I follow several watch guys on RUclips. What makes your channel so different and compelling is that rather than being just another guy beating his chest at how much of an expert they are, your channel is PERSONAL. I like your 1st person accounts of YOUR watch experiences and perspectives. I find your storytelling riveting and warm. It's like you're sitting right next to me at a Starbucks or something. Thanks!

I bought the omega Seamaster chronograph in 2003, since that time I am wearing it and it’s working perfectly fine. Bought it after watching the Bond movie but to be honest it’s beautiful. I have not seen such a superior quality watch with awesome design in any other watch maker brands including Rolex. It’s distinct and unique, I would say a masterpiece.

I don’t like the huge numbers on the new bezel, prefer the old style bezel. I also don’t like colored ceramics. I think the ideal Seamaster, at least in appearance, was around 2008 where it looked like the original and had the same size, but they added applied markers rather than painted and longer handset.
    Beautiful video mate

Mr. O. I have the Omega Seamaster from 1995. I bought it from Feldman watches brand new. It was 1600.00 then, but my special price was 1325.00. I’ve still have it, out of all my watches, this one gets more wrist time, than any other, and I have a few. I will Never sell it, and if something did happen to it, I’d get another right away! It grows on you, and just can’t live without this unique and special watch. It just is part of my heart in time pieces. Love your take on watches. Matt😎👍

And here's another one. My first luxury watch was the 2220.80, the slightly facelifted one with the coaxial movement as D. Craig wore it in Casino Royale. It really is the perfect start into this hobby. It is such a beauty with all the details, it wears nicely on the wrist, it is rugged and at the same time elegant and it is really unique in its overall design. There are a lot of nice watches out there but my SMP 300 will always be something special to me.

I recently acquired the 2017 model with the black bezel.I paid full price to acquire it unused. I don't care in the least that I paid full retail price. I don't like buying used and I don't care that it doesn't have the wave pattern on the dial. I think it fills two roles. It is sporty and elegant. I love it!

Yeah that’s a beauty. I was going to get one way back but ended up with the 36mm version as I didn’t feel I could pull the larger piece off. Back then 36mm felt right whereas now it seems like a kid’s starter watch. But I know what you mean regarding Omega build quality and the beautiful blue wave dial and skeletonized hands. A classic piece and nice marketing back then. Funny how I never wear this piece now but I must have worn it loads as it’s a bit bruised and battered. Looking through old photos the watch I wore the most was a Longines day date which went as a daily beater piece for about 9 years. To look at it now it’s beat up to ribbons and I wouldn’t look at such a piece twice but back then it was a loved piece and has huge nostalgia. Funny how tastes and wearing habits change over the years. And, of course, the ever rising price we pay and investment we put into our watches. It’s a beautiful form of obsession and madness.

Picked up a 2221.80 the 2007 preceramic model. The 2220.80 was the last type of this seasmaster worn in a Bond film. So mine wasn’t worn by Craig or Brosnan in a film, but it’s just as freaking beautiful. This is the best watch channel, elegant and cool 😎👍🏻

As usual, you nailed it. My 1st "luxury" watch was a Omega Seamaster 300M Chronometer 2531.80.00, the Bond watch. I grew up wanting a Rolex because it was 007's watch and for many years not knowing it was a luxury watch. By the time I could entertain a luxury watch purchase, Pierce was portraying 007 & Omega was the watch he was wearing. Immediately before buying the watch I compared the Rolex Submariner side by side with the Omega Seamaster. I ultimately chose the Seamaster because it seemed like more watch for the money.

Loved your video. Speaking of changing signature details: To me, the Seamaster 300M has always had the solid caseback with the sea monster (or hippocampus) engraved beautifully on the back. I was quite excited about the new 42mm as well, until I looked at the case back!! Yes, their new Master Chronometer movements really are something to brag about, but the open display case back is really, really getting old and boring, at least to me. Unfortunately, this was the deal breaker for me with this watch. I did have the smaller 36.25mm version of your watch, and do wish I had not sold it. I certainly agree with your statement about seeing a watch you have on someone else's wrist, be it in the movies or simply in the wild. Or even in a review. I immediately do the same thing, run an put on whatever watch it was seen that I own! Anyway, I recently got myself a FOIS (First Omega in Space), absolutely love it, and now I have that beautiful solid case back forever! Thanks again! Cheers, Carl

    •  4 года назад

carlhaluss thanks for your comment. Yes, the open case back doesn’t seem very omega in general but I personally love it on the speedmaster. I made another video with a detailed side by side of the old SMP vs the new SMP. I go through all the differences. Check it out if you like.
Thanks for watching and congrats on your FOIS!!

The Seamaster 300 bond was my first, like yourself. I still have a newer version 2017 ceramic model black. I added a adjustable clasp. Never getting rid of it. A keeper. Love it as much as my more expensive pieces. Maybe more.
I bought it to remind me of my first luxury bond watch. Keeps me grounded. Reminds me of why i started this crazy hobby in the first place. And reminds my wife of why i went crazy with this hobby. 😀
I personally like the non-wave version. The deep black lacquer of the non-wave version is more versatile in my opinion. Board room to shorts. I dont know if the new version has the same versatility. All are great though. Like saying what child you like the most.

OK. Your thoughts on Omega (too many models! Releases and "limited" things constantly) are right on (and they've been doing it for decades!) The blue dial 300M with the "open" hands is quite nice. But (for me and many others) that damned "valve" sticking out at 10:30 kills it a bit for me. I've had my 16610 for 32 years - and it's pretty much what I wear. I did have a 1990s titanium Seamaster (no valve!) that wasn't bad. The light weight made it different. But I sold it off eventually.

Terrific insight on the best watch, honestly I cant find a more comfortable piece to wear than those seamasters from the 90s early 2000s.
Love the video, the only thing I would differ is the part you mentioned as the other watches a level above, I think that Patek, Vacheron, AP, JLC, Ulysse, etc are in that group but definitely not Rolex.
I agree with you and I am convinced as well that the last gen Omegas are built as good as the crown pieces, but their lack is in the marketing department.
What band did you play for? Id like to see some watch shots with some of your band's music in the background !Cheers,

Not sure how I missed this one being I've had the 2531.80 SMP from the year 2000 and twenty years later it is still running perfectly.. The funny thing about this at one time when I was a forum junkie one of my stops was a cheap place with lots of invicta and at the time shopnbc watches and someone got ahold of one of the mods and said my Omega SMP Bond was fake because it didn't have the engraved omega globe on the case back and I needed to take my pictures down... I had a shit fit and had to prove my watch was real not the other way around, well to start my watch again was from the year 2000 and Omega didn't start engraving the globe on case backs until the year 2005 and only on models where there was room for this anti-counterfeit logo to fit on the caseback. There was no problems of it fitting on the 2531.80 SMP Bond but the fact I had to prove this pisses me off some 14 years later as I even opened the case back up to take pics of the movement which had never been opened and still had a dollop of red glue or whatever Omega put on a new watch back then to show the watch had never been opened and then after an AD service they would put a drop of the same stuff in the color blue. Once I had cleared my name and the forum refused to tell me who started this and didn't do any research and just claimed my watch was a fake, I made the mod write me a public apology on the forum and then I told them all to fuck off and quit the forum and never went back.. Moral of the story is if your going to call someone out on a fake anything you better damn well do your research and make sure your right because you just might run into someone like me that will go to all cost to prove my honesty and the fact that I wouldn't have a fake Omega bond while owning 3 Rolex subs at the time.. Anyway another post of yours that i've just stolen but wanted to let viewers know brands are always making small changes to their watches and at this time it was BIG one for Omega to start engraving the Omega globe onto the caseback to try and stop replica pieces with anti-counterfeit engraving and believe they still do this with all their solid caseback watches to this day.. Awesome watch and video & person..;)

When I bought my 2531.80, the seller claimed it was from 2000(didn't have papers anymore and was a second owner anyway, so didn't know much back then even he thought it was from 2000),and the watch was in great condition. But, it had an omega globe engraving on back case...in the end it happened to be one of the very last runs of 2531.80 from 2006-7. Later I learned that they started engraving it back in 2005. Love this watch so much, that I would get another one just to have a backup.

I bought my 2541.80 in 2000 from the Army PX for $995, seems like a crazy steal compared to the new ones. Granted the newer 300m is a quantum leap in terms of technology and refinement. But at the time compared to Rolex Sub the original 300m had a far better bracelet and was a far better deal, just like it is today.

A wonderful 'love letter' in praise of the iconic Seamaster Oisin.
This was the first 'proper' watch I ever bought; back in around '95. I then got VERY seriously bitten by the bug and boy did I kick the backside out of it. Around 2010 I sold about 80% of a by then, overly large collection-including the Seamaster.
    Sigh. What a dick!
I own a Sub, a Speedy and a number of assorted divers but for anyone busting their hump to buy a Submariner...for twice the price? Stuff that. Buy one of these I say. As you so rightly say, it is AT LEAST every bit as good. I'd even go so far as to say that it is somewhat more the connoisseur's choice. (You'll see guys wearing Subs who often don't even know the front of a watch from the back). I've now decided to buy another on the grounds of 'Christ, why did do that??!'... And that I irritates the hello out of me every time I see some dude wearing one.
A relatively new subscriber, I love the personal nature of your clips. They are a treat. Kudos my man ;)

In the end it's what we see in the watch, personally I couldn't disagree more I very much prefer the Ceramic non wave 300m. I had the choice at the AD with both the new one and the last of the non waves, I took the non wave. Maybe if they hadn't made the new version bigger in everyday and really over did the waves so much I would have made a different decision. I was very impressed with the new movement and its display back. Loved the vid and love being able to disagree.

Interesting,as was the music. When i had money i binged on Martin acoustics as i hadn't got into watches then. Now i have essential tremor which has messed up any hope of playing accurately.Perhaps i should have gone for the watches.......................

I started with Luminox, the Swiss Army, then $1,000 watch, then 2 to 3,000 and then off the races and my family thought I went crazy when they see how much I spent in my collection

I ended up getting a seamaster PO from timezone. Box and papers. Ended up being fake. Real box and hologram cards but the watch info on the cards were written in by hand. It sucks when it happens.

Absolutely spot on explanation of Omega’s problematic Rolex obsession. Over production and poor marketing.... oh, and their bracelets still suck...

What do you think about the Seamaster 300 master co-axial..the one without date ..just 3,6,9,12..there is a new gold and green dial/bezel/strap 😱

Ah man! That Rickenbacker Bass is Sick! One of my grails. I have a 64' Mosrite Ventures model bass and LOVE that thing. Handed down from grandfather. And my first luxury watch was a Seamaster 300 proffesional. What band were you in if you don't mind me asking?

Hello. I recently got a Rhodium Yacht Master but I’m looking for a more low profile watch to use on daily basis. Mainly to work on the office and go out for lunch without losing my arm. Do you think a Seamaster is a good option an can be a good companion on daily basis?

Amazing video, bravissimo! I’m so glad I stumbled across this as I’m about to purchase my first Seamaster, although I’m leaning towards the newer black dial version of the Bond watch (ref 21230416101001). Love the photo/video montage at the end, let the watches do the talking. Very enjoyable, well done.

I recently went from a Tag Aquaracer to the new Omega Seamaster. Both great watches but the Omega is on a higher level for sure. A part of me does miss wearing the Auquaracer and so now ill wear it a day or two every now and then.
