Hearing well known celebrities be so candid and open about the real side of themselves is so refreshing. I have so much respect for people who are just real.
Kevin Smith is probably the realest person in Hollywood that you'll ever come across. He is a honest speaker and comes from a good place when getting his point across as in trying to educate rather than show his intelligence and flex his experience. He works In a city where lies and manipulation go hand-in-hand. As routine as brushing teeth, getting dressed and driving to work in the morning. So to possess qualities like brutal honesty; almost an unbridled thought process that is a type of freely flowing Artistic mind, thinking out loud, relaxed but adamant with the direction being traveled
I've seen Kevin perform his spoken word standup type deal on four occasions. The first time, I would say that he was still 90% authentic Kevin. By the last time I saw him, he was the character Kevin that he plays on his podcasts. In fairness to his own opinion of himself, he's always been present with the audience in front of him, and always responds in earnest to anyone who asks him a silly question he's probably answered a billion times. If he feels more comfortable being his authentic self today, then I'm so glad that he came out the other side of his trauma and therapy a better Kevin. But I hope he knows that he's always been lovable, no matter how many masks he feels he has worn over the years. Edit: It was Missouri where the cop confiscated Kev's weed. He mentioned it days after it happened at the last stand up show I saw him at.
"You can't see tomorrow with yesterday's eyes." This episode is wonderful, thank you to the crew and to Kevin for being so honest and open. idk any of you, but I love you.
I am a psych NP and work with a lot of dual diagnosed people. I recommend ur channel and recovery videos to a lot of my patients. PLEASE keep doing what ur doing. U and ur guests are helping so many!!! Thank you❤
I don’t really comment about the episodes but This episode got me what i mean is I was thinking about my life when Kevin was talking about how he went back and talked to himself as a 9 year old I started thinking about my life and teard up great episode
As a therapist, therapy is for EVERYONE. It is a gift, not a punishment. If you're a parent who is bringing your child to therapy, you're succeeding, not failing. 💙
As a woman who lives with CPTSD but is also living a fairly normal life, I couldn’t agree more with what Kevin said. The affect trauma has on the brain, especially in childhood while the brain is still developing, changes how we cope, react or don’t react later on in life. It can be managed and treated, but for me it’s something I will always need to work on. Kevin is really interesting and intelligent to listen to.
I love this Podcast. You all make me think so much every time about life, love, the brain, friends and just understanding more of why we are who we are.
Only 12 minutes into this and my mind is already blown and I need to pause and process this. Thank you for sharing this Kevin and Steve. Kevin, you put into words things I've been trying to for years.
Good podcast I'm 8 months sober now. Was messing up for a while. Shooting fentanyl and meth. Then got arrested for a meth charge. Violated my probation. When I got caught with more meth and MDMA. Did some jail time. And luckily by the grace of God. They offered me into the drug court program. And it's been helping me keep sober ever since
I'm currently in therapy and learning the same things that Kevin Smith has, which is incredibly sobering to hear. I felt the exact same way during EMDR. It's so incredibly heavy.
Hey, Steve-O! I just got my certification as a Peer Support Worker in New Mexico and I'm currently working at a Residential Treatment Center 💪🧠. You're recovery is a huge inspiration and influence that's helped bring me to the place that I am today. Thank you for everything you do!!
I would have too much anxiety to meet most celebrities but I think I would overcome it to hang out with Kevin smith. My dad passed in 2019, but he’s the reason I love clerks, and afterwards every Kevin smith movie I’ve seen lol. And every time I can watch him speak about anything I will watch it. Idk I just think he’d be cool as shit to meet. This discussion about mental health issues ive struggled with, just makes me love him even more.
I think I said this on the last appearance of Kevin Smith. But, I will say it again, Kevin Smith is the best "celebrity" to meet. He is kind, understanding. supportive and overall a genuine guy. They tell you to not meet your heroes. I am glad I met mine! That Hero was Kevin Smith. Such an amazing person and such an experience!
Mr. Smith always reminded me of my brother. the way you spoke, the stories you told my brother is very similar in this regard. After 2016 I noticed in interviews and some podcasts that you seemed lost. A lot of things didn't fit in the thoughts you expressed. That's when I stopped being interested in Kevin Smith... Now I know why and I see that after the help you got you remind me of my brother again. your statements sound warm honest and familiar. I'm glad they helped you I'm a fan again. best regards
I don't know if Kevin will see this, but I am also a deeply co-dependent person who also is constantly amazed that more people haven't taken advantage of me. For me, the reality is that I attached myself to my wife as my "co-dependent". I got incredibly fortunate that my wife is an amazing, loving, non-asshole. I think you're equally lucky in life. You've found good people. I love that for you.
Finally Steve-O you have Kevin.. This was my choice when a few years ago when wild ride first started you asked who we wanted to see you interview Kevin Smith was my answer so thank you for finally having him
I met Kev 2 years ago at Fan Expo Denver. Big whoop, so did a lot of people you say.... Kev showed me an experience Ill never forget. First, I walk in to take a picture with him and Jay. I'm wearing a yellow coat that looks like Jay's coat in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back that I've owned since the movie came out. He greets me with open arms and gives me a huge hug. Amazing! We go to take the picture and he mentions my coat looks a lot like Jay's coat. After the pic, he says, "Hey, we want to borrow your coat! Jay forgot his Jay coat, and we are going to take in character photos later." I'm like, "Of course!" Kev thanks me and tells me to talk to his manager to get the coat from me. His manager gets my number so he can return the coat to me. I tell Jay that I just washed it that morning and he thanks me as well. I had tickets to get some items signed by Kev and Jay later, which was when I was going to get my coat back. I ended up getting kicked out of line because I was told I wasn't going to make it in time for signatures. I had come to the conclusion I had lost my Jay coat... Not the biggest deal per se, I hadn't worn it in years. But to my surprise, I get a text from Kevs manager asking if I had been through the signature line yet. I told him I got kicked out. He told me to swing by the booth and they had me covered. I was so excited, I just asked if I could get my coat signed by Jay. He said of course! So I swing by and Jay is signing my jacket. I gave him a handshake and thanked him. Then his manager says, hey why don't you jump in line here. I told him thanks and how much that meant. He thanked me for saving them by letting them borrow the coat. So I am in front of Kev with the coat. And Kev smiles huge and asks If I want a signature on it. I told him I would love that! So he signs my coat writing "Nice save" on it. I tell Kev I had some other stuff I was going to have him sign. I pull out Jay and Silent Bob Reboot Blu Ray, he signs outside and inside and so does Jay. I pull out 2 He-man Action figures from his show, and he says, "I've never seen both versions of Teela next to eachtother." And he signs them. It was neat to know I showed him something of his own stuff he hadn't seen. He then tells his manager to get some photographs that they can sign. Both him and Jay sign the photos. I shook his and Jays Hands, and told them thanks. Both were so kind and cordial. Kev says that his alter ego when he is in performance mode is a different guy, but I felt like I was talking to a real person. Not some rich A-hole that thinks himself better than everyone else. I could have never imagined I would have had such a great experience with him. Thanks so much Kev. Thanks for all that you have done for your fans.
I would have never guessed Kevin was suffering so much. I'm glad he sought help. I think this video may help a lot of people. Steve, thanks for saving the blue chew ad for later than the first break! XD
Thanx to you both for sharing your experiences and insights. I love you Kevin... Your honest insights have been sooo helpful to me. I relate to you and your experiences... To many parallels to recount... But I've learned a lot from you. Thanx for being truthful about who you were and who you've become... Thanks again to both of you for sharing... I appreciate your generosity. ✌️😎👍

I had HORRIBLE weed withdrawals..... felt like I was in another dimension for about a year. Luckily my brain has almost fully recovered. Still a long way to go
@mrdupreez9061 It was a nightmare. About 3 days after I quit cold turkey, I started feeling tired and foggy. It got worse and worse, and it's hard to explain, but it felt like I wasn't on the same planet as the people around me. After about 8 months, it gradually improved, and now I'm pretty much back to normal
Therapy can be great. The problem is most therapists won't touch the topic of Sin. So when people are internally breaking they are told it's outside forces and you are the victim. When reality is we have free will and your spirit is trying to warn you that something is wrong. Which means YOU have something to deal with. Isn't it great that we can just take a pill and then not worry about the real issue we intentionally won't address?
Kevin Smith is also my favorite episode ever. Dude is a fucking legend!!
I just got sober. 8 days clean. Thank you for this! ❤
5 days myself ❤
just had some edibles

The one guy who can out talk Steve
Didn't even give Steveo a chance to interupt
First thing I thought Steve-O met his match 😂
It’s the one reason I even clicked to watch the video and see if Kevin would dominate
@jasonmoser24 I personally think Kev won haha I have to give it to Steve O, though, he let Kevin do what Kevin does best, tell long stories in detail.
Perfect comment 😂
Kevin smith is my hero and mentor and he’s being a hero again by talking about his mental Health just like did with his heart attack

Also keep it up Kevin! Happy for you.
Did they scrub it? I see zero hate! :) :) :)
I don't see any hate. What are you talking about?
Your first episode with Kevin Smith was my favorite too. I'm happy Kevin has found genuine peace since last he was on the show ❤
Regarding the billion dollar movie, Kevin is talking about Bryan Singer with “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
I heard the podcast and came here for this lol thank you
I listened this the podcast today, wondered about it. Completely separate I came across an article about the exact thing, then here for confirmation
Did that movie make a b?
"You can't see tomorrow with yesterday's eyes." This episode is wonderful, thank you to the crew and to Kevin for being so honest and open. idk any of you, but I love you.

So happy for his recovery. It gives me a new perspective on his whole career too.
