Thanks J! I'm glad you enjoyed this. This was the theme to her 2nd movie with Ryan O'Neal. The 1979 rom-com had a boxing storyline (tagline: "A Glove Story"), thus the title of the movie and song. BTW, if I recall correctly, it was Bianca Jagger on the horse!

Barbra's first little "foray" into disco was 4 years before this, a 1975 cover of Shake Me, Wake Me, on her delicious album of mostly ballads, called Lazy Afternoon. Check that whole album out!

Hey. Loving your journey with Barbra. You may want to check out her “disco” version of “Shake me, Wake me”(originally recorded by the Four Tops”

MJ adored Babs' voice and always wanted to work with her. His favorite song of hers was 'He Touched Me' (no sick jokes please). There was constant chatter around this time and into the 80's that their teams were working on coming up with a song they could record together. But alas it never happened.😭 So my 2 favorite recording artists never worked together.
'The Main Event' is my favorite dance song by Barbra. I've danced to it A LOT. 😍🕺

FYI. MJ wrote “I just can’t stop loving you” with hopes of Barbra doing the duet with him.
Unfortunately, B felt that she was too much older than MJ to make it realistic
I agree that it would have been a great duet

@@r-yf5up Yes. And Whitney was asked as well after Babs passed on it. It's unfortunate that neither ended up dueting on it, a song I personally love. Seidah Garrett's voice is pleasant and all, but not the powerhouse of those two.
At least we have MJ and fellow legend Diana Ross together on 'Ease on Down the Road.' Plus Mike - and Barry Gibb - doing uncredited vocals on Diana's 1985 song 'Eaten Alive,' written by the 2 gents along with Gibb brother Maurice. (Okay, I'll admit I'm shamelessly touting that song all these years later for no other reason than I always thought it should be a huge hit, and it wasn't. 😥)

I agree with you (thanks for the information about He Touched Me, I will be checking that out very soon). You Touched on my opinion about Just Can't Stop Loving You. I love Siedah but I would've liked the contrast in vocals between Michael & a Barbra or Whitney.

@@J.Fro90 Great, I look forward to it. (Some fans prefer one or more of the live versions available, but it could be strongly argued that nothing beats the original 1965 studio version. Hint hint. 😜)

Speaking of knowing her for her ballads, she actually did a ballad version of this song. It's completely different and so beautifully executed...

What you reacted to is a short radio version of the song. The original version is 11 minutes long. Like No more tears, nothing like the original ! Give it a try in your spare time. There's also a ballad version of the song that is great !

You should have tried the live version during her 2000 concert singing this song live , and watching her was incredible she’s in her 60’s that time but gosh it was better than this pleaseee watch it and make a reaction. Kill me if it’s not great. 😂❤
