I absolutely love watching the Soul Train line dancers! Their energy and enthusiasm are contagious, and they always bring a smile to my face. It's amazing to see how they move in perfect sync with the music, showcasing their incredible talent and creativity. The way they incorporate different dance styles into the Soul Train line is simply mesmerizing. They truly embody the spirit of the show and the joy of dance. I am truly grateful for your uplifting gift of this amazing video. It has made my day much brighter!
Rip Don . You enspired so many youths in the days you walked this earth . Truly a man amongst men . This 60 yr was lucky to grow up under such an icon as this man . Oh yeah I'm white dude btw.. Iconic show . We all were blessed in this time.. No internet . No 500 stations on the tube .. No cell phones and we did just fine .. Saturday morning was a day I looked for so I could tune in to this show of shows . Great in every way
Salute to my 1970s neighbors and classmates! The show selected the dancers from local kids in L.A. RIP Mavericks Flat nightclub on Crenshaw Blvd. where we all partied together!
I'm soooo lucky to have grown up in a household like mine. I'm 30 now but are home was just like this. Pop was a BoogyBoy/FunkMaster and my mom was a Disco Queen. Hell of a good time. Wish the world today was this much fun still. Well at least in mine it still is lol
You did well. The fun was looking for myself and friends, and flashing on the years and guests. It's just fun and I thank you for sharing your version. Love, Peace and Sooooul :-)
FU#$IN AWESOME 😎. SOUL TRAIN was the time when my Mother and I would watch and dance together even though I have 2 left feet. When I watch SOUL TRAIN I think of my Mother with a SMILE 😊. REST IN PEACE 🙏 MOMMA, LOVE AND MISS YOU, Little Ronnie
The fast edits do create a sense of pace and action but it would be nice to have longer cuts in there so you could really watch some more of a couple's routine. I still enjoyed the vid though. Cheers for posting
Yo, I absoulutly love this. Soul train was the numbner one distractor of Saturday afternoon activity. These dancers were roll models in the 70's. Hats off the Don! He created this Soul Train and his ideal was a winner. This show classic show was very important for the black people at the time. There needs to be as show like this for today's young people so they will understand the impact of recording the music and dance of their time. The dances and dress look old now they were hot before.
Matter of fact this is the best music video remix on the soul train line dancers on youtube... all the other videos on here just give you the actual music and dancers footage from a particular show ---BORING!!!!!... jerette09 runs 5 complete selected tracks of music over his punctuated with the motion of the dancers from multiple shows in sync
My dad, brother and I all worked at the family business which closed at noon, Saturday. We would all gather to eat lunch and watch Soul Train. RIP Don C. We miss you.
a fantastic tribute...I'm an editor too and ...there should be no boundaries....do what you love....you picked some of the baddest ass moves ... way kool.
Nice memory for Mr. Don Cornelius. I loved the way he talked and blended in with the kids and entertainers. He was one "cool cat." Sorry about his untimely death. Iris
bilnext is right guy... jerette09 creates a unique reality for these dancers... See get this guy...the snippets of motion from dancers sync with the rhythm of the music .. This video is very innovative
Thanks, Jerette for sharing. Was this show out of Chicago? Hard to believe that these great dancers are in their 50;s and 60's just like me. Oh, my poor back . . . Back in the day I was a pretty dancer in the D.C. area. Iris
00:53 Patricia Davis (the one who taught MJ some "robot" techniques) & Rerun (from "What's Happening!!") 01:36 WTF? Lol 02:03 Sharon Hill Wood (with her ever present "black Crissy growing hair doll" smile) & Tyronne "Da Bone" Proctor (inventor of "whacking") 03:50 Jody Watley (ex-member of "Shalamar" and 80's solo singer) & Jeffrey Daniel (also ex-member of "Shalamar" and the one who taught MJ how to do The Backslide, the "Moonwalk") Ect., ect. Not bad for a Flamenco bailaor Spaniard, huh? lol
I'm not even Black but I loved Soul Train as a Little Boy just as much as any Black Man(Or Woman), if not more. I always turned it on Every Saturday Afternoon. I always looked at it as the Black Version of American Bandstand, since Dick Clark was so very popular. Soul Train always came on after American Bandstand on KHJ Channel 9 - Los Angeles. And later that night, it's "The Real Don Steele" playing more of this Funky Beat.
i miss this show..i grew up in the suberbs of detroit watching..as a white kid who loved motown..i got alot of my moves for friday night roller skating from soultrain..and my love for hotass black girls..just being honest...
Like this vid. I grew up on hardcore funk, jazz, Jimi Hendrix funk,Latina funk. This vid, is Hardcore funk. Bass guitar was put up front with congas and percussion; with the front door kicked in.
At 0:37 or 0:38 young man in brown tank top, I swear its the actor that played the youngest son on Good Times, I have replayed this and replayed this and , I am not seeing things, its him, plays J.J.'s little brother Michael on the show. Can anyone one else see it, or am I Kra Kra.. Anyway I love locking and popping and noticed how many dancers from Soul Train were influenced by Don Campbell, and the Electric Boogaloos. I know everyone of The Lockers danced on the Train before they became the group except for Toni Basil, and I see everyone both guys and ladies all doing Locking moves and later on they were putting popping into their dancing, but that how much these dances took hold of the crowd. Today these dances are all over the world..being done by dancers young and old. Its crazy how much these dances mean in other Countries, its almost like they were conceived everywhere else but the USA. BUT ,No they are ours . I was in Japan, and Paris on vacations over the years, and the levels of Locking and Popping in those Countries are ridiculous, even little kids can Lock and Pop. But Tony "GoGo" Lewis from second grouping of the Lockers opened up a Locking School in Japan I believe in 1982 when he moved there, he is the father to the famous GoGo Brothers(sons), his daughter dances also, as GoGo Family. Also after he learned locking, he got a group together and was the first group to perform professionally for the public before the Lockers got together. But it still started with Don Campbell and done on Soul Train by individuals and around different clubs as everyone was learning, but when Toni Basil got interested in this new dance, with her experience in that platform of entertainment. She convinced Don to start his own group... and it was she who clued Don Cornelius into how important this dance was and that with The Lockers put together, he should pay them, and that was the last day for Don Campbell on Soul Train, her was not allowed on the lot. Later tho I guess the dance became too big and Mr. Cornelius asked The Lockers back on the show to perform. At least thats the way I was told by some people who had been around at that time that it went down. So it was Toni Basil, not Don Campbell who saw the importance and popularity of this dance he created and because of her knowledge and experience in the field of Dance and Entertainment knew that this group deserved to be recognized and paid, but Mr. Cornelius was a stubborn man. And as they say the rest is history....Or so its been told to me, I kind of believe it tho...
The cuts create their own rhythm.. come on now get with it.. watch the video again and see what I mean...How much time do you think I would have had to show you the complete dance for each dancer
Bahahaha! Editor sure! Anyway I feel the cuts are actually well done. It's not a showcase of what the dancers of doing but of the line dancing itself. You're focusing too much on what you want to see instead of seeing what you are shown! I'm an editor too, numerous AMV's and an actual video when I was in high school. All set to music.
Y'all tripping. Edits on point, great job turning the clock back and with audio too. Glad the buffoons at Google/RUclips DIDN'T MUTE IT and still get paid for it thru the AmazonMP3 link. Hypocritical a**holes.
This is when people dressed so you knew when they were going out or to the club. And no one hugged the wall whether you were a great dancer or not you were out there enjoying yourself. And people were more of individuals when they dressed and or made their own clothes that was the sewing generation if you did not sew you knew someone who did to make you an outfit. Almost everything today is a bodycon dress so everyone looks the same.
tracks: Michael Jackson - Dancing Machine (Single Version) Aretha Franklin - Rock Steady Kool & the Gang - Jungle Boogie James Brown - Papa Don't Take No Mess Kool and the Gang - Hollywood Swinging
A wonderful tribute to a true legend. Soul Train remains the only time when television was truly cool. Well done, Mr. Cornelius.
