Isn't USA more messed up in degrees? More illiteracy, lack of rights (laws exist but are not really in action), police violence, and violence in general. Qatar is by a large margin more peaceful than the USA. They got low crime rates, violent incidents, lower depression, and so forth. When I compare the two, Qatar is nearer to perfection. If reducing some rights by law leads to the majority being happier and safer, is that not worth it? Compared to the sheer damage full freedom causes in the USA? Riots being so prevalent and all? Or is the news in media all biased and false?
He forgot to mention the Iraq war , if the USA football team made a stand then we can truly believe even USA lecture other nations about making z stand on human rights

USA is close to allowing 5 year olds babies to go in for horrific gender transformation surgery even if their parents refuse. In the USA you have the democrats working with their secret police (FBI) actively arresting and silencing as many trump associates and republican voices as they can (worse than Putins russia) Thousands more atrocities centered around the USA USA is a dicatorship - the world cup shouldn't be going there
Honestly speaking, had Morgan not been a groupie for this guy, he would have embarrassed him with easy counters to such ridiculous claims. The USA invasion of Iraq is a "mistake" and that's not what they are about? I have heard it all now
In Qatar, government projects are awarded to big contractors - mostly managed by foreigners. They hire workers from overseas through agencies in south East Asian countries. The agency takes fees from the companies/contractors. As a result Contractors expect the workers to not work elsewhere once the workers arrive in Qatar. The government cannot control every single recruitment happening in the private sector - which is run by foreigners themselves. For decades, workers have been coming to Qatar from south east Asia willingly (nobody forces them on planes). The workers know that conditions in their countries (and in Europe) are worse than in Qatar.
It's not just qatar. What about Dubai? And other middle east countries? Yet no celebrity stops themselves from arriving at Dubai and performing in concerts and shows. Hypocrites!!
That what I'm saying.. I'm sudanese and the contracts to work in Saudi Arabia and UAE are ruined by sudanese agencies not Saudi government.. If Saudis are willing to pay 3k dollars the private agencies will tell them "don't bother. We can find you someone that can work for 1.5k"
Embarrassing interview by Bob. Some valid points regarding Qatars HR shortcomings but the aura of superiority is suffocating. Let’s not forget the millions more HR violations by the USA in their wars, invasions and illegal occupations. In terms of domestically their crime rate is through the roof, police and prison systems are in desperate need for reform, drugs and military grade weapons rule the streets, school shooting are a normal occurrence, there is a mental Heath and suicide crisis and family values are non existent in many parts of the country. Putting parents in care homes is normal and are treated as burdens by many but God forbid a child can’t identify as a dog or go through an irreversible sex change. The USA of all countries have done nothing but spread corruption through the world in all levels of society. Pointing out these shortcomings is important but the incredible hypocrisy is mind boggling.

Bob talks about the ‘degree’ in which countries perform atrocities. So in his eyes, China, Russia and Qatar have performed atrocities to a higher degree? Sounds fair coming from an American. I would argue America historically is one of the worst nations in the world, along with Britain (I’m British). The amount of innocent lives taken from these two countries outweigh any other nation in the world. They sit on their high horses talking about morality when they’ve committed more violations than anyone else. No country is perfect. Qatar themselves have admitted they need to improve with conditions of migrant workers. They haven’t beaten around the bush and have displayed more inclusivity than many nations. I’d much rather live in a country like Qatar than the USA, where I could leave my car running on the road without a worry in the world, or I could leave my wife and daughter to travel alone without worrying about them being attacked. It’s ironic how the west attack Arabian countries on women’s rights, where in these countries, the women are safer and are less objectified. The fight against Qatar is against one thing only - the fact that it’s an Islamic country. It’s Islamic values that gives Qatar its positive values. Open your own mind and look into the teachings of Islam and how it gives rights and freedom to ALL. Also, China and Russia are by no means ideal but why does the west attack them? Because they’re a political and economic threat. There’s a pattern here. Western countries attack any country that’s a threat (in any way) to them. Typical bully, coward behaviour. Don’t believe what these crooks tell you. Use your own intellect and see for yourself.
Mr. Costas, isn’t Guantanamo Bay a “definitive” violation of human rights? Isn’t the imprisonment of an individual without a trial the ultimate human rights violation? Is the USA’s unrelenting support to Israel, a country that is continuously breaking every human rights record in the book, even when the Palestinians go to international courts of law a representation of your country’s “DNA”? And the fact that you called the invasion of Iraq, a country where millions of its citizens have died and it’s repercussions are felt in the region to this day over 20 years later, as just a “mistake” is appalling. The list goes on and on. Honestly, sometimes I feel like they are intentionally blinding themselves to their own reality… But they feel like they have the right to lecture us. I would have respected him more if he just said what he really wanted to say, and it’s that the West doesn’t want an Arab, Muslim country to host the biggest sporting event in the world. Because they can’t stand the fact that a country like Qatar can actually do it and do it well.
Will African fans get visa to cheer for their countries as the Qatari issued them? I'm my opinion, this is the best world cup ever. May Allah bless the Qatari's.
Bruh you can’t be the one who decides which countries violate human rights and to what degrees. Qatar has their own ethics and conduct and for them to ask visitors to honour that isn’t violation of human rights. At least have a neutral way to approach the issues. You can’t just go ahead with a western pov to manage non western problems

How is aiding and supporting colonial settlers in Palestine helping humans rights? how is banning Women from wearing a hijab in France or Denmark and many other places because of the Islamic beliefs protects human rights equally and consistently? If we wanna talk about "degrees" of human rights violations, I think we should definitely start with the USA and move our way down, because that's where most wars were perpetrated.
Message to Bob Costas, your own US of A is one of the biggest violators of Human Rights, but I credit the USMT in staying away from virtue signalling and focusing on the football.
If the western countries can do business with middle east countries, if the western country leaders shake hand with middle east country leaders, if the western share so many things with middle east, why can't we play football over there?
I had a lot of respect for Bob Costas, but he lost all respect in my eyes. I cannot believe the entire western world is hammering Qatar who is a tiny nation and could never be able to finish a project without migrant workers. Way more people are getting killed by guns incomprehensibly in America than ever a single worker in Qatar.
Not bad. If only politicians could do this... challenge and answer - and address the question. Even if you agree, disagree, there's dialogue and an attempt to understand. Just don't have much of that anymore.
The question should be asked is, who gets to decide which rights are "human rights"? As it stands right now. The West is the one deciding human rights. In other words, the current human rights stipulations reflect Western values. Really, it is a form of Western ideological imperialism to force those "human rights" onto other nations. The guest ignores the fact that the US and Briton invaded multiple countries and killed over 3 million people and destroyed entrei countries. That is not a human rights issue in his eyes. However, Russia invading Ukraine is. Nice nice
Bob Acosta, you are dead wrong about your clarifications of Qatar, China, and Russia...etc. to decide whether they can host international sports events or not. Simple because you would have to use the same standards for all countrand if you do si then no country would be eligible to host any events starting with Europe and the whole hemmesfer unless you use the double standard that Europe and America usually use.
Most persons would kill to live in the middle east. It has wealth, culture, spirituality, respect, functional society, very functional and a rule of law, something which is seriously lacking in the West. The people there right now are reinventing themselves spiritually, humanly and as people. I would not be surprised if they get separation anxiety after the world cup is over. Qatar has changed the perception of international football. It has been proven that football isn't just for British drunk hooligans, it is also for everyone else; families, women and children. When communtiy rights are on par with personal rights, the society becomes functional and reciprocal. Everyone enjoys together. Whereas in the West, particuarly in England, there is just no manners nor any class at all from fans. They think they can do whatever the hell they want no matter who they disrespect and before you know it, you get a Wembley-hosted euro's final footage or the welsh v english footage of hooliganism which went viral recently. Embarrassing, do you think that is what football is about? Disgusting.
What about not allowing abortion in some US states? And what about the implicit racism against black Americans? Don't give people lessons in morals when you're missing out. An example of this is what happened in Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq, who pushed Ukraine to non-recognition of the Mnisk 1 & 2 agreement through Zilansk puppets?
His double standard is screaming... What is fundamentally just if you preach justice but you are practicing injustice? What is fundamentally a human right defender when you selectively choose which one you want to champion and ignore others human right abuses even though they are more severe. The human right violated by the countries you claim are fundamentally pro-human right are far more that any human right violations Qatar might have committed or for that matter will ever commit... Enough of hypocrisy enough of insulting people intelligence
50000 people die every year because of gun violence in America. Police shootings of black people are common yet he is calling out Qatar ? How many LGBT people are killed in Qatar ? I will tel you 000000 . As for immigrants workers if Qatar doesn’t treat them good you are more than welcome to issue them work visas for 2 to 3 million Indians , Bangladeshi, Nepali’s because they need to feed their families.
The double standards this ‘Bob’ individual is exhibiting is crazy. When it comes to the USA: gun control issues, women’s rights being violated, lack of cultural awareness (beyond their own cultures), RACISM, school shootings, and not to forget that it wasn’t only Iraq the USA invaded. The United States has invaded or fought in 84 of the 193 countries recognized by the United Nations. And this is without recalling how many died because of their invasions, because that number is too big to be stated. Meanwhile, the amount of migrant worker deaths that occurred in Qatar in preparation for the World Cup was overestimated just to make Qatar look bad, there were little to no work-related deaths in the creation of the stadiums (as there would be in any major construction sites). This is not to desensitise worker’s health and safety, but Qatar has improved their standards by the minute since then. And they don’t support LGBTQ rights because it is against their religion. And suddenly Qatar is the one that is violating more human rights than the USA? This interview was incredibly hypocritical and just showed us how incredibly shallow some people from the west can be. They tell us not to involve politics in sport events when Palestinians were raising Palestinian flags during matches to show their stance against Israel who is illegally occupying land, but then they bring politics when the sport events are held in the Middle East and it’s suddenly okay. They didn’t show solidarity for the Palestinians in sport events because ‘we don’t mix sports with politics’, but then they showed their solidarity with Ukraine. There is always double standards against Middle Easterns and it’s just sickening at this point.
I have to disagree on the degree of mistreatments that Bob made. USA invaded Iraq, Afghanistan etc. is he saying that’s lesser degree in human rights issues?? Double standards
Why not Bob decides not only who hosts the competition!! You can decide who should participate based on your biased judgement. I am from Bangladesh and I know well who employed so many persons and help families to survive. We know well which countries making life miserable by giving conditions on economic development of those developing countries. Pls get the real from the ground.
This is a great discussion. Very legitimate and great points from both sides. These are the kind of talks or debates (whatever you want to call them) that not only entertains, but one can learn so much from whichever side you are on.
The West has no problem having politics in sports when politics perpetuates western propaganda. However, when the politics are not supporting a Western cause, that is when the "keep politics out of sports" excuse is brought up. For example, not allowing players and teams to show support for Palestine in the Euros. But, they allowed support for LGBT and Ukraine.

As well as hypotheses and double standards I would like to know what fundamental right Qatar breached?
Qatar: Free education, free healthcare, and one of the world's highest GDPs

That’s the problem they think everyone is wrong but they are not
They are upset about not applauding the degenerates of society. Just look at the west, esp America when it comes to LGBTQ.
Degenerate hypocrisy!

Oh how I laughed when Germany got knocked out 😂
🤣🤣🤣u were not alone
How can you play while your had is on your mouth?!
I never been so happy for team’s loss but Germany
The owners of Qatar bought PSG and then the right to host a World Cup. After a lot of money, thousands of lives lost and several refereeing errors, the final of the tournament is decided between two selections whose main players "coincidentally" belong to... P-S-G.
Five (5) stolen penalties for Argentina, almost all when the game was still tied (Saudi Arabia, Poland, Netherlands, Croatia and France). Lionel Messi, the FIFA protégé, scored 4 goals from penalties, all of them badly kicked, and 3 goals unmarked. When Neymar or Vini Jr. they start to dribble, then they are fouled. When the test-tube baby Messi starts scratching on the ball with his short legs, no one dares to touch the figurine. He put his hand on the ball, Maradona style, but did not receive a yellow card. He detracted from Weghorst and van Gaal, showing how false his reputation as "humble" is (they confuse a lack of personality with humility).
Another coincidence: Modric was a tiger against Brazil and a little bunny against Argentina. He entered the field just to ask for an autograph. Humiliating. But then he returned to play well against Morocco.
That cup felt like match wrestling. FIFA is as fake as WWE.
Germany is my favorite country that I've visited and part of me was like "they got what they deserved".
Soo America mistakenly Invaded Iraq and Afghanistan OOPSIE
Yeah they just coincidentally boarder Iran.
They even accidentaly tried to invade vietnam
Propaganda Bob, obsessed with putins russia and the other buzz word iran, how about the fact that your own president has categorically registered all MAGA republicans (most trump voters) as extremists. So you've a country with millions of extremists.
During the world cup alone there was a mass gay shooting in USA killing more gays than probably the middle east have in the past decade.
USA is close to allowing 5 year olds babies to go in for horrific gender transformation surgery even if their parents refuse.
In the USA you have the democrats working with their secret police (FBI) actively arresting and silencing as many trump associates and republican voices as they can (worse than Putins russia)
Thousands more atrocities centered around the USA
USA is a dicatorship - the world cup shouldn't be going there
Honestly speaking, had Morgan not been a groupie for this guy, he would have embarrassed him with easy counters to such ridiculous claims.
Bitter truth.

Strange how everyone leaves out talking about Israel's human rights abuses. Does it surprise you?
Not at all.
Well done Morocco, a great battling team display
Today they beat Portugal. Well done to them, first African team in WC semifinals.

This will go down as the best World Cup ever!… Congratulations to Qatar 🇶🇦.
In other words, what Bob is saying is that it should be a 'Western Cup' not 'World Cup'!
Germany getting kicked out of the competition so early was a sign from above!
Lol its funny that mr bob here thinks he can decides who is fundamentally abusing human rights 😂
Very funny right
And he thinks that the killing if millions of civilians by the amerikan invasions is less of a fundamentally abusing human rights than Qatar.
exactly my thoughts too, it's all about the degree of abuse not necessarily the abuse itself. lol
1) Demolition of countries 🇱🇾 &🇮🇶 🇦🇫 is not fundamental .
2) Opened discrimination against the black minority if not fundamental
3) Gun violence is killing life but not fundamental.
It is fundamental when he call it fundamental .see he is the law.
The western people never afraid to embarrassing themselves on live television. I didn't know you were so low.
That's the American way.
Piers is just becoming better interviewer after all these years. Keep it up.
Yeah, a million civilians in Iraq was a flaw 😂
Well said Faris
Will African fans get visa to cheer for their countries as the Qatari issued them? I'm my opinion, this is the best world cup ever. May Allah bless the Qatari's.
People like this Bob dude know very well that they are just envying Qatar
Germany finally won the Rainbow Cup 😂😂🤣🤣
Definitely they did🤣
America invading over 70 countries is a "Flaw". Humanity is lost with people who think like Bob
It's their country and their religion. You can't force your ideals on other people.
Great take and interview. I am thoroughly enjoying Piers Morgans' discussion over the past few months.
Oh Israel has done worse but let’s not talk about that smh…
i salute the leaders of Qatar. its something that forbid on their religion, their beliefs. and if they allow those "forbidden things" to be consumed by their people, on their house, it will be to much responsibility to answer to their creator, their god, on their people behalf.
no one could take those sins and being safe on the judgment day, its unforgivable.

your guest is so biased and knows nothing about the Middle East; he is feeling oppressed by some gun control law.
Let's compare qatars human rights record against the Americans.
How is the UK treating the migrants crossing the Channel?
Equality is not LGBTQ+, and the middleastern people are not hypocrites, we will not promote these acts on our streets, we protect the community first before the self interest of individuals sexuality, individuals if they are LGBTQ then they should keep it behind closed doors, the community doesn't want to see it also the same for heterosexual acts.
In tbe middleast we have shame we don't have pride we don't go out exposing our sexuality to others.
And this how we respect one another.
Amazed at the western hypocrisy in particular American,
Referring to the US and the UK, Mr. Bob says "Its in their DNA to address these inequalities and injustices."
Huge claim, me thinks.
Toooo Much Respect For U Piers ❤️👏👏

Qatar did a phenomenal job and most definitely hosted the best World Cup ever. Well done Qatar 👏🏾
Lol, did this guy say " It's within our DNA (USA, UK, Canada) to address human rights issues" ??? How is aiding and supporting colonial settlers in Palestine helping humans rights? how is banning Women from wearing a hijab in France or Denmark and many other places because of the Islamic beliefs protects human rights equally and consistently? If we wanna talk about "degrees" of human rights violations, I think we should definitely start with the USA and move our way down, because that's where most wars were perpetrated.
BoB is hypocrite too
Message to Bob Costas, your own US of A is one of the biggest violators of Human Rights, but I credit the USMT in staying away from virtue signalling and focusing on the football.
If the western countries can do business with middle east countries, if the western country leaders shake hand with middle east country leaders, if the western share so many things with middle east, why can't we play football over there?
This man justifying Americans crimes🙄
Nice nice
Americans lecture us in human rights that funny .
It is a comedy. But it is interesting that they brainwashed themselves so much
Bob Acosta, you are dead wrong about your clarifications of Qatar, China, and Russia...etc. to decide whether they can host international sports events or not.
Simple because you would have to use the same standards for all countrand if you do si then no country would be eligible to host any events starting with Europe and the whole hemmesfer unless you use the double standard that Europe and America usually use.
USA has a military base in Qatar which is the largest in the middle east. Did Bob costas complain about that? hypocrite.
I would rather listen to MM than Bob Costa. 🤮
Disgusting.
4:00 United States of America is one of those too?
When it comes to America let’s not even talk about human rights,,😉
Bob,, please dont be delusion...

Watch how many times this American good for nothing says Putin’s Russia 🇷🇺 😆😆
What about not allowing abortion in some US states? And what about the implicit racism against black Americans? Don't give people lessons in morals when you're missing out. An example of this is what happened in Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq, who pushed Ukraine to non-recognition of the Mnisk 1 & 2 agreement through Zilansk puppets?
When two Rich and Famous people from the western world analyze the Moral Compass, they have different standards...Hypocrisy!
As for immigrants workers if Qatar doesn’t treat them good you are more than welcome to issue them work visas for 2 to 3 million Indians , Bangladeshi, Nepali’s because they need to feed their families.
hell nah huge L
I know for a fact that i rather be a migrant worker in Qatar than in China, Russia, India or even south america
In the World Cup in America, we will speak as they talk about us without regard for our feelings
If morality is subjective then by what standards is he judging these nations by cuh all I’m hearing is opinions

"And doesn't wanna turn the same critical eye to its own moral failures"
Keep politics out of football
The West has no problem having politics in sports when politics perpetuates western propaganda. However, when the politics are not supporting a Western cause, that is when the "keep politics out of sports" excuse is brought up. For example, not allowing players and teams to show support for Palestine in the Euros. But, they allowed support for LGBT and Ukraine.
