  • After purchasing this chipper shredder for $30 dollars on Facebook Market, I started with the lowest cost repairs through more expensive fixes until I completed restoration.
    This video also shows some of the challenges I had on its first real test of chipping and shredding.

    My pull spring broke on mine and now I start it with a socket and my 20V dewalt drill. I’m kinda glad it broke lol. Chipper works but it’s time consuming and picky on branches. Anything larger than an inch and it takes forever. Unless you need the chips I’d just burn it.

    You gotta oil the air filter on these machines. You can find the operator manual online.

      @@PlanItSendIt I have a 3hp 080202 off a chipper I’m considering giving to a good home. I want to upgrade to a 5hp chain drive. Looks like it was running recently, picked up for scrap off someone who purchased a house and it came with it. Needs a new rewind spring and screw to hold carb on as far as I can tell send me a email at ghilliesiut1994@gmail.com

    Could you please give me the part number of the carburetor I am looking to fix mine but the information has been deleted

    • @PlanItSendIt
      @PlanItSendIt  2 года назад +1

      The original part number was 492611 for the whole carburetor assembly. When I purchased mine, it had a different part number but said something like... "fits the following also..." Good luck!

    Thank you for sharing your vid. By an chance do you happen to have a close up picture of your carb? I bought a knockoff carb from Amazon and the machine isn’t running well, it sounds like it’s starving for fuel but spark plugs indicates it’s running very rich. Also where did you get your gaskets from? And new carb? Thank you

    • @PlanItSendIt
      @PlanItSendIt  3 года назад

      Yeah, I came across a few of those too. When I looked mine up, I saw that a new model was the replacement for the original. Wish I had the website for you. There were some differences, but as you saw it worked. The gasket came with my new carb. Good luck!

    Looking at one of these on Marketplace also. How much was a replacement carb? Does the 5 HP seem to have plenty of power? What size limbs are recommended max size? Thanks

    • @PlanItSendIt
      @PlanItSendIt  3 года назад

      When looking for the carp, you're going to see a lot of different prices that had me asking... "why is this one so expensive compared to the others and vice versa?". I got mine for around $30. It advertises up to 3 inches, but when going that big, I have to put some in until the engine starts to wind down, then I pull the branch out until the engine gains speed again. If you're getting a bargain price, they do good. My only complaint is the shoot tends to fill up so that why you saw me pulling stuff out the side and left the guard off so I had easy access to remove debris when it starts to clog up. Hope this helps. Thank you.

    How did you use the lapping compound on the valves and seats

    • @PlanItSendIt
      @PlanItSendIt  2 года назад +1

      I laid down the compound and used a stick with a suction cup. Once I could see a consistent ring along the valve and opening, I stopped.

    Could send a picture or talk about how the inside of the discharge area looks? I can’t figure which way the metal “flapper” inside is supposed to go ( the one that the large thru-pin fits through )

      Sorry for the delayed response. It hasn't been running well so I haven't messed with it in a bit, but I'll have to pull it out and take a look sometime this week and get back to you.

    haveing lived with the same model fof what seemed a eternity there are tricks learned over time.the blades inside the housing need to be sharp. equally important inside the hoiusing arer flails that is the fingers that swing out to throw the brush out the shoot need to swing. over time they become stuck. so remove the housing and free up the flails or fingers. this will need to be a seasonal maintnance item. i gave mine to a unsupecting frenchman beacause his wife thought what a deal its free..
