Everything about this song and this performance is pure genius. She just feels every note. She’s such a good actress and her voice is ridiculous. This is a such a great song choice for her. It’s just stands out as one of her better songs that showcases everything amazing about her.
No one can vocally convey the combination of sadness and anger like Barbra, and this is a prime example of her mastery.
Everytime I hear this song, that last part always gets me. So much emotion from the greatest female singer of all time.
I really love this song because streisand is one of my favorite ĥ
This came out 1973 thank you very much
Love, love, love this song!!! Her voice just soars!
In just this one song alone, she is simply the greatest singer who ever lived.
LOVE your reactions, hits me the same way!!
Wow great song - seems she can do whatever she wants with that voice.
Regardless of how it was put together, it is one of her best albums. That was a great song choice that you made!
I have to agree I think that’s one of her best albums if not best. Not a bad song on it. 1:04
Thanks for the song.. beautiful and her voice and performance grand.. Nice reaction.
just plain glorious, nuff said.
Yes.. 1973-4. I've loved Barbra all my life, since the 1960s to now. I like your reactions channel. Keep doing Streisand. You will discover her versatility and beautiful artistry.
Barbra Streisand is simply the best 💝
The best of the best. Thank you. 👍🎄
You were right, 1973 was the year I had this album in my collection and I forgot she recorded this song. I loved it.
OMG!!! I love this song and hardly anyone does a reaction to it!
I love everything about her. Listening
to this album is so…beautiful! Some of the song’s give me chills. ❤💜
She’s matchless. Period.
Have a look at Barbra performing 'Lover Come Back to Me' on her TV special in 1964 - I think?).
Great song from a great album Streisand knows how to sing she’s simply the greatest singer ever
Just perfection!
Brilliant deduction, and guessing because the way we were was 1973
This song was actually recorded in 1970, to be used in Barbra’s Film, The Owl and the Pussycat! Since it wasn’t used in the Film, it was added to The Way We Were Album, along with a few more songs , that were recorded that year!
thanks for this, everyone alway does her ' greatest hits' so it's nice to hear some of her other stuff.
I appreciate that, that's my goal as a individual when it comes to reacting, going beyond the hits, I want the underrated
Agreed!
Columbia Records had to scramble to put together an album for Barbra to capitalize on "The Way We Were" 's success as a single and a movie. They took songs out the vault, from a TV special, and also had Barbra record a couple of new tracks to fill out the program. This one was from 1970 and was originally meant for her film "The Owl and the Pussycat". The producer of the movie "The Way We Were", Ray Stark, later blocked her from calling the album "The Way We Were" because of the competing soundtrack album, so Columbia began pressing the record with the amusing title of "Barbra Streisand Sings The Way We Were and All in Love Is Fair". Luckily, it went to #1 and everyone was happy.
I bee-leeve Docktah IQ four songs of the 10 were new recordings (TWWW, "All in Love is Fair", "Being at War with Each Other", and "Something So Right".) "Summer Me, Winter Me" was also intended for "The Owl and the Pussycat." (Wouldn't that have been bizarre!?). Which one was for a TV special?
@@BrettTwinSavage "My Buddy/How About Me" is from "Belle of 14rh Street" (one of the few good numbers from "Belle of 14th Street"!). I'm not sure about "Summer Me"--Wikipedia lumps them together as dropped songs from "Pussycat", but I believe "Summer Me" was possibly meant for another project and was then used as the "Best Thing" 45 B-side.
@@jons.105 "The Singer" maybe.
@@jons.105 Don't go spreadin' it around, but I've never seen "Belle" in its entirety, only bits and pieces.
@@BrettTwinSavage My thoughts exactly! "Pieces of Dreams": is from a good movie with Robert Forster and Lauren Hutton (he's a priest in love), but Barbra's version is not heard in the film.
Recorded and released as a single in 1970 and released on The Way We Were album in early 1974.
that performance and so many others proves Barbra is the best there ever was -Is-and ever will be. No match-no way - not ever fullstop( I don’t want to hear Celine, Whitney, Diana, Adele, Gaga, Bette and for godsakes not Cher!)
Yes, it’s lost in the fogs of time, but I remember a Rolling Stone review that mentioned her ability to “lord it over” her orchestra. Funny way to put it.
I've always been lovin' that bass, too! This album has a complicated history, but I'll let someone else cover that while I lead with the basics! 😆 The album was released in January of 1974 and would go to #1 that March.
The studio album was released January 1974.
1974
Broadway wishes....
This was always the bomb breakup song for me. 1:04
Lazy afternoon album .
How does Streisand manage to not hyperventilate?
It enrages me when RUclipsrs ruin the flows and narratives of songs and movies by pausing to comment. Just listen to the entire song and then comment. You'll get more out of it.
My favorite song from this amazing album.
