- Black and Blue was the band's first studio album released with Ronnie Wood as the replacement for Mick Taylor. Wood had played 12-string acoustic guitar on the track "It's Only Rock 'n Roll (But I Like It)" of the 1974 Rolling Stones album It's Only Rock 'n' Roll and appears on half of the Black and Blue album tracks (mostly backing vocals) with Wayne Perkins playing guitar on the remaining titles. Keith Richards would later comment "Rehearsing guitar players, that's what that one was about

so great... Wayne Perkins really brings so much feel to this
1 of The Stones most melancholic tracks - classic...from summer of '76!
I felt like crying all day, despite the foolishness of it, I am letting the tears bleed out right now, so fine feels wonderful actually, good medicine this 'foolishness'
I'm the actual person who found this track,as well as 2 others,"I Write a Letter"(Keith ),and "Act Together"(Ronnie Wood's Now Look LP on 2200' of 4 Track 1/4" tape in Paramus,NJ around 1989 for $15.00 US! I first released this as Static in the Atticon Midnight Beat 084 in 1994,out of Revolver Records,NYC.
I 💛Sir Mike's voice always, yet ....
the instrumentals here🐝 outta this world!
Beautiful version. 💙
cuando yo era niño mi papa escuchaba este disco ahora mi papa ha muerto prro me drjo un gran legado el gusto por la musica del black and blue
ooooo! NICE to hear a different version, especially with even more prominent, isolated instruments! The Rolling Stones
still tearjerker no 1
and still so cool and allright
No one love the blues like they do.
Beautiful.
That sounds like Nicky Hopkins on piano.
He was great.
I've been playing guitar for close to 30 years and I laugh when people say Keith's not a good guitarist. The feeling of the guitar in this song is something that comes from the soul and can't be taught. Absolutely amazing. Thank you for the post.
Wayne Perkins played lead on this
Wayne Perkins played lead guitar on this version but was taken out on released version. Same Wayne Perkins that played lead on Hand Of Fate.
This is excellent!!!
ze komen op pinkpop, hoop dat ze dit gaan spelen! geweldig nummer toch.
Two extra tracks recorded in the Rotterdam sessions were later released on 1981's Tattoo You-"Slave" and "Worried About You".
The Stones died why Wyman left the band. The unsung great bass player of all time.
oh please, give us a break! RIP Phil
9 ball inna side pocket.....BAM...!!! My "fave" bar song inna KCMO at Dave's Stagecoach....WOW...!!!
OH FUCK YAHHHH!
Ron Wood DID NOT play lead guitar on Black and Blue!! That was Wayne Perkins!!
Was hanging out with Wayne on his back porch last week and shooting the breeze so---..
Don't forget Harvey Mandel.
It's on the bootleg album 'Static In The Attic'.
I gotta woman....we make love so fine....!!! yup!
This is a much better version with Wayne Perkins on lead guitar. He also played on Hand Of Fate.
