Truck kings, one of the best review channels!! 🍁 🇨🇦 keep up the great work boys, people value the honest unbiased reviews like TFL who either rent or buy the trucks!
Could not agree with you more!
I agree I can’t stand to watch TFL anymore especially if Roman is reviewing a vehicle. You can tell he got cocky and is arrogant. I like André that’s usually the only videos I’d watch if he’s doing a review
They are going to sell so many of these things. The boxy rugged look is in, the Santa Fe is the "Defender we have at home".
If it had a standard 8 speed automatic instead of the dual-clutch it would be a contender for me.
Bingo. Exactly what I said. The DCT should only be in their N performance cars. It’s silly since that have a freaking conventional 8spd in the Palisade
The regular 8-speed auto cannot handle the torque of the 2.5t engine. The same goes for the 6-speed auto. This is a lack of foresight on Hyundai.
@@JT-fq2bl palisade has more power, similar torque, more weight, and tow rating. And it used the standard 8spd auto
Edit: the peak torque version of the 8spd is rated at 310lbft
Por isso a minha decisao ser toyota highlander....mais confiavel
Hey man, I've watched a lot of reviews of the new Santa Fe 2024 XRT... But none of them were off roads and towing... So I gotta say that yours was very helpful and clear!! Thanks! You've got a new fan budd ;)
It looks more like a Ford Flex than a Land Rover IMO.
Nothing necessarily wrong with that either. I actually liked the Flex for what it was.
I was going to say the same thing.
It’s sort of between the two. The Flex was more station wagon than crossover. Side profile is very land rover, as is the steering wheel and dash (Range rover)
It actually looks like the 1990 Hyundai Galloper
@@ALMX5DP you're right, it was not meant to be a negative comment
We have a lot of potholes here in the US (Midwest). Pretty soon these types of vehicles will be standard lol.
Excellent Episode as always!!! 😁
Long term reliability is major concern based on brand history.
Towing rating without trailer brakes is only 1650 lbs! Oh, and only a 4 cylinder!
Hi, I got a white Santa Fe XRT last week here in MA - USA. I love it.
XRT is too Bare bones. Not even a 360 surround camera ? C'mon HMG
Great video! Really like the styling
Thanks! Been looking for this type of review of this car! First I’ve found!
17.7-gal fuel tank and 22 MPG combined... That's only 350 miles of range (using only 90% of the tank), I get a better range with with my 4Runner LTD AWD and my 19 MPG average on KO2s. They really want us to live like we have an electric car and plan trips by the amount of gas stations around! I miss the good old days when you could do 800 miles on a fuel tank (2014 Passat diesel)
Yep, for all those times where you need to drive for over 6 hours without stopping 5 min.
If you want better range, get the hybrid. 603 miles and no need for DEF, and likely not cheating on emissions. 🤣😜
Almost all new vehicles have ridiculously small gas tanks. The new Tacoma is only 17 gallons down from 21. You won't be able to tow 150 miles with that thing. New Ranger is only 18.
@@dcl97 Same ridiculous thing with Chevy trucks at 24 gallons vs Ford that still offers their 36 gallon tank!
@@TheOwenMajor You must a gas station owner, normal humans don't enjoy going to the gas station to fill up their vehicles 2-3 x week.
Thanks for the video, I was looking at a video of this XRT in some off-road challenges. I think the new design is a great comeback of Santa Fe, the last two versions were looking more to a Hyunday Tucson than an original Santa Fe heritage. Inclusive with this version the XRT trim makes names and from now, all Hyundai XRT trim will follow this capability standard.
Spare tire on the XRT is included. Its under the car. I guess only for US specs models.
Yea not in Canada models
I think they should have given it a better approach and departure angle. Even just a couple more inches.
looks good. But what is the suspension travel?
It looks pretty damn good at least on video. I'm not sure about in person, but I guess we'll see
This is going to slingshot hyundai to a top notch brand
Actual buyers aren't deterred, really don't care about vanity/ aesthetics past initial impressions as long as it delivers in features and smarts on the INSIDE.
I circled away from the Genesis gv60 many, many times gravitating to the gv70 and gv80 before deciding the gv60 INTERIORS were far superior for me.
Good presentation
Love the grown up Ford Flex look. Not a fan of the DCT for the "off road" trim. Or the third row seats, or the plastic seats, or the sunroof, and lastly the increased weight....
I'll probably end up getting one anyway...
I like the look better than the last generation but, I definitely get Ford Flex vibes. Also, the dual clutch is unfortunate.
2nd row seats slide to allow for more room in 3rd row btw. With 42 in 2nd moving it forward like 5/6 inches still leaves ample room in 2nd row while making 3rd 36 inches.
It’s no palisade but the difference isn’t as big as you’d expect either. Set in both passenger seating option and you’ll see what I’m writing about.
Just purchased an XRT… ran outside to see if it had a spare, and it does!!! But it doesn’t have a hitch (and I knew that)… maybe the spare doesn’t fit if you opt for a hitch…. I would prefer the hitch
I think the overall appearance is fine, but those tail lights they miss the mark on that one
Looks great!
Wish it had a V6!
8:14 Thanks for the measurement of the width of the hatch opening (50.1"). Do you happen to know what the width of the opening is between the wheel wells?
Finally they made a rough road version. Would love to see how it compares to the Explorer Timberline and Pilot Trailsport
Awesome!😎
Simple answer is no it’s not rugged by any measure..
Great review man! Is it still a fairly smooth ride on normal highway driving without towing anything?
Yes it is!
Thank you!
I'm intrigued by Hyundai. I used to work at a car dealership service department back in the 1980s when Hyundai first came to the USA. We didn't have a good opinion of them, and for valid reasons. It seems that their reputation has changed over the years. I can't say I would buy one, but because of their warranty and their styling, I'm warming up to them.
So no pictures of the hitch? It's talked about but have to yet to find a pic of it.
It’s an interesting design. Has some nice features.
Looks more futuristic than rugged
Problem is, HMG is not equipping the car trims with appropriate INTERIOR features recently . - XRT trim should have come included with the 360 SURROUND CAMERA.
- Calligraphy trim appears to have omitted the right front passenger seat controls facing the driver / center console - this is standard in every other region. C'mon Hyundai 😡
I thought the same, blind spot and 360 cam should be on the xrt; Hyundai offer very little in the way of upgrades and customization on your vehicle
I actually like it a lot, I dont see the Ford Flex but more of a Range look. I might get one
I like it! Reminds me of the Nissan X-terra
Looks like build with Lego bricks. Pretty brave in light off road. Great review as always. Greetings
I love the new design
Looks good to me. Definitely the best looking Santa Fe
In southern BC and probably all of Canada, Hyundai MSRP is pure fiction. You can’t buy at that price. Every dealer adds on some useless “protection package” or something similar that adds $3k or more to the price. What’s more, it’s not disclosed in any advertising of the price. If you tell the dealer you don’t want it, they’ll tell you it’s already installed (even on a car not yet at the dealer) and that it’s non-negotiable. It’s this sort of asinine crap that makes people hate car dealerships.
Just got a xrt, still learning and love the priceing. Still allot
A nice gentleman suv, now converted to a Scion XB style.. Landover is obviously overstated. 😅
It has good proportions and it looks interesting but the odd details do detract from the look. I'm not a fan of the pixelated lights, and the taillights are simply in the wrong place. Also, it still has too many capacitive touch buttons.
Santa Flex?
Yes, the look can go that way too! I had a Flex, the second row seat legroom was amazing and was so comfy. I wish they had updated it instead of selling the same thing for 10 years.
Love the look and lower price of a Land Rover Defender. However, no frame and no skid plates??
I like the boxy design. That said, there's no guarantee that the look will age well.
03:52, 7 inches isn’t a lot of ground clearance. Heck, 8.3 is barely acceptable. Especially for a rough road aimed vehicle. Add in that back brings some strong 90s Previa vibes, it’s not a great vehicle at all.
Stock Bronco's only come with 8.4.
The styling is Defender meets G-Wagon! Only a real auto enthusiast can see the coalation between the two.
so why cant hyundai come up with their own original design, instead of borrowing from others?
@healthyamerican The same thing artists samples each other music. It's an imitation of art. Hyundai is not the only car brand that copies one another. So, let's not be so naive here just because you feel like poking the bear due to your personal disdain for the Korean brand.
Great looking vehicle in a sea of boring designed economy crossovers. And some great features.
But who wants DCT in a 4500lb, lower torque, crossover with 4,500lb tow rating. No thanks. They should be using the 8spd torque converter unit from the Palisade.
The hybrid with 6spd is the powertrain to choose in this vehicle. It’s more power and torque than 2023 and more efficient.
XRT specifically which is rated for 4500lbs has the 6spd AT, not the 8s-DCT.
@@Vamanos46 mmm nope. I drove one two weeks ago, was definitely the DCT and no brochure/info package says anything about the 2.5T being paired to the 6spd for any trim. XRT gets additional cooling, like a trans cooler, but that’s it.
The 6spd is only for the hybrid, and the XRT does not come in hybrid, at least not for 2024
The Santa Cruz is rated to tow 5,000 and it has the DCT too. Not a good trans for it, especially on low speed up hill, boat launches, or any slow traffic conditions
Umm... the taillights just sit too low.
Yeah, it's like the complete opposite issue than what the first gen CR-V had, where the brake light were too high. Although if you compare the new Santa Fe to a MINI Clubman, you're still a good foot higher. The brake lights on that MINI are in the bumper below the license plate.
Not a fan of the styling or the matte paint. It’s too boxy, looks like a bloated station wagon from the rear quarter view looking forward. Those hand holds aren’t a new idea either. Hyundai is in general is a hard pass for me.
those handels on the outside to grab on to i think there a gimick i can see them breaking
i can see them getting full or water and salt and getting stuck open. also, doesnt seem like a safe way to climb up
I'm glad someone brought back the Ford Flex😅
Am I the only one that sees late80’s VW type 2 looking at that rear end?
Towing rating without trailer brakes is only 1650 lbs!
Love the new Santa Fe but hate the engine choices! Not a fan of turbos or hybrids 🙁
looks like a kia carnival minivan with a straight hood
I wish Hyundai would offer a Santa Fe with no third row.
Why? Just fold down the seats.
I want to get home from the woods l stick to my Toyota
Front end looks like a 2008 Ford Flex
The XRT has a spare tire. It’s just under the car.
I don’t know does this not look like the Ford flex boring hope the engine lasts longer than 50,000 km get to know your service manager I know mine on a first name basis
Nope... not at all...But Thanks as always for the review.
no spare tire no sale
You “mash” buttons? I usually press them
Looks like a minivan from the rear.
If they had a motor that would last....
Id buy it
The motors don’t last?
@@ALMX5DP research ... they strip out head bolts (blow head gaskets).

Do people actually use the 3rd row? This is such a stupid trend. Give us the option to delete the useless seats.
Ford Flex-ish ????
It's still an upgraded KIA
No spare tire kinda sums up the vehicle and typical demographic it's targeted towards.
Where do you see any Defender in this? Looks like a Ford Flex! Add some fake wood on the side and you get Chrismas Vacation station wagon...
You obviously haven't seen what a Defender looks like now.
I sure did, but I may still be in state of denial about it...
Good looking but seems underpowered
Rugged Hyundai?? That’s an oxymoron if I ever heard it…
Too much cube shape like in the front and too flat in the back!
This is about as rugged as a chocolate fireguard, as others have tested their AWS system is terrible and may as well not be there
I like the design, but to add a second row prevents me from buying it. I hate the wasted space and money. A spare tire on the back and a nose wihich would allow a better departure would be good as well.
Pretty over these gimmicky third rows. Stop putting useless third rows in CUVs. If you want to carry more people, buy a minivan or a Suburban.
The review of a Hyundai should start at 40000kms. Give it some time for the major components to fail.
What?! Why not test it now since it's a new vehicle?
@@jraheemjefcoat429 They have had numerous issues with their major components ie engine and tranny.
@@jraheemjefcoat429Waaay over your head hey?
Great video ugliest vehicle since the Aztec
It’s very plain looking. Looks like an EV not a off road unit
Awesome car. Hyundai Kia is the new Toyota Honda
this is the only vehicle i have ever seen that people were tired of looking at on the first day of release
hopefully people read reviews before buying kia or hyundai
Ugly unibody crossover trying to be something it's not. And the real question is will it catch fire? 😂 hyundai and fire are synonymous
Sante Fe has always be the worst riding vehicle in that class. My mothet has had every iteration of it and i hate driving in them. Ill stay in my outback.
I would never buy a Hyundai... But I do like this SUV... Much better then the last model
As usual, great video but disastrous brand. Hyundai are absolutely garbage 🗑️
This is one ugly vehicle especially the back.
The rear wiper hidden under the rear spoiler is not ground breaking, the Toyota 4Runner had them for decades.
I owned 2 Hyundai/Kia products. Both had engine and turbo problems which corporate refused to fix. never again. Don't buy any H/K products if you plan to own it for more.than a year or 2.
I think they look good in pictures and even this video, but I’ve seen a couple in person and they look like cheap toys 🤷
