Master class explanation comparing with DHI and VUI... I bought the givenchy today and everything Ash said is spot on...hats off for the classification, mind blowing.
Ever since buying it, it has become my go to scent. I prefer it over other Iris based fragrances: Valentino Uomo Intense, Dior Homme, Hugo Boss The Scent Parfum.

Great review Ash; l love the Gentleman Only Absolut versión with the added “noticeable” Bergamot note. The vanilla in this one or the black vanilla-spice is too much
I just received my order Gentleman EDP today (along with Guerlain's L'homme Ideal Cologne- stocking up on this one). Gentleman EDP is a fantastic sent which lasts on me. I think it stands by itself in many respects and a happy addition to my modest collection. Thanks for the full review!

I have Givenchy Gentleman edp, I loved at first. After wearing it for a couple times I still think it's great, but it comes out a little too dark for me. I also have Dior Homme Intense and I prefer it over Gentleman edp. Never smelled Valentino uomo Intense. Great review! I hope you will review Amouage Beach hut man in the future. Thanks Ashton!
I've never heard a bad word spoken about this, it's universally loved! I fell in love at first sniff and I simply had to buy it. Highly recommend 👍
Really? The black vanilla note got really annoying and was too sweet to my nose.
I own it at first I hated it and thought it smelled like vanilla extract, But after giving it more aware I have come to appreciate it I still think it has a vanilla extract smell to it but really enjoy the fragrance overall the residence and the darkness that it has behind it is very nice

I sprayed this on my brother’s wrist one night when he was in the bathroom brushing his teeth. next morning when I walked in there I could still smell it.
Was it the original formulation?

I love this one! I daringly wore it twice in the summer and still garnered compliments.
I love and own the Gentlemen Cologne, so will have to get my nose on this for the cooler weather
On point review, finally someone is mentioning clear differences between those 3 frags. For me, Givenchy is the more masculine one which is easier to wear. BUT u need to get used to the balmy notes, which is very present especially when u smell too close on skin. When the scenttrail is smooth around you in the air, the scent is superb 🤙
The balmy notes gave me negative feedback when somebody smelled it too close
Easily one of my favorite designer fragrances.

I like it! I actually prefer it to Dior Home Intense, and like it just as much as Valentino Uomo Intense.

This one reminded me of a smoother nuit d'issey parfum. Warm sweet black pepper. I like it.

I also love this, but it is very close to the creamy balsamic incense of This Is Him by Zadig & Voltaire which I already have so I won't be buying a bottle - but I agree with the glowing praise. Unreal performance on the Givenchy, but in general these winter scents do in general enjoy much better performance than their warm-weather counterparts.

This gem was 1 of 2 newly discovered I got into the collection, the other was Luna Rossa Black, this one got me into iris more now

How long does it last?
@@joeslacker1020 on me it lasts about 6-7 hours. Sometimes longer depending on what I’m doing.
This scent is amazing! My only disappointment is I only purchased the 50ml size. Definitely buying the 100ml when this runs out, which won't take long!
Thomas Rymsza i have 55 perfumes and i have only finished one , even though i use perfumes every single day, sometimes twice or three times a day. I cannot understand how you guys finish them so fast

My old Eros edt from 2017 hits so hard I had to triple check it wasn't an EDP concentration

Hey Ashton... Great review... Just one thing... I have vui and gentleman EDP... Wanted to know if you get quite an oily patch on your skin when u spray gentleman EDP compared to Valentino uomo intense?
Yes, the opening of Givenchy Gentlemen EDP is too strong. I applied three sprays in the locker room. My coworkers, they let me know, in no uncertain terms, that my fragrance was too strong, especially the black pepper.
Similar vibe to Chanel Platinum Egoiste; Maybe its the cooler winter version. I think they both have a softness and do something really similar. Both have a certain maturity too.
Nice review and in particular the pointing out of this trifecta of fragances as the ones to go for with respect to irris root. That is a great suggestion, in a similar way of best fragrances with vetiver, or tobacco, vanilla, or cardammon as important notes
The opening is harsh, almost to the point I wouldn’t want to be near ppl until it dries down. After the dry down it’s a strong vanilla scent, not bad but also a little too in your face for my liking.
I bought it on impulse but I’m going to return it bc I already have Prada Luna Rosa Black and that’s an outstanding vanilla smell (on the dry down). It would be redundant to keep this one. I also have GG Boisee and GG EDT. I’ll still keep Prive in mind but these 2 from Givenchy will hold me down for a long while. Great review as always 💪🏽

I have to say when I smelt this. It reminds me of Reflection Man by Amouage. Its a very close alternative to it but more affordable
Whst about prada l'homme intense? Have you smelled it? Where would that fit into the quad/trifecta
Wouldn't you include Dior Homme parfum un that list of high quality iris based fragances? Would you say the less redundant of the three once you own Dior Homme parfum Is gentleman?
I picked up Bentley Intense for Men smells the closest to Givenchy Gentleman EDP. Probably because of Nathalie Lorson being one of the Perfumes. So it makes sense since she probably makes wood scents very similar.
I don't know how anyone can compare GG EDP to BIFM. Two totally different scents.
@@jdmb03 They are different scents, but they have similarities. It's not a complete departure. The woody base of both have facets of similarities, like cousins. Not directly the same parent, but the same grandparents.
Do you know if there is a difference between the batches of this fragrance? I have the possibility to acquire a batch of 2018/10 (8K01) and another of 2020/01 (0A01). Could someone give me a recommendation?
i like that u seat higher now, coz your new light source is far too intensive, so your background was too dark. now with the contrast of white/yellow wall behind the shelf it looks better as be before imho.
Yeah that opening is a slap in the face all right.. when I picked up was the clove.. did get a lot nicer once it dried down. I'm glad I only picked up a 15 mL sample
I have a question. When you say a fragrance is best for fall, does that only mean if you plan on staying outside most of the day. Like I work at a Casino, so should I wear clubbing fragrances
bought this fragrance from fragrance x . just used 1 spray daily for 5 days . for me it was just a let down from start to finish.oh ,boy.
was expecting a dior homme intense vibe but there's no comparison.

Idk why nobody smells the note of cloves. To me it's the most clear note. Balsam and Clove mainly. Then vanilla and pepper.
Valentino intense has been discontinued and prices have shot up.What about Prada l'homme intense? very similar to these three featured.

Sooo I purchased GG EPP after your top 10 affordable review. And I’m a little freaked out bc there’s zero opening notes in my bottle....smells like water. The dry down is nice 👍 but I’ve never had a fragrance with zero opening notes. I was expecting more of a peppery note like the Original GG had back in the day.
I also got Salvatore Ferragamo Signature and loving it!!
I've not tried anything from the house, so it's great to learn more about this from you 👌

@@RafoRH I've only tried it a couple of times , so take this with a grain of salt.
I loved what I tried , a beautiful powdery musky rose with a back bone of leather and a just a hint of dirtiness from the Patchouli.
It's great from what I remember.
Today in an airport was able to check DHI and Givenchy Gentleman EDP. Both indeed very refined, in particular DHI. For some reason the Prada´s for me, nope nope. Their lipsticky presentation for me is rather off-putting, kind of some cognitive dissonance of some sort. So I guess I kind of get why you pointed out the iris/orris trifecta not including any Prada. Must still check the Valentino.
This stuff lasted on my wrist more than 15hours , really impressive longevity.
It reminds me a bit of a mix between This is him and Valentino Uomo intense

Hey so did anyone else get a baby powder smell with the givenchy black bottle? I ordered from fragrancenet of course I couldn't get a refund but a few other people complained about it smelling straight like baby powder. And Salvatore Ferragamo F Black. If you can, order the 0.20oz the sample size first.

Givenchy edp is my favorite cold weather scent I’ve been using it since October and it’s dope I also have vui that I hate its kinda weird because they do smell similar 🤷🏽♂️

@@seifsamara7545 Are similar but not redundant imo. They have the very same style but without touching themselves whatsoever.. I recommend you to give it a try by yourself.

I like the gentleman edp jus a tad better than the valentino intense edp. However, very happy to rotate them both in fall and winter. Super happy to own both fragrances.
Is this similar to F Black by Ferragamo with that Black pepper?
my roommate uses this as his signature scent, and he gets tons of compliments, also lasts all day long with massive projection. I can literally smell it in the staircase or bathroom 1h after he passed by. I like it aswell, but not as much as both DHI and VUI. Still, a great pick up for everyday signature cool weather scent.
Did anybody know how to see the juice level in this bottle?
I have only ever smelled Pi from Givenchy. But now I see that I'm gonna have to go to Macy's ( while it's still there ) to bug the sales lady yet again 😁

Valzalel this one is much better than the edt. Its pretty strong in the opening but you gotta give 5-10 mins and youll love it

I find this scent to be very powdry, make-upy, and strong. It gave me a headache. I was definitely strong and I had to wash it off to get it off my skin. Definitely try a decant before you buy
Got it ten days ago, loved it for the cold fall weather we're getting in Argentina. Girlfriend comes back from trip... "Hey you smell like my grandmother". So, I'm selling.

I bought a bottle from gift express and they say there a legit discounters but why does my bottle of Gentleman EDP doesn’t have Paris written on front of the bottle and I looked the batch code up and it says December 2019 but my bottle doesn’t look like everybody else’s! Can somebody help me because I’m thinking fake but I hope not
Did you order a tester bottle? Cuz gift express is legit, just know that if it has a batch code that actually pulled up info on it, you have an authentic bottle. It's not a fake bottle :)

You should make a video where you review 10 scents you would give a 9/10 or better under $90 bucks! Would this one fall into that category? Or not quite?

This is a hidden gem... this smells like Valentino uomo intense/dior homme intense but this one lasts like 12-16hrs on skin it doesnt projects beastly but it doesnt turn into a skin scent for about 8-10hrs great longevity for like 50-60 bucks definitely worth it before it gets reformulated get it now.
Lots a black vanilla as well in this really well blended i need to purchase this ive been passing on it because i own dior homme intense that i never wear because it doesnt last.
Dhi has more cocoa, givenchy has more black vanilla, and uomo intense has more powder irris in my opinion.
