While at the final stages of making a ring today I decided to share what goes on in my mind when lining up a collet in to a ring for soldering in.
Sometimes this stage is easy and sometimes its painfully difficult!
    ruclips.net/channel/UCc5O...
Check out the new Diamond Mounter side channel!
    Its called 'Diamond Mounter Clips'
Its compiled of short clips taken from previous videos to
highlight useful techniques and information I was teaching.
No intros, no outros just straight to the essence of what
    was useful in the video!
Please check it out and click like then subscribe!
    Calling for new patrons!
With patrons support I will be able to offer far more information than I am currently able to.
With nearly 25 years of knowledge gained in the jewellery trade working with some of the best diamond mounters in the UK I can train practitioners of jewellery making, up to and far beyond the skill level usually found in High Street jewellers workshops.
Become a classic patron and you will not only be able to view part 2 of full instructional guides but also be thanked personally on the next youtube upload! You will also have access to all future uploads 2 weeks before they go live on youtube.
Official patrons have all the benefits of a classic patron but also gain access to regular exclusive content. Behind the scenes, personal jewellery projects Im working on, I share ideas for future videos, photos and stories from throughout my career as a professional jeweller.
Also Official patrons are welcome to suggest ideas for future videos and contact me anytime if they need advice for their own jewellery making endeavors.
Classic patronage is just £5 a month and to become an Official patron costs only £10 a month making Diamond Mounter patronage by far the best value way to gain access to online jewellery making courses.
As the number of full instructional guides continues to grow the value will be even more considerable.

Chris, I hear you about " the devil is in the detail", and being "optically balanced". I have yet to set a ring, tho I do put attention into detail for earrings and wax carving a piece to be part of a ring, currently working on. Really love your work. Thanks for another great video.

I feel like jewelry making has a lot of potential. It's like labor and free market contracting all in one.

My first thought was "how did he get the silver to look like that?" XD I always struggle with making things straight, but I am getting better and I think your videos have helped with that, so... thanks!

Been doing ovals & that final 4th claw is always so troublesome... things marked out accurately end up wonky... I see why you don't like ovals. Getting that V angle same on both sides really important too. So true about working accurately to make the next stage easier.
(P.s. don't worry about your 'communication skills' - you do just fine).

I’m trying to solder something that doesn’t fit together so flush and it’s such a pain.

Caution to the newbies: a halfround flat file doesn't seem sharp but those edges leave nasty fine cuts on your fingers that you will only discover when you sanitise or stick your hands in the sonic.
And then you take 55 minutes to set it up and clamped in, the moment your torch touches.. Bam it pops out.
