There is nothing better than heading to the river and escaping the city at every opportunity. I’m so lucky to live within driving distance of the Norfolk Broads. This is where I film and spend most of my free time, I just love watching the boats going past and meeting great people. If you enjoy the same then please subscribe. You’ll usually find me with my dog Millie.
It’s an early Sunday morning at Ludham Bridge and it’s heaving with activity!
‘Allo! While the wind blows and the rain falls, let’s cast our minds back to last summer with more unseen memories at the bridge. I got there early and it was a beautiful day and the boats were out early to enjoy the sunshine. I’m also joined by a special guest star by voice only….. I hope you enjoy….

It wouldn’t be a bank holiday weekend with out bumps, scrapes and queues at Ludham Bridge!

‘Ello! Welcome back! I filmed this video on the Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend 2024. It’s been edited to go out as a usual video so I don’t actually remember why I didn’t post this before. I was on the boat overnight so I must have used the Saturday evenings footage instead. It’s a bonus for us as we get some action during winter! Anyway it’s busy busy busy with bridge scrapes and bu...
Training day for the Hemsby Lifeboat! (Featuring Millie and a seal)

‘Ello! Today I’m away from the Broads and headed down to the sea and ended in Hemsby. The intention was to do an update on last winters erosion there but surprise the lifeboat was out! I thought it was an emergency to start but they were out training. Still it was fabulous to witness this and share it with you. I hope you enjoy, these guys are the best!
I’m out enjoying the beauty of the broads in winter and get to see some cruisers too! Come join me…

Ello! I’m filming from the boat in today’s video and it was magnificent even though it was very cold! I was initially looking for the snow that fell but it had all mostly melted. Needless to say I’m in my happy place and I wanted to try and share the magic of being on the water.
An extremely busy morning at the crazy bridge! #unseenfootage

‘Ello! Here’s another video that I never finished and put out there in RUclips land. It was a very busy morning starting with a rescue of a little vole/mole from drowning in the river! Well done lads that saved him! It was a Sunday morning and it was a very busy one! I hope you enjoy today’s video.
It’s nearly Christmas but let’s have some Ludham Bridge entertainment!

Ello and Merry Christmas! I hope you enjoy today’s video, I don’t honestly remember when I filmed this but it was a Saturday afternoon/evening so if you see yourselves then let me know in the comments! Thank you for all your support over the last year and have a great Christmas.
A winters day trip down the river from Ludham Bridge to Potter Heigham.

‘Ello! After a bit of a break from filming, which I have totalled missed more than I realised, I dusted off the camera and as it was a lovely sunny day we took the boat out for a trip. We came down from Stalham but I started filming at Ludham Bridge and ended up at Potter Heigham for an overnight stay. I hope you enjoy today’s video. Oh and after watching this back the annoying blob at the bott...

As Storm Darragh batters the UK, I hope you are all safe out there! We were on the boat yesterday and overnight! We must have been in the eye of the storm in the afternoon but I was woken about 1am this morning and I’ve never experienced anything like it before! We were being thrown about like mad and I’m glad I used all four ropes to secure us. Crossing Barton Broad was fun heading home though...
Missing a busy river? Maybe I can help with more unseen footage at Ludham Bridge.

A sailing boat stuck in a tree and unseen Ludham Bridge antics!

Ello! Todays video is more unseen footage that I have filmed over the 2024 season. We start off at Irstead. We were getting shouted at from the bank and we were told a crash had happened just round the bend. I assumed it was a collision of two boats only to be confronted by a sailing boat that had got its mast stuck in a tree! We then move on to Ludham Bridge where it was all happening as usual...
A rescue and a storm at Acle Bridge! (Unseen 2024 footage)

Ello! The season might be over but I’ve been busy this year filming a little bit extra everytime I was out either at Ludham Bridge or out on the boat. So hopefully I’ve enough footage to see us through the winter! 🤞 Anyway today we are at Acle Bridge, the river was busy, the weather was rain and followed by an amazing thunderstorm, so let’s see what happens. As always please feel free to let me...
That’s all folks! Well for this year anyway....

Ello! Well that’s it for this year, there are still boats about but the river is lovely and quiet! We start of at St Benets Abbey and enjoyed some free firework displays and headed to an empty Ludham Bridge. The highlight was seeing the Barton sailing club taking away their floating pontoons to their winter moorings. Filmed in 4k as usual. I hope you enjoy this video.

The people on Royale Light are quite possibly the dumbest crew I've seen in a long time. The women casually sitting atop without properly getting up to take cover was unbelievable
First boat crew were clueless. Going in at that angle, blind, was asking for trouble
Oh that looked so nice , it really cheered me up , roll on spring again .
Thanks! Can’t wait for spring either!
Oh July July July! No winds, no floods, no clouds 😂 Can't wait to get into the season again!!
Same here!
You put these videos on yet dont bother to activate the subtitles. Some of us cannot hear well if at all. You next video unless activated i will cancell the subscriber facility.
Thanks Tony, the subtitle option is on but it takes time for RUclips to catch up, I could do it manually but I haven’t got time for that. So up to you if you wanna subscribe or not. All the best.
Thank you for this video. I think it is the first time I see sun and blue sky on your channel !🙂 A question : could most of those boats go through british canal's locks, or are they too wide ?
After watching Canal Journeys this evening, I think most will be too wide to fit through.
They would be ok on the wide canal locks like the Leeds Liverpool canal has.
OK on the Scottish canals - Crinan, Forth & Clyde, Caledonian - as they were built to take sea going vessels. The hire boats on the Caledonian Canal are mostly Broads type cruisers, and there are no bridges to restrict height. Unlike the shallow Broads, the deepest part of the canal is around 900 feet deep (Loch Ness).
Some Broads cruisers would fit on part of the canal network, but not on sections with 7ft wide locks. That said, I don’t fancy pitting a GRP Broads boat against a steel narrowboat.
Hi Jonny, what a beautiful day! Very busy at Ludham bridge, however, everything seems to be going well. It’s seven o’clock in the morning here and 22 going to 35 degrees Celsius today. Have a great week, from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks Scott! Have a great week!
We had a dual helm for the first time last September.......hmmnnnn only forgot once😂😂
😂😂
Bungled switching helm once on Day 4, of our trip, but thankfully it was on a reed fringed, empty stretch of the Yare, so no harm done. Coming back north at slack water five days later, assumed we would have similar clearance to journey south, so we stayed up top. Had to duck and steer through Yarmouth bridges crouched down as water level had already risen by a couple of feet. Won't make that mistake again! We had journeyed south on a similar air draft cruiser before, so should not have been caught out. I'll blame the blue sky and brilliant sunshine!
Wow , that was a really busy time , i think richos boats are definitely getting bigger , & i bet they're not cheap to hire either .
Daaaaaaaammmmmnnn
Allo, oooo, oooooo.... im last :P
😂😂😂😂😂
Allo J. What camera did you use to film this vid? It’s so crisp and clear!
Allo! Thanks, I filmed this on an iPhone 15 pro max, on the 4K setting.
@@jonnytreehouse- Wow. Phone cameras are so good now. It honestly looks like it was filmed on a high end video cam.
@MrRoadtrippa thanks ☺️
Ps was first time 😂😂
Was there m8 you missed me by minutes I was pinned on the opposite side against a poor fisherman in the reeds engine malfunction the commanda and the swan ranger where with me I had the silver mist got stuck switching from lower to upper helm just on the bend behind where you were filming hope to see you this season really enjoy your vids
Thank you for this video. It looks as if there were many "learners" that day. Or was it because of the wind or the current ?🙂
It was the first full day of most of the boats out there so I’d say ‘learners’ lol
Hi Jonny, Ludham bridge never fails to entertain! And all it has to do is sit there like a giant carbuncle on the face of the River Ant! Thank you for the video, most enjoyable. All the best from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks for uploading, just what we need on the cold winter days. If you're watching,,, give it a like 😊
Always great uploads, thanks Jonny👍
Thanks ☺️
Talk about a third world country. Honestly, all the money that is wasted on rubbish and our lovely lifeboat chaps are having to come down a home made slip way to save people's lives at sea.
Do those boats have bow thrust?
Some do some don’t.
Hi Jonny, that was an interesting video. They do a similar thing with fishing boats at Castlepoint in New Zealand. Google it! Have a good week. From Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
We have a similar set up on the Isle of Wight, great to watch the RNLI on open days
Thank you for this interesting video. It's amazing to see how deep in the water the tractor goes !🙂 I'm wondering if he is not completly waterproof, as we see a tube (for air and exhaus ?) on the top of the cabin.
You are welcome! As for waterproofing and the workings of an internal combustion engine I wouldn’t have a clue! They were hosing out it down with fresh water when I left
Allo !
A very relaxing cruise down the Ant. I felt like I was there. Thanks J. 👍
At 7:30 I notice that Mollimac is safely moored on Irstead parish staithe, unlike her encounter with anglers on 5 March last year.
Oh was it that boat? Thanks for letting me know! I saw the footage, just didn’t click the boats name.
Love cruising when the water is so calm, almost feel a little guilty for disturbing it 😂
Yes it’s magical and I feel the same way! I’m forever looking behind the boat lol!
it's astonishing how many don't sound their horns .
A lot do but I don’t catch it on film.
Hi johnny , lovely little video ,what camera do you use ?, everywhere always looks so bare & drab this time of year , must be nice having river to yourself , happy new year to you & take care .
Thank you ☺️ happy new year to you. This one I filmed on my phone!
Hey you two ,miss the boat can’t wait to get back ❤
Hey, your boat is fine, I meant to message you today xx
Allo, a little trip down the river!!! woof woof
Thank you for this video. At 1:18 you had a red beacon on your right side and green ones on the left side. It meant you were going toward the sea ? Or is the buoyage different from the open sea one ?
Oh I’m not sure, I just make sure we don’t venture the other side of them. Hopefully someone will let us know
When entering a port from the sea, or going up river, you keep the red markers on your port side and the green markers on your starboard side. It’s the reverse when travelling down the river.
@@scottlewisparsons9551 You're right and the Broads Authority web site says the same: When travelling downstream towards the sea at Gt Yarmouth you should pass red markers on your right and green markers on your left. Travelling upstream (away from the sea at Gt Yarmouth), you should pass green markers on your right and red markers on your left. Channel markers advice - Broads Authority
@@scottlewisparsons9551 Thank you for your answer. So, as I thought, it is the same buoyage than the open sea.🙂
@@jonnytreehouse You missed pointing out that you said you were starting from Stalham and were about to reach Barton Broad. That means you were proceeding towards the sea at Great Yarmouth.
Hi Jonny, wow! Thank you for a wonderful video! I enjoyed it very much. Excellent photography, beautiful winter scenes….and no Ludham bridge! It did look very cold though. Doing a trip like this in winter definitely has its advantages, peace and quiet with the odd boat thrown in to make things interesting. Have a great week, from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
It was magical, love having the river to ourselves. Hope you are ok
Very good thank you. Had an afternoon, evening out with my wife and son. We went to Watsons Bay on the harbour, walked along a different track to normal and found where the ww2 submarine boom went across the harbour entrance. We then went to Bondi beach and had dinner at the Pavilion, an iconic building which had recently been renovated. The company I worked for did the quantity surveying for the project. Have a good day.😊
Thank you Jonny great watching this. Just to show us what we are missing. Happy New year to you both. 🎉🎉 xxx
Another great video of the luscious Ludham Bridge. All the best and happiness in the new year from Portugal. 👍
Hi Jonny, thank you for another great video. I hope that Christmas was everything that you wanted it to be. All the best for the new year. From Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
Happy new year boys and thanks for the videos.
Thank you for this video. Most of the boats we see looks the same (2 or 3 differents types ?). Are they mainly hired boats ?
Yes the majority are hire boats, only a couple I filmed are privately owned.
i hope you have a good new year johnny with plenty of videos and lots of sunshine
Thank you! Happy new year! 🥳
I hope you have a great Christmas and hope, maybe, to spot you on the river next year. It's great to see what is, or has been, going up there. Thanks for the hard work editing and uploading.
Thank you, yes if you see me next year, give me a big shout!
Another great video. Our weekly Broads fix. Can understand people being wary coming upstream. Between the limited view northwards through the bridge, the private boats moored on the western bank, the various boats around the boatyard, and the river bend as you approach, it ain't a clear run. Much easier heading downstream. At least, I always find it easier going downstream, even though it usually means we are nearing end of our adventure. Love the Ant. Have a great Christmas and best wishes for the New Year. We might get a chance to have a week or two boating in 2025. Been too long.
You must not have a life
Your point?
Please explain your statement. It doesn’t make sense. Jonny obviously is alive as he made this video. Also, quite a lot of people enjoy watching them, me included.
@scottlewisparsons9551 thanks Scott
@@ramblingrob4693 you know that it's not mandatory to watch. Some of us sados actually enjoy watching the boats go by.
@@NorfolkBroads-ThroughGreatYarm Merry Christmas! I know that it is a bit cold over there. I hope you have a great day. Yes, I enjoy watching the boats too. It is quite relaxing, although I do like it when something happens! All the best from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
