@honeyv777 I literally stopped buying spam cause it was so expensive, today I bought the cheap 2 dollar walmart brand cause I said FUCK IT I'm making musubi 😭😭😭😂
I just made this, it’s so good. It’s pretty salty because spam is naturally salty, so don’t go too heavy on the soy sauce if you don’t want it like that.
or add some more sugar!! soy sauce and brown sugar is a go to way to make teriyaki sauce at home. so its supposed to actually make it a little sweeter even after reducing it. its the general ingredients for the sauce in a musubi
I didn't have any mayo, nori, or scallions, but I did follow this recipe. I also used a few cracks of black pepper and added a small spoonful of oyster sauce to round out the flavors. I also fried my eggs because I wasn't patient lol, but it turned out delicious! I wish I could embed the picture I took :)
Love spam, ate it regularly growing up as it was affordable for struggling families. But my mom and dad were both skilled cooks and made it taste delicious in whatever they made. Love it in kimchi fried rice!!!!
A Korean friend of mine told me that SPAM was often given as a gift during Chuseok. Even gift wrapped. Perhaps the reason for the price increase, is because of all the recent videos that include it in so many recipes. My favorite (and I just finished cooking it tonight) is with rice, a sunny side up egg, kimchi, cheese and toasted seaweed. 😋
I love musubi but I never had one of the presses, nor the patience to make individual musubi. So I put a cup of rice in the bowl, my spam musubi (a whole can because high blood pressure ain’t got nothin on me) and topped with sesame seeds. Sometimes an egg in the middle. Always a good meal. Comfort food but I’m a suburban white American.
In Hawaii spam is locked up in most places bc people steal it. It has made it more irritating to wait for a worker to grab it for you. My local grocery store doesn't lock it up and I hope they keep it that way. When it goes on sale, a case or 3 are bought up asap by locals 😂
College students: Spam too expensive? (Which it is), substitute for bologna. Fried bologna is awesome too. Plus, recipe number two: fried egg, fried bologna, cheese (optional), on two pieces of bread with mayo and hot sauce (also optional).
Depending on the country others are from. Spam can be pretty pricey as they are usually imported. Which is why people would usually buy brands of luncheon meat that exist in their countries instead of going for Spam. a can of spam in Singapore cost like $5 USD. Alternative brands that exist in Singapore cost like $3 USD Sometimes they do have special deals if you buy more. like let's say 2 for $5 USD and they usually weight more then spam itself.
I don't eat spam because it's not halal but i do like the halal substitute!! I mean it looks and smells the same. Before anyone asks how i know is smells, i have a non muslim friend who actually brought spam musubi for her lunch sometimes!
@@Chill_Jillok? No need to be such an asshole, they just shared their experience, y’know, exactly what the comment section is for. Move along if you don’t like it.
I absolutely LOVE spam but I barely found out it contains so much calories. A small little can is like over 1000 calories. So of course between that and how processed it is, it is a seldom enjoyable yummy treat.
The only thing I'd change is the egg - I always just drop a raw egg into my hot rice and stir vigorously. Works just like carbonara and gives a much better overall texture imo
Ohhiee it’s me again. Just commented on a recent short but. What am I missing like why does my sauce burn when I do it? I use med/high heat on non stick cookware🤷♀️
Question - What is the storage recommendation, if I cook a bunch of eggs, at a time, like that... can I just refrigerate what I don't eat and if yes, how long will they last?
If you get the regular spam soak it in water to take the saltiness out for 5 minutes. I get Spam at Walmart 2 in a pack for $6.78 Costco has it reasonable
spam is expensive where i’m from 😭 they even keep it in the expensive aisle portion of the store where i am too scared to even step foot in
It's $4 in California for that price I'll get 2lbs of regular deli ham .....I buy the Walmart brand one whenever I'm craving spam it's 2$ 🤷♀️
try looking for korean spam if you have asian marts near you. They're more affordable.
@honeyv777 I literally stopped buying spam cause it was so expensive, today I bought the cheap 2 dollar walmart brand cause I said FUCK IT I'm making musubi 😭😭😭😂
bologna is the next best option for bulk
Yeah here in vancouver the cheapest packaged ham from the grocery store still costs about 4.49/lb and spam on sale is $5.31/lb and thats like 25% off
this guy needs to be more noticed
Its rice and spam. When i saw the spam i knew what was next. Fo something new spam and potatoes 🥔 something boring 😴 this makes me want to read n sh**
I just made this, it’s so good. It’s pretty salty because spam is naturally salty, so don’t go too heavy on the soy sauce if you don’t want it like that.
Good point it tastes insanely salty
I but the reduced salt spam just for this reason.

"inexpensive" pulls out expensive can of spam
???
@@marcus3591 I think the price of spam varies in diiferent locations
so that may be why he said spam is expensive
It does. That’s how everyone here found him.
It’s expensive now but it was known as a relatively cheap food. Blame Tik Tok.
Where I'm from it has been expensive for quite some time now.
It’s amazing thank you for posting
When I was a kid, spam and the Vienna sausages were life.
Food like this is my favorite.
I made it, was amazing:3
Love Spam! Got several recipes that even young kids loved.
That egg hack is bloody brilliant.
Also how much sou sauce, sugar and mirin?
I just eyeball it when I do the sauce, but typically I do a 1-1-1 ratio!

I do 1/4 cup brown sugar, 3 table spoons Soy sauce and 2 table spoons mirin.👌

Sounds ono. Wish spam prices weren't getting so ridiculous though. 😅
When it comes to sauce, what brand of Mirin do you use?
Spam, eggs, and rice with a little kimchi is my favorite meal
Can someone please give me the measurements for the sauce? This looks delicious
Its basically a simple teriyaki. Just do even parts of each.
Im really particular when it comes to eggs i cant take them too runny/snotty but that looks delicious i will try that method of "boiling" the egg
Im assuming you put mayo at the end there?
Kewpie mayo
@@BillieBobGaming Thanks!

That look good. Can i now the music name
i learnt more about the egg than the spam
omg thank you! I was gonna poach my egg, I've never seen that hack before!

It's pricey, period. It's not imported in the US, and they're selling it in anti-theft containers.

I might actually try this with what I have in
may the algorithm bless this chef
Song name? It sounds super nostalgic
first i have to figure out how to open the can first. i break the handle thingy everytime lol

how much of the sauce, mirin, and brown sugar?
