Ha 😊 you can't beat a bit of bow and stern thrusters... That boat didn't look to be using em , if they were they were also in reverse lol ..... I like to uses em especially when its busy ... parallel mooring and leaving your mooring is great in tight spots ... Or with limited crew 😊
the big boats they all have an airdraft of about 8 ft 6" give or take (they over estimate the same way the bridge water depth markers underestimate). I went under Ludham a few times last week with a commander and if I had believed the markers, I wouldn't have attempted it espcially when it was raining heavily.
@@philambrose5866 I'm here in the us don't know how all the boat classifications are. I knew when I type the message that they were narrow boats but I don't know what they call those kind of boats?
@@danielsplayhouse3804 soz didn't realise you were across the pond. Narrow boats are no wider than 6ft 10 inches wide and are usually found on our canal system , there are some wider boats upto 10 or 12 ft wide but the width of them restricts their cruising abilities The boats on the Broads are known as cruisers and measure upto 13ft. and can be found on many of our rivers as well as the Broads I and my wife spent 10 years living and cruising aboard a 13ft X 40ft cruiser and then sold up and bought a 60ft narrow boat for a further 10 years. I preferred the narrow boat in every respect but it did demand a higher level of boatmanship. Hope the above explains something about British waterways. Regards, Phil
These huge boats are not really suitable for inland waterways. To be honest there is now nothing picturesque about the Broads. We had a couple of holidays on the Broads many years ago, and the majority of boats were sail boat and the odd converted Navy boats. All you see now are huge blobs of white plastic, a great pity.

Yep John, I can handle a boat with no bowthruster but it makes sooo much difference with one, especially when crew member is not so active!

When you see people holding boat hooks, you know the helm has no seamanship nor boat handling skills.
Sorry didnt catch what you said ' you have hired many boats and you have never had a ............ Must be my ears. 6.24
I’ve never used a bow thruster. I thought that sounded a bit too!
