    Three months before Mitch od’d, I saw him perform. So many hecklers. One woman would not shut up no matter what she was told. She eventually started screaming “Do Smackey the frog!”
    Mitch knelt down on stage and said to her “You can’t shout out the punchline. That spoils the joke. If you were cool, you’d say the track on the album.”
    “DO NUMBER SEVEN!”
    “I don’t remember that one”

      It seems like he always had so much more crowd control than he thought he did. I saw one of his earlier shows he had gotten recorded and people could see he was kinda nervous, but he had the vocal delivery down and jokes written so well that they had completely forgotten he was a starting comedian. The stage fright quickly faded as he gained experience, and it was like he was meant to do comedy from way early on. From the beginning, whether it was with or without drugs, he always had a uniquely genius and simple style at the same time. He wasn't like pancakes, but pretty good weed, you'd just roll with it as it went.

    I've been a stand-up comedy fan for at least 20 years. Seen them "all", every style, any kind, from the great to the worse, but Mitch, my man ... is among the Few (yeah, the few) who really got the essence of stand-up comedy beyond normal comprehension. Like anyone would find the likes of Pryor or Carlin great stuff, but as a matter of fact Mitch was better then most. He so nonchalantly calls it out in one of his bits "damn, i thought stand-up was about making up jokes ... then i found out i also have to act and shit on stage." Comedy Is Only about taking a punch line and making a solid construct arround it ... so many can but so few actually do it. Steven Wright comes to mind, Jerry Seinfeld, Rodney Dangerfield, etc. Making people laugh without even moving your eyes ... now that is some deep Shit right here. I have respect for all the people who do this, but as in any particular field, just a few dig it :)). RIP Mitch.

    • @arealhuman826
      @arealhuman826 5 лет назад

      Did you just place Carlin below Seinfeld??

    • @bombeu
      @bombeu 5 лет назад

      @@arealhuman826 doesn't work like that mate ... Carlin had a completely diferent style and system than Jerry. My first years of watching stand up (in my 20's) i was all over Carlin, Pryor, Gervais ... and all them also /actors. But once i start really reading about how this works, what is the craft behind it and why are there so many styles, i understood that someone like Jerry who didn't use any bad language, any acting on stage but he simply delivered jokes/punchlines must know more about it then most, thus i got to Mitch and thr likes of him - just telling jokes with no sirup over. Don't get me wrong, Carlin is a legend , but not for his bits but mostly for The Way he delivered. Strip them down for comparison and all you're left with is a funny old guy with perfect pitch voice for broadcast and an affinity to blow against that what is not fair -> that made him so liked, he was emphasising with his public on general problems, politics etc, and his disection of the spoken language. But Mitch, if he wouldn't od ... who knows .

    Let me talk about the differences between frogs and bears. When there's a frog around, I don't have to hang my fucking sandwiches from a branch.

      They were found at the Taco Bell across the street, apparently they were tired of waiting.

    Things I learned on Acid (taken from my journal):
    Fruit is fantastic
    My friend, Kim, is a mind-reader, probably a psychic
    Drunk people are obnoxious, but I am still able to love them
    Eating animals is an act of violence
    Somebody from somewhere are reading my thoughts right now
    You are me and I am you. I get it now!
    God doesn't exist, but aliens might...
    I like being alive
    I don't mind dying
    Let's share this fruit. Haha I like fruit (a drawing of an apple)
    I should carry a pocket knife more often (fruit juice on paper)
    Mangos are delicious
    I really, really like coffee
    Coffee is electric water ...wake up (drawing of crazy person)
    Feet are weird
    (Something else about fruit. Can't make it out)
    I love my brother

    I was on Main Street, Ventura, CA, The Goodbar. Before we went in a guy comes up and pulls a baggy full of shrooms. My lady & I split the bag. We went into the Goodbar. Live band. The lights. Dancing. Room full. Good time.
