Many thanks for your views of the Gentleman Givenchy EDP just about all of which I wholeheartedly agree. Being a fan of gourmand fragrances, I love the warm and sweet vanilla notes. Per your findings, the projection on my skin is not as pronounced as perhaps I would initially have liked but there are advantages here as you said, in that it becomes a more versatile scent for all occasions.
I discovered the Gentle Givenchy EDP just after the new year began and thoroughly love it. Ever since Guerlain dropped their L'Instant Extreme and Lolita Lempicka changed the formulation of their Au Masculin I had been largely without a signature scent with the exception of Mugler's Pure Havane. Then came my rediscovery of the House of Givenchy. Here in the UK, it's a lot more expensive than your quoted price but still not as expensive as Dior Homme Intense to which I do not think it bears much similarity. I find that the DHI has more of a musky/smoky note and it probably smells a lot more expensive but it doesn't last well on my skin . I agree the Givenchy is closer in style to Valentino Uomo.

Yes I agree, I own Dior Homme Intense, Gentlemen EDP and Valentino Uomo Intense and they are all very similar. I think Gentlemen EDP is closer to Uomo intense at least when sprayed in the air. Uomo is very citrus in the opening and have a more “lipstick” smell while Gentlemen EDP have a more “masculine” vibe in the dry down. If you are fan of that type scent I think you can own them all without been too redundant.
A dark powdery extremely pleasant scent. Just received today and was shocked at how good it is. Love it
Hey Dallas, you seem to have a lot of the same tastes as me, and I dont see a lot of Guerlain reviews from you besides Lhomme Ideal. It would be cool if you could try and review some of their classic atuff like Habit Rouge, Heritage, Vetiver, L'instant, etc. I think youll really enjoy them if youve never tried them and itd be cool to see your thoughts on them.

I always wear dark clothing when using this for work. 3 sprays is not over powering. One spray behind each ear and to the back of the neck. Wore this last week.
Dallas, you are excellent. Yours and the review by Gent Scents are the best I've come across.Gentlemen EDP is in my top 15 favorite designer frags. I also like Valentino UI, but I like this one more. Dior Homme Intense? Well that is in my top 5 designer favorites.
I tried this at my local department store and YES. Really good longevity , even more than Sauvage for less !
Got it last year and I love it. I get a lot of complements but it reminds me of incense that the burn at church but maybe thats me. But others instantly smell the powdery iris, eithet way its one of my favorite winter/fall scents

This one kind of reminds me of blue berries. For a beginner that likes blue fragrances, this is the one I would go with to get them into iris fragrances because it kind of has a blue vibe with other things. For me, Dior Homme Intense is my favorite because of the warm, amber like, watery pear. Valentino Uomo Intense I could see if you're more formal but also are going to be partying because it is rather loud. The Givenchy I think sits right inbetween those two, making it the most versatile. Can't wait to try the Boisee version

I bought tons of winter frags in the last couple of months but this definitely has been my go-to. I like how the balsamic vanilla iris smell is blended and the performance is great.
How is the projection and longevity?
@Blue_Tsuki I get about arm's length projection and the longevity is great... I get about 8 hours.
@@christiancgp7 nice arm lengths is good enough to be noticeable, i tot it was just a small scent bubble near to our shoulder length area.
But projection last about 2hours and from then onwards goes near to the skin right?
@Blue_Tsuki That's correct... the projection is about two hours and then it gets closer to the skin. I work in an office and my coworkers told me that they could still smell it by the end of my 8 hour shift. I could still smell it on myself as well which doesn't happen very often.

Blind buy it and when i tried it remember me of dolce gabanna the one edp, the opening is very similar, on the drydown becames beautiful and addictive and last forever, now in my country(portugal) is very cold , is the best time to use it!!

I always go to work in the morning self conscious because of my habitual overspraying. Work feels like a scent deprivation chamber and it makes my fragrances stand out more than in other enviornments.

bought it today and no regrets oh my good its so good
I tried this in store on paper and was not impressed but the sales lady gave me a sample to take home. Having tried it a few times now, I really like it. I find it really powdery which just takes me back to sitting in the booster seat at the barbershop and being dusted down with talc after the haircut. I don’t know if I’d like it as much without the scent memory. Givenchy is now on my wish list.
It really reminds me of a less boozy more powdery flanker to Bentley-Intense

One of my favorite
First sampled this at a department store. Two sprays on my forearm and went about my day.
This thing was radiating off my skin like crazy. People around me were reacting positively.
Don't care what ill-informed fragrance snobs say. This is a masculine scent.
Even after a shower the scent had awoken and was radiating.
Givenchy Gentleman EDP, Dior Home Intense EDP and Amouage Interlude Black Iris are my favorite Iris scents hands down. Compulsory in my collection.
Did ONE spray of Gentleman EDP on my forearm after a shower today.
Almost six hours later and I'm still getting beautiful whiffs of this scent. It's going strong.
Disclaimer: If you wear Gentleman EDP in an air-conditioned room with sexy ladies in that same room. You will draw major attention.
It was a blind buy for me. Didn't like it. Came back to it a couple months later... love it.
Compared to others, this one projects like crazy. So unlike others where I can spray more, this one is a one spray or it can blow out a room.

its a great release, i chose tom ford extreme over it and i kinda regret it, not that i dont like NE but givenchy genteleman is classier more sophisticated, darker... it lasts longer and project further. it gonna be next winter fragrance. i prefer it over dior homme intense its more masculin and way cheaper.

There are so many bottles of this one it’s confusing. How many of the toilettes are there? How is the edt diff than the edp for this particular one?
As someone who has worn this fragrance since I received it as a gift for Christmas 1975, this is a very different version from the original. The original came in a silver label with a silver metallic cap. It changed to a black cap and then finally to a black cap with a black inner coating on the bottle. The actual fragrance did not change - imo - but how it wears did. While you think this version is deep, it is easily the most watered down version to date. I suppose modern noses call for that since so many modern fragrances seem to be more subtle then bold.
The original was cut roughly in half when it went black cap and and cut by half again when it went to the black inner coating. The difference as I said is in how it wears. You note the opening and the down stage. It used to have a third and fourth stage in its original form but only three stages in the middle variant.
Let me describe them. Originally this fragrance would hit you with a hammer when you first apply it. It was intense and it was potent. It quickly civilized itself if it was on your skin, but anywhere you clothing was hit stay intense until the clothes were washed, sometimes twice! It could transform your fresh laundry with a subtle hint of it AFTER washing. But on your skin it evolved. It went into the down stage you speak of here in this version, but it had a 3rd stage that would hit about a day later if you did not shower. It would transform into a smoldering scent that the wearer would be nose-blind too, but everyone around would pick up on. They would smell 'something' and not be sure if it was cologne or something mystical coming off of your skin like your own scent. I was told, wow, you smell like a man, you would pick up hints of a maleness in it, leather, musk and a tinge of something powdery. This would last a couple of days on your skin and eventually wear down to the point no one could consciously smell it, but they would say your skin smelled like sunlight, campfires and sex, a distant sort of freshness that is distinctly all male.
The new version no longer does that. It stops at the down stage. But, when I was younger and in the military I would often experience several days without a shower on duty rotation. When I was older and the black cap was around, I seldom had the process of skipping a shower any day. But it still was there even through a shower with good quality body washes. I do not use scented washes because I prefer to be simple until I choose my fragrance. Gentlemen will survive those washings.
It became my signature I have worn no other scent for 45 years. I am often stopped and asked what it is. I use it lightly but I have had women and men in the next aisle smell it and come to me. In social settings, people want to get close to you and inhale. I knew what they were doing but they sometimes do not say what is drawing them in. I will overhear a remark as I walkaway, 'wow, he smelled like a man!"
I have tried other fragrances but none has even spoken to me and for me as well as this one. If you wear it, make it your own and you will never be forgotten by anyone who meets you.
Reformulation is a B*tch! There are so many fragrances I wish I could experience from the past before it.
You definetly sold this fragrance to me. I already own it, but I've worn it just once. It was one spray to try it on my left wrist. I applied it on tuesday and it is now sunday. I can still smell it and it smells even better than when I first applied. Thanks.
Great scent sweet great projection 8-10 hours
I hated this fragrance at first. It smelt dirty, earthy, but now after 6 months of wearing it, I love it. So individual. So many comments. Classy, manly and sexy. That'll do me :-)
I bought Reserve privee last year. I loved it. Just saw edp for $55 for sale as tester bottle 100ml. I couldn't pass it. It's 95 percent similar to Reserve privee. Both r amazing. If u don't want spend $100 for Reserve privee just get edp half the price.
I love the stuff I wear it sparingly since the cacao is way better than Valentino

IMO the performance Is a bit deceiving. Seems to perform better with movement. I don’t smell it so much sitting still but when I’m walking around I constantly get wafts of the fragrance long after spraying a few sprays on my arm yesterday.
Haven’t smelled this but sounds similar to Uomo Signature by Ferragamo
This one will hopefully be a long term staple in the Givenchy stable of fragrances, such as Givenchy Pi. It's been a staple for since 1998. So, this better hang around for the next decade. Because Pi is still alive and kicking.
By the way, I also own Valentino Uomo Intense as well, among several Dior Homme fragrances, and I find myself wearing this one right before bed to top off the night perfectly as an aromatherapy solution.

great smell but lacks projection. overspraying could be hard during the opening for some, but looking at the poor projection, id prefer on big sprays (and wait for awhile)

I was hyped to get this fragrance but when u got it all I could smell was incense and a hint of vanilla I was so disappointed 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 i got NO Iris at all or anything else you described I don't know if I got a bad batch (ordered off eBay) I gave to my friend he's gotten compliments with it. Alin Berty, they are two different fragrances. The One will get you TONS of compliments, Prive is one of my favorites and will still get you compliments but it has a boozy note that is killer!! The One is a great blind buy but you might want to smell Prive before you buy it.
I have this. And for me it's not amazing fragrance. Because sweetness in this scent is too annoying for me. But this is good fragrance.

This has more similarities with Zadig & Voltaire's HIM than with DHI or Valentino Uomo.
yea that balsamic vanilla iris combo in givenchy can make you think of the incense vanilla in this is him , but it s still closer to dhi and valentino uomo intense. especially with valentino uomo intense, i feel they're like 80%similar.
