The music is a bit to loud to concentrate what you are saying... I thought I had another tab open woth music playing first lol until I paused the video...
Great review! I have the vista version and it’s one of my favorite quads. Been wanting to upgrade to the O3. I’m glad to hear you mention the screws on top…many people don’t and it’s definitely a frustration as they dig into the batteries. Easy fix but I would have expected Flywoo to fix that
30 minutes of hovering in front of a bathroom window is how pros fly, bro.... haha just kidding. Great review and fantastic info. Thanks for sharing. Love your content!!!
Now this is the content I'd been waiting for before I pulled the trigger and replaced my current explorer with an o3a based one, thank you :D Subbed, and you're getting my affiliate click
Return it! If you already have a long-range or the original Flywoo Explorer. You can just 3D print a new mount for the 03 air unit. It doesn't need to be metal post. This isn't a freestyle quad. Think about it. I have the original Flywoo Explorer. I made a new mount for the front on my 3D printer. It's just as solid as the metal posts but that's irrelevant because this quad will/should never be flown aggressively. The frame is not designed to handle a crash. It's designed to be lightweight. If you want to save money in this lobby you need to think outside the box. 😎
This is actually an attractive idea. Been flying the Dji fpv for a few months now and was looking at trying to get a sub 250 that wasn’t just a tiny whoop. Yeah, I’ll need to buy batteries and a charger but that doesn’t look bad at all. It’d be nice to be able to be “legal” but then swap batteries and have 25 minutes out at the fields.
@@STERLING43O Hey, you might as well upgrade to 4.4. Follow these steps. (I haven't tried it yet, but I assume they work) The factory tune should be in the CLI download on this page: flywoo.tawk.help/article/explorer-lr-4-hd-dji-o3-airunit
@@STERLING43O Hmm, I'm assuming even after you reset everything betaflight still works and boots up right? If so, go download Bf 4.4 and follow the link in my other message. Good luck
Hi. No I don’t think I have a full setup video. I do have a tuning video but that may be out of date now. If you get bnf version it’s pretty much setup already you just need to bind it to your transmitter
To anyone watching that wants to save a ton of money. If you already have a long-range drone, or even the original Flywoo Explorer. You can just 3D print a new mount for the 03 air unit. It doesn't need to be metal post. This isn't a freestyle quad. Think about it. I have the original Flywoo Explorer and I've never crashed it because it's made for cruising. I have other quads for freestyle. I simply made a new mount for the front on my 3D printer. It's just as solid as the metal posts but that's irrelevant because this quad will/should never be flown aggressively. The frame is not designed to handle a crash. It's designed to be lightweight. If you don't have one yet buy this one. Flywoo is a great company. This is for people that already have a long range quad and think they need to get a new frame or whole new quad just to run the 03 air unit.
That's great to hear. I'm impressed you got it all to fit somehow. I'd be worried about the rear props striking the new air unit. Do you have a link to your build? In case you somehow break your frame though, The new one is a little bit easier to work on because it has more trunk space. Also I forgot to mention too in the video is the rear arms geometry is now wider in total by 10mm. Helps with space, possibly stability as well. I'm very thankful the frame kits only $34.99 XD I lose these drones to mother nature a lot. XD
If you chose a receiver to match your remote transmitter controller from the website, you should be good! that wire would/should be plugged into your choice of nano receiver such as Crossfire, ELRS, or FRSKY etc. If you chose PNP, you'll need to solder it.
Mine will be here Tuesday. Bought the Lion batteries also. Been flying the Rekon 5 so this one should be a good match. Looking forward to the O3 upgrade.
I wish these companies sold their drones as a kit. It's so much fun putting these things together, but it's nice to not have to think about compatibility and all the flight settings figured out.
That is a good idea. The only company I can think of doing that is ummagawd. They sell full build kits with all the hardware frame and electronics still in their packaging, but you still have to go into betaflight afterwards to adjust settings, and tune pids for yourself.
Right on! Perfect entry to get into custom fpv drones, and not restricted by geo fencing and sub250g with certain battery configurations! Plus they already have goggles 2 and controller!
Hey Patty, I have done alot of simulator flying. I am thinking about this drone with the Dji Goggles 2 + Dji FPV controller 2. Would this be a good first drone? Thanks
Yes I believe it would be a very good first fpv drone. Go for it! if you don’t plan to use DJI oem fpv drones such as the avata or DJI fpv, instead of the DJI controller 2 I’d go with something like tbs tango or mambo, or radio master etc. that connect to a dedicated long range receiver. just make sure you choose the right receiver system when you buy the drone. I now use tbs crossfire for my receiver and a tbs tango 2 pro for my radio for example.
@@PattyFlipz Thank you for your reply! My thinking was that if I got the FPV controller 2 I could just use that for every drone I get in the future (with the O3 air system) and not use a radio controller from a different brand. I don't plan on ever using a Dji drone. I have noticed when I look at the drones that I can get one with just the O3 and no extra receiver. Or with an MRLS/crossfire/walks nail. Why would you pick a o3 then add an extra receiver? Still learning here! High five for the East Riding of Yorkshire 🖐️❤️
@tbrowniscool hey no problem! If you use a different brand, sometimes they offer higher resolution gimbals (they go further each way). You can get better feel with the sticks. More importantly, if the auo3 ever somehow fails or you lose connection during flight, you still will have control with your dedicated receiver and controller, and this moment you have time to react to push the gps return home button (for gps equipped quads like explorer) if you don’t have gps and you can see the quad, you can fly it home using line of sight. Say you use DJI controller, if you lose connection to the auo3, even signal loss through the goggles, from what I’ve heard, you will signal loss to your controller for a few moments as well causing you to be helpless for a while, maybe drone will just failsafe and drop (imagine you are flying over the water for non gps equipped drones) at least if you had dedicated receiver you can just stick it into angle mode and throttle up for a while or something until you see your quad. maybe you can do some more research on this topic. There’s a channel called mads tech. He talks about this issue many months ago.
Yes if you are just coming to the world of FPV and want a nice cruiser with all the little bells and whistles, (gps, buzzer) this is a good FPV quad to learn on. Just note any hint of wind can make the explorer have some shakes and wiggle it around, (though you will still retain good control) so you will need some really good electronic stabilization software to remove the shakes in the footage. Anyway, think of it more as what the name implies. Simply what it is. An explorer with very high battery life and efficiency, great for noobs, or recon of an area before you take the 7" FPV drone out of your bag :)
Hi nice video. Whats the diff to a dji min 3 pro? Can i stream the video to the phone or a controller? Is the drone software open source? What battery i need for 30 min flight time?
Hi Gerald. This is an Fpv drone that uses Vr goggles to fly and is able to do acrobatics like flips. if you have DJI goggles 2 you can stream to your phone but you can’t control the drone with your phone. the software used is called beta flight. takes time to learn how to fly Fpv drones or put together so it’s more for medium to advance drone users.. mini3 pro is easier to fly out of the box and is more sophisticated and easier to learn with its sensors and intuitive control.
excellent review sir! were you able to check if flywoo soldered the copper sheet shielding to the FC ground terminal? does. the stock M10 module have a quick 3D fix from a cold start?
Hi Rener, no I did not check and had no idea they did that? I know they wrap the copper wire around the gps wire but never seen the copper sheet soldered to the ground. The gps has a pretty quick fix even from cold start. Let’s say 1-2 minutes especially with clear skies. Much faster than the old v2 unit which to me felt like 5 minutes and was so bad sometimes I had to fly it around first to gather sats land and re arm again
I’m interested in picking one of these up so I’ve been doing my usual research on a couple different drones. You can absolutely see some of the wash out so I was curious if you ever shared your updated tuning on a different video or somewhere here in the comments? Good video!! 🎉
Hi sorry I don’t know, but with inav you can do a reliable altitude hold, or with wings I think they just fly around in circles until you are ready to take control again. In betaflight you hit gps rth it will fly home and land with versions after 4.4. That’s all I know of so far. Cheers
@@PattyFlipz thanks bro for your reply. Yes, it is probably too complicated soft that needed more like AI 😊The idea is that drone should just follow you and make video along the way. Anyway, some more ideas for devs to try. All the best in your hobby!
Hi David, not too sure. Yes I would really like the FOV on the goggles to be something like the oculus gaming headset. Would be nice to be fully immersed like you are superman flying.
Great info thanks. Question: I have one on my desk, just waiting for the controller 2 and goggles 2 to be available. Will the controller 2 be good enough for within a 2-mile radius? Flying similar to where you are at. Or should I go for crossfire?
After the filming the video. I flew controller 2 a few times and just put in crossfire instead and used my tango 2 pro, which is way better feel, same game pad design, and has little screen to see where the quads gps position is (you gotta set it up) I've been hearing for any reason your auo3 overheats, or even goggle reception fails, controller 2 may failsafe as well and quad will drop to the ground! Not sure how accurate this assumption is but I dont want to even test it. Crossfire is rated for 50km and it never let me down. If auo3 fails at least you can gps rth still and eyeball the rest to land
@@PattyFlipz Thanks. Good call, I have used crossfire in the past and it was excellent. I think I will put the money towards a tango 2 or Radiomaster Boxer. Did you just solder on the leads to the crossfire rx and make some uart changes in Betaflight? Also, did you have to disable the DJI RX radio link?
@@msulkey Hi, yes exactly, just solder positive, ground, RX TX to the nano rx, quickly desolder the sbus cable (I think its blue on the PNP) and if your RX TX is RX4 TX4 for example, in betaflight in ports just turn uart 4 serial RX to on position. In the receiver tab, change sbus into CRSF and channel map to TAER1234 and you are good to go.
Hi, if you have full line of sight I think you can get up to 4-5km. I’m using iflight crystal patch and the iflight bobbins that come with them. If you want better range make sure the antenna on the drone is taller to clear the drone and battery too cause signal can be blocked by the drone itself if antenna is too short. The stock DJI o3 antenna is not long enough to do full potential lr imo.
@@PattyFlipz thanks for taking time to reply. Really appreciate it. I'm also using the iFlight crystal patch with the bobbin (stubby) that comes together. But I'm just curious if the patch combined with stock bobbin on top is better?
Stubby was the word! Thanks! 😅 Best to test it! I would just use a big field and put stock first and go behind some trees far away (maybe 1km) See how it effects your mbps. Then put on the stubbies and try again! Or even try it in your house. Just put the drone in the room and walk around with the walls, or even walk down the block. Which one penetrates better?
Hi do u hava a problem with the gps locking in satellites? I order same drine with the goku m10 v3 gps n im having a hard time getting any satellites. No sure what to do. Any suggestions besides trying a different gos. Heard this is a good gps though.
Oh that’s strange. Is it bnf? Assuming all the settings are on right? I have trouble when it’s cloudy, or in a cement building eg: trying to lift off a covered patio. I also get interference from running streams, like a river. Usually takes 2-5 min to get 6-7 satellites
@@PattyFlipz just found out the cli i downloaded online had the wrong gps setting or it was meant for another gps. I reset the baud to auto and now i have 11 sats. 👍
I put it inside for now on top of the tray inside above the fc. I may switch over to crossfire soon and my tango (like all my other drones) Seems like everyone is telling me to. Haha.
No it won't work by itself. You need the TBS nano rx receiver and Immortal T antenna. if you purchase from Flywoo website, make sure you select crossfire option and then the drone will work with the tango II pro. They would preinstall the TBS nano rx receiver and immortal T antenna then you bind through your remote and betaflight. Cheers.
@@wilsgrant Hi very good question! I don't have experience with a Dji Avata, but If you use rocksteady with it often, it should be quite a similar experience, especially when cruising and flying normally. With a proper fpv drone with no ducts, you may find yourself wanting to fly more aggressive, and may find limitations with rocksteady. The cool thing is for the O3, if you decide to shoot in wide mode and turn off rocksteady, you can download the free program gyroflow. Load up your O3 footage and tune it to your liking. :) It's pretty easy to learn and figure out. Good luck.
@@PattyFlipz Thanks! Sorry for the confusion, I wasn't talking about the quality of the footage. Just the feeling of flying in stabilized flight mode of this drone (DJI calls it "normal" and "sport" compared to "manual") compared to DJI.
@@wilsgrant Oh ok! No problem. The custom fpv drones have betaflight loaded into the flight controller, the mode you are asking about is called angle mode (similar to sport mode on Dji FPV) The main thing is to ensure your custom fpv drones accelerometer is calibrated correctly (place on flat level surface, and make sure in betaflight pitch and roll is near 0 and hit calibrate. Although angle mode works really well and can be fine tuned how soft or aggressive it can be, can also be flown quite fast or by visual line of sight. But I would still say the DJI drones programming is superior. For example if you let go of the sticks on the explorer in angle mode, if not calibrated well, the drone will drift off slowly like a toy (even indoor). The gps plays no part in holding it in place, also there are no external sensors on the drone. Also if you go fast with angle mode, you will see all the dips, rolls, pitch bobbles in your goggle view, as it doesn't have a mechanical up and down gimbal like the avata. Personally I only use angle mode for flying very slowly with cinewhoops indoor, or flying quickly indoors or outdoor as visual line of sight.
Hi I never tried but I can easily cruise at 80km/h. At full throttle I’m not too sure as I rarely do that with this drone. but it can most likely hit 100-120kph or more very easily.
Hi these are radio transmitter protocols. Bnf DJI works with DJI controller 2. Tbs nano rx works with tango 2 transmitter or mambo and any transmitter with crossfire protocol installed. Etc. I personally use tbs cross fire products. Very easy to use and long range.
Hi! I don't really recommend the explorer for freestyle. It can do some simple tricks but may complain at certain angles and advanced movements. If you want something to freestyle with ease and never have a doubt about ultimate performance, Try a durable 5" frame with 2306 / 2306.5 1750kv motors and 6S lipo! Or if you want sub250G, try something like 130 gram frame weight 3.5" with 1404 3600kv motors with 4S lipo. I started out with that and it's fantastic and agile!
hey, Use the correct usb cable, (some usb cables only communicate in one direction) so swap ends from drone to computer and make sure. download and install the latest betaflight version of course too. once you plug in usb it should auto connect after a few seconds.
Make sure the usb is going to the flight controller too(the board in the middle of the drone), not the silver or black box in the back of the drone haha.
Will do seem i have the correct cable , since it's get the light on when it's connected i am using a USB-C . Can i send picture with youtube ? @@PattyFlipz
How did you rotor the air unit 03 camera on sideway??? Mine is straight up straight, yours like on horizonal, but how did you do that?? I mean how can I change mine to sideway if if I need to, how do I need to do that? Cuz I don't see anywhere in air unit 03 setting in my goggle DJI V2, I don't see anywhere on setting to rotor the camera sideway. Please do lemme know, thank you and great video! 👍🏼👍🏼
Hi Sorry I am having trouble understanding. Do you mean the camera angle? There is a screw on each side of the camera mount. Just slightly loosen with a 1.5mm driver on each side and you can rotate camera up or down. Then tighten screws back.
@@PattyFlipz no no it's not that one. Have you seen other 03 system with camera is up straight, yours is sugar like horizonal, it have nothing to do with angle. It's the camera 03 itself is sideway
Or heres another one, I am using 16:9 view in the goggles to make it horizontal screen. You can change settings in the goggles. Sorry if I dont understand again. 🤣😅
On the 'Does going over 250g really matter? Will the police show up with a gram scale?' point: I doubt the police would spot check (but they'd be in their right to). The real problems start if you're in an accident and someone gets hurt, your drone becomes evidence and is taken. It then gets inspected and poof, you're no longer covered by that
Hi, oh that’s strange, usually they give more screws than that. This super light quad is really setup for efficiency so any wind I think just pushes it around a little bit. I would go up KV such as 3600-4500kv. I haven’t tried it myself but others have said it made a huge difference. You will lose a few minutes of flight time though.
Yes for sure! Good time to get one on the Flywoo website. It's 10% off right now. Please also use my affiliate links in the description below! It's totally nice and quiet, especially if you use a lighter battery, the explorer doesn't need to work as hard. Cinewhoops are usually louder because of the prop guards.
Hi Patty! Quick question... I am new to the world of building FPV! I just got my Flywoo Explorer Lr4. I plugged the battery, and I was able to pair it with my DJI Integra and DJI RC control. On the other hand, when I plug in the Explorer (without or with battery) to adjust settings with BetaFlight, nothing happens (no lights, nothing). Is there any trick to get it connected with Betaflight?
Hey welcome to the world of fpv! No lights on the flight controller right? Did you try flipping your usb cable? Sometimes they only communicate one direction.
@@PattyFlipz Yes, I did. But I'll try connecting it to a Windows computer later today; I'm currently using a Mac. This should help to isolate a possible issue with the controller.
Ok usually there should be at least some lights. Even if the fc is dead there will be lights but they won’t blink. So try different usb cables, computers, different usb port etc. good luck.
Really fantastic review and production value as well. I did a simple unboxing last week and have put up some flight footage, for the most part it's a really fantastic quad and I'm really happy with it. I had the original Explorer as well and it was great until I put it into the water 🤦🏽♂ I'm planning on putting a diversity ELRS on it. The stock DJI antenna is just too short and when out a ways the battery will block it completely. On a different frame but with O3 I lost video completely when I turned around to come back, granted I was 3 miles out, but that shouldn't happen! I'm sure my battery was completely blocking the antenna.
Thanks for the ideas! yes I am beginning to experience the same issues you are having. Good idea on dual antennas and switching to a dedicated receiver. I will do the same before sending it
Totally! Speaking of my past experience with my GePRC Cygnet 3, it had short antenna (Pagoda-II). When I was 2km out then turned back toward to me; I lost the signal (full white noise on screen). I had to quickly changed its yaw off to 45 degree so antenna could get a proper LOS toward to my goggles.
Yeah Erik, I also have noticed the battery blocks the antenna sometimes. I would like to replace it with a longer antenna, but I'm using the DJI Remote 2, and it seems like there's not an equivalent longer antenna right now since it seems like it's best that it be dual-band if using the DJI remote.
Thanks for your review - i have now bought the Explorer and been flying it for a while - but one a dive (like you said) or any time i hit speeds over 50 mph it starts to shake a lot (de-sync maybe? not sure) .. is that normal or something i can fix or even improve you think? Thanks 🤘
@@baekinflight Hi, yes that is right. Reversed Quad X style. Let me know if you need more detail, but Motor 1 and 4 should be rotating counter clock wise. Motor 2 and 3 should be rotating clock wise.
@@PattyFlipz so I believe I have configured everything correctly and I was able to arm but when I push the throttle it tries to fly but just stops a second afterwards. Can we talk on the phone if you’re available anytime?
@@baekinflight Hi you can send me a video of your problem and your email or whatsapp to info@protofpv.com I can ask a more technical friend to help you troubleshoot your issue with a few questions and solution after watching.
A great video, thanks. I subbed, too. I love that drone, and am wanting to get something as a long-range BNF, but it's somewhat marginal on the gross weight with any battery I'd wanna use. Plus, I'm looking for Walksnail. DJI equipment is obviously high-quality, but I just prefer to not to do business with them. Just a personal thing. It's probably not even worth mentioning, but I would have liked to have seen you weigh the stabilizing arms separately. Not that the same amount of weight would make much difference. Thanks again.
Hi, I'm not 100% sure, but I don't see why not. It has all the areas to solder onto, but I think it was more designed to be plug in play for digital stuff. I would probably just go with their old stack on the site here, it's probably lighter. flywoo.net/collections/quad-16x16-stack/products/c702-goku-gn405-nano-13a-stack-16-16
Hi! Thanks! The air unit connects to the flight controller board, and the flight controller is the one plugged into the battery that powers everything.
@@PattyFlipz thanks! I've seen people concerned about the current draw from the o3, so I wanted to make sure the fc could handle it. Apparently the o3 can take power directly from a 6s.
@@atoto150Ah yes, I've heard of it. Someone lost one over a lake. My takeaway is: make sure GPS Rescue is properly configured and minimum satellite locks are met before arming. Assign GPS Rescue to one of transmitter's switch. Feed lost? Hit throttle up then flip GPS Rescue switch on and pray to FPV God. Right now, many FPV pilots are blaming companies building the quads for that issue. It's too early to say what the problem is (Ie: faulty BEC? Interference? Overheat? Lemon?).
Hi! Thank you so much. If you go into the description of the video, there are links where you can buy the drone in this video. Purchasing through those links would provide me with a small commission. Thanks again and enjoy!
Very good question! It gets worse with more weight and I think pid tuning might help. Luckily now the quads lighter without onboard action cam it has less of an effect than before. I will follow up with new video with my own tune if it works out!
very nice, have fun with the quad! I'm waiting currently for mine, well for the frame at least. I'll build it myself using a different stack, also trying to shed some weight off to keep it at 250g with the 1100mah gnb battery. If you manage to improve the tune I would be interested in a video on that! cheers!
@@NickBusscher Yes. There is a battery section in the video in case you missed it. Using a 720 lihv GNB lipo (or anything lighter like 650 or 450 etc. you can fly sub250g. Basically you have 70 grams of battery to work with until you are over 250g.
If you are building one with an AU03, 1100mah gnb battery is like 90 grams, so some good or bad ideas below, no side bracers, one strap, change all m2 screws to titanium (you can find those on aliexpress) lighter antenna, 2 screw per motor instead of 3, remove the 3d prints at the end of the arms. might get you close! Maybe even remove centered aluminum stand offs but keep the screws on the frame and secure with a nut. The frame is very reinforced already so I'd think its fine. Keep us updated on your build!
Hi, I have a issue with my explorer 4 03 after Armin motor starts spinning like crazy and I have no control over throttle. Any idea what could be wrong? Thank you Kind regards
Hi, triple check your prop direction and the props are mounted correctly. Explorer o3 bnf should be props out. So blunt side of blades are all swinging in to out.
@@orim8349 Oh yes, the motors will spin and go wild without the props, but usually only after you give it a few pumps of throttle... If you want more control while testing your motors in betaflight, in motors tab, turn motors on, and drag the master slider up and down or each individual motor to test using the sliders.
@@PattyFlipz Hi, That's exactly how it's behaving after few pumps of throttle going wild 🙂 That's must by it. I will put props on and hopefully will fly with now issues. I appreciate you quick reply and your help. Thank you. Have wonderful day 👍😎
Not bad, love your Explorer videos :) Since you mentioned that you are experienced in tuning the Explorer, any chance you got your tunes available somewhere? Most interested in the analog version . Keep up the great vids :)
Hi! I'm currently working on it. I will provide an update on the channel in the form of the video when I'm ready. I've been learning it's quite difficult to make it perfect, but hopefully can share some ideas with everyone soon!.
Thanks for this video, looks pretty good! How do you find the drone in general? How does it handle the wind, and have you tried in buildings how is the signal?
Hi, you're welcome. It shakes a bit in windy conditions because it is so light, but it's a fighter. It can still make it home on the windiest of days, but your footage would need stabilization editing like gyroflow. I haven't flown this in buildings much because of the props, easy to knick the wall or somebody etc. I would use my cinewhoop with the prop guards for indoor purposes, but signal should be great inside buildings too regardless of drone style as long as it has a Caddx vista / O3 AU. Can penetrate fully wood buildings no problem, and as for concrete, a few layers of walls before it gets sketchy.
Hi, no this drone will not fly with a mini 3 pro RC controller, but with the correct version, it can be flown with the Dji controller 2. I believe I am an intermediate / advanced flier. Unfortunately Flywoo does not have a drone with obstacle avoidance. I also do not know of any fpv drones with obstacle avoidance. Did you know, just recently, if you can get Dji goggles 2 or Dji integra goggles, and the Dji RC motion 2, you can use it with your Dji Mini 3 Pro and fly it similar to an avata? (but without doing all the flips and stuff). Cheers.
You said your not a novice in the video ' ,myself a novice i made a mistake !!!!!oh by the way thanks for the reply and the advice esp the RC motion 2 that could prove advantageous ....
Yes give it a try! The downside is the motion controller will only work for mini 3 pro/avata. It won’t work with flywoo fpv drone or any other custom fpv drone with o3 air unit system.
Very good review! The Flywoo LR4 drone is outstanding. I use similar 18650 diy pack and fly for 25min+ which is just unbelievable! Did you think the O3 camera will fit on the older versions of the drone with Vista Air unit, af course with the new printed mount for the O3?
@@sensivityable I did a 11km round trip once and still had "fuel in the gas tank" so to speak using the Flywoo 3000mah battery. I would say going average cruising speed 50kmh to 80kmh you can expect 20-25 min of total flight, but Range or how far can you go? Its a whole different thing as it totally depends on the sum of parts you are using. Drone doesn't really struggle as long as you fly normally and cruise. With the o3 au version you can fly better now as in before you had to probably carry an naked action cam too. Not anymore!
Just dunked my Avata into a lake as it lost connection with my Rc 😢, so not buying another avata, this will be my first drone away from an all in one dji, could you please tell how do I charge the batteries if I buy this drone? Do I need battery charger kit or somthing? Liked and subbed 😊
Oh sorry to hear that! You need a lipo charger, something like this one. www.amazon.ca/Charger-Discharger-Balance-Battery-Chargers/dp/B07P3ZRTMY/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=2DWGL8V73OOO3&keywords=lipo+charger&qid=1682906776&sprefix=lipo+charge%2Caps%2C148&sr=8-1-spons&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.b06bdbbe-20fd-4ebc-88cf-fa04f1ca0da8&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFON1JDS1RXQlNTTkwmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA5MDM4NzMxNjZZNDFUS0dKN005JmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAyNTYzNTExTko5VVg5RlczN1RDJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== It's a bit complicated to write everything, but I will give you an idea. You'd always have to plug in both the plug (yellow one) and balance plug (white one) and make sure you choose the right settings. For example typically if you purchase a 4S Lipo battery, For example, 850mah, choose balance charge: 4S: LIPO, 0.8A, (so if you have a bigger battery, like 1300mah, I would use 1.3A, hope you see the pattern here, don't use too much higher will damage battery) and press start on the charger. Say you got a 6S 4000mah battery for your super quad. You would use settings like 6S, Lipo, 4.0A etc. It will automatically stop when it's full, but you need to be close by. If you choose something wrong, something bad can happen, like a fire!! so do tons of research, theres lots of articles online on the correct settings to use and to learn how to take care of your battery. Keep a extinguisher near by and charge on top of a non-flammable surface (like baking tray) or you can use Lipo fire protective bags as well. I also store my Lipo batteries in an AMMO can when not in use. All these things can be purchased at Amazon etc. Another thing, you cannot drain Lipos to 0% (Like Fly until out of batteries) you will damage them. I usually fly until battery level is 40% and then unplug. If your lipo is FULL and you don't plan to fly anymore all of a sudden (like started raining like mad), Make sure to always put your lipo back to storage level (40% - 60%) using the battery charger after not being in use for 1-2 days. Yes but Flywoo screwed me and i lost 500 Bucks so i will never buy there again. Maybe a warning for everyone out there as well. If your Package gets lost they are a not willing to investigate or refund and then they ignore every contact.
Sorry to hear that. Seems like a tricky situation. They shipped it but sounds like the carrier lost it. I wonder if your credit card company has insurance to help you cover that? Or if you paid by PayPal you can ask them?
@@PattyFlipz Yeah i tried but they needed Flywoo to ask the carrier to start an Investigation. But without that no insurance of any kind. And Flywoo just refused to do that. Would have cost them nothing and is their job to do. They just didnt care that i lost 500 Dollar.
Lol, what did DJI do to you? I think analog is the way to go for LR. Watching others go such amazing distances makes me Jealous. Maybe someday I will build one. Would love to go 8 - 14km :) But for professional work, DJI is not Guano.
@@PattyFlipz that worked perfectly.. thanks so much. The only thing now is my receiver won't recognize in. betaflight, it connects the quad, but I can't adjust my throttle, roll, pitch....all of the colorful things that typically move. I re-updated my ELRS... It's definitely connected to the quad, because I have a C on the zorro controller 🎮..
@@PattyFlipz thanks again Patty! I sent a video of my issue to the email you listed. What's strange is it all worked perfectly before. The receiver is definitely connected to the quad. But while in betaflight, the controller isn't responding. It won't allow me to setup my modes so I can actually arm the quad and setup switches. SMDH....😒. This all happened because I accidentally hit the reset button in setup....why, I have no idea... But thanks again.

Yeah for sure! 100%!!
@@PattyFlipz I hit the reset button in beta flight. And it looks like I wiped everything. Is there a way to get this thing back to normal?....smdh

Do you have a full video how to set it up in beta flight?
XD
Just ordered mine. Not as fancy as yours just got the analog but I'm pretty excited still. How would i go about removing that wire though
If you chose a receiver to match your remote transmitter controller from the website, you should be good! that wire would/should be plugged into your choice of nano receiver such as Crossfire, ELRS, or FRSKY etc. If you chose PNP, you'll need to solder it.
@@PattyFlipz I bought the ELRS already installed so is that wire useless to me?
@@cold-frontin_penguin7902 Ah (I think) it won't have that wire. Its only if you choose PNP model. (I think)

Mine will be here Tuesday. Bought the Lion batteries also. Been flying the Rekon 5 so this one should be a good match. Looking forward to the O3 upgrade.
For sure! It's a good one. It will take a tiny little less space in the bag XD
Nice review 👍🏻
can you use fast discharge battery. small one. and leth ion to charge it. so the drone have power and flight time ?
Hi sorry I am not sure!
Nice. I wonder if the "scrollwheel" on the dji remote 2 works with betaflight?
Hmm good question! Not sure!
@@PattyFlipz as far as i have found out, it does not. But I would really like to know..
hey, i recommend you turn of EIS stabilization and film wide, so you can use gyroflow for post stabilization and lens correction
Yes thanks! I actually demonstrated that at the end of the video.
Quite a comprehensive review of the Flywoo Explorer LR 4 O3 Sub250 FPV Drone. The drone appears to be a suitable alternative to the DJI Avata.
Right on! Perfect entry to get into custom fpv drones, and not restricted by geo fencing and sub250g with certain battery configurations! Plus they already have goggles 2 and controller!
@@PattyFlipz Long range is a science and it's actually not a good entry for people new to DIY quads.
A cinewhoop is the alternative to the Avata. This is entirely designed for cruising. Won't be nearly as stable as a cinewhoop.
how would this hold up in high winds and mountain areas? hows the diving with gyroflow still shaky?
in high winds. It’s very shaky. Very difficult for gyroflow to correct it.
Great review, nice drone bro 👍
Thank you bro!
He talks about this issue many months ago.
is this a good setup for a green newby flyer, coming from a mavic
You need the flywoo 3000mah lion battery to get 25min flight times.
@@PattyFlipz oh there is no way to fly this drone without fpv goggles in the same way as a dji mini 3 pro? I dont like goggles
Oh you still need the DJI goggles 2 but just connect it to an external monitor and you can try flying it that way.
Hi, I'm planning on getting this drone. Don´t you know whether the motors with 9x9 m2 screw base can be mounted on this frame? Thank you.
Hi it is 12x12 and m2 screw.
excellent review sir! were you able to check if flywoo soldered the copper sheet shielding to the FC ground terminal? does. the stock M10 module have a quick 3D fix from a cold start?
Hi Danny, no I don’t have anymore updates on the explorer. I’ve moved on since, either lost all of them or dismantled it for the o3 air unit.
Thanks a lof for vid! It is great stuff! Is there any software that the drone can fly in front of the user or around automatically?
Hi sorry I don’t know, but with inav you can do a reliable altitude hold, or with wings I think they just fly around in circles until you are ready to take control again. In betaflight you hit gps rth it will fly home and land with versions after 4.4. That’s all I know of so far. Cheers
@@PattyFlipz thanks bro for your reply. Yes, it is probably too complicated soft that needed more like AI 😊The idea is that drone should just follow you and make video along the way. Anyway, some more ideas for devs to try. All the best in your hobby!
They use M2 screws with flat head since the round head has to use 1.3 wrench, which is not common as 1.5.
why there is not a dual camera fpv drone. for true vr experience
Thanks man!! I’ll give it a shot!
Hi, what kind of range do you get with goggles v2? And is the goggles with stock antenna?
@@PattyFlipz will test it one of these days. 😁

I put it inside for now on top of the tray inside above the fc. I may switch over to crossfire soon and my tango (like all my other drones) Seems like everyone is telling me to. Haha.
is it possible to use a tango II pro with the O3 version?
No it won't work by itself. You need the TBS nano rx receiver and Immortal T antenna. if you purchase from Flywoo website, make sure you select crossfire option and then the drone will work with the tango II pro. They would preinstall the TBS nano rx receiver and immortal T antenna then you bind through your remote and betaflight. Cheers.

How did you solve the problem with jelly on the video? I have low vibration at the edges of the horizon on the sides of the video..
are you using ultra wide and rock steady? Sometimes it catches the props and rocksteady does strange things to the footage.
Great video thanks for all the detail. Did you disable the throttle centering spring on your dji controller?
Hi! Yes it is a must do for Acro mode especially 👍
@@PattyFlipz Do you mind if I ask how stabilized mode on this drone feels compared to an Avata? This will be my first non-DJI quad.
Great video! I'd love one
Its a good one!
how much flight time do you get with that setup?
With 1100mah battery around 7-9 minutes. With a 3000mah Lion battery 20-25 minutes!
If the large battery screws are a concern for you just replace them with some panhead screws.
Will do Thanks for your comment!
Thinking about to get this drone, i have one question. What is the top-speed of this drone?
Hi I never tried but I can easily cruise at 80km/h. At full throttle I’m not too sure as I rarely do that with this drone. but it can most likely hit 100-120kph or more very easily.
@@PattyFlipz thank you for this fast info ❤️
One last question: which version do you got (BNF-dji; elrs 2.4g; TBS Nano RX; FRSKY R - XSR). And do you know the difference except the price?
Hi these are radio transmitter protocols. Bnf DJI works with DJI controller 2. Tbs nano rx works with tango 2 transmitter or mambo and any transmitter with crossfire protocol installed. Etc. I personally use tbs cross fire products. Very easy to use and long range.
Wie ist der Quad zum freestylen? Ich bin durch die Avata etwas angefixt und möchte mehr freestylen leider ist das mit der Avata nicht so gut möglich.

Ohh you are talking about. Propellers in view right?
Or heres another one, I am using 16:9 view in the goggles to make it horizontal screen. You can change settings in the goggles. Sorry if I dont understand again. 🤣😅
On the 'Does going over 250g really matter? Will the police show up with a gram scale?' point: I doubt the police would spot check (but they'd be in their right to). The real problems start if you're in an accident and someone gets hurt, your drone becomes evidence and is taken. It then gets inspected and poof, you're no longer covered by that
I'm wondering when they gonna create a DJI Avata's battery connection for diy drones. It should be much safer to recharge 🤞🏽🙏
For sure! The only pro I can think of for traditional lipos is they are lighter as they are just kinda wrapped in thin films of plastic etc.
Unnecessary.
I can not argue people against safety technology evolution. 🤓
True! Safety is very important.
The bag full of M2 x 7.. my frame only came with 2 of those screws?? Trying to get these arm bracers on to help with wind... frustrating, advice?
ruclips.net/video/CY00zVeJaik/видео.html
Hi, oh that’s strange, usually they give more screws than that. This super light quad is really setup for efficiency so any wind I think just pushes it around a little bit. I would go up KV such as 3600-4500kv. I haven’t tried it myself but others have said it made a huge difference. You will lose a few minutes of flight time though.
with my Explorer 4 O3 the key to less vibrations in footage when flying normally seems to be 96 PWM flashed to ESC's😊
awesome!
Man that thing is so quiet compared to the Avata. I might have to get one just to not draw so much attention to me while I'm flying.

So try different usb cables, computers, different usb port etc. good luck.
@@PattyFlipz turned out to be the firewall on the Mac that was blocking the communication to Betaflight! Sucks!
If you go diversity you're already going to two antennas, so it wouldn't be an "also".
That's what diversity is.
@@dangerous8333 yeah I know, I just typed poorly, thanks for pointing it out.
Amazing video
Thanks for your review - i have now bought the Explorer and been flying it for a while - but one a dive (like you said) or any time i hit speeds over 50 mph it starts to shake a lot (de-sync maybe? not sure) .. is that normal or something i can fix or even improve you think? Thanks 🤘
I wanted this but ended up going for the Iflight IH3
nice! Thats a good one!
Thank you for this!

@@PattyFlipz Having trouble understanding the prop direction. Are your motors in Betaflight rerversed QUAD X style?
@@baekinflight Hi, yes that is right. Reversed Quad X style. Let me know if you need more detail, but Motor 1 and 4 should be rotating counter clock wise. Motor 2 and 3 should be rotating clock wise.
@@PattyFlipz so I believe I have configured everything correctly and I was able to arm but when I push the throttle it tries to fly but just stops a second afterwards. Can we talk on the phone if you’re available anytime?
@@baekinflight Hi you can send me a video of your problem and your email or whatsapp to info@protofpv.com I can ask a more technical friend to help you troubleshoot your issue with a few questions and solution after watching.
why is your goggle only 810p 60fps?, it can do 1080p 100fps right?
I think in this video I was using the goggles v2. Which is an older model.
Really great and detailed video! Thanks a lot! It would be awesome if you could also share your tune. Thank you!
Will do!
Great idea. I think the stabilizer arms are probably around 4g each.
If i use this FC , can i still use my analog vtx on it ?
Hi, I'm not 100% sure, but I don't see why not. It has all the areas to solder onto, but I think it was more designed to be plug in play for digital stuff. I would probably just go with their old stack on the site here, it's probably lighter. flywoo.net/collections/quad-16x16-stack/products/c702-goku-gn405-nano-13a-stack-16-16
@@PattyFlipz thankyou
Great video! Does the air unit connect directly to the battery or is it through another board?
Hi!
Overheat? Lemon?).
ahh Thats really good info!! Thanks for pointing this out.
Great video. Do you by any chance sell the products you have reviewed. If yes, I’m willing to buy
Hi! Thank you so much. If you go into the description of the video, there are links where you can buy the drone in this video. Purchasing through those links would provide me with a small commission. Thanks again and enjoy!
Does the poor diving have anything to do with pid tuning?
Very good question! It gets worse with more weight and I think pid tuning might help. Luckily now the quads lighter without onboard action cam it has less of an effect than before. I will follow up with new video with my own tune if it works out!
This quad isn't for diving.
It's for long range cruising.
@@PattyFlipz The Explorer is not for diving. 🤷
@@dangerous8333 if it can do flips and rolls I don’t see any problem why it can’t dive with the right pid tuning
@@PattyFlipz following your update
very nice, have fun with the quad! I'm waiting currently for mine, well for the frame at least. I'll build it myself using a different stack, also trying to shed some weight off to keep it at 250g with the 1100mah gnb battery.
If you manage to improve the tune I would be interested in a video on that!
cheers!
Great to hear! Yes for sure if I can tune it well I will share the results!
Is it possible to keep it below 250gr with the side braces? I guess not based on the video
@@PattyFlipz thanks for the tips!!
Hi, I have a issue with my explorer 4 03 after Armin motor starts spinning like crazy and I have no control over throttle. Any idea what could be wrong?
Thank you
Kind regards
Hi, triple check your prop direction and the props are mounted correctly. Explorer o3 bnf should be props out. So blunt side of blades are all swinging in to out.
@@PattyFlipz Thank you, for your quick reply 👍
I didn't put props on just tested without props on. Do you think that could be reason?
Thanks
@@orim8349 Oh yes, the motors will spin and go wild without the props, but usually only after you give it a few pumps of throttle... If you want more control while testing your motors in betaflight, in motors tab, turn motors on, and drag the master slider up and down or each individual motor to test using the sliders.
@@PattyFlipz Hi, That's exactly how it's behaving after few pumps of throttle going wild 🙂 That's must by it. I will put props on and hopefully will fly with now issues.
I appreciate you quick reply and your help. Thank you.

@@orim8349 You too man! Enjoy your flight!
@@PattyFlipz Sounds great! Best of luck :)
Very good job! I will recommend you the tbs tango 2 instead of the DJI radio; I have both radios and the tbs it’s superior!
sounds good! I have both as well. I most likely will switch it 100%!!
Zorro is now recommended over the Tango 2, amd it's cheaper.
will this drone fly with the dji mini 3 pro RC Are you a novice flyer do you know if fly woo have a drone that has obstacle avoidance
Hello! I never tried it, but it seems like others have commented that they made it work!
Does the drone struggle to carry this battery? How far away you can fly with 18650?
@@sensivityable I did a 11km round trip once and still had "fuel in the gas tank" so to speak using the Flywoo 3000mah battery. I would say going average cruising speed 50kmh to 80kmh you can expect 20-25 min of total flight, but Range or how far can you go? Its a whole different thing as it totally depends on the sum of parts you are using. Drone doesn't really struggle as long as you fly normally and cruise. With the o3 au version you can fly better now as in before you had to probably carry an naked action cam too. Not anymore!
@@PattyFlipz Thanks, would it be possible to climb a 1km mountain and go back on the battery? I’m worried about motors overheating
@@sensivityable It is on the heavy side, but it carries is fine. Just is less responsive and have greater inertia so you have to ne careful

You need a lipo charger, something like this one. www.amazon.ca/Charger-Discharger-Balance-Battery-Chargers/dp/B07P3ZRTMY/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=2DWGL8V73OOO3&keywords=lipo+charger&qid=1682906776&sprefix=lipo+charge%2Caps%2C148&sr=8-1-spons&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.b06bdbbe-20fd-4ebc-88cf-fa04f1ca0da8&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFON1JDS1RXQlNTTkwmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA5MDM4NzMxNjZZNDFUS0dKN005JmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAyNTYzNTExTko5VVg5RlczN1RDJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==
It's a bit complicated to write everything, but I will give you an idea.
Print the chart and keep it beside your charger! hobbygraderc.com/lipo-voltage-chart/
Good luck bud!!
