    Just a note. I had seen several forum discussions and a RUclips video of a complaint about the 8200. I emailed and engineer at Bernzomatic and this was his answer. My question was why are some people having problems with fuel leaking from this hole, which is on the inside bottom of the plastic handle. "Thank you for your message and question. The biggest reason as to why this issue persists is due to leaving the fuel canister connected to your torch while it is not in use. The issue with leaving your torch connected to your fuel canister while it is being stored is the constant pressure from the fuel canister will break down your sealants on your torch. Once the torch is removed after being stored on the fuel canister for an extended period, the sealants will dry out and slowly deteriorate. Our instructions state that the best practice for storing methods is to remove the torch from the fuel canister while it is not in use."
    I liked your video, very informative. I wasn't trying to contradict you, just trying to get this out for users.

      Thanks for that.
      I had not noticed that on the info page that comes with the torch.
      It does make sense, EVEN THOUGH IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE! LOL
      What I mean is, if Benz KNOWS about this seal problem, they why in the hell aren't they designing a better seal!? You know, like the seals on the older, "normal" torch handles that most of us have had for decades.
      Not one of those suffer this problem at all.
      This is clearly a design flaw... a KNOWN design flaw that they appear to be ignoring.
      I guess it's more cost effective for the company to not pay for development that paying out law suits.
      Hmm... perhaps a CLASS ACTION would "spark" them into doing what's right.
      in the mean time, for me, anyway, removing the handle is what I do already anyway, so hopefully that'll extend the life of this thing.

    I recently purchased a TS4000 for lighting fireworks. Perfect. Just thread the torch onto a bottle of propane and you're good to go. No having to fool with an adjustment knob.

    So, I did end up buying the TS8000 torch to change the 2 valves on our furnace. The "preventer" and the "regulator". I didn't want to just use my old propane torch and have problems.
    This TS8000 works so well. I love the instant on/off function. So much easier.
    My only fear, is what I've seen where they can let gas come out of the little hole around the trigger and cause fire that you can't just put out by turning it off. First, hands would get burned.
    So when I used it, just to be safe, I had a 5 gal pail of water so that if it did happen, at least I could throw it into the water and hopefully unscrew the handle from the tank.
    I wish that there was some sort of adapter that would be between the tank and the handle that was like a kill switch. Meaning, if you let go, it would stop gas flow BEFORE it could even leave the tank.

    I’ve had the TS8000 for a few years and a few months ago the piezo igniter stopped sparking (I’ve adjusted the wire but no spark). That igniter is not a available as a replacement part. There is a video on YT showing how to remove a piezo igniter from a cheap lighter and use it to replace the igniter in the torch. Great video

    My TS8000 is about 14 years old now and still works great! However, a word of warning, these are technically compatible with propane as well, but those cheap Coleman camping propane bottles from the camping store make a terrible oily mess out of the torch. I had to completely disassemble my torch and clean the whole thing..
    Ive never has this issue with the MAPP gas.
    Also, Im not sure why, maybe the age? it struggles to open and let the gas flow when its been sitting in the 20 degree garage during the winter.

    Don't drop it when it's attached to the tank or you can have a very bad day. I'd recommend removing it from the tank when not in use, just to be safe. The neck on the bottles aren't attached that well, and the shear ring on the torch doesn't let go like it should to protect the bottle. People have died or been injured for life. If you are going to use it a lot around your shop and aren't worried about portability as much, you can get a long hose with the right connectors to hook it up to a bottle of LP gas that holds a lot more gas for less money, and just swap it out at any propane seller. (Same tank the grills use)

    • @JOHNDANIEL1
      @JOHNDANIEL1  4 года назад +2

      Best solution is NEVER on any torch use the bottle as a stand when no in use or in unstable work areas, of any like product. Lay it flat when in question.

    Home Depot sells the TS8000 with MAPP combo for $52. They also sell the 14oz standard propane for $3.xx each while Amazon sells 3pk combo for $20+

    • @JOHNDANIEL1
      @JOHNDANIEL1  7 лет назад +2

      Standard propane has no good results with these MAPP rated torches. And depending on your location, you may get the torch for more, or less due to location-taxes-wage rates than a local store. Buying from Ebay, amazon, and other online is a sit at home Fuel Free, Tax Free, and Crowd free positive. However, contrary to what many Leftist, Socialist, Left Coast-Wetspants Coast or liberals in this world think, not everyone lives within minutes of a Starbucks, Home Depot, Target or Macy's!~
      I do recommend MAPP gas in these to get the designed effect.

    I use the 8000 once , feels a bit of an overshot if you are just soldering less than 2” copper pipes , also not really comfortable using it tight spaces , under cabinets or inside walls , I guess a plumber that don’t need to weld will do just fine with the 4000 or something similar,

    Hello, would these Bernzomatic work with any gas (propane, butane etc.)? I guess this question is for anybody in the Bernzomatic Community. And @John Daniel, thank you for posting and sharing this video, very, very helpful.

    • @JOHNDANIEL1
      @JOHNDANIEL1  3 года назад +2

      It's either going to work on propane or map and I would not recommend butane due to its liquid emission ratio. The regulator is not made for butane but you can buy a butane torch similar. Most of the time just stick with propane.
