- Ok, so here is my fourth ever reaction to ANY Barbra Streisand - and I'm reacting to her singing 'Evergreen' from 'A Star is Born' this was a Patreon request from my brother Rene'!
Being new to the world of Barbra, I am literally unaware of the majority of her work - so this is another one, that completely blew me away - the control... WOW!!! Loved it!! 🤌🏾❤️✨

That was from the movie and it was 100% live. Barbra almost never wrote words or music to her own songs but she wrote the music to that song and won Grammys and an Oscar because of it
this song took my breath away when I first heard it
she is astonishing and stunning and I absolutely could not take my eyes off of her for that full video, and still can't.

There's THIS, and then there's her closing number at the end of the movie that blows the roof off. "One More look at You/Watch Closely Now" is as this -- done Live in one take. She's extraordinary.

It is live, and Barbra insisted it be for authenticity. She's flawless 😍
She was the first woman ever, to win an oscar as a song composer with this song...unrelated , but she supplied her own clothes for this movie, and the movies credits famously stated, "Miss Streisands clothes from...her closet"
If there is someone better than the best, Barbra is it!

She has put out over 60 albums and has had a #1 album every decade for 6 decades. And by the way - she has had no formal vocal training. She’s a wonder!

I've just finished reading Barbra's biography. That scene was filmed live to get the emotion between them and because Barbra says she's rubbish at lip syncing. I love that song. Thank you for reacting to it. Love your channel, your Whitney content was how I found you ❤. You're right I think, Barbra doesn't get enough credit for her beautiful vocals and interpretation.

The song in the movie is live. Every song in Barbra’s “A Star Is Born” is recorded live. Barbra’s an incredible always in the moment actress and singer. ❤
Love this song and them as a couple. They had so much chemistry because in real life they dated, and you could see it, and you could feel how authentic their attraction was to one another. She is one amazing iconic singer, who never needed auto tune or any kind of help with her vocals she was natural. It is hard to find that kind of talent with todays female artists.

Barbra has the best voice that ever has been, ever will be- hands down. She is going on tour shortly, at 82- she has lost a little of the bass in her voice, now, but I would give anything to hear her, even now. She knows her worth, so we common folk will never be able to afford tickets, but man- if you get the chance, grab one.
Watch her movies, I'm begging you! This one, Hello, Dolly, Yentil, The Mirror has Two Faces....just go! I grew up listening to her music be because mom loved her, and we watched several of her films. She's just a stunning woman, an amazing vocalist, and a doggone good actress, really! I loved your ear to eat smile when the song finished. I had the same smile plastered across my face, too!
you are so so so lucky to be able to hear Barbra's songs for the 1st time... i envy you ;) Barbra is incredible in all style of music... see her last song on Star is born "with one more look at /are you watching me now"..; live as well and check celine's version when she performed live after René passing... Barbra is for all the top female singers the ultimate reference. Check her duet with the stunning Donna Summer in "no more tear (enough is enough)" and young barbra live with "c'est si bon" or her incredible come back with "somewhere" from west side story... good so much for you to discover... love also her duet with burt bacharach live with a piano "close to you".... i could go one for ever. I personnally fell in love with barbra with Yentl.... Michel Legrand wrote her a song that fit her voice like a glove and capture the all essnce of the movie... once again you are so lucky if you take the journey of going through Barbra archievement .. ;) all the best. Yep , singing live. As someone who never sings a song 'the same way twice', Barbra has always said that she absolutely HATES lip syncing. I think 'A Star is Born' did not end up being one the most favorite films that she did, but she did love she was able to sing live in it and was able to direct the musical sequences. Her costar, Kris Kristofferson, who was in this clip with her said in an interview that "the good-old-boy male executives at the studio were unhappy that this 'uppity female' was going to be directing the musical sequences." Yeah, that 'uppity female' had 15 years previously stopped the show and received a standing ovation after she sang her first solo during her Broadway debut, and shortly afterward she won two grammys with her debut album: Album of the Year and Best Female Vocal Performance. She won an Emmy and a Peabody award for her first television special, and a Best Actress Oscar for her debut film. Actors routinely get praised for 'expanding' into directing, Barbra was called 'controlling' and 'full of herself' when she dared to do it. Ok, I'll get off of my soap box, LOL! Streisand may be egotistical and a perfectionist, but she is also still an amazingly talented woman in her 80's, who has crafted an amazing and varied career instead of crashing and burning like so many other 'over-night sensantions' end up doing. She is one of a kind and I am so grateful to have had the chance to enjoy her singing and acting for over 50 years now.

This scene is from the movie. The man is Kris Kristopherson who was the male lead in the movie and a singer. You’re right tho…Barbra doesn’t get enough credit for her vocals!

The movie, "A Stat Is Born" has been made and remade 4 times. The first in 1937. The next in 1957 starring Judy Garland. Then in the 1970's is this version with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson ( A country artist). This version had several songs come from it. The most current version is the 2018 Lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper version. For me, the Judy Garland version and the Barbra Streisand version are the bestones. Both tell the same story, but related to the time they were msde.
Barbra was singing live. She's not good at lip syncing. And, she's a perfectionist.

This is the third version of the story (Gaga's is the fourth). The first was a straight dramatic version with Janet Gaynor as an aspiring actress discovered by movie star Fredric March's Norman Maine. The second, and first musicalized one, served as a comeback vehicle for Judy Garland, and provided her with one of her signature songs-The Man That Got Away. In my opinion is the best realized take on the story despite the film being severely cut at one point and some of the footage being lost, though a restoration has been performed on the film. I don't care much for the Babs version, she is however at the peak of her vocal powers and the film is worth seeing once just for her.
Glad to see you exploring her work and if you are just starting her catalog is vast reaching all the way back to the early 1960's. She's done some wonderful duets through the years-You Don't Bring Me Flowers with Neil Diamond, Woman in Love with Barry Gibb, Enough is Enough with Donna Summer among them-but I prefer her as a solo artist.

It was totally live. It was actually just a rehearsal of that scene that was so good, they just put it in the movie as is. And I think another word you may have been looking for to describe the scene and their interaction is "organic."
"A Star Is Born" has been made and remade 4 times since the original in 1937. Barbra's was the 3rd iteration and the one that was changed the most from its predecessors by being more rock oriented. I personally think the chemistry between Barbra and Kris Kristofferson was much more intense than Gaga and Cooper; definitely see the movie.
The closing song of the movie you can watch and react to... Barbra does a performance of "With One More Look At You/Watch Closely Now," that will blow you away. Hope you'll react to it.

Of course it was live, except the song "my man" from Funny Girl 1968, Barbra always sang live all her songs in the movies she made. She explained many times that she is not good at lipsync so she does it live everytime.
