheryl 😍
Amazing recipe !!!
Visited Scotland and went up the Highlands and I've been on a pastry and pie fever ever since. :D
This was simply perfect. Ate it with some basic homegrown salad but it really is a meal on its own!
Thank you!
omg i was only thinking of making this the other day and was looking 4 a recipe, will bake yrs now, thanks honey.
Looks absolutely amazing...very tempted to make it😊

Looks delish ! Love any dish with corned beef 😋 Greetings from sunny Gibraltar 🇬🇮
Utterly delicious and beautifully presented. Thank you
Made this with good Co Down spuds for tonight’s tea. Thanks for a first class recipe.
Looks absolutely delicious have with lovely thick gravy .. lovely
Simply lovely
That looks extremely yummy, and i would absolutely love it, but my wife hates corned beef. I still might make it one day though.
Ooh Cheryl, that looks gorgeous.. This is my comfort food i buy as a treat from a local independent baker, you have inspired me to bake my own.. Thanks dear x
My mouth is watering will make that tomorrow.
My grandmother told me I made pastry crust as good as my Aunt Hazel. That was a huge compliment. Figured I couldn’t do better than that , so that’s the last one I made…i use store bought pastry crust and puff pastry. I hate making pastry crust too!!! It’s a pain in the bum and messy.
I'm going to make this, it looks delicious!!! Hello from California USA :)
Brilliant recipe. Thank you and super easy to make
Mmmmm looks yummy 😋 I would love ❤️ to make that for my family with mash potatoes 🥔 and vegetables thank you 🙏 for showing us how to make it xx
That's our dinner sorted for tomorrow! Thank you 👍🙂
Gosh, that looks so delicious. Thank you for the recipe.
Usually buy,but will definitely be trying this at home, looked lovely thanking you 😊
Looks so yummy and welcoming for teatime.❤️
This is a budget recipe from when I was a kid- in the 1960s. The more budget your pie, the greater the ratio of potato to corned beef.
That looks delicious. Love corned beef
Looks so easy, looks nice as well
We typically have baked beans as a side for a bbq or picnic. This looks delicious!!
Pork n Beans in tomato sauce are the closest you can find in America to British baked beans. They are less sweet than American baked beans! Really tasty on toast.
I just love your recipes but they make me homesick!🤣🌹🇬🇧
Just found this channel WOW amazing thank you so much honest food at last xx
