THANK YOU for explaining the love language of gift giving. I JUST explained this to my partner, who is lovely but not strong in that department and likes me to tell him exactly what to get me. I was like, "NO, I can buy things myself, it's about the thought and planning behind the gift."
I’ve had to spell it out for Jared for years! But he has been improving every year and it makes me feel SO loved that he has been trying so hard to love me in the way that I feel loved. I usually give him a wishlist with a few items that he can use to be inspired by. We also have talks every month where we go over our current interest and fixations! I guess he remembered when he was looking for tea that I went through a whole Bridgerton phase during spring 😅
I'm usually a silent watcher, but I can't put into words how much these videos mean to me. I binge them regularly and if I don't know what to do they're a safe space. I have CFS/ME and when I can't go outside and see the world (which is a lot of the time) this little universe is my comfort. Thank you❤ Happy new year from little me, in Norway ✨
My husband and I have a tradition that started before we got married. On Christmas Eve, we give each other books. Then we spend the rest of the evening reading, snuggling, and eating chocolate. Yes we are total dorks!
Hello! I want to thank you for this year, you have improved my life and that of many others enormously. When the darkness and rain of autumn cover the joy of life, when the wind blows through the pine needles, when spring feels like a total failure and the heat of summer is nearly killing us, then you stand there like a magical fairy and show joy and reason in life. You make life a cozy, fun, joyful moment and I can't find words for how grateful I am that you have made me appreciate both myself and life. Being able to wake up in happiness and be ready for another wonderful day is thanks to you. Happy new year and may your dreams come true.
your description of the weather makes me think you live in Canada as I do, LOVE Canada but the weather is something else, which is why its virtually all we talk about. Immigrated to Canada over 25 years ago
I agree with everything except the not remembering to shower thing. For me, there isn’t anything better than feeling the bed sheets on freshly cleaned skin. Such a unique feeling if you have a sensory thing. Best way to end the day for me and start anew. Although, I must admit I sometimes skip morning showers when I don’t sweat at night. 🤭
Hi, Desiree! I don’t know if you see this comment under a video that came out 2 weeks ago, if not, I’ll copy it under the next one. So I know it’s not the type of content you post on here, but for me it would be extremely interesting to learn about your background - who you were before you could live the life of your dream. What you studied, what you worked as, what your hobbies were, how you met Jared. I don’t mean it to be too personal, but realizing that an ordinary life can be turned into such an art would be amazing! Having a bridge in my mind from my life to the magic you show in your videos would be such an inspiration. I learn a bit about it when I watch your previous videos and the relatable parts are priceless.
Omg! That recipe book from your mom and grandma is everything.... my Nana handwrote recipes of my childhood and put them in a binder just like that. She passed away the next year and it is still such a special item that I will forever cherish.
The Jan Brett book unlocked a childhood memory of a book called the mitten? I think? I remember there being a hedgehog climbing into a mitten in the winter to stay warm but more and more animals climb in. It was on a hard style cardboard book but I LOVED looking at the pictures. These cozy videos always remind me of something forgotten in my childhood. Thank you and happy new year!
I'm a newer subscriber and have been going back to watch your previous videos (hence this comment on an older video!) I just wanted to say that you're videos have brought me so much comfort in a time where my anxiety has been crippling. You inspire me and make me feel like I can do things I previously thought I couldn't. Thank you so much for the lovely and whimsical content!!
My momma did something very similar for me a while back. She put recipes in her handwriting in there, as well as giving me recipes written by other people in my life that she had (such as a few from my Muz who had passed away years before) so I have not only their recipes but in their handwriting. It is still one of my prized possessions.
gift giving is also one of my strongest love languages. it's beautiful how much your loved ones take the time to curate such personalized and meaningful gifts. merry christmas and a happy new years to you all
If Little Woman puts you in a reading slump there are two more books after it!! Little Men, and Jo's Boys and they are both good! Thanks for the cozy winter feels💜
you got the ferrero bit right! In England we say ro-shay for the second word, but given it's a french name we are probably also wrong 😂! What beautiful gifts! I love to see Christmas haul, especially when you find people with the same tastes and interests as yourself! Happy New Year Desi, looking forward to another year of seasonal, cosy magic!
I was following and watching you for a while. Eventhough am much older, but your video can be for everyone. I love every video you made and can be watching it again and again. Even my husband watching it too, especially your Christmas video. I love baking and books, your review inspire me always to look for new recipe or buy other print of Little Women. And telling us having a bear doll is not only for kids but it self-care, it's so true! You bring so much joy to me and to our home. Thank you dear Desi! All the best wishes in 2023 to you and Jared and your entire family. Much 💖 from the Netherlands.
I was hoping you'd make a video like you did last year, one with your Christmas presents, and you did! I cheered. I just love the unique kinds of gifts you get. Your husband does such a good job!! And your other family members too. Also, I am so sorry for your health struggles. Gosh, so many are struggling with health issues these days. :( I guess a video about how you have handled things would be really helpful for me to see, but I suppose that is too personal, and maybe you wouldn't want to take away from your cheerful vibe. But do continue to take care of yourself and thank you for this fun video!
Thank you so much for another perfect video❤️❤️ Here in France, we call candy floss "Barbe à papa", which literally means "Daddy's beard"🤭 Happy new year to you and your family!❤️🎉🎉
Sarah Miller, author of Marmee, is also the author of Caroline which follows the story of Ma in Little House on The Prairie. I really enjoyed it and seeing her perspective. I hadn't heard of Marmee but I need to request it from the Library now!
How interesting - I will be looking for the Caroline book. It sounds like a book I would love. Growing up, I always related best to Laura, but now that my kids are grown and gone, I would love to read Carolines perspective. I have a feeling I will relate to that now.
Thank you, Desi for sharing your gifts, nostalgia, enthusiasm, and joy with us. Please don’t apologize for taking care of your health. All of us who enjoy your videos consider you a friend and want you to be well. May you continue to have love and happiness in the coming year and my your health improve. Happy New Year!
16:28 I love when you talked about books and how you want to referred them to your children in the future, it’s a sweet thing you attempt to do, I think you’ll become a lovely caring mother 🧚🏻💖
Candy floss in Spain is called 'algodón de azucar", which roughly translates as 'cotton sugar'. Oooh Ferrero Rocher are delicious, I thought they were universal though. Fun fact: during the summer they stop selling them over here because of the heat. I love all you gifts and I love that they're so thoughtful. And happy new year!
Candy floss is "hattara" in Finnish. I think it's a beautiful word. We also call those small white clouds sailing on a sunny sky "pilvenhattara", literally translated "cloud candy floss". Your videos are like a pilvenhattara I want to disappear into. I have generalized anxiety disorder and your positive, cheerful attitude and your courage to be you and enjoy the things you love in life teach me something in every video. Just you being you, but also your gift as a fellow creative person. The impostor syndrome is real but believe me, your talent is real and amazing.
Thank you for all of your videos this year. You are the reason for each season. I never start to feel "in the season" until I see your videos and it has helped me so much this year
The Christmas after I moved out my mom made me a family cook book too! I use more than any other cookbook and it means so much to me. She included her recipes, my great grandmother's (my mom's side), and both my grandmother's recipes too. It was such a wonderful gift and I am going to make one for my children as well.
Not only are you a good person and a kind soul, you put so much work and creativity into these videos. I come here for inspiration and joy and I always find both. So, thank *you* so much and Happy New Year!
The Encyclopedia of Tolken @ 11:10 is beautiful! For Christmas, I received the Jane Austen, The Great Gatsby, Edgar Allen Poe, the Brothers Grimm, and Hans Christian Andersen books in the same style. I believe they are Canterbury Classics. Enjoy your books and gifts. Thanks for showing them to us!! Happy New Year to you and Jared.
What a perfect way to end 2022 🥰❤️ Thank you so much for all the lovely videos you've created this year Desi, and for all the joy you bring. I hope 2023 will be filled with magical and wholesome moments for you and your lovely family 🥰😊💕✨️ Can't wait to see what great things the future has in store for you! Happy new year ✨️
So glad you had a wonderful Christmas! You are right, it is not about the presents. Spending time with people you love is a gift. I hope we all have a happy, healthy 2023.
I love you and your content Desi! Honestly, your videos have changed my life. I stumbled across your Victorian Morning Routine, and something, maybe the Holy Spirit, drew me to the rest of you videos. Through them I have discovered how precious and beautiful each moment is. I struggled with seasonal depression (still do a little:), but you have helped me find joy in romanticizing the wintery months, and for that I am forever grateful. Please know you are not only making SPECTACULAR aesthetic content, you are helping people's souls. God bless you, Desi! I will forever remember the impact you've had on my life.
I love ‘the Snowy Nap’. It is one of my favourite books! Jan Brett is wonderful. For Christmas my in-laws got me the edition of Pride and Prejudice with the letters, that I first heard about on your channel. I love it. 💕
Currently in my re-watching your Christmas content era ♥️ doesn't get much more Christmassy than this ♥️ don't mean to pry, but I'd really like to see what you got for Jared!
I watch you everyday and even repeat your videos . They make me happy and your such a dear sweet person just from what I see. So thank you for making my day happier each day .
Desi I am so happy I came across your channel! I work for the Cincinnati Public Library (best job ever!) and I love making notes of all your book recommendations. I too am a book hoarder something that I got from my late brother who would take me to every bookshop and used bookstores searching for the beautiful and rare 1st editions. This year I gave my nephew a signed 1st edition of Richard Adams Watership Down which was my brothers favorite book. Happy New Year to you!
I’d love to see what you gave Jared! So good to hear you explain the gift giving love language. My paternal parent thought love and dignity could be replaced with material items. That’s why I used to think gift giving was a bad love language to have-because I associated it with something less than loving. Then I felt myself starting to realize that it IS my love language. well, top two. And it’s for the exact same reasons you listed- to feel known and seen. I hope somebody who hasn’t yet realize this watches your video and realizes that it’s okay to be a gift giving love language.
Omg, the Tolkien and Sherlock Holmes books!!! 😍 I basically just got my husband books for Christmas - one of them being a similar history book on the world of Tolkien. I think I'm just as excited about it as he is. 😍😂 Happy New Year!!!
Your videos are a joy. Your enthusiasm and pleasure for life is a real pick-me-up for your viewers. I've read a few of your recommendations this year and the Hygge books are on my list for 2023 ('cosy' is one of my favourite words) Have a wonderful New Year and a healthy, lucky 2023. xx
I think we collect the same things 🤣 Julia child is amazing. There are so many steps and I have to be in the right frame of mind- my food is only ever as good as I feel when I'm making it.
Ahh, I got Tom Felton’s memoir for Christmas too! I really enjoyed it 😊 Your videos always bring me so much happiness. Wishing you the happiest of New Years, Desi! 💛
What a lovely ending to your video about the experiences and memories of Christmas 🥰 I spotted that Little Women edition in the Waterstones flagship store in Piccadilly (London) and was sooo tempted 😮
You are such a beautiful soul ❤ I look forward to your What I Got for Christmas video each year - they are so fun to watch! I LOVE the water carafe, I have been meaning to get one of those!
I spent the entire Christmas break sick in bed. I was separated from my boyfriend for our first Christmas which was hard. But this was just a super cozy video that helped me during the tough time. The hug at the end was deeply appreciated ❤ thank you for everything you do!
For some reason RUclips thinks I don't want these videos to pop up on my feed but I love it so much that every few weeks I look up this channel just to catch up on videos
⚜Your videos are so uplifting to watch~it’s wonderful to know that there are genuine people in the world like you who are so grateful for the small things. You are inspiring & truly make people want to be better & just enjoy life & its simple pleasures, like a hot cup of tea, warm pajamas or a sweater, a good book, & the love of family & furbabies. Thank you for what you bring to the world. May you have a joyful, healthy 2023!
Thank you all that you do and all that you share. Forgive me, I’m not the best at summing up my feelings with words, but you’ve been precious to me. Thank you for your optimism and inspiration. Your channel has been comforting to me!! Best wishes from me to you, as we enter 2023!!🎉❤
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Desi and fam, thank you for all your inspiration this year. Thanks to you I now burn candles when it gets dark because it makes winter feel so much sweeter. Take care and be well 🥰
I have that same bookmark at 19:42! my father bought it for me for my birthday and told me it had been handmade, it is so beautiful and I use it all the time :)
What beautiful gifts. I totally agree with you about spending time with family as the best present. It is being with people that makes memories that will be remembered in years to come.
Hi Desi! I just love all your cozy and warm vids. I enjoyed looking at all the great gifts too. Also a J. Austen fan as well as Louisa May Alcott's novels.
Hello, Desi! I discovered your channel recently, and your videos have made such a positive impact in my mental wellbeing. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart and wish you the best for the upcoming year. 💕
I genuinely love your videos and enjoy rewatching them to relax after a long day. They are so pretty and calming, and your positive attitude is so much fun to watch. Best wishes to you, Jared, D’artagnan, Binx and Benedict for the new year and thank you very much!
You had me at Jane Austen and Jan Brett! I’m new to your channel and instantly hooked on your cozy, romantic approach to life. Thank you for sharing your fabulous style and nostalgia!❤❤❤ Happy New Year!🎊 🎉

Candy floss in Afrikaans is “spookasem” which literally translates to ghost breath. 🤭
I love this!! 😍❤
Go SA lol
And in french it's Barbe à Papa, which means Dad's Beard 🤣
That is awesome! If I actually ate the stuff, I’d definitely call it ghost breath! Though I might try butterbeer flavor, sounds delicious.
That is so cool!
In Greece candy floss is called "malli tis grias(μαλλί της γριάς)" which translates to "old lady's hair" 😅
hahah I love it!
in Portugal we call it sweet cotton

I love all your gifts! So many books lol! I love books! But...that handmade bookmark is EVERYTHING! I love it so much!
Those Harry Potter pj’s are magical! 😍✨
For some reason RUclips thinks I don't want these videos to pop up on my feed but I love it so much that every few weeks I look up this channel just to catch up on videos
In Australia, we call cotton candy, Fairy Floss 🥰
⚜Your videos are so uplifting to watch~it’s wonderful to know that there are genuine people in the world like you who are so grateful for the small things. You are inspiring & truly make people want to be better & just enjoy life & its simple pleasures, like a hot cup of tea, warm pajamas or a sweater, a good book, & the love of family & furbabies. Thank you for what you bring to the world. May you have a joyful, healthy 2023!
I'm on a little bit of an emotional lump and this video was able to make me feel so much better ❤

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Desi and fam, thank you for all your inspiration this year. Thanks to you I now burn candles when it gets dark because it makes winter feel so much sweeter. Take care and be well 🥰
I'd love a 'how to enjoy January' like you did for November. I feel like Jan has so much potential but we all just end up feeling sad

What beautiful gifts.
I totally agree with you about spending time with family as the best present. It is being with people that makes memories that will be remembered in years to come.
you're a ray of sunshine in the middle of cold winter days

Here in the Netherlands candy floss is called ''suikerspin'' which if literally translated means sugar spider 🕷🍬 Happy New Year to you Desi!
That is so interesting and cool! Here it's cotton candy but I should start calling it candy floss.
In Norwegian it's called sukkerspinn which is sugar spin, never thought about it in relation to spiders but cobweb is (spin)delvev, so interesting!
@Eira Nergård haha, well spiders do have "spin-dly" legs & they do "spin" webs, so perhaps it all makes sense.
Love the name sugar spider♡
In Australia it’s called fairy floss
