- I loved this performance so much, I had to find it on the net when it disappeared on youtube and re-upload it for all to see. This is Jimmie's best performance, IMHO!
Look kids. This is real music.
Jimmie Vaughan. Pure Texas Blues Man....
There is no hipper band than the T-Birds especially the first lineup. They ROCK!!
The song, the whole band, that killer guitar riff, just awesome!!
Jimmy playing the hell out of that Fender Guitar
Love Jimmie Vaughan, he doesn’t get the respect he deserves! Stevie is not the only Vaughan who can place great Rock N Roll!!!!
Word !
Jimmie has that Texas sound in his blood. Massive tone! THIS is how you do it, youngsters.
Stevie was very proud of him
Him sliding effortlessly back to rhythm 2:19 mid solo then casually back to the solo is absolute masterclass.
@tomblomquist4513 That went both ways. I don't know what was in the water at that house, but the Vaughan brothers are truly something special.
@@tomblomquist4513 SRV learned that hipness of tone and mojo from big brother. You can hear it; MASSIVE!
Great harp player.dynamite power and endurance.i know.i play harp too.
So many people don’t get Jimmie. They just think he sucks compared to his little brother. But he’s actually a genius at work. If it sound super basic, it’s because it’s meant to: less is so often more, and Jimmie exemplifies that in his plying.
The Thunderbirds are the cool tough rockin homeboys of rock n roll, something the local bikers really can enjoy drinking beer. An outdoor cookout and beer rock n roll sound, so cool, chicano style home grown rock n roll.
I saw Jimmie and the Thunderbirds in 1989 , in downtown D.C. on the Potomac River. $5.00 chilli cook-off. He was fantastic. Still have pictures.
This will cure the CoVID blues.. What a freaking groove.
Show enough that's powerful stuff
It also cured my AIDS. 👍
This is rock at its finest. They did not get the credit they should have. Amazing group.
I just caught Covid 12/18/22. Feels like bad cold but today n yesterday I feel better.. Walked on the beach at Rio Del Mar n breathed sea air and let the sun warm me. Our sun is a healer.
Music you can dance to! Love it!!!
The most underrated guitarist of all time, Jimmie is one of best!!!!!!!!!!
Jimmie awesome tone on this tune... Playing his ass off too ! Wow
Wow Jimmy Vaughan is rocking here 👏
Jimmie is just burning on this! Tone, time, and feel. Such a stellar rhythm player and showing some sweet, deep Texas riffs. I love this.
Jimmie Vaughn and Kim Wilson. The best of the best. Two great artists tearing the place up. Love Ya Jimmie. Tone to the bone. Kim is scary good. Loop this at my funeral boys.
fo sho.
For me one of the most important guitar players of all time. He brings the fifties sound and put it in a "modern"way. Maple neck joy! THE SOUND!
leaves me speachless. tight vocals, driving bass, pounding drum and that flowing guitar. Jimmie soars.
Brilliant..Jimi Vaughn looks like the coolest guy on the planet on this...What a player...
*Jimmie Vaughan
He is the coolest guy on the planet
Cool and awesome are the new mediocre... people see a boring red convertible and say it's cool, or a peanut butter sandwich and say it's awesome. Music like this is so much more than those very average, every day things. Oh, and there's no such thing as a bunch of water either (".)
Howard Grüffüdd Bit like your comment then, howie boy..
They don't come much cooler than Jimmy Vaughan
Jimmy does lead and rhythm together, amazing performance, one of the best.
the best
Great sound out of that Strat. Excellent.
I never get past Jimmie and Kim and how great this band was all the time. Not a blues but Texas rock and killin' it! WOW!
Jimmie’s playing is so laser-like. It really brings out the bellchiming abilities of the strat in a heavy tone.
Wow Jimmy was on FIRE! I've never seen him play like this before wow! Great performance!
They aren't called Fabulous for nothing!
Jimmy just shards this performance for
That WAS very good! Agreed.
The great Jimmie Lee!!
He always plays like that
Stevie should be proud!!!
Thank you for uploading to RUclips!! Great perfomance.
One of the coolest tunes ever.
Right from the kick off, the tone in that riff, you just knew it was gonna be good.
Yes indeed ❤
Kim Wilson is an all time great singer.
Facts
i totally concur
Love Jimmie and Kim. The entire band. Love the way Kim moves. So hot.
And KILLER harp player as well!
@@vayabroder729and band leader, wish Stevie Rayy opened up to him about troubles or responded to good advice. Los Fabulous always delivered, even in a small bar on a Thursday night.
Whoa! That's powerful stuff! Great song. Love it.
A very cool tone that Jimmie gets. Thanks for putting it out here for us all!
Jimmie's tubes on this song sound like they are on fire in the amp. Best he ever sounded. Wish he had unleashed himself more like this.
Thunderbirds are sensational..and the drummer doing fantastic..Jimmy Vaughan is explosive on that guitar..sounds like that guitar is speaking..Kim Wilson is a great singer along with Kim's backup base player..great music
So awesome...sexy blues...the Fabulous Thunderbird way! I miss their music and nothing today even comes close to the masterful T-birds...nothing!
Jimmy killed it.
41 years old, just found Stevie and Jimmie today and cannot believe I have only just discovered, you know what......feels like I just fell in love with music all over again.
Never too late.
Welcome to the COOL ZONE our salvation from mainstream music.
nope music is ageless
TEXASFENDERBENDER
true fenderbender
You'll enjoy for the rest of your life, the Vaughan brothers music is special, in Texas we love them.
These comments always crack me up. If Jimmy had any other brother in the world, you guys would be singing his praises for the maestro he is. The man is amazing!
This is definitely better than the Studio version and the studio version kicks ass as well!! oooooh Yeaaaaaa!!
Jimmies rhythm is always impeccable.
9 years later, I still think so!
Love Jimmie V. This is as good as it gets. Just one nasty guitar behind a rock solid rhythm section. Thanks.
If you don’t know Jimmie, you miss out big time if you think you love Stevie. Jimmie hits me in the gut and heart in ways Stevie doesn’t, and I saw SRV twice, once with the T-Birds
This IS DEFINITELY some Kick Ass Rockin' Blues!! Jimmie is in Top Form here!!!!
People are always saying S.R.V. was so much better a player than Jimmie. Well, on this song Jimmie gets a better tone than Stevie ever got with his load of amps! Jimmie tears it up.
Jimmy Vaughan and Kim Wilson ..the legends are on stage singing out and guitaring it around the world to the fans..This is Powerful Sruff..great band in step with the beat and rhythem..
out of this world solo from jimmie, super tasteful and that tones unreal
Great Sound love it, great vocals and Jimmy's guitar playing .Super Band , blow Covid of the stage
What great Entertainment of the Thunderbirds..Kim Wilson is terrific singer and harmonica player..and Jimmie Vaughan is a great strat guitar player..some powerful music coming through to the fans..terrific band..love the rhythem and lyrics..this will make u.you wanna get up and twist and shout..r you with me? Jimmie is putting out a lot of sound on that strat and not missing a cord..
Absolutely Fabulous...Rythmic section...Groovy jimmy guitar!! I will listen to this version all my life. Many thanks for sharing
Hey! You are not alone!. These guys are on fire in this video, and yes Jimmie nails it all the way through. This i exactly what i
experienced in the late 70's in Copenhagen, Denmark. 3 full hours with Jimmies guitar and so much powerfull stuff that you wouldnt believe it. I had to scratch my back to get back into reality ;-)
I sure am glad to see this back on youtube... one of their very finest rock performances.
Great band. And Kim Wilson moves and sings so well. Guy's in a groove!
Well, that was awesome! Jimmie was so handsome back then. I could watch him all day. 😀😍
Wow!! Thanks a Hell of a lot. I was pissed when they took this down. Anybody who thinks Stevie was not directly influenced by his Brother needs to see this solo.
Amen brother! You are very welcome. Jimmy was on fire - uber cool.
Just enjoyed Jimmie Vaughans concert in Knoxville. Great today, as he was 30 years ago.
Watching Jimmie made me want to pick up guitar and take lessons. Watching Stevie Ray made me want to give it up!!!
too true!!
great comment dude
Sounds like a backhanded compliment to Jimmie.
I felt like that when I heard Stevie for the first time :)...
well said..!!
God damn that is a monster guitar tone. Stevie was better technically but I always thought Jimmie was more unique and had more swagger. This is a perfect example. Impeccable rhythm and the nastiest overdrive I've ever heard.
Stevie always said his favorite guitar player was Jimmy. When asked why Stevie said "He's real GREASY". Now THAT'S one way to put it eh? LOL
Me too , just discovered jimmie!
@@dcrimmen you sure he wasn’t referring to Jimi?….
@@mrjamesgrimes It's in Guitar Player Magazine. LOL Let me know when you find it. -Peace
@@mrjamesgrimes Gross.
"...make a blind man take a second look.." Where are these type of clever lyrics today. I know everyone thinks Stevie was the all time great, but I'd take Jimmie any day. Man, he is on fire here!
this is amazing! this is Jimmie's best song he ever made
Oh this is so good...loving it!!
My friends give me grief because I prefer Jimmy over Stevie but I love that sustain Jimmy throws out there! Lord I know Stevie had more chops.
SRV always said it was the opposite. He always said he went out there and played 100% of what he knows. When Jimmy goes out there, he's only doing 10% of what he can do.
This is absolutely fabulous . . . they get a real solid groove going - thanks for putting it up!
Great Riffs and a powerful performance by these guys from my home state of Texas !!
This recording is just so damned out of this world! Jimmie sound and playing are so much top class. I never get tired of listening/watching this !.
great stuff from Kim and Jimmy Thanks Guys Great Performance !!!
Damn...I wish I had the millionth amount of guitar talent Jimmie Vaughan has. What a fucking cool player. SRV was out of this world, but my favourite was always Jimmie.
This is amazing! I have never seen this video. This is my favorite FTB song and this version blows the recorded version. The guitar is out of this world. Just amazing. Thank you
Always very Impressive . They don't get way out on a Limb . And They Do It Very Well ! ! ! So many have Risen to the Top of the Rock . The Fabulous Thunderbirds Did ! God Bless 🙏 All .
amazing no matter how many times I play this
Jimmy is on fire here. Pure guitar bad assery
Love this clip. Tone just doesn't get much better than this. I've long thought that Jimmie is one of the most underrated guitarists. People criticise him for not being as flashy and quick as his little brother was. But what I most love about him is the way he holds back. It's a bare bones, old school, less-is-more kind of thing....and it's awesome.
Comment on point!
Sometimes it’s the notes you don’t play that say so much. I first heard the T-Birds (1986) before discovering SRV (1989), but while I prefer Stevie’s beyond this earth playing, I still love Jimmie’s chops and ultra-coolness. He steps up, rips the song to shreds, and seems to say “Yeah? How about that?” when he’s finished.
Yes,.. Jimmie keeps the rhythm going strong,... very syncopated playing style. hmmmmmm,,..I think ,......."Think",.... John Lee Hooker on steroids,..if ya will.
Jimmie, unrecognised blues hero.
dyslecticbitch Hear, hear.
Jimmy taught Stevie how to play...
KarlGustaf agreed, 100%, his day will come, I promise.
Wildman but there comes a point where the student exceeds the teacher and Stevie Ray did that, and it's because of Stevie's dedication to the craft was so much more than anyone, his brother included.
Not sure that happened here. SRV once told guitar magazine that when he goes out there, he puts out about 80% of what he can do, but when Jimmie goes out there, you're only getting about 10%. Jimmie's mellow playing isn't the limits of what he can do - it is what he _likes_ to do.
One of the greatest Band ever!!!
And Jimmie is a Groovemonster!!!
Amazing performance by Fabulous Thunderbirds!
the fabulous thunderbirds were the band in there time. too!!Bad we all have to get older....hay babe!! thanks for sharing the video..
both Wilson and Vaughan are still going strong; recording and performing. Kim Wilson also still goes out under the FT name. Always good players in the band....
STUNNING PERFORMANCE!
I'm proud to have seen Jimmie live!
As a teen, I saw Jimmie many times in Dallas. He was one of the best guitarists in Dallas at the time. Late 60's.
Man what a unique sound they had.
FLIPPIN GREAT STUFF
Jimmie certainly has an unmatched style of execution on his ax as well as his vocals. His uniqueness reminds a lot of the uniqueness of J.J.Cale . You can love em but you can't imitate either of them. because they both possess some powerful stuff. Along with Stevie Ray, Albert King and Albert Collins they have to be my biggest influences in every facet of musical perfection and genius. A great video. thanks for sharing. ~Keith Price~
Jimmy never overplays and Kim Wilson can sing and play harp great .
Kim is underrated as a front man. The guy had pipes.
@@jasonhuddleston2636 Still has, thank God 😉
The Fab T Birds. Powerful vocals, bassist is low and flows with his precision licks, tge drummer rumbles in your chest but never iverpowers tge band, a perfevt compliment to the others ... that leaves guitarist Jimmie Vaughan. Wow! Such a talented player with skill precision, bends those strings to an extra 100 miles screaming with the precision of a fine tuned swiss watch. Jimmie is a seasined premiere guitarist. Hands down obw if tge best and stringest influence to brother Stevie Ray He's easy on the eyes as well. Always good looking these talented Vaughan Boys of Mom, Martha and their hardworking and sometimes overly tough Dad, Mr. Vaughan a union worker installing asbestos still had time for music and swing dancing. Four uncles were talented guitarists, siblings of his Mom and Dad. They were surrounded with music and guitar playing at an early age. Tgeir Dad brought other musicians aroubd further exposing the young Vaughan Bros. to more pointers and hiw to's which the practiced and pkayed for guests at the request of their father. Jimmie, playing on his Montgomery Ward and Stevie with his little Sears Cowboy guutar entertained tge guests who smiked and said with encoyragement. Keep practicing and pkaying, one day yall might make a record together...lol. The rest is history.
Yep. Jimmie Vaughan is smoking hot and and one talented quitar player in the Fabulous line up.
JIMMIE VAUGHN AWESOME GUITAR
Best Performance Ever!!!
This was Jimmy Vaughans ambition in his life and you know what..He was successful choosing his rhythem and the blue's..Great musician and has a legacy..sensational stuff
Waay cool video! Seeing St. Louis' own Preston Hubband kicking it and oh so young! Awesome! Great footage of all; Jimmy, Kim, Preston!!!!
Awesome....Jimmy kicks Ass...thanks or sharing
Amazing tone and rhythmic feel. Thanks for uploading!
thats the video JLV haters need to watch. you can CLEARLY see where SRV found his foundations for his future legendary tone/sense of rhythm/licks from. thats almost 50% JLV 40% Hendrix 10% Albert King
JLV haters??? Who could possibly be that dumb?
the dude who thinks Kim doesn't appreciate Jimmie - doesn't get it - he is jamming to him the entire way through it - as would I !!!
This is seriously POWERFUL STUFF!!!! - Jimmie is the real deal - and Kim knows it!!
Caught a show in Cincinnati right before they hit the big time my God they were beyond fabulous.
Diggin' that Jimmie action baby.
I love the guitar work. I like the live version better than the studio version. I can't think of another song like that.
Jimmy brilliant , singer just as good .
Great performance all round
Just frickin badass . Such attitude, this performance had some stank on it.
Jimmie has such a great guitar sound on this. Plus he's playing in D standard tuning to give it a lot more punch. Powerful Stuff INDEED!!!
You sure? Jimmie himself has said he only played in standard tuning and only every used a simple overdrive ... if indeed anything at all. Obviously is this one he's using that overdrive. I can't really see why/where he's using D tuning.
So glad there is a video of Jimmie Vaughan's performance.
I lived in Austin from 1971 to 1981. Antone's and the T-Birds. So great.
Jimmy Vaughan rocking on the guitar.
Love those bluesy Texas rifts, that comes from the soul. Love it
I agree I came back after listening to Los Lonely Boys
