    10:18: The actual heat exchangers are not side specific. It's the plastic housing that is side specific. If you have a busted heat exchanger, you can buy either one and then just pop it out of the housing, flip it over, and use it just fine.

    Single best upgrade for my turbo six cylinder was the moseelman thermostat. that alone will reduce running oil temps by 20C. I already have 1 factory external oil cooler. I see people adding dual coolers & radiators when they could just upgrade the thermostat & change their radiator fan speed to sport so it kicks on earlier.

      what is ideal oil temps in hot weather for daily normal driving?

    • @matthewnicholas6365
      @matthewnicholas6365 4 месяца назад

      It takes ages for the oil to get up to temp for daily driving.
      It noticeably drops in sport mode too.
      Cold oil is bad for the engine, possibly as bad as hot oil

    • @DigitalDissident
      @DigitalDissident 4 месяца назад

      @@matthewnicholas6365 There is no difference in the time it takes for the oil to reach operating temperature. You're maybe thinking big a mod where you leave it open all times, I'm referring to an upgrade where the thermostat opens sooner than stock.

    Revolutionary stock cooling system after previous gen BMWs. Confirmed and tested lap after lap at the Nurburgring. E46, E92 had issues, nowadays most Japanese sport cars brand new still struggle (aside of Supra, which has B58).

    Thanks Gareth, I'm not a fan of these multiple cooling circuits and it's partly why I've been staying away from the B-series engine in general.
    On an aside didn't BMW have a recall on a run of S55 intercoolers?

    Hi, do you recommend a coolant change frequency for either the charge cooler or the engine coolant at all? Apparently BMW do no routinely change the coolant on either system in these cars during services…

    Csf parts are not an upgrade from oem. They’re 🇨🇳 made.

      EXACTLY! OEM TMIC are much better than most aftermarkets TMIC, dont change OEM TMIC if your not upgrading turbo or if your car is more than 70,000 km...

    BMW Cant figure out how to make 1 good cooling system so lets add a second. Im getting ready to unload my 18 G01 X3 which is destroying my wallet due to BWM's crap cooling systems.. The car is barely over 5 years old, less than 85k miles, garage kept and maintained to perfection ( ive owned tons of bmw's ).. Leaking Turbo return line, Oil filter housing cracked and leaking, Radiator leaking.. Ive spent close to $5000 in the last 10k miles on coolant system repairs... Now I have to worry about water pump and heater control valve next. This is just poor materials and design and unexceptable.. The sad part is I really love how this car drives and the B48 & ZF are bullet proof, its the crap attached to them that will bleed you dry. For the love of god go study a Honda and figure out the coolant system.. I know the replys are coming so please spare me about how the BMW runs a higher temp and is such a more advanced engine and thats why you face this blah bla blah.. The Honda K is known to make over 1000HP and in stock and semi modified equally bullet proof, probaly one of the best 4 cylinders ever made. Nissans VR38 bulletproof, no coolant system issues. Dont take my rant as any knock to the video, love the videos and FCP its just these issues are driving me away from the brand I love and have promoted so much among friends and family for years.

      Ironic comment. I was training for a half marathon earlier in the year (was almost sub 2 hours) but spinal stenosis/sciatica decided to enter my life in early May. You can see I'm not standing straight. Let me tell you how difficult it is to stand for long periods of time with one strong leg and the other leg radiating nerve pain the entire time. It in fact takes your breath away and I wish it on no one.
