He was ordered repeatedly over 20 times over several minutes to put his hands out of the window. He refused and was verbally confrontational to the officers. He only put his hands out briefly where officers were at the window. When the officers attempted to open the door. He blocked it with his arm, which is physically resisting. They didn't release the video due to the LT recording. They released the video due to the LT leaking his own. The LT wanted trial by public opinion, because he knows that people of color receive special treatment in the current atmosphere, even when police are justified. The officer still had reason to pull him over and even issue a ticket. The officer was fired due to how poorly he handled the situation and not because he pulled over the LT.
Tags must be clearly visible. Do you know how hard it is to see a tag through a dark tinted window at night? So... basically you have an officer who saw a tinted out vehicle with no visible tags, who then lead them on for 2 minutes without pulling over. This is why they came with the guns drawn. They can't see in the vehicle and they don't know what they're getting into. Then you have the "alleged" LT not complying, who threw his position in their faces to try and deter them. The officer shouldn't have pepper sprayed, but the LT didn't follow the law. He implied that he should get special treatment due to his military position. Is that how things should work? The law is there for a reason and only criminals don't follow it. But alas, if you break it, just make sure you are recording and hope that you have a dumb cop for a pay-day.

The man had his hands up, so why would an officer say he should be afraid and that he will ride the lighting. All aggressive statements that would escalate the situation. The man did not raise his voice or fight the officer. The officer clearly flew off the handle and tried to cover himself by warning him to not speak on it to protect his military career. Even the second officer knew things were getting out of hand and wanted to calm things down but the other officer did not let him.

@@1IPF i do not believe there's a court in the nation that has not held that a motorist can continue to drive to the next well lit location off of the road. it's for the safety of both motorist and cop. too many cops are struck on the side of the road during traffic stops.
and let's not even get into police impersonators, which are a thing. if you come in contact with one, pray it's just some nutjob power tripping, and not a serial killer. more than one has used blue lights and a costume to gain access to new victims. when you're lit up on the highway at night, can you tell if the car is authentic?
furthermore, the police escalated this. this was a "no tag" stop, but at the gas station, the paper tag is clearly visible. if they were paying attention to detail, as they are trained to, they would have seen this and de-escalated. instead, they jump out the car, guns drawn, like they both thought they were john q rambo.
that right there is the key mistake. had they paid attention to detail, none of this would have happened. the police are supposed to be highly trained observers, capable of delivering expert testimony at trial. the police report also shows they "misrepresented" (lied for you and me) about events in order to justify their use of force.
they also had a mile and a half to spotlight his rear, and properly see his legally placed paper tag.
i also was a trained observer, and it makes me professionally sick to think these bumbling goons share the title with me. had i made mistakes of this magnitude in the army, i'd have killed myself and my buddies; or i'd be facing war crimes charges, and i'd end up breaking goddamn rocks in a military prison for the rest of my life.
