- Here’s the longest vlog I’ve ever published, a 4 day extravaganza of my first every voyage onboard Cunard’s Queen Victoria and also a solo voyage. I’ll talk you through the embarkation process, muster, use of the myvoyage.cunard.com web page whilst onboard, meal times, daytime activities, speciality dining, afternoon tea, making the most of your cabin, sailing the Sound of Mull, use of the bow, food and drinks menus all the way through to the disembarkation process. It’s going to be epic so grab a long drink and settle somewhere comfy for this voyage like no other.
Don’t forget I have 3 vlogs in this Queen Victoria series! Please support by liking and subscribing. You can also catch me on Twitter and Instagram @TravelBlogJamie and my website travelblogjamie.com.

Queen Victoria is my favourite ship. Jamie, your review did it justice. Your sense of humour is infectious! I really enjoy watching your vlogs. Thank you
Thank you so much 😊
Oh Jamie, I think this is the best you ever blogged! I really enjoyed your cruise with you, and to have it all in one long video was great. You obviously had a lovely time.
I think your empathy with your table mate was beautiful. I wanted to give you a hug.
Thanks for sharing it all. As a solo cruiser it was especially absorbing.
That’s such a lovely comment - thank you so much, appreciate it
@@TravelBlogJamie. I lost my partner in January. When you started to get emotional I filled up too. Great video
@@MeMe-mi1xc oh I’m so so sorry 😔
To say this vlog is poignant to me is an understatement! In October last year I booked a 4 nighter to Amsterdam on the QV for this October. In November my mum who was 85 was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus. In March I decided that I should cancel as I did not want to leave her if she was ill. An amazing lady at Cunard suggested that rather than cancel I postpone and choose another cruise for a later date. I chose the same cruise for November 2023. I lost my mum on August 2nd. As I had the holidays booked off from work for October I decided to rebook the cruise for this year again. So I am in fact booked on the same cruise this year & next. When you were telling the story and crying I was in floods of tears myself. This will be my first cruise with Cunard but my 10th in total. I think it will be a very difficult one as it is in some ways in memory of mum but also my first step in moving forward. Take care Jamie and I look forward to seeing your future vlogs x
I am so so sorry to read this and my absolute best thoughts are with you. I hope your future travels help you to reconcile all these challenges. Thinking of you 🙏
That was so special, your tea with the gentleman who had lost his wife and your sensitivity. God bless you Jamie!
🙏🙏🙏
So pleased you enjoyed your cruise. Wonderful video - loved it!!!
Having last sailed with Cunard in 2018 we’d forgotten just how luxurious their ships are.
You’re absolutely right regarding the ‘Chart Room’ - what a perfect venue it is.
Thanks once again for sharing the vlog and for providing us with such a great memento of our cruise!
Hoping we meet again in the not-too-distant future - the Sauvi Blanc is on us. Cheers!
Oh I’m there if there’s a savvy blanc at the other end ❤️😂 thanks for your kind comments 🙏
Super & comprehensive video. So looking forward to our World Voyage coming up! Thank you for posting!
Thank yo uh so much and what a voyage you have ahead of you!
What a brilliant Vlog, you covered absolutely everything and so entertaining as well. Will be watching your other vlogs for sure. Thank you
Hi Lisa - thank you so much, really appreciate your feedback 🙏🙏🙏
You really showed me the things I wanted to see in a tasteful and informative way better than anyone else
I appreciate this and I think you might be the only person ever to call me tasteful 😂 Glad you enjoyed!
Hi Jamie, as always a truly 5* video and you go above and beyond to create only the best in travel vlogs for us all to enjoy. It was a pleasure to meet you whilst on this cruise. I also very much enjoyed it and you truly captured the ship in all her beauty and I am so pleased you have as it is great to see. You even captured the dolphins too which is a real plus. I had my mother with me and she has always very much loved Cunard, however I am now creating memories and trying to give her the best time possible following her life changing brain hemorrhage and being able to take a scenic cruise to our home country Scotland was a real bonus too. Thank you again this has made my Sunday watching this and you have also brought some laughs to us too. Thank you again, Brian PS: You could easily promote for Cunard as you have captured this line in a magical way which will have deleted a lot of myths that people have about this line and that it is stuffy and old which it truly isn't.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this and for your super kind comments - maybe you can put a good word in for me with Cunard 😆 It was a pleasure to meet you both and in only wish I’d been able to get you in the blog too! Take care of yourselves ❤️
Great vlog, just to go on my first cruise in a couple of weeks and it's the Queen Victoria. Now I'm really looking forward to the experience. Thank you.

Your vlog is detailed and very interesting. You seemed to enjoy your stay very much, that is a +++. You have a good sense of humor. YoU can make people smile, you make me smile. I feel you for the companion you had "the guy & his son, loosing his wife for cancer". You have a good heart. This vlog is very beautiful and worth all time watching! Thank you for sharing.

Loved this video! I’m on this ship for the world cruise in January and my first Cunard. This was fabulous!
Oh wow what a first cruise to have with Cunard! It’s going to be epic!
Jamie, a brilliant vlog, very thoughtful, we learned so much for when we do our first ever cruise next year and are super happy we choose the Victoria. Thank you for giving some time to your fellow traveller as you said, trying to live after such heart ache. We will certainly subscribe and review your other travels! God Bless!
Oh thank you so much and I hope you have a wonderful time onboard this beautiful ship ❤️

Thank you 🙏
Loved watching this vlog, you really allow your followers to feel part of your cruise, once again thank you. 😊
Ah that’s so kind ❤️❤️❤️
Brand new follower here, a year after you posted this -- just found you while searching QV videos as I'm booked on her again in a month's(ish) time for the second time ever (1st time back in 2009 before her refurb too!). Excellent content :-) As a long long long-time solo traveler and older woman (lived in ten countries solo, cruised solo, etc., published a book about it all), I had to stop at 20:35 in your video and make a comment. "That's the power of travel"...absolutely!! The amazing people I have met along the way, whether it's sitting in the dining car of a train traveling alone and you invariably end up chatting away the time with a fellow traveler...the stories, the hopes, dreams and desires...the bucket list items checked off...I am a better person because of every fellow traveler I have met and taken the time to listen to. The power of travel indeed 💪😊😁
This is such a great comment / story to read - thank you for sharing
I agree, I think this is one of the best you've produced. You can really produce an excellent production and Cunard should be extremely pleased with how you illustrated the style, service and experience on the Queen Victoria.
I swear I gained 12 pounds just watching the food and drink you consumed, and you look like you just stepped off the treadmill!
So this is a 4 night cruise with or without an actual port call? Did the weather delay or cancel that day's plan as I did not hear or understand the full officer announcement you played. I would however a enjoy a short cruise to just see the landscape, and if it is Scotland or UK waters I'd be a happy sailor. You may remember my big plans are the crossing of the big "pond."
So your #1 fan in Florida USA says "well done" and thank you for the effort. Excellent. Safe travels always, and take care.
Ah my lovely Florida friend! Thank you so much 😊 No ports of call on this one, just scenic cruising. We were delayed a couple hours sailing through the Sound of Mull due to fog but it lifted and we were on our way again ❤️

Jamie, what an amazing VLOG. You had me in hysterics with some of your antics and references, "we need to talk about.. Kevin." I LOL'd so hard. I was also moved by your story about the gentleman you shared afternoon tea with. That's what I love about cruising, you meet people who can humble you with their stories and experiences. Loved it mate! Keep up the amazing work!
Thank you soooo much! Really appreciate your comments. I get very emotional very easily these days 😂
Great vlog on Queen Victoria. I’ve just got back from my 4 night cruise. I loved the ship and the Cunard experience. I was in 1004, great deck and cabin. It got me upset when you were talking about the gentleman who you shared afternoon tea with. I chose open dining, its on deck 2 and the fixed dining is on deck 3 now. That’s interesting, you went to Coriander, while I was on board, it was an Italian called La Piazza. I had impeccable service and wonderful food. I enjoyed Top Hat. Will definitely go back on QV. Loved it.
Oh I wonder if they rotate the theme / menu in the speciality section of the buffet?! So pleased you had a lovely time onboard ❤️

My daughter and I enjoyed the delights of a balcony on QV for a short cruise. When we departed Southampton, we passed by Hayling Island where my brother lives. We told him when we were passing and he dashed down to the beach to see if he could see us waving to him (like a pair of lunatics!). Unfortunately, it was too misty so alas. Good fun anyway. I agree that the food was good, especially in the buffet restaurant - believe it or not! I am sad to say that the only time I have had to send back a dish was in the main dining room. It was tuna disguised as shoe leather! Oh my, and the second attempt was worse. The waiter was devastated. I requested something completely different and, to his immense relief, declared it much improved. The next day, in the buffet restaurant, I tried (with great trepidation) the trout fillet and it was superb. One of the best memories of QV I have is - the wonderful variety of CARPETS all round the ship! I know! Crazy or what? Beautiful ship, lovely musicians playing in little areas here and there. Just class personified. Thank you for the reminder. ❤
Thank you for all your comments and feedback

We have never cruised but to cut a very long story short I was diagnosed with cancer ( a year ago at 61 ) and am currently having treatment till the end of the year. Such a wake up call .We want to get away so much and stumbled on a Cunard ad in the paper. Next thing you know we really like the round the world trip itinerary on this ship in January 23. Been planning a RTW trip by air for a long time but something always came up. This looks like the ideal solution hopefully. Lots of rest and still get to travel but in pure indulgence by the look of it! We have spent winters abroad before ( more than six months ) so.. Have to wait last minute to book though ( when my treatment ends and latest PET & Brain scans in December). All goes well we will be onboard!
I am sending you all the very best positive vibes for your journey to a full recovery. Please let me know how you are getting on from time to time and then I want to hear all about this RTW trip - what a fantastic thing to plan to do. Think of you 🙏
