An absolute classic full of melody and emotion. Such an underrated album, with 3 hit singles "Finger On The Trigger", this tune & "State of Independence"
Unfortunately Geffen Records was not a great sign for Donna (or any other established artist). They all had signed because of his previous label, which he sold to Electra Records. So Neil & Joni who were with him previous signed with him, Elton and Donna were his first big signs...all left the label unhappy. The were expecting to be support and to flourish, at the label, not is not what they found. Donna's relationship with Moroder/Belotte/Faltyermeyer was dissolved by Geffen and she was basically force into this project with Quincy Jones. So right here they have a decent track, a video was shot the same day they shot the video for the first single Love Is In Control. No other promotion or promotional efforts were made. This was the executive teams attitude, they didn't feel established artist needed promotion. Not very smart attitude with the changing of the music scene.
This was Donna’s label Geffen Records attempt to break Donna into a more R&B ballad genre as the follow up to Love Is In Control. While a great song with excellent vocals, the Quincy Jones production seemed to be a bit thin to me on this song. As mentioned in another comment, it did break the top 40 peaking at #33 so was a minor hit.
In another lifetime a beautiful sultry lady used to put this on the turntable and dance for me.Time blew by and at least I have the memory
This is the only other song from her album Donna Summer that broke the top 40 peaking at 37 if I'm not mistaken great choice kudos 🎉❤

The song you mentioned, Finger On The Trigger, is actually titled Love Is In Control. It is one of my favorite songs by the late, great Donna Summer😊.
Donna Summer with Brooklyn Dreams/Heaven Knows😮😊!
This CD was great

There is a high quality music video to this song , u missed out .. 😊
No he didn't....not good video. Geffen Records sucked with vidoes and promotion of established artist.
