Great video. Torque is described as foot-pounds or pound-feet. Pounds-feet is double-plural, which on a math basis is quadratic or "squared". This is a great vehicle, in any form. I visited Japan in Fall 2002, and couldn't get a factory tour of the Nissan plant because it was "top secret" in retooling for the then-new 350Z and Infiniti models. The G35 was the talk of the town at autoshows in 2003.
The oringinal FX was and still is (IMHO) ICONIC. The design was unlike anything anyone had ever seen, especially the FX45 with the larger wheels. I'd still take one in the press Sunburst orange color. Dope content per normal bro! Keep it up!
Ive owned my 2nd gen FX for about 20 months now, its been treating me great. in terms of parts, since it shares a similar engine to the g37, its not difficult to get parts for. Ive only had to do 2 oil changes now and thats pretty much it (the previous maintained it really well so i got lucky). Nothing out of the ordinary went wrong besides the sunroof drain issue (the g35/37s had this issue as well, the way the sunroof drain was designed is just dumb so if you havent had this issue yet. spoiler alert, you will) Maybe the FX isnt as luxurious as a benz, bmw, or a range rover. But in terms of maintenance I would much rather have a 100k mile infiniti rather than a benz, bmw, or range rover. I would say the cons are the transmission and trunk space, but the pros, its stylish, its easy to maintain, and will last you a long time without destroying your wallet.
My 2003 FX45 was still turning heads at gas stations-which it visited frequently-19 years later. I am still kicking myself for selling it) Loved that car and the big V8!
I had no idea it had a V8 before, thought it was only a V6. Infinits timing couldn't have been worse. Back then when nobody cared about "sporty" SUVs, but wanted utility. Today everybody is building ridiculous performance SUVs, Infiniti has only 4 cylinder left...
Like Kevin said, the V8 is hard to find but man are they fun! It's quicker than my SRT8 Jeep with a rare look. Infiniti got away from performance too soon
I’ve owned a 2003 FX45 with 150k and ran amazing. Had a 2017 QX70 with 55k, super solid. 2010 EX35, super fun but too small for me. Now I have a 2011 FX50s with 135k. It is such a Beast! Just bought the whole oem aero kit. Sitting on GTR wheels and just swapped the front end to a 2017 QX70 with the mesh grille. Has some rocker panel and door damage that was repaired poorly that I’m getting fixed. It was worth saving this Gem. So far I have replaced the fan control modules, power steering hose ($1,200 just the hose) getting a full brake job and tuneup next.
2003 FX45 here with 180k+ miles, I love it! She's starting to fall apart with the seats and the paint is faded from Texas sunshine. As for storage, I usually haul 15 cases or more of the 40 count Ozarka water for work on weekends all the time with no problems. The gas miles could be better, but it's a V8 and it's still smooth and handles well.
I think I know which one you looked at it's up here in Medford Oregon. Going for 17,000. I was at the LA auto show back in 03 when this vehicle was on display a burnt orange 🍊 in color. 20 years old back then. 20 years messing with Lincoln Mark 7 & 8 I do believe I'm ready for one now. Good information given about everything .
I own a '05 45, bought it five years ago for $4k. Engine and transmission has really needed nothing. However, the cats were toast and integrated with the exhaust manifold and the entire exhaust was rotten. Full replacement cost $3100. Nonetheless, I love this old car and really don't want to drive anything else.
One of my favorite SUVs for what it is. I would cop one in a heartbeat. I really don't need the V8 but its worth the money. I test drove a straight piped V8 FX50, it was MUCH quicker than my '10 SRT8 Jeep. That Infiniti sounded amazing too. I see the new GV70 as an evolution of the FX/QX.
@@MeynMotorGroup yeah, my shortlist for a daily is Tacoma, FX/QX, TSX Wagon. I want something all weather, FUN, cargo capacity, and dependable enough for trips to NC
Yea that’s def a great list, Taco will be great to pile Miles on and not really loose value. FX would be a ton of fun to drive and would love to experience a V8 model 😅
For the money on a good used example today, you cannot go wrong. Most of the other Crossovers today cannot compare until you get to Porsche territory. High HP combined with utility and rwd bias cannot be duplicated.
I have a 2003 fx45 my daily driver as we speak. I bought it 2 years ago with 90k miles on it for 8k garage kept clean, what a steal.. I love it and still turns heads, but you do have to watch oil consumption
Hey from Abu Dhabi, love your videos. You missed one important option, the Vettel Edition. Only 100 ever made, V8, pushing a little over 415HP. I've had it for the past 3 years. It's an absolute dream, no issues whatsoever! Also, this market had the V8 option until a couple years ago, it's called the QX70S.
Ah yes you are right my friend, the Vettel edition was a model we never got in the States but I should have mentioned it. The Vettel edition is what I used for the thumbnail 😅 Glad to hear your FX has held up great for you! Thank you again for stopping by and supporting!
I have a 2004 FX45 with 120k and 2010 FX50 with 85k. Both in mint condition, zero problems, just basic maintenance like oil changes and brakes. The two cars still feel tight and no rattles anywhere. Made in Japan and part of their glory years!
Great video ! You said pretty much everything was to be said. I own a 2006 V6 and a 2007 V8 right now. Great cars. Your usual parts are not hard to find. Very cheap to do your usual annual maintenance ! Unfortunately I can’t keep both. I am selling my fx 35.
Great video! I think one thing you forgot to mention is the FM platform was also used for the 350Z and 370Z cars. I had an early FX45 as a press car for a few months and it was fantastic. Thanks for making this vid!
Ah yes you’re correct my friend, the Z cars def used the FM platform. This SUV sitting on the FM platform certainly set the tone for its sporting intentions. Super happy you got to test a V8 powered FX!
FX v8 rear wheel drive sleeper ,the new one is front wheel drive just a name the lil EX was rear wheel also than the redesign front wheel drive didn't sale well

Dollar for dollar, this was the best SUV on the market.
I own a 2011 fx35. I love it. It's difficult to find any content like this video online about the car. Thanks for your upload, I learned alot!

Thought the same.
Yea the Euro companies took over the performance segment afterwards
Like Kevin said, the V8 is hard to find but man are they fun! It's quicker than my SRT8 Jeep with a rare look. Infiniti got away from performance too soon
Yea my friend they would have done a good job competing with some of the Lexus F cars etc

2009 FX50: Alternator went out at 130K.
Adjustable steering went out at 110K.
Electric Fan module went out at 136K.
Still hauls azz though!😁👍
Oh sorry to hear that glad you are still enjoying your V8 FX50!
Power steering hose went out $1,200 just the hose and yeah my fan modules went out(stuck in “ON”. Just replaced lol
I own an amazing 2015 qx70 s v8 with 70k on it.
It is a real beast with bursting power.
It is hard to find here in ISRAEL.

Dude thanks for going in depth on this, Its important to have deep dives on info like this readily available.
I ran a brand new M4 on the freeway last weekend and he couldn’t pass me. These FX50’s impress me

Ahead of its time... Fuck. Infiniti had so much potential like with the unreleased BMW M3 and CTSV killing Q50
