I was on this crossing with my family. This was my second crossing, we crossed on the 8 night crossing from New York city inJanurary.I fell in love with this magnificent ship. As a77 year old woman who has cruised frequently I did my own quiet thing reading, walking and enjoying everything I chose to do.
We were on the preceding eastbound crossing, and had the bonus of eight nights on board (we stole one of your nights 😂). It was our fourth crossing, one westbound, the others east. If you only do it once, it has to be westbound, the arrival in New York just defies words. However, for practicality and pure relaxation you can’t beat the eastbound crossing. Those ‘red eye ‘ flights and the subsequent jetlag can really detract from a trip to the Big Apple. For less than the price of a business class flight for one person, two can sail in true luxury. Queen Mary 2 has such a sense of occasion about her, and there is so much space for everyone. She is a very special ship, totally unique, and it feels such a privilege to be able to travel on her.
I can't thank you enough for these reviews of the QM2. I'll be sailing her from NYC to Southampton in about 2 weeks and was getting worried about some of the negative reviews I've seen these past few months. I really believe what you get out of a trip like.this is what you put into it. A positive outlook makes all the difference! I can't wait to embark! Thank you!
Thanks Jamie you gave us lots of ideas and advice we are on QM2 in 2026 for 28 nights around USA and Canada with two crossing's . Certainly don't think we will get bored !!!!!!

Brilliant vlog Jamie as always. QM2 looked majestic. Great that you and the ladies had a fantastic time on board. No better way of arriving in NYC than cruising, can understand the emotions. Can't wait for your 2 day adventure in the best city on earth 🗽
Great blog as expected. I had to get up at 3.30 am to sail under the bridge. It was amazing sailing in even in the rain. Isn't it also great arriving without jet lag. My disembarkation turned into a disaster. The storm got really bad. My lugguage was in group one so off early. My lugguage didn't arrive and I was told the first crate off when it was being towed got blown into the sea. The only fortunate thing was I'd put in my gand lugguage everything I needed for my four days in new York and washington. My booked transport, along with everyone else's couldn't get to the cruise terminal due to flooding. It was raining so hard the water couldn't drain. But I'll happily do it again. As I said in my previous comment, the single ocean view cabins are great but to get them, you need to book early.
Fabulous video... there aren't enough good words to say how much we enjoyed watching... we love Melissa and "mother"... what great cruise companions! The chefs special looked delicious! Thanks for sharing 😊
I’ve absolutely loved watching all your QM2 flogs. I love it when you get emotional ❤ there are so many things that make me emotional and also so grateful. I am off on Queen Mary 2 in 2026, unfortunately not transatlantic , but I’m still really looking forward to my time aboard her. 😘X
Thanks for a brilliant review Jamie. Hubby and I are Westbound in October followed by 4 nights at the Hilton Midtown so you've really given us so much useful info. I've watched some vlogs of Queen Mary which have been rather negative so was a little concerned but you've allayed my concerns. Mind you, this cruise has been cancelled twice before so we're going to enjoy it no matter what!

Hi. enjoyed the vlog. I always go for an inside stateroom. I have no intention of spending time in my stateroom other than to sleep. Cost difference between inside and ocean view/balcony staterooms pays for the spa, drinks and gratuities. Themed crossings are excellent.

Still sad that we had to cancel our cruise but watching your time on QM2 softened the disappointment and I’m really pleased that you had a wonderful time on a truly beautiful ship. Loved both blogs, excellent information. We have been on about 9 transatlantic crossings now and absolutely love them. Even so there are still things we have not done onboard. The thermal suite is one of them as we were unsure how it all worked. Your info was very helpful and I shall definitely be giving it a go when we are onboard again (this August yay!). Agree about the food, especially in the MDR. Particularly around number of choices. When we first sailed you had a much wider choice, including a healthy options menu which was great. Keep up the good work Jamie, looking forward to your NY blog.
We have taken the QM2 to Southampton in 2022 as a bucket list trip, but it was so fantastic for us that we're doing it again next year! Money be damned! We never had it anyway! I agree, the food was good. Presentation and service was great, but you don't need food to just look good. Even plain food should taste great, done right. I'm a plain person, but still expected better. As you said, it's not bad.
Thanks for a great set of videos. I've read that there are always available items in Britannia Restaurant, which Cunard do not publicise so you need to know and ask. Things like simple grilled chicken and plain steak dishes. Probably more for folk who don't want well flavoured meals, but it does give some extra choice. Like you we found that we didn't have time in the day to do more than go for a workout or swim, dance, eat meals, and sip drinks in lounges listening to various musicians. That was 14 nights. We've got same booked for June 25 and Sept 26, and don't expect to watch any shows.

@@TravelBlogJamie It's one of the differences in the Britannia and Britannia Club menus - the BC menu apparently lists the always available appetizer and entree choices . [Tomato Soup, Caesar Salad; Chicken, Salmon or a small steak - and some vegetarian choice]

@@TravelBlogJamie Excellent to know! Off on it in a couple weeks for the round trip transatlantic your videos are great and has settled me about the entire experience!
