Nice save! I know that feeling. It's hard to stay calm and focus when you lose connection unexpectedly. It's easy to make a mistake in that moment so well done. If I understand correctly you have a switch that goes from air mode to angle mode to rescue mode, or maybe two different switches? What I do is use a three position switch. pos 1 nothing, pos 2 and 3 are angle mode (auto level) and pos 3 is also gps rescue. So when you switch out of gps rescue/auto level it goes in to only auto level. Then one more position to get back to neither turned on. This might help with the tumble situation if you don't already have it setup this way. (i just posted a video quickly going over my betaflight settings. I cover this switch setup in that video. Its got chapters so you can just click ahead to the modes section.)
Hi. Thanks for watching and the suggestions. This LR FPV stuff is a never ending learning curve. Now only if weather in the PNW would cooperate so we can fly more...
Exactly this. RESC off, ACRO on (as per OSD that says "AIR"), sticks flicking - so It was doing as pilot commanded. Check your BB / OpenTX log and you'll see ;)
Agree. A lot of switch position changes and perhaps unintentional stick movement around the failsafe. Quickly going into and out of an assisted flight modes like GPS Rescue, ANGL or HOR can mess with the quad’s orientation and the FC tries to compensate but not always well or fast enough. Looks like your vtx signal is improved over previous missions. Lookin good 👍
Thanks for watching. Yes.. agreed. During my few seconds of heart attack, I was switching into both GPS Rescue manually and ANGL mode. Plus I was giving it throttle. That springy noise is me letting off the throttle too fast. Hindsight I should have not used the ANGL at all, just the GPS rescue, and when taking it out of GPS RESC just flow it in ACRO. I suspect too that the FC was confused by my actions.
Just out of curiosity, what version of BF were you running here? I see this was 2021, so I'm assuming 4.1 or 4.2 maybe? BF 4.4 with m10 GPS is SO much better. And BF 4.5 is much improved over that. I am flying BF 4.4 with a good quality GPS, and it works perfectly. I have tested GPS rescue many times, and it never fails to fly home. It was very sketch on BF versions prior to 4.4 I always wait until I have at least 8 satellites locked and hdop
I had ATRAN mode setup on the TX and accidentally switched into this instead of Angle mode recently during a risky situation... which resulted in even more chaos. Ugh, glad you recovered! Cheers
Amazing video men❤,btw,if i in acro and my drone is currently in inverted upside down position then suddenly lost signal, will the drone correct it self(flip itself to level position)??thankss
Hey, GREAT flight, well done 🤩👏👏. You got another subscriber 😉. Could you tell me the weight of the quad and the weight of the Li-ion pack ? Best wishes for the coming flights 😎✊✊
I do get interference even with inav with compass in some areas. But yeah trying compass with betaflight 4.2 it didn't work well. Think cause inav mixed compass and gps reading. Think betaflight if compass enabled it only uses compass for heading.
Does the guy who is spotting ever get a chance to fly the drone? Like going to a friends house and you have to watch them play Xbox cause they won’t let you play lol I’m joking I’m sure the spotter has plenty of drones (:
I was confusing the FC by going out of RESC mode into ANGL mode and while commanding the throttle at that time or other sticks... Next time I'll just exit RESC mode into ACRO/AIR mode with no inputs... next time. LOL
@@ValleyFPV great becareful next time ^_^ i know the feeling is far from home, and get trouble , I'm using 7inch too, so this video is a great advice for me thanks
Buzz and Neil, you are so so right. That made me smile. thanks for your sharing, you are both great!
Glad you enjoyed it

I love your videos bro keep it up im just getting into long range
Thank you and for watching.
7:04 I hear some bouncing spring sounds when the quad tumbled. Maybe you flicked the sticks unintentionally?

So nice of you to let us know where the action startet! haha bro I felt the tention on your breathing when the quad started doing flips. lol
It was..tense for a few seconds there.
Your vibe with your pal is amazing, hope to find one like that when I get to Uni and start flying LR again
Thanks for watching. Yes..he is an old friend.
Get Jim a chair - me knees are hurting just from watching him standing there for 20min.
Ha!. He refuses to sit..or to wear a microphone too. Oh well. He's a good guy.

Thanks for watching. Oh my. Yes.. I think we are on to something. Keep it simple if we can.
@@ValleyFPV exactly my point. “Unnecessary stuff blocks the fire exit.“
That's a good metaphor
Good informative video about those rescue modes.
Thanks
Gracias por compartir.
Thank you for watching
You got balls flying that far with Betaflight instead of iNav.
thanks for watching. yes I have to concentrate the entire time.
Hahahaha! This one had me laughing hard, especially once you took that deep breath. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks... this one really scared me..but it's all good experience.

I think so. Give it a test?

Thanks for watching. The quad is around 600grams and the battery pack around the same at 600grams
woooow, amazing
Thanks for watching
Hey, try to disable the magnetometer. It does a lot of problems with betaflight. GPS is enough With BF. No more misleading home arrows.
I agree. Life is much simpler using ONLY GPS in Betaflight. I got rid of MAG and BARO and everything go smoothly
Thanks for watching, and yes that may be a very good idea. I'll try that out.

I have offered several times..he has no desire to fly he says.
@@ValleyFPV Really?! Wow.
My good spotter has NO desire to fly..if you can believe that.
Where can I get the same Li-ion battery you have?
Thanks for watching. I custom built my packs. Lots of soldering involved. I Purchased the cells from racedayquads.com
@@ValleyFPV thank you I just built my first 7”
It’s my new favorite. Love the cruising speed that it has.
Excellent, yes 7's have good stability.
@@ValleyFPV next I gonna build a 10”. It seems flight times increases with size
@@wethepeople420 Seems that "size does matter" LOL
Hhmmm... why that flips happens?
