I love this guy! The way he talks about horology with such passion and enthusiasm makes it easy for beginners (like myself) to see the wonders these timepieces have to offer
Garrett Rodden / 500 lb closer to 800 or 900 US dollars I think. That is very low still to get A James Bond Seamaster. Mine was bought in the 90s Auto with wave face. It is worth many thousands now. I regret selling it when I went through a divorce. It only went up in value and liked it better than the Submariner I also had. I moved on and love Panerai now.
Just bought my first “grail” watch! Seamaster ref: 210.30.42.20.01.001. Thanks for these videos. Yours is probably my favorite watch channel on RUclips. Off topic but I’ll confess I HAVE dabbled in replica Omega and Rolex watches (for like 6 months). I’ve given them all away and I can’t express enough how much different the feeling is buying and wearing the genuine article! Thanks again for your honest reviews. Just wanted to express to anyone considering taking that “shortcut”. Don’t. Save up, keep your eye on the prize and buy a genuine watch. And the Omega Seamaster really IS the perfect first luxury watch!
When I started working in 1968, I was earning around $100 per month. Around the corner from my office was an store selling Omegas. I used my first paycheck to pay $65 for an Omega Gevene Chronostop divers watch. It had the 12 o'clock marker where the 3 o'clock usually is. It came with a corfram strap which I did not like, so I bought the mesh bracelet for $60 with my next paycheck. I wore this watch until 1992 when I replaced it with a Seamaster Polaris Multifunction to celebrate surviving a heart event. Today I have a classic Seamaster 2254 and a Speedy MOTM
congrats on surviving the heart event and the polaris. that's great. I collect vintage watches and just started getting into the Omega line not that long ago. like the watches back into the 40s and 50s.
Around 02/03' I saw Die Another Day, that moment I knew I wanted Bond's seamaster. Probably was in 2nd grade at the time but I was mesmerized by the craftsmanship and elegance of the whole thing. With my parents being Rolex and Cartier folks they knew what a fine timepiece was and promised to gift me one when I graduated college. Last year I finally received my BA degree and walked during commencement. Shook the dean's hand, while holding my degree with my Seamaster Diver 300 Coaxial 41mm on the wrist.
My first luxury watch was a Seamaster Chronograph bought in 2000. A great watch. I use it for flying now. The red hands show up very well against the blue face making it easy for my 51 year old eyes to see the elapsed time while in flight. Peace.
Hello TGV. Not sure you’ll see this but about 6 years ago I discovered your videos which got me into this wonderful hobby. A few weeks ago I bought my first luxury watch, Omega Seamaster 300m ceramic midsize 😁
20 years ago I bought my 1st quality watch , a speedmaster reduced (still love that timepiece) at the time i looked at a Seamaster but my budget could not go that far, time rolls on and i now have a modest collection that includes a Datejust and a few other maybe not so expensive but to me interesting watches. Yesterday I finally pulled the pin and ordered a 41mm Seamaster 300 , I cannot wait for it to arrive .
Absolutely agree! Seamaster SMP 300 (or Diver as they call todays equivalent) was my first luxury watch too. I fell in love with it after seeing it in Goldeneye. Still have it today, its my oldest and most scuffed up watch but I still love it and wear it on regular basis.
My first luxury watch....the Omega Seamaster Professional 300 2252.50. Love the 36mm. When I opened the box, I let out a big 'oh wowwwww'. That was a year ago, and it still impresses me every single time I wear it. Cheers to another great video TGV!! Thank you once again.
Just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your channel. I've been a one watch guy with a Seiko 5 for over ten years until I recently inherited a vintage Red Submariner. I immediately began researching the watch and the more I learned the more fascinated I became. Along the way I've kept coming back to your channel time and again and I've realized that I must have a bit of a thing for mechanical movements. it's the reason I specifically purchased a Seiko 5 nearly ten years ago(they weren't exactly easy to find in the USA back then.) You've inspired me to purchase an SKX009 and deliberately start a collection. Keep up the fantastic work. I'm glad to be a subscriber.
I use the diving bezel quite a lot, usually for cooking, not having a stopwatch available, or not using your phone to have your hands free, it just works wonderfully! A diver is the best all round watch, and the seamaster is simply a great entry piece. I love Rolex more than Omega, mostly for the in house movements, but I would not mind a seamaster 300.
I love divers for cooking too. Bracelet and the whole watch is "kitchen proof" and the bezel as said keeps cooking time. Just a bonus for divers as "good for everything" watches.

TGV - Picked up the Seamaster Diver 300M while traveling on business last week. 80% of the reason I chose the Seamaster as my first luxury watch was because of your channel and this video in particular. I absolutely love it. Thanks for your enthusiasm and keep up the great work.
Hi, my second "real" watch was the Omega Seamaster 2537.80.00 40th anniversary 007 Bond watch. I still have it, and it is still my favorite. As you mentioned, the feeling you get when first putting it on, you do not forget. It has weight to it, it feels like you're wearing something special and luxurious, and for me at least it is very comfortable on the wrist. I never plan on selling this one, and hope to add another Seamaster in black.
TGV nobody on RUclips can seamlessly imbue the character of a watch so seamlessly with the delicate examination of a watch's heritage, brand history, and importantly, aesthetic that you so adroitly do in your utterly entertaining reviews. Bravo chap; keep it up.
I Absolutly LOVE all my Omegas !!!! My first (now traded in) Omega was the Bond Golden Eye, 2541.80. So easy to find a nice example of this watch for $800 - $1,100. It was a gateway watch, as I now have 6 Omega watches!! Great Video as always.
I'm doing the same for a Grand Seiko Spring Drive Diver. The "swiss made" tag says nothing to me compared with the accuracy and technical development. People won't recognize it as a very good piece? Well, maybe that's the second bigger appeal for me, I like to look as the average grey man but at the same time enjoy secretly a wonderful accurate time keeper. For the same reason I would never buy a Rolex Submariner, (less a homage).
newhuskytwenty you are a oxy-moron.lmao 80 year old hipster claiming to be different because ' I don't fall for Swiss stuff but I like to laugh and keep to myself with my enlightenment" yet your branging on RUclips.........so confused.........

My first luxury automatic was an Omega midsize Seamaster Diver purchased in the late 90's. Several years ago I had it serviced and the watchmaker told me that it had an ETA movement. Not fully understanding what he meant, I thought maybe my Seamaster was a less desirable watch. After getting more information from this channel and elsewhere on the internet, I've learned that the ETA movement is the norm for my watch and nothing to sneer at. Now I have a renewed appreciation for my Seamaster and once again it's become my favorite watch. Thank You.
Admittedly I am watching this 'lo-fi' on my Android phone, but the drilling noise is not too intrusive - I didn't really notice it until you mentioned it. It must be distracting at your end though!
Midsize Seamaster was my first luxury watch, my wife bought it as an engagement present for me in 2001. I now also have a Rolex "Hulk" But the Omega is still worn every week and is my go to watch for holidays and sports. Had a wobble about the size being too small a few years back but now I really appreciate it (I have very small wrists).
Great video as always. I actually just picked up my first Omega Seamaster a few weeks ago. I decided to go with the quartz movement blue wave that Pierce Brosnan wears in Goldeneye instead of the chronograph he switched to for the rest of his 007 movies. Goldeneye just has such a special place in my heart I thought it appropriate to get the quartz instead, though I prefer automatic movements. Unfortunately I had to get it serviced by Omega, which is where it is now, and they are performing some repairs due to some dishonesty by the seller, but nothing that depreciates its value, in general, or to me. I fell in love with my father's (an old gold Seamaster), and I'm now in love with mine, so I could not agree more with you.
That's the sound of production! Without it no one is buying anything, let alone a Seamaster. Anyways, great job as always. I've learned just about everything I know about the world of mechanical watches from your videos and will be making my first purchase shortly. Thanks for your really well articulated, informative, and very humble delivery!
A contemporary seamaster is a great first watch. My personal favourite is the 2254.50. I would say though that if you have your heart set on a particular piece that is similar but perhaps more expensive (possibly a sub) then it really is worth saving because if you give in by buying a piece that is more affordable than what you truly want, you're really just delaying gratification.
You know the reason I (and possibly many others) like these videos is that TGV appears to have no guile. The internet is full of criticism, trolling, nastiness and negativity and it's just nice to watch someone talking about something with a smile and a positive attitude. Thank you TGV it's very much appreciated. If you're ever up in the Yorkshire dales, let me buy you a pint.
We share that in common, excellent choice my friend. Not a month goes past I do not consider re-buying it! Wear and enjoy it with pride my friend. Best regards, TGV
Love your passion, sheer exuberance when you talk about watches. Really livens up horology to another level. You toss the pretentiousness and bring a refreshing down to earth take on some of the finest timepieces. Also, this has become my favourite channel. Keep up the good work.
Please keep saying it fashion channels continue to steer people wrong most of the time to get money from advertisers. I saw one yesterday comparing a Rolex to a Daniel Wellington to a Omega and dinging the Omega because it was small on his wrist. I guess it was the only thing could say was bad.
@@bighneshupadhyaya888 I try not to dislike or comment on videos like that as the RUclips algorithms don't discriminate and treat all interactions as good... so best to ignore them altogether, I always think...
Couldn't agree more - my dad gave me his Seamaster as a present for passing my exams. I'm 17 just now but I plan on carrying on the tradition of passing down my dad's watch till I'm 70 (with a few luxury watch purchases interspersed, of course!). Keep up the good work. Regards, CMB
Pretty sure I subscribed around this videos release when I was in high school. Have since graduated university and was finally able to pick up a ceramic seamaster. Im sure the algorithm knew and recommended this video. OG urban gentry videos like this are what got me into watches to start with!
Love your channel! I'm currently saving up to get a Seamaster 300M Co Axial in blue, slowly one day I will get there! (fingers crossed) Currently wearing a Hamilton Khaki King which I adore, it's my most "expensive" in the collection so far. Keep up the great work!
I wear my Seamster Model 2531.80.00 since February 1998 and I mean every single day. Until 4 weeks ago it was the only watch I owned and it is still going strong. The perfect watch! Solid as a tank, reliable as hell and so versatile. It goes as well with a suit as with casual or sportswear. I never regreted the purchase, not a second.
How about this quartz midsize completed sale for $548? www.ebay.com/itm/Auth-OMEGA-Seamaster-Professional-300m-2562-80-Mid-size-Watch-Quartz-278856-/252809167766?hash=item3adc99c396%3Ag%3A3LEAAOSwqbZXFF7V&nma=true&si=73CwGBJVf%252FAPt4gqPXWGcpAsqcg%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Makes me think of TGV's advice about Japan as a good source of midsize watches. Both of these eBay listings are from Japan.
he told about automatic bonds if I'm correct no tho? I was searching as well but couldn't find anything lower than 800-900 in automatics model (it's more around the 1k)
I got mine brand new 2002 1250 with %15 discount. Electric blue model.... was my first real luxury watch... will never get rid of it... thanks for the great videos.
Yup, welcome to capitalism LOL! Having said that, with the SM's British Military roots, I can not help but give it a pass ;-) Thank you Rick, Best regards, TGV
I have a 1950's vintage seamaster that belonged to my dad. I love the new 2018/19 Seamaster Diver 300m, and will make that my first purchase! Love your enthusiasm!
My first was a wave auto seamaster full size bought new in the 90's, It's been through the wars worn day in day out for years, I've worn it everywhere from holidays to working on cars to nights out, and i think you hit the nail on the head. It's just so versatile and ticks so many boxes, It still runs great but looks a bit worn, I bought a planet ocean about 4 years ago and it's hardly left my wrist since. Would love a ploprof....maybe some day, great video
I don't think it's snobbery dude with regard to brand recognition.i would agree there is snobbery attached to Rolex but not Omega.Omega choice is appreciation of quality and style coupled with a long historical heritage..peroid.choose a Rolex or Cartier or Patek for show...choose an Omega if you really know.
My first luxury watch was an Omega Geneve that I nabbed for $350, with a ColaReb strap. I love Omega watches, if you play your cards right you can score killer deals on amazing pieces.
Great video! A Seamaster midsize quartz Ref 2561 circa 2004 was one of my first luxury watches. It's a fantastic piece! I didn't wear it for a while when I was in a G-Shock phase but I recently pulled it out and put a Bond Spectre NATO strap on it and it looks incredible!
getting ceramic co axial next year for my 40th. love watches got a collection of cheaper ones but always wanted a smp. just cant decide on black or blue
You can't lose, both are stunning. Which colour would compliment the collection best? I already had 2 black dial watches in the collection and nothing blue so for me it was a no brainer and went blue. Also It's about a thousand different shades of blue depending how the light hits it. It really is something special.
I would pic the blue, because of the blue being the Seamaster colour itself, but also the blue on the ceramic plays with the light. Indoors it almost looks black. The black will always be black.
Took your advice. Saved for a few years and got me a omega seamaster. Owned it for about 2 months now and have not regretted in purchasing it. Love to just look at it. Now saving for an Aqua Terra.
I'm a big fan of the Omega F300Hz watches, good examples of which can be found in the $500-1000 price range. Would love to see a review of one sometime; my DeVille F300Hz was my first "luxury" watch, and I love it! As always, great video!
Jacob Holtman so do I. Would love to see TGV do a review on them. I have 2, started with a Geneve, wearing as I type this, pretty much mint and a Seamaster with the hudden lugs and depth rating on the face.
I went through a few Hamilton's before I landed on the Omega Seamaster. My journey for finding the right watch (for me) ended after the Black Seamaster. I truly love this watch. I learned a lot about various watches from you and I truly appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Cheers!
I have a 60's seamaster that was passed to me as a gift from my dad since he doesnt wear watches. Still keeps perfect time. Love the look, and it has a rather rare 12-2-4-6-8-10 dial. Rocking it on a black nato. Love your videos!
My math teacher has it and since our first class I completely fell in love with it. Definitely going to be my graduation watch, at least for now. Lovely piece, TGV!
The only thing about buying an Omega for $500: plan on it needing a service, and Omega/Swatch group charging you 600-800 for it, at which point you might have more into it than it's worth...it may or may not be worth it to you, but factor that in.
Already a step ahead of you TGV. I picked mine up in October last year as my first luxury watch. Absolutely perfect it is. No regrets whatsoever. It was a close decision between that, the Breitling Superocean heritage or the Tudor heritage BB. Both lovely pieces but for me the brand Omega has more prestige and also the Seamaster represents great bang per buck for what you are getting.
The Seamaster DeVille was given to me by my parents for my 21st birthday. I am now 76 years old and I still wear it. Great video and thanks for the review.
Brilliant mate. My first was and still is handed down Omega Constellation. Part of service during war time by my uncle as a submarine radar operator. Still keeps great time, great brand and simply great watches!
Hi sir I'm a fan of your page , I have an question, I wanted to buy a omega watch especially this watch but I had amazing offer which is 3 month old , only three times worn omega globemaster sedna leather strap had been on sale for 3500$ from collector, so naturally I jumped into and bought it, I'm happy with my watch , but do you think it is way too much for beginning? MY REGARDS
The Urban Gentry I'm sure you get requests all time, can you give your thoughts on the speedmaster 57 reference # 331.10.42.51.01.002. If you can Thank you !!
Admittedly the Omega is superb!i hv the PO Seamaster and chose that over the original Bond watch just due to size 5 yrs ago and now i still feel that must go for the original Bond watch
The construction noise wasn't a problem at all, TGV...and my actual first luxury Swiss timepiece was indeed the '90s Omega Seamaster automatic "James Bond" watch. And yes, it is very rugged. It's got a few scratches on the rotating bezel, and the red tip of the second hand has actually faded to a pale white(?), but other than that, I've had it cleaned and it still keeps accurate time! I highly recommend this fabulous blue-wave dial timepiece...thank you for this awesome review, TGV!
Hey guys - a (very) affordable alternative to the Seamaster 300, Seiko SKA371; I'm wearing one now. And a stylish diver CAN be worn with a suit. They are calling them "dress divers".
"it's no joke, it's a rope" - The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. TVG has done SEVEN videos on affordable alternatives for some really nice (and REALLY expensive) watches. He did a vid on alternatives for the $8000+ Breitling Navitimer; one of his recommendations - the Seiko Flightmaster. Tristano wears a Flighty, and so do I. It's a terrific watch. The 371(413 on rubber) is also a terrific watch, and an affordable alternative for a $3000 Omega. And dress divers are cool... at ALL price points.
My first luxury watch was an Omega Seamaster, then I bought an IWC Mart XII. A beautiful watch, but to protect it a little bit from wearing every day, now I'm waiting for my Omega Seamaster Midsize. I think getting always bigger isn't so good for the watches. So I'm proud to wear a 36mm watches. I like your videos and I send to you good wishes from Germany.
10:42 Came only to see this mate. The best watch in the world (the 2541.80.00 used in Goldeneye) used by the best Bond in the history (Pierce Brosnan) and also the watch that started this amazing journey. Ps: Haters gonna hate.
Fosi94 I just hate fanatics . Anyone who can’t stop talking about watches , guitars , cars , etc. are fucking losers I like all those things I just mentioned but I’d rather talk about 5ft 10’’ blondes . Fuck all that talk about adamant object’s . Get a life . I like drinking and fucking beautiful woman .
I recently inherited a '73 Seamaster (36mm). Really a brilliant watch. If I would have known these were in this price range I would have bought one myself. Love your channel, great work!
TGV, Yet again, I apologize for being MIA! It has been quite a busy Spring for me! This is by far one of my favourite videos. Just like you, my first luxury watch was the Omega Seamaster 2551.80 (mid-size) that my parents gifted me on my 20th birthday in 2008. I still have it to this day, and wear it. I much prefer the 41mm 2531.80; however, the 2551.80 is special due to the sentimental value. I have owned a Seamaster 2254.50 and absolutely adored it. I had to sell it to make room for a new piece in my collection. When I sold this one, I was lucky to have made a few hundred dollars profit when I sold last July. There have been a number of 2254.50 models on the Canadian watch forum I frequent and they are now running between $1900-$2300 CAD (demand is rather thing hence the decrease in price. I think this is a shame). If I have any discretionary funds (once I buy a Speedmaster) in the future, I will definitely re-acquire the 2254.50. I think Omega has correctly made the modern Seamaster flexible in terms of style and variety without 'cheapening' this specific line of divers. If one does not have the funds to acquire the automatic Seamaster, you are not "settling" if you buy the quartz version. I have many friends who have the 2541 quartz (original "Bond" Seamaster), especially one who has has his since 1995 and it has been through literally everything! It's 22 years old and has never been serviced or polished and shows signs of moderate wear. In terms of versatility, and as you have referenced, this watch can go from your t-shirt & jeans to a tux with ease. I find this watch is recognizable, but is not "flashy" or 'in-your-face' like my GMT-Master II, for example. You can wear this watch with confidence without coming off as if you want people to mention your watch. As a personal note, I wear watches for me, and not to be recognized. I find it rather embarrassing when I am asked " how much was that?", "wow! is that a Rolex/Panerai?" (I had a PAM177 a few years ago and sold it because I found it too embarrassing to wear based on all of the questions about price, etc). The Seamster is always 'there' carrying a presence, but a respectable one. You can converse with horological lay-persons about a Seamaster without focusing on price, exclusivity, and all of those connotations surrounding "luxury" that non-watch persons may find intimidating. Anyone who asks me "I am not a watch person, however if I could buy a watch for $3000-$5000", what would you recommend?", I recommend the Omega Seamaster 100% of the time without hesitation. To be even more frank, if I was asked which watch I would have if I could only have 1, it would be the Omega Seamaster 2531.80. Another stellar video, TGV! I hope to avoid being a stranger this summer. Please follow me on instagram nathanwbarnes. Cheers! Nathan St. John's, NL Canada
Omega should be the 1st Lux watch according to me as they r affordable (relative term) and superb quality and the movement is outstanding!just pick up the watch and the mechanism starts off!!
Since I saw it in hand of James Bond, I have allways wanted to have Omega Seamaster. One time I got money back from taxes I bought one. And I absolutely love it. It started my watch collecting and the end for my love of watches is nowhere to be seen.
I want to know what exactly defines a luxury watch. In truth, anything more than a Casio might be a "Luxury watch." Luxury, money, it's all relative :)
I would pick one up for $500 in a heartbeat. But for the price you actually pay for these watches I am not at all convinced this is the best choice for a first luxury watch. To each his own, but kind of a boring choice really. There is a pitfall in being too hung up on value for money and watches that are the darlings of the watch community. You can easily be talked into watches that don't speak to you, and talk yourself out of buying the watch that you really want. But watches are emotion and pure personal preference. Not everyone loves the same things. I for one could not care less about the Bond product placement. I am always a bit skeptical when people just into watches are showing of their SKX's, and a few years later down the line showing their Seamasters. I can't know for sure, but you wonder. Is that what you really want? Or were you convinced to buy those? Best advice I ever got was to not buy a watch you have never seen in real life. Easy as that.
Really loved watching your videos on the Omega Seamaster mate. I received an Omega Seamaster Diver just like yours for my wedding present last month from my wife (who actually works for Omega here in Aus). This has opened my eyes to the world of luxury watches. I'm 1 month in with it and I'm already sourcing the internet for more Swiss made bargains. I also received a Longines LungoMare Chrono in 2005 from my folks for my 18th which I have worn everywhere and since watching your videos, appreciate it even more now! Thanks again.
I appreciate solar GPS diver watches these days. I think they are most versatile, tough and accurate watches one can get under $1000 -$2000. Appreciate the video, as always. Hats off for being such a passionate guru. Love your enthusiasm!
This video tugs at my heartstrings because the SMP is indeed my first luxury watch. Needless to say because of your videos; and very much this entire watch collecting, because of your videos and the UGWC community. Back to the SMP, I chose the 2220.80 41mm pre-ceramic Co-axial because of Daniel Craig's iteration of Bond and of course Omega. It came in a great condition with full box and papers, extra links, even the initial Omega tags. Superb price that I got it from. Couldn't agree more with the reasons why it's The Best Choice. Cheers TGV!
Seamaster "James Bond" was my first luxury watch, I bought it in 97 I lived with this timepiece the most important events in my life. Later I bought a Tag Heuer Carrera 16, and last month , my last acquisition was a Rolex Datejust 41 Blue dial. These are my best watches. Moreover I really like Seiko, and I have SKX007 diver and SNKX079 that I really love. Best regards from a spanish guy who lives in Strasbourg , Best wishes and happy and healthy new year. CIAO
Ok, let's just get one thing straight here... Omega is NOT a real luxury brand. It's a mid-high mass, an entry level to the bigger brands. That's not to say there aren't great Omega watches (my personal fave is the Planet Ocean 600M that I wear often), but lets's call a spade a spade...
+ Privet By what criteria did you reach the conclusion that "Omega is not a real luxury brand"? I have no horse in this race, but I'm seeing similar apparently arbitrary comments about other brands here.
I feel Omega is luxury. It’s a watch that goes beyond the simple function of telling the time. Which to me is what makes a watch luxury. If a mass market is willing to pay thousands of dollars more to complete the same task, for a name, for a style then that is luxury. By my definition. Here’s the actual definition: “an indulgence in something that provides pleasure, satisfaction, or ease” - Merriam Webster
My first Omega was my dad’s first Omega. In 1976 he was honored for 25 years of service to his company. They gave him his choice of three gifts, a set of golf clubs, a Pentax camera, and a personalized engraved Omega Seamaster DeVille. He had just purchased new clubs and was not interested in the camera or the watch but needed to make a choice, so he took the watch. When he passed away it became mine. Hardly ever worn I took it in for service and was please to learn it was in absolute mint condition. I alternate between it and my newer co-axial DeVille and now I’m looking at a Diver in either quartz or automatic.
Great video, TGV. I've been enjoying your channel for months and you've always given sensible, down-to-earth advice. My first luxury watch was a preowned Omega Seamaster, too! Not the diver, but a midsize Aqua Terra "Skyfall". It's a handsome watch for all occasions (except cooking, maybe) and I wear it everyday. I'd love to own a ceramic Diver or Planet Ocean one day.
Just bought my first quality watch at 26 years old. Got a new Oris Artelier Date with the metal bracelet. It’s simple, classy, can be dressed up or down. I’m absolutely in love with it. Originally $1850 (w/o tax) and got it for 30% off from an authorized dealer. I’ve been wearing it daily to my business-casual office job and will continue to do so. Looking at Omega for my next quality purchase.
Great vid! I just had to go with the Aqua Terra 38,5mm. Had it for little under a year now, and I could not be any happier. Absolutely love it! has rapidly become my only watch
I'm afraid my 1st luxury watch doesn't qualify for the price range you requested, but after 4 months I still love it and would make the same choice again. I bought the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black (black). This is their new all-ceramic diver that is rated to 600 meters. Bought it new while in Brussels on business. Set me back a little over $8,000, but I absolutely love the blend of ruggedness, cutting-edge engineering and aesthetics. It's the perfect combination for me. Love your videos, BTW. Keep them coming. Noise is not noticeable.
My morning ritual is the same, and yet I have never seen it this glamorised. Governor, you sowed the horological seeds into me. My Seiko and Citizen oriented collection is growing with occasional Tissots all bought from auctions.
My first real watch was the very iconic blue Omega Seamaster Chronometer automatic. I love it and I love the reactions I get from the guys I work with when I work on airplanes with a $5,000 watch.
My personal favorite: Omega Seamaster 120 M Automatic Chronometer. Silver dial with wave pattern. 36mm case sits on my arm perfectly. I absolutely love it and wear it everyday.
Have a 1960 Omega Seamaster that I got from my grandfather and it runs great. Complemented it with a Seamaster Aqua Terra which is an excellent all around watch to wear on a daily basis.
Thanks for a great review on my watch . Made me get it out the safe to polish and admire it all over again ! . Don't worry about any noise as your enthusiasm and content always rises above any obstacles . Once again thanks .
18 minutes is not the shortest video on youtube, but the time flies with you,
you speak a lot but you never bored me, i mean none of your videos.
Garrett Rodden I second that
“A dog and a diver watch, that’s all you really need in life.”
Truer words have never been spoken.
And one more thing: a warm gun.
wise words
Don't forget the truck!
And a Cherry 2000.
And you can measure the passage of time with both
Just bought my first “grail” watch!
1) value for money
2) great range of models for choosing
3) rich history
4) versatile
5) brand recognition
I collect vintage watches and just started getting into the Omega line not that long ago. like the watches back into the 40s and 50s.
heart attack* call it what it is bitch
Xanaxensual's father wtf is wrong wit u
Do you still own your first Omega?
@@davidsiler5505 No, I stupidly sold it a few years ago.
"A dog and a diving watch is all you need." Now that's a quote for eternity.
What an Omega for a first Luxury watch!! Love that model, enjoy it may friend.
Thank you for the kinds words, always appreciated.
Best regards,
TGV
Hi. Where can I buy it (safe) Online? Thanks
Vesper Lynd (played by Eva Green): Rolex?
James Bond: Omega.
She was soo hot in that too.
So fine.
Rolex ? Omega. Beautiful.
Yes!!
I use the diving bezel quite a lot, usually for cooking, not having a stopwatch available, or not using your phone to have your hands free, it just works wonderfully! A diver is the best all round watch, and the seamaster is simply a great entry piece. I love Rolex more than Omega, mostly for the in house movements, but I would not mind a seamaster 300.
so it is a cooking bezel at the end of the day
Omega Seamaster 2017 "Kitchen Edition"

Got my first luxury watch in April this year- my grail watch... it is a mid-size Seamaster 300M 2222.80.00 Thank you, Mr. Brosnan

I'm saving for a Seamaster. I just won't buy one on credit.
Good man! Getting into debt for watches is such a mistake.
Stay strong brother.
Thank you Fred,
Best regards,

I'm doing the same for a Grand Seiko Spring Drive Diver. The "swiss made" tag says nothing to me compared with the accuracy and technical development. People won't recognize it as a very good piece? Well, maybe that's the second bigger appeal for me, I like to look as the average grey man but at the same time enjoy secretly a wonderful accurate time keeper. For the same reason I would never buy a Rolex Submariner, (less a homage).
Any Grand Seiko is an amazing watch. No one asks if that Seiko is fake.
newhuskytwenty you are a oxy-moron.lmao 80 year old hipster claiming to be different because ' I don't fall for Swiss stuff but I like to laugh and keep to myself with my enlightenment" yet your branging on RUclips.........so confused.........

So relieved to hear, it was driving me insane!!!
Thank you Neill, I hope you are well.

There was just one moment in video when it was annoying, just don't mind it and get a great content
Oh may ga
Very good point on saving, thank you Richard,
Best regards,
TGV
Im in that position. I know if i save enough for a sub I'll end up swapping the car instead 🤣
2254.50 is the best seamaster design ever, also the thinnest and most elegant.
A 36mm seamaster was my first luxury watch and it still is!
We share that in common, excellent choice my friend. Not a month goes past I do not consider re-buying it! Wear and enjoy it with pride my friend.
Best regards,
TGV
If it was your first watch before, of course it's going to be your first watch now
Love your passion, sheer exuberance when you talk about watches.
Will do sir.
I will continue the mission!
Thank you for sharing that, it inspires me greatly and I am listening.
Best regards,
TGV
Could u please link that video, sir? So more people will be able to dislike it??? 🙈

Pretty sure I subscribed around this videos release when I was in high school. Have since graduated university and was finally able to pick up a ceramic seamaster. Im sure the algorithm knew and recommended this video. OG urban gentry videos like this are what got me into watches to start with!
carry on, The Urban Gentry! now, I'm looking to buy my first vintage omega after this video!
My SMPC 300 won't leave my collection ever. Stunning watch that everytime I put it on I don't want to take it back off!
Love your channel!
I'm currently saving up to get a Seamaster 300M Co Axial in blue, slowly one day I will get there! (fingers crossed)
Currently wearing a Hamilton Khaki King which I adore, it's my most "expensive" in the collection so far.
Please show me a bond seamaster for 500 bucks, I'm currently on eBay looking and just not seeing it
I will have to do another eBay hunting video soon! :D
Thank you,

Makes me think of TGV's advice about Japan as a good source of midsize watches. Both of these eBay listings are from Japan.
he told about automatic bonds if I'm correct no tho? I was searching as well but couldn't find anything lower than 800-900 in automatics model (it's more around the 1k)
Yes you are right. No Bond automatics that low.
The Seamaster I want, a 1960s steel without date is $500 no problem.
I got mine brand new 2002 1250 with %15 discount. Electric blue model.... was my first real luxury watch... will never get rid of it... thanks for the great videos.
Don't get me wrong I love the sea master but the whole Bond thing seems like very expensive product placement to sell watches! And indeed it did!
Yup, welcome to capitalism LOL!
Having said that, with the SM's British Military roots, I can not help but give it a pass ;-)
Thank you Rick,

I have a 1950's vintage seamaster that belonged to my dad. I love the new 2018/19 Seamaster Diver 300m, and will make that my first purchase!
Love your enthusiasm!
"A dog and a nice watch, that's what you really need in life"
- clicks thumbs up
I'm just missing a dog now that i have my Seamaster peter blake
My first was a wave auto seamaster full size bought new in the 90's, It's been through the wars worn day in day out for years, I've worn it everywhere from holidays to working on cars to nights out, and i think you hit the nail on the head. It's just so versatile and ticks so many boxes, It still runs great but looks a bit worn, I bought a planet ocean about 4 years ago and it's hardly left my wrist since. Would love a ploprof....maybe some day, great video
I don't think it's snobbery dude with regard to brand recognition.i would agree there is snobbery attached to Rolex but not Omega.Omega choice is appreciation of quality and style coupled with a long historical heritage..peroid.choose a Rolex or Cartier or Patek for show...choose an Omega if you really know.
yup
I bought one and so far I’m thrilled!! I bought the Omega Seamaster 41mm Diver 300m in stainless with blue face and bezel.
My first luxury watch was an Omega Geneve that I nabbed for $350, with a ColaReb strap. I love Omega watches, if you play your cards right you can score killer deals on amazing pieces.
I bet that combo looks absolute class!! And so true what you say about finding killer deal, thank you for sharing that.
Best regards,
TGV
It really is something special.
tungstentickler why not save a bit more and get a planet ocean
I would pic the blue, because of the blue being the Seamaster colour itself, but also the blue on the ceramic plays with the light. Indoors it almost looks black. The black will always be black.
Because they're ugly. Get the blue BTW.
I prefer the black one it is more dressy
Took your advice. Saved for a few years and got me a omega seamaster. Owned it for about 2 months now and have not regretted in purchasing it. Love to just look at it. Now saving for an Aqua Terra.
I'm a big fan of the Omega F300Hz watches, good examples of which can be found in the $500-1000 price range. Would love to see a review of one sometime; my DeVille F300Hz was my first "luxury" watch, and I love it!
As always, great video!
LOVE THOSE!!!!! Stunning and not that common, love the humming too.
Excellent choice Jacob, thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Jacob Holtman so do I.
Would love to see TGV do a review on them.
I have 2, started with a Geneve, wearing as I type this, pretty much mint and a Seamaster with the hudden lugs and depth rating on the face.
I went through a few Hamilton's before I landed on the Omega Seamaster. My journey for finding the right watch (for me) ended after the Black Seamaster. I truly love this watch. I learned a lot about various watches from you and I truly appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Cheers!
i don't see omega seamaster in amazon under 500$ the cheapest one is 1900$
Elmer Cuaton Yes I think every one of his150,000 subs went out and bought one. You were lucky to find a halfway decent one under $2000
I have a 60's seamaster that was passed to me as a gift from my dad since he doesnt wear watches. Still keeps perfect time. Love the look, and it has a rather rare 12-2-4-6-8-10 dial. Rocking it on a black nato. Love your videos!
Don't worry Tristano, I can hardly hear it! Whatever you do - Don't leave the War Room! I love that place!
Unless you get quartz
Already a step ahead of you TGV. I picked mine up in October last year as my first luxury watch. Absolutely perfect it is. No regrets whatsoever.
It was a close decision between that, the Breitling Superocean heritage or the Tudor heritage BB. Both lovely pieces but for me the brand Omega has more prestige and also the Seamaster represents great bang per buck for what you are getting.
Haha, you already know! ;-)
As for the latter part of your comment, absolutely.
Wear and enjoy it with pride Chris,

The Seamaster DeVille was given to me by my parents for my 21st birthday. I am now 76 years old and I still wear it. Great video and thanks for the review.
Has anyone mentioned the intro music? Bach's Goldberg Variations; Hannibal Lecter's favorite. That's fun.

Brilliant mate. My first was and still is handed down Omega Constellation. Part of service during war time by my uncle as a submarine radar operator. Still keeps great time, great brand and simply great watches!
Hi sir
I'm a fan of your page , I have an question, I wanted to buy a omega watch especially this watch but I had amazing offer which is 3 month old , only three times worn omega globemaster sedna leather strap had been on sale for 3500$ from collector, so naturally I jumped into and bought it, I'm happy with my watch , but do you think it is way too much for beginning?

The Urban Gentry I'm sure you get requests all time, can you give your thoughts on the speedmaster 57 reference # 331.10.42.51.01.002. If you can Thank you !!
Admittedly the Omega is superb!i hv the PO Seamaster and chose that over the original Bond watch just due to size 5 yrs ago and now i still feel that must go for the original Bond watch
Also could i request you to add a review and/or views on the DeepSea Rolex 44 mm

I'm with you here. Just have the 2531.80 aut. version
Dalamar Mago Great! I don't have it yet, but it's on my list. One of my goals :)
Fosi94 I just hate fanatics . Fuck all that talk about adamant object’s . Get a life . I like drinking and fucking beautiful woman .
I also own that, and nobody dares to hate it even being a quartz. Probably still the watch i would keep if forced to own only one.
Ray Garcia fuck off..... Sir!! 😬😳
I recently inherited a '73 Seamaster (36mm). Really a brilliant watch.
If I would have known these were in this price range I would have bought one myself.
Love your channel, great work!
i love that mug!
it's so wavy!
Haha, indeed! :D
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
You need 35 more mugs to represent all 36 of Hokusai's views of Mt. Fuji!
TGV,
Yet again, I apologize for being MIA!
Cheers!

Me: watches this video to look for a new watch
Also me: could I afford this with the €5,- I got from my mum?
Omega should be the 1st Lux watch according to me as they r affordable (relative term) and superb quality and the movement is outstanding!just pick up the watch and the mechanism starts off!!
not used but a Seamaster 300M was my 1. luxury Watch.
In truth, anything more than a Casio might be a "Luxury watch."
Luxury, money, it's all relative :)
Very good point Erik,
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV

Just got myself a 2018 professional with the blue dial for Christmas.
The drilling is bearable.
Keep up the good work!
I can't buy any watch I want because of tiny wrists feelsbadman I need sub 40 lug to lug
Is Omega really pronounced like Amiga?
Renegade Cz Yes. Not with a short ‘e’.
Tomato tomato
I appreciate solar GPS diver watches these days.
I think they are most versatile, tough and accurate watches one can get under $1000 -$2000.
Appreciate the video, as always. Hats off for being such a passionate guru. Love your enthusiasm!
Vintage Omega Seamaster is the best
This video tugs at my heartstrings because the SMP is indeed my first luxury watch. Needless to say because of your videos; and very much this entire watch collecting, because of your videos and the UGWC community. Back to the SMP, I chose the 2220.80 41mm pre-ceramic Co-axial because of Daniel Craig's iteration of Bond and of course Omega. It came in a great condition with full box and papers, extra links, even the initial Omega tags. Superb price that I got it from. Couldn't agree more with the reasons why it's The Best Choice. Cheers TGV!
Grand Seiko all the way!
Second to Seamaster. Not bezel, not luminova... you know.
Yeah I was gonna say that. Grand Seiko is underrated.
Man you allowed me to buy a semaster chronograph from 2008, and I am so pleased to wear it, I love your true speaking about watches. Keep going
