I’m enjoying this vlog as I am off on the same itinerary in May. I am travelling in a solo cabin , I’m a bit nervous as it’s the first time cruising on my own. The last i sailed it was on Britannia with my late wife.
Sorry to hear about your news, Martin. There are daily solo meets as you’ll be aware and it’s so easy to share tables in the MDR if you want. I’ve sailed solo on occasion and always someone to talk to if you want. I’m sure it’ll be fine l, as sad as the situation. Take care and let me know how you get on!
@@TravelBlogJamieI too am going solo at the end of June and was pleased to read that there are daily solo meets. I found this brilliant on my last Princess cruise. Thoroughly enjoyed part 1 - will now watch part 2. Thanks
Thanks for your video. Just a quick question. Are the drinks packages worth it? The top drinks package for both of us will double the price of the cruise! I can't see us drinking £100 of booze per day even if we hit the cocktails and wine in excess. Advice please. 👍
My advice would be to watch the drinks package vlog I released about a week ago with the most up to date packages and individual drinks prices plus I show how many drinks you’d need per day to break even
Great part 1, nice to have over 1 hr blog. I enjoyed 9 m swell going down to Tenerife, love rocking and rolling. Shame about your experience in the Limelight Club. That was not my experience of it. So different. I stole the coaster from 6th Street Diner. 😂 Love all the dining choices. Arvia is fabulous. I am amazed by Keel and Cow breakfast, didn’t even think about having breakfast there. I adore Eggs Benedict. Lovely menu. Look forward to part 2.
Crossing the Atlantic there was a lot of hoo ha about the sunbeds. The sun was always on the port side each day and you couldn’t get a sunbed on the sunny side and there were a lots of hogging, getting up early to put your towels on. There were always sunbeds available on the dark side
Ship looks fab. I’m thinking of doing Caribbean on Arvia next Xmas. Just wondering have you ever booked through Iglu? It’s cheaper than booking through p&o themselves. Have you an opinion about this? Thanks
Great vlog Jamie very informative really good to see the ports👏👌. Haven’t been abroad since 2019 so wondered if you used euros or credit cards mostly. Many thanks
Hi, love your videos they are really helpful. We have just booked a 14 night med cruise on arvia, but its not until May 2025 :(. I am really interested to know what shore excursions P & O offered - do you have any details? Thanks in advance.
Sorry this is nearly a year ago so I don’t have the up to date details of excursions on this itinerary - you’ll have noticed we did nearly everything independently too. I think it was just Lucca we did as a transfer via P&O. Hopefully you saw part 2 as well as lots of ideas how to spend time ashore
At the end of the next video, can you show how much extra you spent on dining etc, because it seems like a lot of extra expense. Is there a dining package and were you on a drinks package or pay as you go. The ship seems lovely, not a fan of restaurants in Atriums to be honest because of the noise, which seemed excessive, but its got some great new ideas for p&o.
The thing is we choose to spend the extra for those restaurants. But there are still plenty of options without paying extra. There’s no dining package, mostly because you just pay for items you want. We actually far prefer this approach to other cruise lines we’ve sailed. I’m doing a food vlog, however, that outlines costs on menus and what we had. But like I said, personal choice.
Absolutely loved this part and certainly wouldn't bother me if people were walking past my balcony, I'd be glad to have a balcony just to sit out on. Have never cruised before in my 42 years but definitely want to. What cruise would you recommend for a first time cruise virgin?
Hi Alan - do you have a particular itinerary in mind / where you’d be sailing from? And what do you think would be important to you on a cruise ship? If you can let me know I’ll give you some ideas about cruise lines / ships
@Travel Blog Jamie Hi definitely don't fancy inside cabins as I'd rather have a window or balcony to see out if I fancied watching the world go by from the room. Not one for the formal nights. Would love to visit the likes of Italy, Netherlands and possibly around the Mediterranean and Iceland areas.
So looking forward to watching this as thinking of booking the same cruise for Easter 2024. Quick question about The Limelight Club. As dinner takes so long (😮), are you able to just order a drink and sit at the bar to watch the performance? Thank you Jamie!
Hi Jamie, 1st time subscriber and love your channel!!. I'm really undecided about whether P&O Cruises or Marella Cruises. As the TUI Cruises are all inclusive and P&O you have to pay for a drinks package which seems to be quite expensive, which one would you recommend and which has the best food in your opinon. And !!- even though I love children....when is the best time to travel without a lot of children aboard- thx for any response and once agin great channel!!!👍✊🤛
Generally / overall I think P&O food is juuuust a bit better (on Iona and Arvia there are soooo many options too) but preferred the buffet on Marella and Kora La excellent. We never get a drinks package on P&O as the drinks are very reasonably priced. To avoid children, out of school hols or the adults only ships.
Hi Jaimie We are watching your vlogs particularly the 2 weeks Mediterranean on Arvia as we are setting sail in 4 weeks time on the same cruise and cant wait. We have found your tips very useful so thank you! 🙂 Can I just ask a few questions if you don't mind as we are new cruisers. We are not going to take out the drinks package but just wondered do the litre bottles of booze need be in your case that you can take on board. If I was to order a bottle of wine but not finish it all can you then take this with you to another bar/restaurant. As you have to pay for wi-fi can you still use the ‘myholiday app’ if you don’t connect to wi-fi and can this be downloaded prior to boarding. Thanks Jaimie and keep vlogging 🙂 Michelle
me and my wife and 83 year old father in-law are going on our first cruise in september of next year 14 nights med cruise we are on deck 3 inside cabin as it was cheapest deal so i’m a bit apprehensive as to how the cruise is gonna be and wether we will actually get too see most of the ship etc
1st timers, just booked on Arvia for Summer 2025 with the kids who will be 13 and 6. Any feedback from parents on the facilities and activities for kids of this age?
You essentially get more floor space in these rather than more facilities - the extra space is definitely welcome and an improvement on the standard inside cabins

Shame about your experience in the Limelight Club. That was not my experience of it. So different.
I stole the coaster from 6th Street Diner. 😂
Love all the dining choices. Arvia is fabulous.
I am amazed by Keel and Cow breakfast, didn’t even think about having breakfast there. I adore Eggs Benedict. Lovely menu.
Look forward to part 2.
@@carolr9301 oh 9 metre swells would have been awesome 😎 it was far too calm 😂
Crossing the Atlantic there was a lot of hoo ha about the sunbeds. The sun was always on the port side each day and you couldn’t get a sunbed on the sunny side and there were a lots of hogging, getting up early to put your towels on. There were always sunbeds available on the dark side
@@carolr9301 that’s disappointing to hear
Great video again Jamie, do you get bathrobe to use when you have the Spa Pass for 2 hours?
Yes they provide the robes ❤️
Ship looks fab. I’m thinking of doing Caribbean on Arvia next Xmas. Just wondering have you ever booked through Iglu? It’s cheaper than booking through p&o themselves. Have you an opinion about this? Thanks
Yes I have and the service was of the worst I’ve ever had!
Great vlog Jamie very informative really good to see the ports👏👌. Haven’t been abroad since 2019 so wondered if you used euros or credit cards mostly. Many thanks
We used credit card nearly everywhere but some euros for market stalls and the odd small independent place
Thank you .....Jamie, fabulous, lol at the orange mask, when is part two ? 😊
Part two hopefully next Saturday 🙏 I’ve started editing…eeeek
Loved the vlog! Always remember… nobody pays your bills!
🙏🙏🙏
@@Alanw80 so if a Med Cruise is what you want you have a big big choice of cruise lines but if you want informal I’d suggest NCL or Marella
So looking forward to watching this as thinking of booking the same cruise for Easter 2024.
Quick question about The Limelight Club. As dinner takes so long (😮), are you able to just order a drink and sit at the bar to watch the performance?
Thank you Jamie!
Alas no - it’s an all in experience at the limelight - it’s never taken that long in the past so hoping it was a one off!
@@TravelBlogJamie I thought that might be the case. I just won’t order the mushrooms! 😂
Thank you again
@@amandalingard8034 oh the mushrooms - tasty but eeeeeeek
7 weeks till I go on Arvia this video was great
Very welcome and hope you enjoy!
@@TravelBlogJamieThanks 👍 and these videos have made me even more excited
@@poamis expensive habit!!
Thx so much for replying so quickly and you blogs are Superb, say hi to Maffoo!!!@@TravelBlogJamie
What was your food like? Was it any good?
Thanking You

Hi! Every meal rated / reviewed in this vlog!
Hi Jaimie
We are watching your vlogs particularly the 2 weeks Mediterranean on Arvia as we are setting sail in 4 weeks time on the same cruise and cant wait. We have found your tips very useful so thank you! 🙂
Can I just ask a few questions if you don't mind as we are new cruisers.
Thanks Jaimie and keep vlogging 🙂
Michelle
1) Your litre bottles can go in hand luggage or case - up to you!
2) I made a vlog all about the ‘my holiday’ page - link here for you ruclips.net/video/QwfUfS9I0ng/видео.html
3) wine will ‘travel’ with you from main dining room!
Thank you very much we will continue watching!
I've just one thing to say about this Vlog. AWSOME
😂😂😂
I love this comment ❤️
Looking forward to part 2 ❤
Thank youuuu 🙏 Hope you enjoyed part 1!
Wednesday for part 2!
me and my wife and 83 year old father in-law are going on our first cruise in september of next year 14 nights med cruise we are on deck 3 inside cabin as it was cheapest deal so i’m a bit apprehensive as to how the cruise is gonna be and wether we will actually get too see most of the ship etc
Oh did you see my tour of an inside cabin?
@@TravelBlogJamie no i’ve not seen the tour of the inside cabin i’ll search for it
Hi Jamie I’m going on the Arvia in May as a solo traveler as im a widow. It’s the first time without my husband. Does Arvia cater for solos?
Yes indeed - solo meets ever day
Hi would you know if you can take a mobility scooter on the shuttle buses it folds down to suit case size?
I wouldn’t like to say for sure because it would depend on the shuttle but I saw some being loaded underneath
Great vlog Jamie,I cannot find Jason and Val's RUclips channel?
Haha! They don’t have one - I was just joking with them!
1st timers, just booked on Arvia for Summer 2025 with the kids who will be 13 and 6. Any feedback from parents on the facilities and activities for kids of this age?
The feedback I heard was that the kids clubs are great but to ensure you enrol as soon as you can
Hi jamie have you any idea what the larger inside cabins are like on Arvia on Deck 4 we are on there in June Thanks
You essentially get more floor space in these rather than more facilities - the extra space is definitely welcome and an improvement on the standard inside cabins
Thanks Jamie that gives me more idea as I took a gamble instead of a outside will have to wait & see
@@colinwarren5785 if you’re going to opt for an inside, the larger ones would always be my preference
Hi loving the videos. What date did you travel?
2 weeks over Easter 🐣
@@TravelBlogJamie that’s great thank you we are going end of April 2024. So excited. You’re so good at doing these videos. Did you book spa and other restaurants entertainment before you traveled? 😊
@@janjanhead7583 thermal suite booked on board, the odd restaurant booked in advance, one show booked in advance
Really enjoying your Arvia vlogs we will be sailing on her in June , can't wait. Could you tell us if the Chefs Table in the Horizon buffet on celebration night is the same menu as in the main dining room ? Also do you think it is a worthwhile experience ? Thanks
Yes it’s exactly the same menu!
It’s set out very nicely but regardless, it’s in the buffet
Thanks Jamie for your reply can't wait for the next vlog. More chat from Matthew would be good 😂😂
@@BarryFinch-nx7ku he hates being on screen so that’s highly unlikely!!
Did u go to Sindu restaurant ?...did they have afternoon tea on the ship?
Yes we went there - will feature in the vlog. Afternoon tea only from buffet at the moment on Arvia
I’m all about day drinking while cruising and walking that Duck all over the decks!
You better walk that ******** duck
Drunk Jamie is So funny 🤣 why I didn’t like Iona last year… buffet was so small not enough food for the thousands on board, really disappointing…. Much preferred Azura last month 😊
Oh but there’s soooo much more than the buffet!!
K307? Had a great time
I Never remember the codes 😂
Jamie when have you got to log on your passport
I honestly don’t recall! I think you can do it on your personaliser as soon as your cruise confirmation is through.
Fantastic video👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much 😊
New to your channel Jamie, love your vlog, looks like you had a great time would you mind telling me what you paid for this?
Thanking You

Do you have to go to the shows?I aren't into evening entertainment, too noisy.,.What ship did you stay on?
Thankyou for your video.

I’d really recommend watching the vlog as all your Qs are answered in it 👍👍👍
When you go for breakfast and request that your cabin is made up - is it generally done by the time you get back do you think? Thankee!
Not always, no!
Where you charged to have ice brought to your room please? How did you ask for it?
No charge. Just ask Cabin steward and they bring it late afternoon every day
