"we didn't pay to go to school, we just paid to make these mistakes to learn run the business" is probably the best advice any young person could hear right now. Well done.
I'm quite impressed with your work I'll let you quite often and I wish I had the means to do video shows mentor and talk about three different people through the years other night I went through a basic for your apprenticeship to high school and all day Saturdays and then work for the family business for another five years and then ventured out into trade shop and then move down south to sunny Florida. Work with some high-end stuff, customers businesses excetera. But my true beginning started by breaking a crystal that my godfather gave my mother and I took it up to this new George store after my parents divorced and made dope the shopping center and there was a jewelry store and it took forever I had to get it out of Green Bay and this is Northern Wisconsin well I would stop in there just about every other day checking on that Potts Crystal and I got to know the guy by name and all that and I do anyway it's still took forever to get that Crystal.. then through the next couple months I'd be working late after hours after 9 and have the back door open and I dried up on my bike asking about the crystal? And he invited me and I sat on a stool and watch them what he was doing and ask them really good questions.. and my father taught me a lot when I was real young and when I was in junior high in early High School I was in the metals Woods sheet metal drafting excetera excetera always artistic. And then one day in late October I came in and once again asked about the Clock Crystal. And I asked Marty of Dave was in and he said he's in the back, hang on I'll get them for you. I know you came out with a cast on his wrist in his own firm.! We had an unusual early storm in late October, and he was taking a Sportster into the garage and slide out and nailed his wrist in his arm and broke them both. Had that pointy asked me if I wanted a job! And that's where the Story begins.
I don’t believe in school, i left school early to go do tons of trait work, gathering knowledge from great people and now im a plumber and I make a decent salary and im looking into starting my jewelry venture. The only thing that scares me is needing to buy the gold , diamonds $$$$
Dutchgamertje2011NL360codplayer I used to make plasticine ancient Greek famous statues when I was 9 years old. In smaller scale, obviously about 15-20cm. The smallest was about 10cm, a bust of the goddess Hera.
The part about having to downsize and move operations into a garage was a crucial inclusion. I can’t imagine anyone truly successful didn’t “fail” and stumble along the way. You’ve got a great head on your shoulders. Thanks for sharing your story in earnest man.
Im only 14 years old and I still have a lot of time till I can make decisions of my own. You have inspired me to think about being a jeweler myself. I'm taking design and industrial classes for freshman year. I hope to pursue this career and live the life your living right now. I love your content and I don't know why you don't have more attention.
Not going to lie, your videos are a treat to watch and one is especially true. Great to get to know more about you and your brother. Your success is WELL deserved xx
One year later, you have more than doubled your subscribers while continuing to create beautiful jewelry pieces. That’s impressive! I’m new to your channel and didn’t know of your humble beginnings. Failure is a certainty in life so it’s how you pick yourself back up. Well Done!
A lot of jewelry’s today are just in it for the money, but you doing it because you love being creative and making pieces for a reason is amazing. Thank you
I love making things. I used to spend all my evening after school picking up scrap metal in the DT workshop and making them into keychains and rings. I kinda realised as I got older that if I had the resources.. I could make whatever I wanted really.. i’ve ended up making my double bed, desk, wardrobe and a couple of rings (non out of precious metals, I dont trust myself yet). Would love to make jewellery one day because being at Uni is a ball ache.
Start with silver, and get yourself a teacher. Silver's not too expensive, and if you really can't afford it, copper is a decent alternative, but you're still gonna want to use silver solder. If you can't afford courses (not per se full-time, even just one evening a week works too), watch a lot of youtube and other stuff. Consume as much stuff as you can, there's so much online. Once you get better, get more specific. Learn what you like, learn what you're good at, and just keep improving. And last but perhaps the best tip: If you feel like you're getting good at something or made a really great piece, take it to a jeweler (not just a shop, but one with a workshop in house) and ask them to criticize your piece. It's not nice for your ego but it's good for your learning.
no..it really doesn't, he himself said that he got lucky. How many people are out there that stayed true to themselfes and never achieved something great? Many. You just don't hear about them like you hear about these stories of success.
This is a prime example of someone knowing what they wanna do and very young age and how so blessed they are knowing this! You have been blessed with the gift and that’s what makes you a great jeweler! Yes you studied hard and you learned your craft but you have a natural talent and that’s what’s so wonderful about your gift! At 65 years old I have seen many of people like you that have a gift and they have made a great living in all types of service. However I think it’s a gift plus hard work both combined. Congratulations to you and your beautiful gift!
I would love a diamond setting class. I am self taught for a few years and mostly work from a 3d printer and I'm running into issues with stones (2mm falling out. I am using a hart but to under cut the tiny prongs. Will I still need a prong pusher as well? Thanks
When I saw that yellow diamond, I near fell off the chair. And that ring that collapses is brilliant! Oh my nerves, I hope I win the lottery! You are the best!
Hallo, Bobby at my 30 at the moment i decides to chase my dream this was something what i wanted for years. seeing you making things what i had for many years in my head made me starting to experimenting with jewelry making since a month and i found out i am quiet good at it. at the moment i make rings and set stones, want to experiment with 3d printing and casting of pendants! will start in 2021 my own business it will be a online business.. i have a healthcare/elderlycare company at the side where i earn my daily spent.. so its like a risk free journey, i want to become a master like you one day! i really appreciate your craftsmanship! Bobby bruv, I could totally tell you were exactly how you claim to be. It translates very well in your work and your pieces. Good to know my assumptions were as well correctly made. I enjoy your channel and hope to see new creations coming soon.
Oh dude, just wait! I hope you like my concept of the gas mask. It's not the same silver one as on the website, the chain is 18k white and the mask is 18k rose. I asked if Bobby could take full creative control so I'm just as excited to see the video as you are! 🤫 It was crazy to see my cad design in this video! Out of all the jewelers I've looked into Bobby is more my style.
Hats off to your perseverance and your hard work. The support from your brother and loved ones is of paramount importance to succeed, and now everything goes smoothly. Well done and thank you for telling us your story. 💍🔨
Very inspirational and encouraging thank you so much for sharing your story and your knowledge. And thank you for being real about the difficulties. It’s wonderful to see the hard work, dedication and loving, creative energy you are contributing to the industry. 👑☺️
This is great! I’m going to share with some of my high school students who are going to enter college and study metal arts and jewelry. This is just the kind of information they need to hear. Thanks Bobby!
Loved hearing about your journey. I began in seed beads, then wire. 20 years later I am just learning the torch and wax. I love seeing what you create and can not wait to see what you have for us next.
Aaand.. the question of the day is .. “Haw did you come a jeweller” 0:06 PS: I was really dyslexic too. I just like joking, everybody including myself is fair game. And the story of working in a place and then buying the place is really cool 😎!!
So I recently started mulling over the idea of becoming a jeweler. I'm 40 and really feel like it's a "time is ticking" decision for me. Kind of like a now or never type of deal. I am what most people would call a Jack of all trades, but I'm never more at home than when I'm designing. I absolutely live in the zone when creating for others. This has inspired me and truthfully intimidated me a bit. Dude your ring was "Get the F out of here" cool. Absolutely stunning. That inspires, but then I look at how much time may still be on my clock and the commitment needed to become good to great at the profession is the intimidating part of it to me. How much time do I have left to dedicate myself to something foreign and off of my beaten paths? lol. I'm going to binge more of your videos and see if it really puts some coals on this smolder I have going here. You are inspiring.
Thanks for your story! I'm an apprentice now after many years of jewellery retail. My boss took the plunge and gave me an apprenticeship after I made him a fimo mock up which we cast into a piece for a client! I guess plasticine really is an amazing product that changes lives! 🤣
I’m really really interested in reselling and creating peace’s I’m 18 now so I’m probably going to start this thanks for the amazing video and advice thank you so much
Good quality tools are so expensive. So if it's Meant to be it's meant to be. My old boss pointed me in the direction of brand new tools that were never used. The person that had them took the price from 1970 and ask for a fraction of that in 2000. I just about fell over. In God's hands
Keep a wide berth on path with obsidion grit files, busy in focus; ever sharpening your keen detail to learn. i hear you brother. it takes yearsssss to become a Master jeweler. lots of hard work/re-makes/patience/and frustration till you finally nail it. love your videos.
Not going to lie I bought a 10 dollar course after I seen your nike lace tab design , I’ve made my 1st 18kt (4x 0.05ct) ring.... I guess all you really learned was to edit on the software but every real business man knows “if you don’t know how to do it you find some one”
Dave Ramsey calls the financial mistakes a person makes “stupid tax.” He’s always like “don’t be ashamed of stupid tax because it’s the price of your education.”
Much respect! This is really cool to see and you're creative with your motion pieces! I'm considering getting into metalsmith because of the artistry!🎉 Thank you for sharing ☺️
I wish I could become a jeweler but I don't even have the money to learn it😅 I would love to become one for a few reasons. 1: I just LOVE jewellery!! Especially rings. 2: I love to look at beautiful shiny stones... my 2 favorites are diamond and ruby. And nr 3: I'm all for perfection!! If I buy or make something it has to be perfect. If not I don't want it or make it perfect myself. But it's just a dream and will never become reality. To learn it you gotta pay a lot of money and I don't have that😅 Don't even have enough money to eat every day😅
Truly inspiring!! I love your esthetic. I'm hoping to do the same but it's very hard to become a bespoke jeweler😊Keep showing us your beautiful work!!!!
Hey, bud maybe someone can help I started an online jewelry store and I have been looking everywhere for gold chain manufacturers and I can't find anyone who is actually anywhere near wholesale prices how does one find a decent supplier?
I have a hard time believing that you, as a college aged individual, 'saved up' for 5 years enough to buy what must be 100k worth of equipment and space. Lmao what is that. Being a jewelers apprentice sounds like a gig that would set one up for life xD
😉👍 i think you are spot on .... ITS NOT the monny or what ever ..... ITS because I like creating things with my own 2 hands and all these ideas that come to me they are just bubling to come out ...
I have dyscalcula which is like mathematical dyslexia. Did having dyslexia make it hard to go to college and to get apprenticeships? In the U.S. colleges and employers are very fussy they want everyone to be really good at everything even if they never use the skills they learn on the job.
Dude you just rambled and said nothing. Like seriously. Why will you list a video on how to get into jewelry business and say what everybody knows. Afraid ur gonna end up teaching the competition
What a humble and touching story, it takes a lot of courage to share with ppl your lows and loses, but it shows the true character of a person. U got a lot to be proud and happy for brother!, Cheers!
Hi, have a new costume jewelry business and would like to find a manufacturer to produce my designs. what are the steps neccessary for mass production with a manufacturer? Do you need a cad or can you have a drawing? If so, what are the details i need to prepare to provide the manufacturer to start production? Thank you for your time.
Bobby, you guys had a videos about a year ago with your top tips for business, I can't find it anymore, is if still up? Really helped inspire in my business and would really like to see it again.
Hey need some advice bought a 14k pendant but it turns out it a 9k gold pendant there just put 14k hallmarks on it is tht alegal to do don't no much adout jewellery laws thanks
That’s what many people don’t understand what to become a jeweler it takes time and effort to get to that level some people think what just look videos on RUclips or asking people how to do it in Facebook they going to learn to become a jeweler, only a few born with the talent to be a jeweler for someone’s it’s a lot more easier because with born on the family trade and it’s in our blood and those skills come naturally, nice to see people like you on this world of the jewelry industry, good luck .
thanks for answering my other questions. they help me out a ton. I have to wear glasses so its hard going back and forth from the micro to having to put my glasses on to grab something and then take them off and back to the micro. So I was thinking i would put a cam on to one eye of it and have a screen I can look at with my glasses on to to my setting. can you help me out and tell where to buy and what one would be best for something like this. thanks I ton man!!!!
Hello Bobby I am a jeweler also or not now when I was a young guy I did same thing you did but I never got so quite good like you all true what you said about it is all about love today I am an aircraft mechanic but I still have my shop at home and I have to say best spot in my house maybe I will #you some Of my pieces for you to check it out love keep up beutifull work you got very original
I have a question man I buy gold and silver bullion and stack it for savings purposes is a jewelry shop a good place to sell if I needed cash on the spot not planing on selling any time soon but just wanted to know if a jewelry shop buys gold and silver like that
I know it’s a bit late but where did you get the money from to buy the precious metals, I’ve been making rings for a while now but I have never had the money to get any metal for rings worth selling
"we didn't pay to go to school, we just paid to make these mistakes to learn run the business" is probably the best advice any young person could hear right now. Well done.
Okay doing it.

Looks like Russian President because the look is straight, confident like that of VVP.

What are you studying at uni, you should leave and get an apprenticeship if you really don’t like uni. Much cheaper and you’d be earning immediately
This is how Bill Gates started...

Very inspiring! Just may I know if you can give some insights on is brick and mortar store can promote your business?
Man...i wanna become a jeweler. Can you teach me? Can i find you on instagramm?
Hey, bud maybe someone can help I started an online jewelry store and I have been looking everywhere for gold chain manufacturers and I can't find anyone who is actually anywhere near wholesale prices how does one find a decent supplier?
Thank you for sharing that. It was great to learn about your journey.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have a hard time believing that you, as a college aged individual, 'saved up' for 5 years enough to buy what must be 100k worth of equipment and space. Lmao what is that. Being a jewelers apprentice sounds like a gig that would set one up for life xD
Just so inspiring I had to subscribe. Fantastic. That's purpose in motion. Love it.
😉👍 i think you are spot on .... ITS NOT the monny or what ever ..... ITS because I like creating things with my own 2 hands and all these ideas that come to me they are just bubling to come out ...
What blew me away is the skill! & attention to detail!.
i wishyou made longer videos lol... i just cant get enough!!!
I have dyscalcula which
is like mathematical
dyslexia. Did having
dyslexia make it hard
to go to college and
to get apprenticeships?
In the U.S. colleges and
employers are very fussy
they want everyone to be
really good at everything
even if they never use the
skills they learn on the job.
Google million pound jewellers to see how far these guys really have come
What’s the story Bobby! About to do pre apprentice course. Do I still have to do 6 years before opening a company?
Dude you just rambled and said nothing. Like seriously. Why will you list a video on how to get into jewelry business and say what everybody knows. Afraid ur gonna end up teaching the competition
I wanted to start just crafting bag clasps etc. Your videos are a great. Helped me understand the tools and just love the designs.
This man deserves more subs
👇🙏
You can't learn humility in one year...
I WISH I COULD SEE YOUR JEWELRY STORE
Do you think someone with a machinist background would have an advantage as a novice jeweler? I've also been studying minerals for several years.
Love your work craftsmanship an attention to detail keep the vids coming
That motion ring is so fucking amazing 😍👏👏 I wish I had your skills, amazing work my friend!
Bespoke style is your right way right !!
But. how to challenge. / I respect you.
I am from Thailand
What academy did you go through? The only schooling I know of is GIA
When you have a bit of similarities and now have to take the idea of this becoming a hobby much more serious. Thank you
What you explained is pretty much where I'm at now. Thanks!

You talking about being a jeweler is likened to me describing drummers.
thanks for answering my other questions. they help me out a ton.

Hi Bobby
I will like to learn how to repair jewels
Is it any course available?
Thank you
I know it’s a bit late but where did you get the money from to buy the precious metals, I’ve been making rings for a while now but I have never had the money to get any metal for rings worth selling
