    Barbra has only made 😮about a dozen videos. As a megafan, I can honestly say that most of them were not terribly imaginative. However! The videos for Emotion and Left In The Dark (from 1984's Emotion) and Somewhere from 1985's The Broadway Album, are 3 wonderful efforts!

  • @BrettTwinSavage
    @BrettTwinSavage 7 месяцев назад +7

    Her video "Emotion" is a mini-dramedy with Roger Daltry of The Who as her husband and a cameo by Baryschnikov. The Pointer Sisters sing back-up. It was her second video I believe. "Left In The Dark" was her first. Both are from her 1984 release "Emotion".

    Oh wow, haven't seen this video in a minute, and almost forgot about it. Barbra didn't make many music videos, but did have a couple of productions in the 80s that were really good, and I think you will totally enjoy them..."Left In The Dark" and "Emotion". You'll see some other famous faces in them too. Thanks for a great reaction, JFro.😊

      How sad that you failed to mention her iconic "Somewhere" video.

    • @donnamentrasti2695
      @donnamentrasti2695 7 месяцев назад +1

      @robertsterner2145 Yes, that's a great one too, and there are several others as well of her singing in a video (my fave being "If I Loved You), but the other two I specifically mentioned are more like the MTV music videos where a song is recreated into a mini-movie. "Somewhere" isn't that type.

    Love your perspective that every artist brings their own take on whatever the song. Getting the fans of X to like Y's version is like religion & politics. Especially when it comes to our favorite divas!

    • @J.Fro90
      @J.Fro90  7 месяцев назад +3

      Exactly. I look at it like Aretha & Dionne's "I Say A Little Prayer", I love both versions, both were hits, & both done uniquely different & good & that should be noted beyond "which is better/who did it better". I think that comes from me being use to alot of my favorite artists covering each other's songs lol

      @@J.Fro90 Music is art. What I'm drawn to isn't exactly the same as anybody else. If we're going to compare to discuss the differences, or to analyze for whatever reason, that's cool. The old "compare and contrast" assignment. But to do it so somebody can say what's better and discount something different that brings joy to someone else is without merit. Further, when it's done on social media some folks think it's a great time to tell the other guy what an idiot they are for liking what they like. Then it's not only without merit, it's small.

      Runs? Is a good description of Mariah Carey as her singing is a lot like verbal diarrhea.
