      Definitely, Global warming is becoming a huge issue, and Antarctica is of course rich in materials, likely because the magnetic poles attract the most meteorites. it has been gathering meteors since before the pre-Cambrian!

    Other norwegians commented about this on the original video, but it's inaccurate to show Queen Maud Land not reaching the south pole since 12th of June, 2015 when Queen Maud Land annexed the remaining stretch to the pole.

    • @MrLorem64
      @MrLorem64 2 года назад +3

      Wait but that would put Norway in Violation of the Antarctic treaty, Article 4, Segment 2, which clearly states "No new claim, or enlargement of an existing claim, to territorial sovereignty in Antarctica shall be asserted while the present Treaty is in force."

    • @t-mag3004
      @t-mag3004 2 года назад +1

      @@MrLorem64 The only answer I can give you that makes sense is that I used the wrong word. It wasn't so "annex" as it was " define" the boundaries. For you see, Queen Maud Land's boundaries were never defined when the Antarctic Treaty went into effect, but it was always assumed it's boundaries be defined as reaching the South Pole and extending all the way to the 60th Parallel South (60° S) which the other claims have.
      So the only explanation that doesn't violate the treaty is that Queen Maud Land's assumed boundaries were officially defined to reach the 60° S and the South Pole for the first time on 12th June 2015.

    To clarify the norwegian claim. If im right the norwegians didnt want to recognize the sector-principle of the claims, and thus they didnt specify were the edges of the claim were. Although they «fixed» it in 2015, and now it stretches all the way in, just like the others.

    Yeah, it being colder on clear days in the winter is why we have the notion of it being "too cold to snow" on certain days in the winter. Obviously that is putting the cart before the horse, as it is the lack of clouds (and thus snow) that makes it cold and not the other way around. But it's still useful, as you can tell by temperature forecast alone that, for example, it will be clear skies and no snow tomorrow (or other way around). For example, today was something like minus four degrees celsius here, and tomorrow the weather app says it will be 8 above. So obviously it's going to rain.

    Someone not mentioned in the video - on November 2, 2001, Travis McHenry, a micro-nationalist (those people who basically turn their homes into new and unrecognized countries), claimed Marie Byrd Land and proclaimed it the Grand Duchy of Westarctica, with himself as the Grand Duke of Westarctica. Micro-nationalists love those unclaimed or disputes areas of the world. For example, in 2014, a man named Jeremiah Heaton claimed Bir Tawil as the Kingdom of North Sudan so that he could make his daughter a real princess for her 7th birthday, and the Croatian police will arrest anyone who attempts to enter a disputed area on the Danube that a Czech libertarian proclaimed the Free Republic of Liberland.

    The reason Argentina declared war on Nazi Germany right at the end of the war was actually to facilitate the flight of Nazis TO Argentina, including some of their top aeronautical engineers (Kurt Tank, Reimar Horten). As one of the "Allies", Argentina could get away with much more than it could have if it had remained officially "neutral" towards the Nazis.

    Yeah Russia is the biggest benefactor to global warming. Because of the way the currents float in the Arctic Ocean all of the ice is now pushed up against the Canadian coastline while the waters around Russia have become increasingly free of ice. This means Russia can now charge ships taking cargo from East Asia to Europe. They have more access to minerals and raw resources in Siberia and the Arctic region as well.
