Not a mechanic but I had this issue. Was a bad battery contact. Cleaned it and no more problems. The power steering draws a lot of power from the alternator. Could be enough to get the voltage low enough to brown out ( reset) the PCM (powertrain control module). So first thing, I'd check the battery terminals are clean and wires screwed properly. If problem persist, check the alternator (disconnect battery while engine runs, if it dies: bad alternator). Should also check the battery with a proper tester. Hope this helps.
After cleaning the connector and adding die electric grease....i put gasket material around the connecting point and also wrapped the connector in plastic wrap for extra measure...haven't had this issue since.
There is another power cable at the battery positive terminal. I accidentally disconnected it while removing my battery. This also can result the motor not running and the steering stiff to turn. Hope this helps others to troubleshoot
Ok I owe you big time .I have been searching for where that wire goes and was about to buy a new rack when I decided to read comments. Thank you so much , your comment has just got my 6 year project complete
I did this, and it worked as a charm. Two days later it went back to the same but then it fixed it self. It did this back and forth for a few days on its own. Why is this? Do I need to clean it again? I have not added any fluid since I first cleaned it.
My 2010 mazda 3 is having the same issue steering is hard to move and light just doesn't go...i took it to mazda dealership but they gave me 2500 cost and told me that the problem is the wiring harness
Hello I have no lights on dash but it’s stiff when I turn right…..what’s the problem…..please help Ps iv cleaned the grey connectors and still stiff turning right…..I’m going to sand off and rust/dirt from the 2 ground near the same area see if that helps…….my rx8 was sat for 7 years…..I put a new battery in an within 10 minutes it started…..
You need to put the key in start position but don't crank it, then you'll want to turn your wheel all the way to the right till it stops and then the opposite direction and it should recalibrate
@@nicholasmilazzo4442 thanks for the reply….iv tried that but didn’t work….iv taken it to a garage they told me I need a new steering module then I questioned them and 2 days later they told me I need a new steering rack….would that be true
I've had it for about 6 months and I'm trying to figure out everything about myself,. I even climb up in the engine and clean my baby girl. But I was watching the video damn I wish I had some help.. I'm going to get out they're in the morning with your video and try to do it myself...Well I'm going to give it a try.
I only like your for a long time but I drove all the way down to Key West when that bad cold front came through and I fell in love with her. But she is a b***ch wanting premium gas and 2-stroke
I will install it after filter upgrade video, I made a cool video showing how you can customize your air box to fit a cone filter without damaging any parts

Actually that’s an Excellent idea, I noticed my radiator return line is leaking radiator fluid more then expected especially on hot days
Ive been looking for a DIY for this. Thank you.
Your welcome
Why does the problem keep coming back? No coolant goes there anymore and the grounds are clean. Is the rack replacement next step?
