Ι would love to see a bookself tour!
I loved Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day and other British novels of that period.
I am so happy that I found you. In one years time I will be able to tell that I followed her before she got famous❤️❤️❤️
For real, for real! She has become my favorite RUclipsr so fast! I found her in October and within like 3 days I was hooked!! 💕💕💕
Heyy, I just uploaded a new video on the topic of books for 2021, I would really appreciate if you could check it out and leave me some feedback. If you don’t have the time or if you don’t want to, that’s okay too. Thank you and have a nice day.🥺❤️
Yes seriously!
I just found her. I watched some of her older vids and I love how much she’s progressed out of the current common tiktok affectations she had then to where she is now. Way more authentic now and I can only guess she’ll grow her following beyond her imagination And she’s killing my book budget so much. Lol. She never guides us to a bad book. Lol.
I feel absolutely the same. I feel full of life after I watched a video of her ❤️
You are the sweetest person I've ever seen on yt, you remind me of Anne Shirley, I love seeing your enthusiasm about books, it's so cozy ❤️🥺
Thanks for the inspiration!! just by the way the book Castle in the clouds by Kerstin Gier is set in Switzerland in the Alps.
You always have so many great book recommendations ones I haven’t heard recommended before! I’m so excited for you book club!
Loved Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day and other British novels from that era. The cozy ones set in a village in England or Scotland are my favorites. Looking forward to more recommendations. I’m new to your channel.
Your videos are always like a warm hug on a snowy day :) I have so many new books I want to read now! I also love that you borrow library books, as a library staff member, it’s always cool to see people who use the library ✨
Saw this posted and knew Monday just got a whole lot better!!Thank you thank you for all of the videos I am LOVING playing them all day!!!!!❤️❤️❤️🙌🏻🙌🏻
Desi! I get soooo excited when you put up a new video. I watch a lot if booktube and usually I find one or two books I want to read in a haul or review video but with yours I want to read every one!!! You are amazing!💕
Your sweater is so cute!! Love all the classics here. Those Jane Austen editions are so cute!
Miss pettigrew lives for a day is such a fun read! I laughed out loud plenty a times! I adore your channel, you really get me excited about life and reading❤️❄️
I have a feeling she's gonna love it!!
I second the recommendation for Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, both the book and the movie.
I’ve read castle in the clouds and sleigh rides and silver bells at the Christmas fair and loved them both!!!😍😍
I LOVE Captain Wentworth’s diary!! I’ve read it multiple times 🥰
For Christmas I'm going to read Heidi. Also going to loom knit, sew, junk journal and, bake. A perfect Christmas!
you have opened my eyes to so many new amazing authors and just new books to consider. I love your videos you have rekindled my love for LM Montgomery, she is one of my favorite authors of all time and watching you talk about her books really brought me back to it when I was drowning in all these books I was not enjoying and I'm getting back to my roots so to say. Awesome videos keep making great content. Happy holidays!
HOW did I not know of the existence of Castle in the Clouds. Kerstin Gier wrote one of my favourite series everrr
is it Emerald Green, Saphire blue and Rubin red?
Girrrrrrllll you about to make me drop $200 on some books 🙈
Syrie James also wrote "The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen", if haven't read it yet, it is a good one to read 😁

I LOVE Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day! (The movie with Frances McDormand is also so well done!) So many great books in your haul. I literally order books every time I watch your videos.
You've made me want to read almost all, if not all, of these books! 💖
Your videos have carried me through the autumn & festive seasons🤍
So many of these are on my TBR! Great haul. 😁
You are making my TBR so big!! Let’s hope we get snowed in 🤓📚⛄️
I got the enola Holmes book for Christmas and cant wait to read it. I watched it on netflix so I already know it's going to be amazing!
I just ordered The Wife Upstairs and In a Holidaze from Book of the Month! So excited to get them!
love the Book of the month picks- In the Holidaze is on my list for this month too! I was in love with England after reading classics and watching old movies too, so much that I moved here 4 years ago and let me tell you it’s not all afternoon teas and cute villages 😂 still don’t regret my decision to move here but it wasn’t what I expected, especially Leeds where I live now- doesn’t have that charm and is bit grey. love the pink Edit of Emma 🥰 I’be bought the Puffin in Bloom editions of Anne of Green Gables and Little Women last week and they are gorgeous!! need to get my hands on that copy of Emma ☺️
Had a long busy day and was SO happy to find this video in my subscription box
Loved the silver bells book by Heidi Swain I’ve not long read it love these kinds of vlogs
omg it is such a great feeling to know, that there is somebody with the same obsession with english manners, traditions, and the way english people live... haha luv u
I just found your channel and I am in love with your vibes!!!
It was my birthday at the start of the month and my dad got me the first four Poirot books, which I've started recently. I've been really enjoying them!
Which Poirot book would you recommend to start with? X
Hiddensee is one of my favorites and I never see anyone talking about it! I can’t wait to hear what you think, Desi.
You should totally read Nevermoor!! I just finished the first book and I have no words. It made me so happy and it almost felt like I was reading a movie at times the characters were so vivid. It was so magical!! highly recommend!!
Your like a book character come to life , so beautiful and enchanting
Oh my goodness you’re so sweet 🙈🧡
@@DarlingDesi I'm your biggest fan from south Africa , continue being the beautiful person you are .
Earlier this year I was listening to a podcast Nigel Slater did reading extracts from that book while going to sleep, it wasn't anywhere near Christmas yet but I find Christmas comforting and he was describing the atmosphere of Christmas so well, became one of my 2020 coping mechanisms haha
Christmas really is so comforting! I love falling asleep to carols.
how do you not have millions of subscribers, yours is my favourite channel on youtube, it's perfection
I love your voice, your style, your aesthetic and the books you recommend are awesome🧡🧡🧡
I am DYING to read The Wife Upstairs !! 😍 I'm a huge Jane Eyre fan . ☺️
i knew as soon as I subbed I'd be binging all your videos!!
Amazing video, as always! Some of the books mentioned by you are already on my tbr and the others are now! Xo
My my I love your videos so much! Please make more of these
Soo many wonderful books here! I've been collecting the Wordsworth editions since they started and have all of them except the most recent few...love them. Syrie James is a great author and I've really enjoyed her retellings based upon Mina Harker and Jane Austen, so I definitely want to read this one based on Charlotte Bronte. I read Hiddensee last year and it was pretty good. Some parts are magical, but a lot of it felt drawn out and not really what I was hoping for (was hoping for a retelling of the Dumas story, but this definitely isn't that). Just added The Christmas Chronicles, An English Christmas and Dickens at Christmas to my "to purchase" list as one can never have too large of a Christmas/holiday library 🎄❤
Love these books. I am from england , stratford upon avon 😊😊 we love our tea 😆 xx
How gorgeous is your jumper ❤️ yesss to Emma, gotta love Jane Austen 📖
I love your book recommendation 💗
im not in my best condition lately, but your videos make me so so so happy! waa < 3
You would LOVE Merry Midwinter by Gillian Monks - I highly recommend it for a last minute addition to your festive/winter reading! I read it every year :)
One middle grade book i would recommend if you like Victorian England is Jammy Dodgers in deadly danger and also Hetty Feather!! both of them really made my childhood
I just looked them up! They look so fun! ☺️ Thanks for the recommendation!
I am reading in a Holidaze. It is so good and fun
Oh I got to get the wife upstairs I've picked it as my April add on. I love your taste in books.
So many interesting and fun books in this video! I enjoyed The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place, and while I haven't read Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, the movie is one of my all time favorites!! Also if you haven't read it the book The Aviary by Kathleen O'Dell I highly recommend it. It has a great Gothic feel to it, it's a middle grade book and so, so good. Thank you for another lovely video.
I love the movie Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day! I didn't know it was originally a book!
I recently bought A Sky Painted Gold because of your recommendation AND NOW YOU ARE TELLING ME THERE IS ANOTHER BUT WINTER-THEMED?? 😍😍 Damn. Now I have to buy yet more books. Oh well, guess that's my fault for not doing my research properly 😂 Thanks for your recommendation. Nice to have something different suggested!
I also live in Utah! You are my favorite book tuber! We share the same love of bygone days!
I added 3 books to my amazon wish list thanks to you :)
I love your Christmas sweater!
Thank you!! ☺️🙏🏻
I can really recommend "the mistletoe murder: and other storys" by P.D.James. It's a collections of some great murder mystery/ cozy crime storys with Agatha Christie vibes. 🌟
My next read is “One Winters Night” by Adele Clee! I’m so excited to tread this one 🎄
I'm also a fan of illustration🧡
Your hair is amazing!!!!
First of all, what a gorgeous jumper! 🎄 The editions of the Jane Austen books are so lovely! I added a Holiday by Gaslight to my TBR since you mentioned it the other day 🥰
I did too! I just got it yesterday!
I was inspired by your video and got the whole Jane Austen clothbound classics. also got the house of dreams by Montgomery.
Really love your videos 😍😍
For the day i discovered your channel i spent my whole money on books😂so many great recommendations!
Hello from the UK! love your book hauls Desi ❤
Aww hello! And thank you so much! ☺️🙏🏻
@@DarlingDesi 😊
I know this video is older buuuut I just read "a holiday by gaslight" as you recommended....and omg 😲. So cute. Loved it. Just charming and feel good. Can you recommend another little Victorian charm? Who would have known I'd enjoy it!!!
I know I am very late to this video but still want to thank you - these are exactly the kind of recommendations I have been looking for to get ready for the holiday season. The Christmas Chronicles looks especially amazing and I can't wait to get it and check it out. I wanted to share a few recommendations I think you will love as well. I am also obsessed with The Nutcracker and I usually read the original every year, along with watching The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, which is such a beautiful wintery fantasy movie. My favorite modern novel retelling of it is The Enchanted Sonata by Heather Dixon Wallwork. The way she writes about this wintery world, I really think you will love it. My next recommendation is Goblins & Snowflakes by Melanie Karsak, which is based on the fairy tale, The Shoemaker and the Elves. It is a fun Christmas read featuring gnomes and dollmakers and it is set at Strawberry Hill, the gothic home of Horace Walpole. I also love to follow the Victorian tradition of reading ghost stories at Christmastime and I try to read a collection of them every year. My favorites are those put together by Tanya Kirk of the British Library and I recommend starting with her Spirits of the Season collection. Hope you enjoy some of these and thank you so much for sharing your recommendations!
Completely unrelated, but your hairdo finally made me understand Sleeping Beauty's fringe in the cartoon...I've never been able to picture how it'd look like for real until now...
For 2021 try The Birds Christmas Carol by Kate Douglas Wiggin. A late 19th century Christmas novella.
I just joined book of the month today I can't wait to get my first books
I love your sweater ❤️
I loooooooove Persuasion!
OBSESSED with your sweater! Where did you get it?
I just got my copy of in a Holidaze today. I’m a little bummed that I didn’t receive it before Christmas, but whatever. I’m also planning on buying a 3 book mystery book bundle tomorrow from a independent bookstore here in GA called Bear Book Market.
Great selection! You convinced be to get "Carols and Chaos". I recently read "hiddensee" and it is rather dark and a little confusing. I didn't really enjoy it. I got a copy of "Enola Holmes" after watching the movie too! ^_^
The Christmas Chronicles is superb….. the audiobook is fabulous and read by the author Nigel Slater. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Castle in the Clouds plays in the Swiss mountains☺️ The synopsis of my copy says it haha I don‘t know why it‘s not written on your book🙊❤️
Yeah I just checked again, no where on my book does it say any mention of location 😂 It just says “at a grand European hotel in the mountains” 🤷🏼♀️ But Switzerland would definitely make sense! ☺️
Imagining a makeup tutorial from you. It would be magnificent.
Omgggggggggggggggg I love Enola Holmes I watched both movies loved them and I absolutely loveeeeee Sherlock Holmes🥰😍😍😍😍😍
Classics. 🤩♥️
You should read first frost by Sarah Addison Allen!!!!! Read garden spells then read first frost but they are both so amazing!!!!
I am not sure how many people told you this, but you are truly a modern day Anne Shirley. I am actually imagining you as a grown up Anne in the later books.
I read In a Holidaze and it was really good! I'm going to read Little Women for the first time over Christmas. Have you ever read Wicked? It's very dark compared to the musical; almost doesn't resemble the musical in fact.
Good evening from the UK x
Omg , you so cooool❤❤❤❤❤
Hey Desi, since you're a fan of historical fiction have you ever read anything by Amy Harmon, specifically "What the Wind Knows" ? Because if you haven't oh my I would recommend!! She does historical fiction so well and I find this story to be the perfect blend of romantic! Its actually on my list of favourites now! Its a relatively new book, it came out in 2019!! I also just read another book by her "Where the Lost Wander", which came out this year, another historical fiction of hers and such a beautiful story!! Im just surprised I dont hear more people talking about her books because I think they are fantastic!! I imagine you have an endless list of books TBR (I know I do) but I thought I would pass along the recommendation anyway :)
I love Amanda Grange's Diary series. She's done all the heroes plus Mr Wickham's diary. I've enjoyed them all and I am not a big fan of Austenesque or fan fiction. She's done a few book signings at Lyme Park (that's used as the exterior of Pemberley in the 1995 BBC adaptation) and members of my little group The Occasional Austen Days Group have gone along to meet up with her and have picnics in the grounds. She is delightful. Our group is a Jane Austen book group but we also go on outings in Regency attire as well as attending the Jane Austen Festival at Bath and a few balls thoughout the year. We are based in the North of England and are massive fans of Austen and all things Regency.
How do you pick which one to read first? How fast can you read a book? I read mine in alphabetical order by the authors last name and it takes me weeks to finish a book because I don't have much reading stamina
Just researched Amanda GRANGE... OMG So many to choose from about the masculine hero in jane austen books, from Wentworth, Darcy, Knightly, Colonal Brandon definately be checking them out. Also other books set in the scenes of that era and Jane austen country.
Is your Miss Pettigrew a Persephone Books copy?? I always love how they print all of their books :' )
Miss Pettigrew lives for a day the movie with Amy Adams is very entertaining 😉
Oh my! Where do you store your book collection? So amazing
Honestly, all over my apartment 😂 I still don’t have any bookshelves, so they’re all over the place 😂
For my dear people who are obsessed with Jane Austen (like me 🥰) and would like to try the food from her novels,
Mr. Bingley’s white soup 🍲
Lady Middleton’s apricot marmalade 🍑Margaret Dods’s pigeon pie 🐦
Emma’s baked apples 🍎🍯
and more literary treats from Georgian England) please you need to read:
1.Tea with Jane Austen, Recipes inspired by her novels and letters.
2. Dinner with Mr. Darcy, Recipes from Jane Austen’s novels and letters.
Ohhh those sound amazing!! Maybe I should make a youtube video where I make the foods, try them, and maybe do a bit of reading as well ❤️
@@DarlingDesi I would love to see a video like this . ☺️
Thank you so much I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of these books . ☺️
@@reyofsunshine7171 You are welcome 🤗 I hope you will enjoy as much as I do 😋🥰
Desi, have you read pride and prejudice and mistletoe by Melissa de la Cruz? I just added it to my Christmas list for reading! :)
Dont leave us without you.... I feel I am alive when I watch your videos. I am sure your followers dont need any pyschoterapist
My next read for December is A Very Murderous Christmas which contains 10 classic crime stories by various authors.
